1  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: $50 Amex card for BTC on: July 25, 2014, 12:32:41 AM
Yes Amex = American Express. It is a rebate card I got from buying a phone. I'll give you the number and security code and it should work just fine for any online purchases. I could also mail it if you wanted free in the US. Offer good for a couple more hours until I get around to go and buy coins on my own.
2  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: $50 Amex card for BTC on: July 24, 2014, 08:16:03 PM
Within a couple hours, I am just going to get coins with coinbase and use this on amazon unless there are any takers.
3  Economy / Currency exchange / [done] $50 Amex card for BTC on: July 24, 2014, 03:43:32 AM
edit: don't need to exchange any more

I've got a $50 Amex card as a rebate and would like BTC, just let me know the parameters of your deal.

Link to my old OTC ranking in my sig doesn't seem to work, and I didn't auth in there for forever but I am listed there too, better than nothing I guess: http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=prax&sign=ANY&type=RECV

Thanks.

PTS are at almost $40 now? I've managed to mine a whole half of one, kind of disappointing it was so hard to mine by the time I came across it at the beginning of the month.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CAN'T LOG ON TO MTGOX. ANYONE ELSE HAVING A PROBLEM? on: April 21, 2013, 06:19:21 PM
I thought that I didn't have to worry about leaving ~1.5BTC in the hand of these bitches but 502 bad gateway?

I just wanted to check on the market price. MtGox is a horribly-run company as far as I can tell though. They can unleash typical political speak bullshit when needed and people keep using the service. They have previously exposed my password to hackers. They obviously can't handle the current market, including hacker attacks. Be prepared for a major scam they pull in the next few months.

Please make a better exchange. I will help with graphic design voluntarily and for free.
6  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate as a bank. This is HUGE on: December 07, 2012, 07:42:36 PM
I'm not familiar with European banks, so could someone please explain the implications of being able to get an account here. I don't quite get what SEPA is or what the big deal of having IBAN numbers is.
Anyone in Europe (the civilized part) can transfer Euro to you for free or minimal charge.  You can do the same the other way.  SEPA transfers are quite fast.  The regulations say maximum D+1 (banking days), and in my experience same day transfer is quite common if you send early.  D is either the day you issue the transfer, if you do it before an afternoon deadline published by your bank, or the first bank day afterwards.

SEPA bank transfers are not harmed by weird USAnian regulations which forbid you to send money where you want (e.g. to companies with relations to Cuba).  Some bank I tried for one day refused to send money to Intersango because of some issues with an USA based intermediary bank, and I guess you must have a lot of these problems if you are trading all over the world.  (I filed a complaint to my national regulators.  The bank called me the day after with a lot of excuses and sent me a compensation because they hadn't specified the restrictions imposed by the intermediate bank in their terms of service.  Tried the bank once due to free international transfers, but I would rather pay a fee than cope with unreliable service.)

So, SEPA sounds like a fast ACH. Most people in the US don't know what ACH is though. If I say to a European customer, "The best method to pay me will be probably making a SEPA transfer; here's my IBAN number.", are they going to know what I am talking about and not be reluctant to do it?

The FATCA stuff is scary and I expect it to be a problem once davout looks into it. I guess it is too early to say what us US people can do with this and I feel I will need to have some real presence in Europe by making a real company there. Right now, the only credit card processor I can get without huge % fees only takes US cards so it is so hard to get international payments and most people don't want to pay $10-20 Western Union fees for a $100 order.

I'm American, made an account and uploading a scan of my drivers license is no issue. After that you may need some other type of identification depending on laws but I basically have a euro-denominated bank account (just can't apply for a line of credit)?

I wonder how just this part, forgetting that it would be fairly easy to deposit bitcoins into it can help me. I run an ecig business and these are prohibited to be sold with paypal and many similar services, credit card processors, etc. here. Whenever I have had customers in Europe, I always tell them their options are Western Union or similar, postal cheque or bitcoins. Could I now offer them something which will be cheaper for them?

My customers in France thought it was weird that I couldn't use paypal and I see one French ecig place (here) accepting it. Could I use my new French bank account to sign up for a French paypal and then accept payments with that for my US based business? Is there any sort of credit card processor/gateway which can be offered by your partners?
8  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: USD between MTGOX <--> DWOLLA on: October 02, 2012, 02:19:04 AM
I have $118.14 on MtGox for Dwolla. A nicer number like $100/115 or the full amount is fine.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering PGP keys. on: August 31, 2012, 12:22:39 AM
What GPG files from the old installation do you have?

