Yes it it really slow... actually it all depends from ethereum network. Yes now it have problems with scalability.

Also you can use Waves for creation new coins just in few clicks. If you idea is nice you can do it. But it will be quite difficult.

With mobile phone that gives 5 hashs you can earn 1$ in month, if you will mine 24 hours in day.
With good laptop with 25 hashs you can earn 5$ in month.

This is useless for solo mining. But if you can do some project or some game and few thousands of people will play into it you can earn normal money. Maybe even 5000$ in months. But you can earn also with different methods if you find thousands of people

Anyway I like idea of captcha with mining! If google will do from their recapthca mining captha, they can earn millions and millions!

Don't worry about it. ICO is is new trend. ICOs populating cryptocurrencies to many of people.
So everybody will receive profit of this. This is history that is happening now! 

When time just past everything will calm down. And in my opinion next coil of revolution is ICO on decentralised platforms.

There is good statistic about what is going with coins after ICO.
When bounty participants receive award many of them selling it. Price goind down. After 1-3 month price of altcoins rising up 2-3x. And then in future more and more.

So usually if project successful you can see this picture.

But this is not active coin there are now exchanges.
Only Cryptopia but trading almost zero.
