Why would I buy from Itop, when Bitmain is selling them direct for $1000.00 cheaper? And even @ Bitmain price of $2307 + $75 shipping to USA...

It would take 122 days to ROI WITHOUT POWER COSTS NOR DIFFICULTY INCREASE. Add in power costs (approx 1/2 of daily earnings) and difficulty, This device WILL NEVER ROI.

Run away! You are throwing good money after bad on this folks.

You should try cloud mining. Check my signature.

^^^  SHILL!

Cloud mining is DUMB and also NOT profitable for anyone except the person charging you fees. CEX.io WAS profitable until the end of last year when they started "black-outs" and charging maintenance fees greater than what the hash produced.

DO NOT BUY CLOUD HASH

it is a SCAM, IMOTHO Smiley

update :

1. We have lost contact with Friedcat more than 40 days, we are now still focusing on finding him.
2. A lot of evidences we have found shows that he is safe, which is the only good news recently. In addition, all rumour around the community are baseless and untrustworthy. We know so far nothing about where has he been and where is he at the moment.
3. We have to focus on finding him currently so there are indeed some delay on replying email of sale@bitquan.com. However, since we have all records of your emails so it is only a problem of time, please understand and be patient.
4. AMHASH project is not from sale team of ASICMINER, we know nothing about the deal between Friedcat and ROCKMINER, no one else has seen the contract between them either ,therefore, we sale department of ASICMINER is not be in charge of AMHASH project, please be patient to wait till we find FC.

Glad to hear you guys are keeping up that world class customer service we have grown to expect.

Somebody should send a request saying they want to get rid of an S5 or an SP20, see if they reply.

I fished a quote for SP10,20,30's and S3 & S5's. Will let you all know IF they make an offer.

11 Days and nothing but crickets.. (edit 22/03/15)

^How's that Basic mining investment of yours paying off, on target?  All good?

Really surprised at all this anger that's been misdirected my way lately.
I didn't run with your coin--merely pointed out that cluelessness, unchecked greed & stupidity are no longer enough to make you rich.  And that surprise buttsecs is a much more likely outcome.
Not my fault I was yet again proven right, and you... well, you know...

OMG I think I tinkled.. WOW this is f'd in the A. WOW and I thought the minor fires his POS chips started was bad..

10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SP10 Ignites!!! on: March 03, 2015, 05:30:07 AM

Yeah I am phasing out miners with a draw north of 1000w, in my experience that is the threshold which leads to fire. I have had the lower wattage miners burn up, but never with a resulting flame. Shrink the mine down to 20TH and hold, expansion with current return and specs on gen 3 just does not make sense.

not sure how thats really the problem - power density is a greater issue than overall power. SP3x draws >2800W but is extremely reliable. KNC draws 300W/box and caused dozens of fires (generally all related to wiring though)

was the SP10 running at full specs still (1200W/1400GH) or was it undervolted (770W/1000GH)

I was operating on the assumption that the SP10 was reliable as well. It was running @ 1kW/1200GH, 80% fan.

She is heading back to SP-T, I hope they are able to discern the cause. Make the MEGA mines safer....

Halotron is not the same as halon, halon was started to phase out of circulation more than 2 decades ago because of ozone depletion.
So you have two choices:
Halotron
or
3M novec - which is about 300 dollars a gallon.

What on Earth are you saying? How do you even know one thing about my preparedness?

When we're talking about fire, is it safe to assume that this one self extinguished?

Negative, had to pull from rack and extinguish with wet towel. Did not want to over react and kill the room.
Mom says: You look prettier when you don't say too much.

(I am really joking, but thanks for saying too much)

You could also do what AbuGarcia says, but those are pretty expensive alternatives. And consider you might not be there when it happens next time. Might want to look into a kit triggered by smoke. One integrated with a breaker box. (Halon has it's problems.)

Sounds like your mom gives good advice you should take it.

Yes problem with Halon bomb is it shit cans the rest of the GOOD equipment. If these guys like AM are planning to shove 5KW thru a board I would have to say NO THANKS!

S1, S3 are solid had several pop but never ignite.

