The ICC world cup qualifiers start tomorrow. West Indies take on Afghanistan in the first match tomorrow. West Indies would be the favorites to win every match and the series, but they must not be complacent. Some of the teams, especially Afghanistan can give them a run for their money.

Yes West Indies will be favorites to win the series however I'm actually thinking Afghanistan can put up a strong fight and maybe even cause an upset and win the series. Afghanistan have been in fine form in recent months beating Zimbabwe so I think they can challenge the West Indies and make it an interesting contest.

No one was expecting that WI will go through this process to qualify for world cup.

Afghanistan is quite a strong team and more consistent with the performance so I won't be surprised if they beat WI in today's match. WI should take this match seriously and put pressure on Afghanistan from the beginning otherwise they may lose this match.

Any Idea how many teams will be selected at the end of this qualifying series?

There will be only 1 team, the winner of this tournament, who will play in the World Cup. The ODI world cup now follows a restrictive format, with only 8 teams participating. The T20 World Cup is where the associate nations can really make an impact.
Afghanistan managed to defeat West Indies in the warm up match today. Afghanistan scored only 163, but it was sufficient to win the match.
442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNBC: Be “prepared to lose everything” in Cryptos on: February 27, 2018, 07:01:38 AM
So yeah, this is your typical traditional asset manager fear mongering, but I found this article most interesting because it includes a side by side comparison chart of volitility for BTC, ETH, Ripple and tradition assets, stocks and gold.  We already know how volatile it is, but had never seen a side by side comparison like that.

Remember, though, the word volitity has a connotation when talking about investments, but it goes both ways.  Highly volition assets can “explode to the upside”, too.

At least this BlackRock asset manager does appear to acknowledge that Cryptos may eventually become mainstream.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/26/worlds-largest-asset-manager-says-get-ready-to-stomach-complete-losses-in-cryptocurrencies.html

This is not fear mongering. This is the maxim in crypto investing. Even long time holders know at the back of their mind, that there is a possibility that Bitcoin may become worthless. Although it is more probable that Bitcoin will become successful and appreciate in value.
This is also the advice I give to people who are looking to invest in crypto. Treat it like a small lottery and be prepared to lose everything.
443  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-26] Venezuela Launches Free Cryptocurrency Training Course For Citizen on: February 27, 2018, 06:27:41 AM
The Government of Venezuela really doesn't need to do anything to educate its citizens. Thanks to the government's mismanagement of economic policies, most citizens have already learnt about Bitcoin because it is an essential survival skill. It is only the government's earlier crackdown which led to miners and traders going underground.
444  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trading is gambling after all on: February 26, 2018, 11:12:00 PM
and I rather think that gambling can be more promising if we need profit quickly, and of course it can not be separated from. strategy and emotional control.

I beats me why some people still believe that gambling can be more "promising". In trading you can at least hope to evaluate fundamentals and expect the prices to rise or fall in the near future unless these fundamentals have already been priced in. But in casino gambling, such as dice, your only chance at winning is pure luck, except when you can change the odds in your favor somehow. The longer you play the less importance and effect luck will have because it will be largely overridden by house edge. It is not particularly different in trading either, given that the market has its own "house edge" over a typical trader, but at least milking the market as via arbitrage is not considered illegal here.

There are a lot of gamblers who 'play' the crypto market. For a guy who is investing in the 1000th ranked cryptocurrency, do you really think he is trying to evaluate fundamentals and take an informed view? He is just making a punt on the coin. Trading can be treated as a game, and crypto trading is a high-adrenaline game.
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Prediction For A Crypto / Fiat Flippening? on: February 26, 2018, 10:49:49 PM
How long do you predict it will take for the day-to-day volume of crypto assets to surpass that of fiat currencies?

IF the blockchain succeeds, I wouldn't expect to see a potential flippening to happen before 2025-2030. The current level of real world usage for the blockchain is very similar to that of Graphene - "Graphene can do just about anything, except leave the lab".

To use some analogy, Graphene and the Blockchain tech can both do a lot of wonderful things - both are wonder technologies with extremely high potential applications. With both Graphene and Crypto currencies, we know that the underlying potential is huge. However, the challenges are also there. First, you have to come up with a way to use these properties for beneficial applications. Then, you have to scale fast enough while keeping it low cost, which so far hasn't been the case for most cryptos including bitcoin(tx fees, scaling issues) or graphene(high costs for large scale productions).

Even though none of us currently use crypto for day-to-day purchases, the market cap is very high - which is all due to pure speculation, or what I would call, emerging market value. It’s the market that determines ubiquity or obscurity of technology, and it does not care how a technology works; it cares about what problems that technology solves.