None, but I don't know why. It seems like I backed up the whole GnuPG folder but kept everything important somewhere else. The hardware problem is mostly fixed, I just don't have a need anymore to get this solved immediately so I will hopefully be able to complete it another time and refer to this thread. Thanks everyone for help.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Wallet and PGP Auth to #Bitcoin-OTC on: August 30, 2012, 06:49:00 AM
Thanks but somehow I don't have either of those .gpg files either. I'm not sure why. I installed a fresh GPA and it is fairly intuitive, but it offers to store the first private key you make anywhere so maybe I stored that somewhere random and when I thought I was backing up everything important in the GnuPG folder I left that out. I use win7 and when I search *.gpg all I get is stuff from my new install.

My old computer was kind of an intermediate Dell POS after I had a freak accident destroy a build I made. I put my old HDD along with the intermediate computer, but to do that I had to swap Sata/power cables with the DVD drive. When I built a new system I was short on (IDE?) power cables for my HD/SSD/BR and took some out of the old system. I bought a new one but then since I didn't really need it misplaced it and let it all slide. This is easy to put back from the new system if I have to,  but the old-old HDD somehow also had the plastic around the SATA connector broken off, a metal prong bent and it took me a while to even get it back in place. I think this second HD is where the real GPG info must be, if at all, and hopefully I can get it if I just shutdown my new computer and power the old drive.

It is kind of too late now though and I don't even care. I will definitely be more careful if I try to be involved with this crap again. Thanks to all for your patient help.
11  Economy / Lending / Re: (Updated) 10-20 BTC Loan Needed for ~3 weeks on: August 29, 2012, 11:52:25 PM
I don't have my PGP key. See my support thread for details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104467.new#new

Between getting my old wallet with 11 BTC and a refund initiated for something, I can probably squeak by at this point.

I might be able to get whatever to get my old key for OTC, but really I don't know if anyone is even considering to lend and it is a pain in the ass, plus the money might not even get to me in time now. Dwolla to my bank is fairly fast I think, but not 1 day fast.

Anyhow, I am still open to a 10-20 BTC loan because being dead broke sucks and will hold me back. I don't see how anyone can think my account is hacked and this is a scammer with all of the other alternative methods of proof I can give.

If you might lend, but need me to be able to clearsign something related to OTC (not even sure how to do this), please tell me your rates.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: PGP key identifier on: August 29, 2012, 11:21:31 PM
which is the right one?
Obviously, the one with id 6281BDB0.

If only it were that easy.. I actually haven't been able to get on my old computer (hardware issue, but I think I can cannibalize my new system for the part).

I did save my whole old GnuPG folder when I backed up stuff, though I don't think I have the proper keys to import into GPA.

I have something I named gribble.text.asc

Is this worth anything to recovering a key? I think all I have is this and a text file of similar. This is some sort of clearsign of a response code gribble gives and nothing useful?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Wallet and PGP Auth to #Bitcoin-OTC on: August 29, 2012, 08:02:25 PM
Thanks. What I really need to do is "sign a PGP message" with whatever key I used for OTC, more than be able to visit OTC, though that will be nice to get sorted out later.

I remember fiddling with PGP and being frustrated, so that is why I never went back to OTC. I think I have several PGP keys setup, so is there some way to tell from my OTC listing which is the right one?

Looks like someone just recently got the nick dropped and probably tried to use it to scam, only used it for a day, so I will have to wait 8+ weeks to get it again hoping they don't log in.

I am hoping that my Bitcoin OTC name can be tied to another IRC name... This whole thing sucks.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering Wallet and PGP Auth to #Bitcoin-OTC on: August 29, 2012, 06:09:17 PM
I can't even ;;guide because I need to recover my password to freenode first and ATM don't even see how to do that.

I found some stuff on bitcoin OTC's website... now just to decipher it. Thanks for the offer but I need to figure this out to prove who I am to try to get a loan, so maybe not the best time to be asking me for BTC heh.
16  Economy / Lending / Re: 40-50 BTC Loan Needed for ~3 weeks on: August 29, 2012, 05:52:49 PM
My old MtGox account was part of those which got hacked. My forum account never got hacked. I have a new MtGox account now and don't use that same password for anything else.

I don't know how to "sign a message" in PGP. Not everyone who attempts to use bitcoin is an expert linux hacker.

This is the link to some gibberish on my OTC rating: http://pool.sks-keyservers.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0x05EC22B9A0119189344EF3786FCB388C6281BDB0

Now what do I do with that? I have no clue. I am going to drag out my old computer and look to see what I have with PGP.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Recovering Wallet and PGP Auth to #Bitcoin-OTC on: August 29, 2012, 05:35:31 PM
1. I have an old wallet saved (unencrypted) with a few coins on it. I took this off my old computer and just downloaded the bitcoin client again. Is there a guide to plugging those coins into my new client? I figure there is a guide around somewhere, but though I could ask.