S5 same low power unit as S1-S3, SP20 being smaller but using the same power as SP10 leaves me a bit worried.
If you do your homework on Halon and it's various alternatives, you can apply "an equipment safe" alternative to water. (hence why I mentioned the (general kit) with a breaker function.)

Halon does not always entail damage to Good equipment. If you design things properly you can avoid that without too much trouble.
Don't take my word for it, just read.

----------------

On the S1 through S3, these are subjective opinions. Your putting yourself in an area of misplaced confidence. It will eventually happen even in the best of situations.

If you lul yourself into a false sense of manufacturer superiority then you'll pay for it big time when your time comes.

Ugh man you have been of NO USE on this thread, your information is erroneous and off base, please GTH! I have had ALL miners fail, I have had 2 which have caught a blaze and failed to extinguish without intervention.

@whonesta contact sales@
We would like to buy the SP10 back for analysis.

Regarding SP20, we had to date zero reports of similar issue.

Thanks I imagine it has a story for ya. And after looking at the SP20 in OPs, I was incorrect about the power usage, like the ant's it too is a lower power unit.

Email sent. Subject: SP10 Ignites

I've had two SP10s in my custody for hosting since about July, and this has happened to me three times (twice on one machine). One of them blew a VRM in January when the intake temps were about 14C. That grey bead to the uppper right corner is the only connection between your VRM/bank and the 12V rail, which means if you're worried just remove it and thew hole burnt section is now electrically cut off. Both my SP10s still work at reduced capacity.

Thanks for that HELPFUL comment sidehack, that would be best case to save the remainder of the board's functionality.

Thanks Mom..

LOL You have an amazing ability to remote view my mind and my data room, WOW!

I did not say Thx GOD, because I was afraid something was going to destroy my place. Even it I had let her burn at best it would have caused the building to stink. But hey thx for the free anal-lysis it was really helpful.

Sometimes stating the obvious is necessary.
Try not to make a fool of yourself.

Likewise I agree shit fails, the difference is will it catch a blaze. I have had several ants fry the difference being they popped, smoked, dead. This SP10, like the AM Turds, caught a blaze which did not extinguish without aid.

Thus FIRE STARTER!
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SP10 Ignites!!! on: March 02, 2015, 01:31:01 AM
I have 2 SP10's, 1 was a slow corner the other a fast corner model. Today I found the fast corner idol, upon reboot I noticed a strange glow coming from the intake. Yep she was a blaze, intake temps are 29c as always so it was not excessive heat, looks like the advertisement as a "professional" piece of equipment was ALL hype. At less then 6 months of operations and she is up in smoke, to date I have 30 antMiner products NOT a single fire yet. SP-T has joined the ranks of "Fire-starters"..  Ugh what a let down, there goes buying a SP31 and now I have to worry about my remaining SP10 and SP20.

Pics to come, have to feed the family before tear down.

could it be dust? I always worry about this for any miner-eager to see the cause.

While I can not rule that out, the 33 other machines in the room seem to suggest different. Obviously the board is NOW dirty, cap blew dust everywhere. Guess I need to pull a board tonight..  JOY!!

Really I would say the heatsink came loose/ lost contact to that section of the board. Since I was unable to speak to machine had to do a hard reset, the temp of that asic bank was probably reason for machine hanging. Lesson I suppose is after a few months of ops, you should tighten mount points. Now where is my SP10 manual, maybe their website..  HAHAHA  LMAO yep "The best CS and most professionally built".

Might want to shut your SP10's down for a quick inspection!
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SP10 Ignites!!! on: March 02, 2015, 01:26:50 AM
there goes buying a SP31

"i'm not buying GEN2 because GEN1 had an issue"

like...

"i'm not eating steak because the chicken is bad"

 Cheesy

LOL Raskul, I am not buying it because they are over priced, which was "excused" because they were a "better" built piece of hardware. I NO longer believe that and in fact I would say these POS are REALLY EXPENSIVE AM Tube dangerous.

So anyone from SP-T see the problem?  This machine was running in a Rack with 29c intake temps, on 220v power.

Looks like a suspicious link:

Most likely an attempt to discover IP's.

LOL even the peanut gallery?? S.A.D