If the blockchain tech succeeds in solving the issues facing fiat currencies both physical and digital, one thing is certain. The market cap will grow hundredfold, and it's going to imitate the stock market as a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient. So HODL Smiley
There won't be any date for that to happen because there won't be any governments wanting Bitcoin. This is not that big when government money is concerned.

Governments wanting Bitcoin will become a moot point if Bitcoin becomes too big and international trades start taking place in Bitcoin. If Bitcoin becomes a kind of reserve currency, then of course governments will want to hoard it. Already, we have seen countries which have been forced out of the international monetary system (like North Korea) looking to take advantage of the decentralized nature of Bitcoin.

447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: February 26, 2018, 08:30:08 PM
we need binance listing

From what I've heard binance listings cost the applicants big money. They also will only accept applications from members of the core team which means Mr Ch which means it ain't happening ever.

Do we know how much it will cost? Given that there are bytes which have still not been distributed, it might be a worthwhile exercise using some of those to get the coin listed on Binance.
I doubt if they will remain fixated on asking some member of the core team to apply to get the coin listed. If Byteball becomes big, it might be in Binance's interest to get it listed, with or without Tony asking them to.
448  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-26] Global Money Laundering Watchdog Briefed on Korea’s Crypto Rules on: February 26, 2018, 07:53:58 PM
It would be tough for consensus to emerge on a contentious topic like regulating cryptocurrencies. In the fiat world, the big economies have taken the lead and established a broad framework for preventing money laundering. Tax havens which promise secrecy have more or less disappeared, because other countries have threatened to block them if they don't comply. In the cryptoworld, it would be tough for universal rules to be applied.

Five one-day match series between England and New Zealand started today. New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first and it looks they done a good job until now because England just scored 285 runs in their 50 overs and last eight wickets. Only three players played good in this innings and rest of them are just okay and that's why they couldn't score over 300 runs. I think NZ will win this match.
I still think England will be able to win this one . The odds are pretty good for them and hence I am going for them Smiley I was expecting them to score 300+ though . Roy should have gone on to score big , he takes too much risk but he is an exceptional player.
NewZealand bowled well to restrict England within 300, we have seen how explosive England batting line up, they have won series against Australia in Australia. Now NZ needs to bat sensibly to win this match they have capable of chasing this total and home conditions is the advantage for them.

The fact that England managed to make 285 is only due to the knocks of Root and Butler. Butler scored at better than a run a ball and hit 5 sixers, showing how explosive he can be. New Zealand didn't have the best of starts, being reduced to 27/3 by England. They are now in a consolidation phase and Taylor and Latham have done well, taking New Zealand to 121/3
450  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-24]46% of Last Year’s ICOs Have Failed Already on: February 25, 2018, 06:56:56 AM
So I guess what I can take out of this is I'm a God damn genius when it comes to investing in ICOs. 46%!? Really?! That's insane! I have two that I did okay on, like +10-30% in bitcoin value depending on the day, and another that I'm either double to quadruple on. So idk what people invested in, but obviously not what I invested in if they lost any money.

If you pick and choose your ICOs, you should be fine. The problem comes when people think ICO = Easy Money. ICOs are able to raise millions of dollars without a clear roadmap and a clear idea of how they are going to deliver, only because some people continue investing in all ICOs. They get misled by the marketing blitz and give more importance to form over substance. Unfortunately, they are going to lose their money very quickly.
451  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-24]Cointelegraph - Coinbase, GDAX Exchange Platforms Introduce Full Seg on: February 24, 2018, 08:52:30 PM
Segwit is just one step, but I am glad Coinbase has adopted it. Their management of unspent outputs does leave a lot to be desired. The cost of merging the much fragmented Bitcoin unspent outputs could be very costly for Coinbase. The positive takeaway is that they have realized that the blockchain bloat (and the associated costs) is a problem and they are taking steps.
452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: February 24, 2018, 07:55:28 PM
Kohli is not playing today's last match and Rohit is captain for the team. Africa won the toss and bowling first. India have reached 63/1 in their 7 overs. I think 200 runs around should be a good score on this pitch provided India can take quick top order batsman of the team.

Only 1 Over left, probably it would be around max 180 if they hit some boundaries or over boundaries. So I believe it will be tough and quite challenging for Indian Team Bowlers to defend there runs. The previous match was a good example how well South African batsman can chase the target.

