1  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Can what happened to Samourai Wallet happen to Electrum ? on: April 26, 2024, 01:15:55 PM
Hello,

I saw that the founders of Samourai Wallets were arrested and that the website to download the wallet was frozen. I guess this has made users of this wallet unsecured.
Do you think this can happen to other software wallets ? Especially Electrum ?

2  Bitcoin / Electrum / My encrypted private key touched iCloud on: November 25, 2023, 10:38:27 AM
Hello,

I wanted to export my electrum xpub key to iCloud, however I exported the wallet file containing the private key. The private key is secured by a password.
I deleted the file on iCloud just a few minutes later.

What advice could you give me now ? Should I recreate a cold private key or my security was actually not too much compromised ?

Thanks
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Improving multisig setup on: October 09, 2023, 09:12:29 PM
Hello,
I created an offline 2/3 multisig wallet on electrum.
The 3 keys are geographically distributed, however 2 of them are very closely located.
I would like to improve this setup by duplicating one of the private key and either:
- Store it in a 4th location
- Store it offline on my iPhone ? Is it possible ? Encrypt it on my computer ?
Any thoughts ?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / What occur to fees paid if I don’t broadcast a transaction immediately ? on: July 21, 2023, 05:32:13 PM
Hello,
Let’s say I choose to spend an UTXO with Sparrow, set up the fees (let’s say 10 sats/vb), sign offline the transaction but don’t broadcast it immediately.
And imagine that I broadcast the transaction on the internet only 1 year later, when fees are 100 sats/vb.
What happened then ??
Will the fees be adjusted automatically in order to process my transaction ?
Or will I keep 10 sats/vb ?
Or will my transaction never arrive ?
5  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to check I have the seeds of my multisig 2/3 on: July 17, 2023, 05:26:32 PM
For example, I first sign a transaction with seed 1. Then I sign this transaction with seed 2. The transaction is valid because it is a 2 out of 3 multisig.
Then I copy the first transaction and signed it with seed 3 this time (instead of seed 2).
So now I have two signed transaction (actually this is the same transaction). Every signature is done offline on my airgapped computer.
What « happened » if I then don’t broadcast this or these two transactions over the internet ? Is it ok ?
6  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Linux vs MacOS/Windows on: July 17, 2023, 04:52:57 PM
Hi,
Just a noob question.
I "created" a Linux air gapped computer to create a multisig wallet with Electrum.
Thus I generated the seed through the Linux version of Electrum.
Will I be able to restore the wallet with electrum on MacOS or Windows or should I necessary reuse a Linux version of Electrum ?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin addresses and UTXOs on: July 14, 2023, 08:40:58 AM
I have a noob question but if I reuse an address it will create a new utxo right ? So I will have two utxos in the same address ?
8  Bitcoin / Electrum / How to check I have the seeds of my multisig 2/3 on: July 11, 2023, 09:37:27 AM
Hello,

I created an electrum 2/3 multisig Wallet on an air-gapped device.
The three seeds are geographically distributed.

I want to verify that I have well written the three seeds.
I have to create a "fake" transaction on electrum then sign it with the first key then export the PSBT then sign it with the second seed ? What about the third seed to check it's correct ?

Is there any other solution to check I own the correct seeds ?
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin addresses and UTXOs on: June 29, 2023, 01:01:26 PM
More clearer !
So regarding a future transaction I should only take into account UTXO and not TXO right ?
Fees will be determined by UTXOs
Any idea how minimum satoshis should a UTXO contain in order to be spendable so that fees don’t exceed the UTXO balance ? maybe fees in the future will be so high ?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin addresses and UTXOs on: June 29, 2023, 07:49:58 AM
In the tab Coins in Electrum and in the tab UTXOs in Sparrow wallet I have only one UTXO
However on the website blockchain.com it's written output count 4 and unspent output count 1
Is ist normal ? What's the difference between output count and unspent output count ?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin addresses and UTXOs on: June 28, 2023, 03:43:36 PM
Hello,

Where can I find the number of UTXOs my receiving address contain ? Is there any website ?

If I reuse an address to receive bitcoin will it count as a second UTXO ?

Thanks,
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Generating offline seed Electrum on: June 22, 2023, 08:37:42 AM
Hi,

I was about to generate an offline seed on, however, the computer which was supposed to be used is running on windows 8.1 and Electrum does not longer support 8.1
I specifically used this computer because its wifi card is dead.

How can I do ? Is is the same if I turn off wifi on a more recent PC ?

Any tips for generating seed offline without buying a new machine ?
13  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multisig with Electrum on: June 08, 2023, 09:58:23 PM
Would you advise me to create the three seeds through the electrum software or through https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ (BIP39) ?
What would you be the pros and cons of each method?
Thanks!
14  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multisig with Electrum on: June 07, 2023, 03:23:33 PM
with a singlesig wallet, I can check my balance on the internet thanks to the pub key.
Will it be the same with a multisig as there will be 3 pub keys instead one ?
By saying "internet", do you mean via blockexplorer?
And by saying "balance", do you mean the entire wallet's balance?
If so, most of them do not accept multiple master public keys to check for transactions of your MultiSig Electrum wallet.
It'll only work on standard wallet's master public key.

Otherwise, just paste your MultiSig address and it'll search just like in SingleSig addresses.

Yes I mean via block explorer.
Yes entire balance

Otherwise, just paste your MultiSig address and it'll search just like in SingleSig addresses.

you mean reception address right ?

17  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Help in Programming bitcoin python module on: May 25, 2023, 09:23:22 PM
Hello,

I would need some help on Python:

I am trying to import helper package on Python with module hash256 like the colored lined of the below code however it’s not working.

from ecc import S256Point, G, N
from helper import hash256
e = int.from_bytes(hash256(b'my secret'), 'big')
z = int.from_bytes(hash256(b'my message'), 'big')
k = 1234567890
r = (k*G).x.num
k_inv = pow(k, N-2, N)
s=(z+r*e)*k_inv%N
point = e*G

print(point) # S256Point(028d003eab2e428d11983f3e97c3fa0addf3b42740df0d211795ffb3be2f6c52, \ 0ae987b9ec6ea159c78cb2a937ed89096fb218d9e7594f02b547526d8cd309e2)
print(hex(z)) # 0x231c6f3d980a6b0fb7152f85cee7eb52bf92433d9919b9c5218cb08e79cce78
print(hex(r)) # 0x2b698a0f0a4041b77e63488ad48c23e8e8838dd1fb7520408b121697b782ef22
print(hex(s)) # 0xbb14e602ef9e3f872e25fad328466b34e6734b7a0fcd58b1eb635447ffae8cb9
Or do you have an idea to do a double sha256 (it is hash256)?

I tried this:

from hashlib import sha256 as h

print(h(h("my secret".encode()).hexdigest().encode()).hexdigest())
It's almost working however the result does not match as it is not starting with 0x.
18  Bitcoin / Electrum / Multisig with Electrum on: May 17, 2023, 11:40:36 AM
Hello,

I am going to create a 2-3 multisig wallet with electrum.

Will I be then able to spend funds with other wallets than Electrum ? Or will my wallet only work with Electrum ?

Many thanks,
Regards
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Multisig and paper wallet on: May 04, 2023, 07:34:34 PM
Hi,

I am interested in creating a 2-3 multisig wallet.

I want to keep things offline but as far as I know I have to write 3 seeds + 3 pub keys.

I can write the 3 seeds on a paper with a pen but what about the pub keys Huh
Too many characters and a huge risk of mistyping.

Any solution/idea ?