2. More pressing and difficult.. I used to use Bitcoin OTC way before you needed to do some sort of PGP Authentication to even join the channel. In general, I had problems using Win GPG or whatever it was called, so there are probably keys from a few attempts sitting around on my old computer. I need to figure out what I am looking for and how to join OTC again. What am I looking for and how do I do this?
18  Economy / Lending / Re: 40-50 BTC Loan Needed for ~3 weeks on: August 29, 2012, 05:28:00 PM
Considering that part of your post was, "If I were you, I would blah blah blah with PGP", it seems like it was to me. I guess I can see some concern with hacked accounts and that it has been so long since I posted here, but I just don't use bitcoin much nowadays. I occasionally use it for international payments, straight to MtGox then Dwolla.

I don't appreciate you saying "this looks very suspicious" though and it seems like you are being too paranoid or having some sort of logic failure. My OTC ranking includes mention of my website for my little ecig company I need the loan for. I put up "Error 40" to show I have control of it and could change this message to something else. You are saying that not only was my forum account hacked, but also all of my info to log in to my company website? Do you really think that?

I can show emails to the people at the processing company (Clover) being confused about my $1K limit then being mad about the 1 month hold. I guess "the hacker" got into my gmail and 2 factor auth (also required for Clover too, as Clover is linked to a mobile phone).

Here is a screenshot of my Clover account from the other day and then today, as well as it showing I need my mobile phone to even log in. I left the tab with the older screenshot open on my computer for a few days and it shows the last deposit before I hit my limit which came out Monday the 27th for some reason. I don't know why their account manager always says no past withdrawals when there have been. They are a relatively new company and the dashboard also says coming soon for some other feature, so it isn't perfect.

Privately for a lender, I have no problem scanning in my driver's license/recent mail along with a personalized message. I can probably also google up something with my real name linked to my business. I think I even might somewhere have a copy of the newspaper article when my local paper did an article on bitcoin! (not sure where it is though)

I know this might seem like some sort of scammy rush tactic, but I am just wondering if I don't get a loan until tomorrow if the funds will even clear to my bank by Friday from Dwolla. I will try to figure out how to recover the PGP linked to my OTC account. I don't even have IRC on my new computer but I will probably have to recover my cloak or whatever for freenode too. I gave nanotube some PGP thing I think before it was even required to get into the channel.. then when that change occurred I had some sort of trouble doing whatever I had to and didn't feel like spending the time.

Hopefully someone can see this is not a scam. Whatever risk you are taking is why you get the ridiculous percentage you do for the service.
19  Economy / Lending / Re: 40-50 BTC Loan Needed for ~3 weeks on: August 29, 2012, 02:22:30 PM
I was worried that there would be some concern with this, but no it is the real me. I kind of stopped using #bitcoin-OTC when they required PGP to log in and I always had some issues with that. I was using a different computer then, but I hope I can pull all of that back out and figure out how to do the PGP. I have some bitcoins stored on an old wallet too, but I will need to spend the time to learn how to recover the wallet.

I certainly own the website you see mentioned in my OTC profile and will respond to the email in my forum profile. The payment processor I am talking about with the delay also cause a bunch of issues with taking payments and that is part of why I put my website in maint mode. I tossed up the message Error 40 to prove I have control over my website though if that helps.

I am available by phone and would like to get the ball rolling today if possible. I will boot up my old computer and try to do the PGP tonight though if needed.
20  Economy / Lending / No longer needed on: August 29, 2012, 01:40:33 PM
Edit: I am somewhat on track to recovering my key used for OTC and don't need as much now. I would like to know if I go through the trouble and even can get my old OTC identity back if anyone would lend to me and what the rate would be. I would need to get the loan by tomorrow, 8/30, or I would just forget it. Please tell me what your rate would be.

---

Hi everyone. I would like to lend 40-50 BTC and plan to repay by the end of the week of Sept 21st, or maybe the beginning of the week after if worst comes to worst.

I have never posted much on the forums but I was an early user of bitcoins, used to spend a lot of time in #bitcoin-otc and have some positive ratings there linked in my sig. I have no problem giving whatever info is needed and won't have any problem repaying.

I mistook the policy of one of the companies I use for my own little company to process credit cards and didn't realize they put a 1 month hold on any payments over $1K/mo, so I have $850 on hold. Couple that with some bad luck and bad planning on my part and I am tight for end of the month bills in just a few days.

$655 of this should start rolling to my bank by the beginning of the week of the 21st. Sometimes this processor is a bit slow versus their dates but I am using other processors now which are faster, so hopefully I don't even need to wait for these payments. I can show a screenshot of these incoming payments, my payment history with another processor and also Dwolla to show I should have a stream of money incoming.

The ideal loan for me would be a fiat$ amount ($400-500) and sent without delay from Dwolla, but if it is in BTC that is fine too. I just see no reason to pay MtGox fees if I don't have to and last time I tried to cash out with them I hit a delay. Getting the funds by Friday would be best.

Please let me know what you can offer and if you want any more info from me.