India managed to score 172/7 in their allotted 20 overs. It wasn't a big total and will be considered sub-par by today's T20 standards. India have come to depend on Kohli, just like they used to depend on Tendulkar some time around. But this time, the bowlers managed to win the match for them, in spite of a late charge by Christiaan Jonker. Bhubaneswar Kumar kept his cool and India won the match by 7 runs. With this, they go home with both the ODI and T20 trophies from South Africa.
453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Will It Take For Bitcoin To Replace The Dollar In Everyday Transactions on: February 24, 2018, 12:13:49 PM
This will not happen, in my opinion. The US dollar has the world's largest and most powerful military backing it. Bitcoin has nothing but the belief of the community in a decentralized platform. Bitcoin may grow and become huge, but I do not see it replacing the dollar.
We all know what happened when middle east oil czars try to sell their oil in a different currency. "Regime change" occurs in their countries.
454  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-23] New York Lawmakers Are Open to Revisiting the BitLicense on: February 24, 2018, 11:45:08 AM
BitLicense shows how misguided regulation can really kill businesses in an area and force businesses to move out. Benjamin Lawsky created a maze of regulations that forced Blockchain companies to move out. After hanging his boots as a regulator, he moved over to the commercial side, helping these very companies 'navigate' the maze of regulations he created.
He and his cronies are the only ones who profited from this regulation, at the expense of all other entrepreneurs and innovators.
455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taiwanese Police Tackle Country’s First Bitcoin Robbery on: February 23, 2018, 09:00:35 AM
Do you think Bitcoin Price is affected?

Why should it be? I see no reason for it. 18 Bitcoins? That's nothing compared to the markets.
It's like stealing a Ferrari would bankrupt the car maker.

But on the subject, one must be pretty dumb to go with 18 BTC to a face to face meeting in the street and deal with people you have not met before.
And it's not just about BTC , would you do that if you would be selling 1kg of jewelry?
Would you let an unknown buyer drive alone in a drive test your 200k car ?

Events like this are beyond my comprehension.

It could be possible that the man whose bitcoins were stolen had obtained them illegally? If he were indeed a thug or a criminal who was looking to dispose off the proceeds of crime, he should have taken a few strong arm men to the meeting as well.
In this day and age of multiple international exchanges, selling 18BTC at the market price should not be a problem at all.
456  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-22] SEC charges former bitcoin exchange and its founder with fraud on: February 23, 2018, 08:00:09 AM
The SEC seems to be taking its own sweet time to act against fraudulent exchanges. Montroll closed its shutters in 2013. The SEC has filed charges in 2018. In an age where money and criminals disappear in days after swindling investors, such delayed investigations and actions will hardly put fear in their hearts.

But it should because it might mean that the SEC is following all the fraud and scams in the cryptospace, and thoroughly studies them before filing charges.

If Cryptsy's Paul Vernon thinks that he's out of the hook, he should be careful. The same goes for the past illegal ICOs and crowdsales that were organized in America.

That is true, but there is an adage - justice denied is justice delayed. Think of the Mt Gox probe, proceeding at its own sweet pace. If the depositors who lost their bitcoins at their exchange receive the dollar value of their holdings after 5 years, you can hardly expect them to be satisfied.
The action does act as a deterrent and potential swindlers may think twice if they feel that the law will eventually catch up with them. This however does not help the existing victims.

What could it be? How to fix it? I can not do the transaction.

Random and changing dilution of current (and potentially future) holders assets with redistribution by the dev, together with the loss of trust this causes, have a serious potential to harm rather than help this network. If Tony ends up putting those coins to phenomenally good use, then maybe this is for the best, but I see no sign of that so far. Cashback for a handful of shops that are being paid to take byteball and a buggy and philosophically questionable KYC program are terrible uses of what amounts by inflation to current holders money.

The amount distributed through the Jumio verification program is very small. I think most users are hesitant to part with personal information in the crypto space at this stage. They certainly couldn't be tempted by $12 worth of a coin.
About the other distribution methods, I guess we have to just wait and watch. If as you say, these methods turn out to be effective ways to get new users to the ecosystem, the value of the bytes we hold will definitely rise.

South Africa won the toss and opt to bowl 1st. Rohith out for zero runs later Raina and Dhawan entertained well but now India lost Dhawan and Kholi back to back bad start for India. Now the score is 49/3 6 overs completed. if SA takes 2 more wickets India will be in trouble I think SA will win this match.

India quickly recovered as they have scored 104-4 now.Manish pandey doing a great job.He has scored 45 from just 27 balls. So this match against belongs to india I guess.SA needs some quick wickets to be back.on this match.SA need to win this match to avoid losing T20 series because india already had won 1st T20.I hope SA wins the match because I have bet for SA.

India managed to post a competitive score of 188, thanks to fifties by Manish Pandey and Dhoni. Manish Pandey played a fine knock while Dhoni exploded in the last 3 overs. However, this wasn't enough to stop South Africa from winning the match and leveling the series. Klaasen and Duminy struck fine fifties, while for a change the Indian spinners went for runs.
