3  Economy / Economics / Re: A correction is coming soon? New real 2008 like-crisis on: May 11, 2015, 05:04:07 PM
I was watching an interesting video by Max Wright from BitShares and I would like to discuss the topic at matter.

When the 2008 real estate crash happened, the States bailed-out the banks. After a banking failure in Cyprus in 2013, the European Central Bank opted by a bail-in instead of a bail-out, meaning they would take the money away from the depositors. In the aftermath of Cyprus, Ben Bernanke, then Head of the Federal Reserve, said that if a 2008-style crisis occurred in America again, the bail-in model would most likely be used because of its success in Cyprus. The European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Australian Central Bank and the Canadian Central Bank echoed his sentiments as well. The
International Monetary Fund went so far as to publish a report saying that the key to its success is that Depositors did not see it coming.

Those business cycles they put us through are usually around 7 years on average. 2008 + 7 years = 2015. It might not happen in 2015, but a
correction is coming soon.

What do you think it will happen if this bail-in happens again in such crisis? People will loose all their savings on the banks. A life's worth of work will disappear without warning.  What consequences could it have for everyone and for the world economy?

Same black swan event rarely repeated twice the same way.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: What if US Dollar Crashes? on: May 04, 2015, 10:43:13 AM
You cannot predict a manipulated system, unless you know the plans of the manipulators. All these predictions of crashes rarely pan out because at the last minute a huge amount of money is injected somewhere to alter the system. The main system will crash when those who own it allow it to crash, or when even their resources are overwhelmed (eg. by earth changes or non-compliance).

Spot on. But you can study the past actions of the manipulators and make a good educated guess on what they will do to benefit themselves.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy now or wait ? $41,000 to invest in bitcoins and litecoins on: May 04, 2015, 10:38:51 AM
Litecoin is half dead. There is currently no new innovation or development coming from the team.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: November 23, 2014, 03:14:46 PM
Dollar is 100% "premined", unlimited number of coins, proceeds bomb children overseas, and it funds wars. One guy prints is all, at leasure without restraint, who want to speculate on where this coin is going?

Some people are saying : "bitcoin is ending"

btw, the ending is just the beginning

One party ends. Another party begins.
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Bitcoin solo on: November 23, 2014, 03:13:15 PM

to start solo mining for example with 25 TH/s and catch block with little luck??

Thank you in advance for your time.

What is your goal with solo mining? If you are trying to profit from mining, look else where.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: This "news" article about printing money is scary. on: November 02, 2014, 04:43:34 PM
Competitive devaluation is a weapon for exporting countries to kill foreign competitors.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Is Not Rebounding,why? on: November 02, 2014, 04:42:28 PM
So long as manufactures can lower the cost of production for btc, it will continue to drop until it reaches production cost.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Is Not Rebounding,why? on: October 20, 2014, 06:02:56 PM
As the title says why bitcoin price is not rebounding ? It is not bouncing back to its original value. It still didn't reached the min 450$. I think now price will be steady at 380$.
Any reason why its not getting his real value after crashing?

What make you think $380 is not its real value?
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Will there ever be another crypto boom similar to BTC in my lifetime? on: October 20, 2014, 06:02:03 PM
Hey gang, broke student here.

I heard about BTC back in 2012 after doing acid (it enlightened me) but considering my family is poor and I was going to college I had no money to invest, I was in the red. I came back to the ecosystem sometime around late-2013 after some family trouble and made a bit of pocket change day-trading DOGE (1500$)...essentially nothing compared to you big shots.

Every day I wake up and want to kill myself, considering I do not have a time machine. All I want is to live with the comfort knowing I have 100k-1m$ in my bank account....the thing that kills me is knowing I could have had that comfy security but not in this timeline, maybe a parallel timeline where I did LSD earlier. I know there will most likely not be another moment in our lives where you can invest in a stock for 1$ and it goes to 1000$, and I can't take much more of working at this dead-end fast food job.

Does anyone have any info on how often this happens, and how I could get to know about such a thing early on? Is there a secret IRC or forum where people discuss this?

I don't want to an hero, however making 1500$ a month from fast food and spending 1000$ on rent and living expenses whilst only taking away 500$ is a FUCKING JOKE. At this point I might even move to Alaska and die of a bee sting like that McCandless guy did.

It just sucks that an entire life is wasted for being a few years late, you know?

Nxt coin did make many people extremely wealthy. But choosing a good coin is like finding hitting lottery.
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why cloud mining is a zero sum game on: October 13, 2014, 04:51:37 PM

13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: If you get paid in Bitcoin do you have to pay taxes? on: October 13, 2014, 04:47:44 PM
Of course.

Not doing so will only invite trouble down the road.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People who can't wait to cash out at high prices and get rich off of Bitcoin on: October 08, 2014, 05:28:17 PM
"When this automobile thing takes off I will we be able to travel further to buy better horses!"

"If these aeroplane things work, we can use it to oversee the train track construction from above."

"BitTorrent will make it easier to move my Amazon movies from one computer to another."

"This lightbulb thing will make it easier to hunt for whales at night so we can get their blubber to burn in our lamps."

Nice analogy.
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 84% of Brits think the war on drugs has failed on: October 08, 2014, 05:25:24 PM
drugs is the number one enemy that can destroy a nation, when many young people in a country already taking drugs, so watch the destruction of the nation, it is very easy if we want to destroy a country, destroy the youth was first ... hopefully the youth of our country are not taking drugs, we can start from ourselves ...  Grin

Education against drug start from home. Can't expect the government to protect someone who want to harm themselves.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If alcohol was illegal on: October 06, 2014, 09:32:39 AM
Do you think they would ever legalize it?

Cheaper to enforce the law and get tax revenue from legalizing it than driving alcohol underground and spend a huge deal of money on law enforcement and collect no tax revenue.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase over charging on: October 06, 2014, 09:29:00 AM
Coinbase is charging $312 plus 1% for coins right now, while Bitstamp is 299 and bitfinex is 308, give me a brake. 4% plus fees, why is that. I lost so much already on my last buy and sell and now have to get screwed here, I think now is a good entry point but why charge so much more? With plenty of Bitcoins available like the 16,000 coins for sale on Bitstamp, why rape your customers?

The company exists to make profit. If you don't like their price, simply stop using their service.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: and we are officially off to test the previous high at around $270 on: October 04, 2014, 08:08:57 AM
just a matter of time now, odds are very high. Don't see why any large specs would bother buying until they see what happens at 270.

that 270 doesn't hold and this could get ugly.

I had a 50k buy order in at 270 but now I'm just gonna wait and see what happens there.

I am more pessimistic than you.

If price go around 100-200 area, I might buy 10-20 coins like lottery ticket.
