1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto exchange CEO’s daughter fights off brazen kidnappers in Paris on: May 15, 2025, 03:41:37 PM
I also agree that it should all be cumulated in one thread. This issue of kidnapping crypto big boys is becoming a saddening trend and it's looking as if since nothing is being done about it, it will continue till someone loses their lives(I hope it doesn't come to that.)
I don't know if this is another way of fighting crypto currencies because I don't understand why something has not been done about the is matter since if I'm not mistaken, this should be about the third or fourth case of cryptocurrencies and kidnap in relationships to France. I mean, what are the authorities doing to ensure that the lives of these individuals are safe?
For me I don't think it's just a matter of the victims not being able to keep quiet about their crypto holdings but more of a reason that as none of these perpetrators have been made an example of, it has somehow emboldened the others and they can make their research and know who is who in the crypto world and continue their evil deeds.

I quite agree with you on your take of seeing a new ATH in the next few weeks being that there have being strong moves in the market. With Twenty One Capital purchasing a huge chunk of Bitcoin, precisely $458m worth of it, I'm sure this move will push other investors to dive in and as such, this will see us experiencing a surge. I'm predicting BTC new ATH to fall at $125k but it might exceed it though.

I too think it will go further than that - 150k-170k would be my take, but we will see about that through this year.
I'm not surprised or won't be surprised if this push in price will make so many excited to the point that they will begin having bigger expectations concerning it's price but let's also consider the fact that inasmuch as it shot up to $100k+, it can also fall rapidly so for me, $150-170k is pushing it a bit. (That's if it's where you're seeing BTC price to hit in the upcoming weeks, though).

Admittedly, Mbappe is a good goal scorer and has increased his tally to 28, but his performance today was less than satisfactory. Believe me, the game should have produced more than the three goals we saw if not that Madrid were seeing their chances taken off by the Mallorca keeper, Leo Roman. Personally, he should have been awarded the man of the match.
Madrid could not fully utilize their chances and would have lost if not for the intervention of Mbappe and Jacobo Ramon who gave them the lead in the dying minutes since Mallorca's defense was very weak. TBH, I wonder how the visitors were able to take the lead when they found it hard to control or hold possession of the ball for two minutes.
As it stands, Barcelona are the winners but I think their next game will determine if they get crowned the champions or they will have to wait till the last day.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the best advise to give to a poor person to be rich? on: May 14, 2025, 09:56:04 AM

What is the best advise to give to a poor person to elevate him or her?

The best advice I'd give is, do not be wasteful. There's the saying that goes "little drops of water makes a mighty ocean" and for some one who is lacking the resources to grow to a state where they can take care of themselves comfortably, they don't need to be wasteful or take things for granted because most of these billionaires we see today came from nothing and aside from making investments, they also believed in the logic of economizing.
I know that to an extent, being an economist means you should be stingy on yourself but the thing is this; when you learn to differentiate between a want and a need, you'd have been able to solve a problem because sometimes people don't grow financially because they haven't understood the difference between want and needs.

Bitcoin ATH is coming as we predicted and it will happen is some weeks to come. I do not know much about altcoins but they will rise and fall as usual. I still think that bitcoin is still going to at least $139000 but it may not increase more than $150000. I can be wrong but it is from my analyses.

6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2024/2025 on: May 13, 2025, 10:42:42 PM

I'm enjoying every match features in the English Premier League this season, it's entertaining and rewarding. What do you need this season to win a game? Mikel Arteta have strive hard enough to achieve his goals but I don't think he's making any important moves since becoming headcoach for Arsenal. He raised the club from bottom to the very top and we know how good that record have been created for the club. Arsenal and Newcastle United found themselves in the competitive race of top four this season. Both clubs have been figuring out golden opportunities to explore their winnings, they wouldn't settle for anything lesser this season, always coming up with greater plans to excel this season.

I will not say that Arteta raised Arsenal from the ground up because it's not like the Gunners were a bottom placed team. I feel that if the coach can focus on what he's lacking, which is to get a striker, 80% of their problem would have been solved. Secondly, Arteta should learn from Guardiola. The City coach has a spare player for all the wings and finds a way to alternate them so that if the first choice gets injured, there would be replacements but what I noticed about Arsenal is that they prefer to dwell with one and when these players fall injured, it burdens the team. Take when Saka was out for instance, also see how Saliba is struggling in the absence of Gabriel.
Right now, Arsenal need to make sure they qualify for champions league next season because at this rate they are in a precarious state with Man City closing in on them. Another season that they missed out on winning the trophy but that doesn't mean that Arteta didn't do a good job because they are amongst the teams with fewer losses but what would have been more better was if they had won the EPL or are in the final for the champions league.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin @104k Yet Bitcoin Haters Are Silent. on: May 13, 2025, 09:25:41 PM
During the last bitcoin dip I came across a lot of funny post and comments on social media where bitcoin haters were mocking bitcoin investors, some of them were saying things like if you invested in bitcoin you need to check your BP and some other crazy things which are discouraging to investors especially the new investors. Since bitcoin rose from 94k to the current price of 104k, I am yet to see those bitcoin haters updating their status or twitting about the current price of bitcoin just the way they made fun of bitcoin investors during the dip.

My question is this, why is it that haters of bitcoin are always happy when the price of bitcoin is down? Is there something that bitcoin is depriving them cause even your closest friends will make mockery of you if they notice that you are an investor when the price is down but they will never say a word once they notice otherwise, I am curious to know.
Haters always need something to hate about and when Bitcoin price spikes upwards, there's nothing for them to yap about that's why they usually wait and hope that it would go down so they can say "I told you so".
You can't please everyone so that even when Satoshi created Bitcoin with the aim of proffering financial independence of sorts to people, there's still those individuals who will regard it as poison and a virus that has come to corrupt and tilt the balance that fiat has created.
Bitcoin is on a forward motion so I think critics will have to swallow their pride and accept what's going on now.

For the first time in a long while, this is the first time I'm enjoying an El Clasico game. It was massive. It was intense and full of intrigue. Normally, with the fact that there was that massive number of goals In the first half, I thought that the action would be dulled down in the second half but Barca kept pushing and it was very obvious that they were ready to make Madrid pay(for what offense, I don't know) and still enjoy themselves in the process.
With this loss, I think it's safe to say that Madrid have lost their chance of winning the Laliga and Hans Flick would be on his way to win his second trophy in his first season as coach of Barcelona.

It's a bit funny when I see users who come back here after a long hiatus and begin giving reasons for their absence and one of them being that they weren't given much attention or their posts were not receiving the merits they thought was deserving and then when you look carefully at the said posts, you find that either they are below par or they are just spams because I don't understand how you expect merits for such when you're clearly not doing something that should get you the merits and the fact that the Op felt it was necessary to add the lack of receipts of merits as his reasons for not being around, I now wonder why he's back.

But even so, at least they managed to regain the 3rd position which was taken by Girona last season, although it cannot be denied that they have only been specialists in the 3rd position until now, even though there are several things they have done, especially in recruiting players, but it seems that it is still not enough for Atletico to develop.

I know that they are being consoled with the third position and at least they get to play in the champions league next season but all this performance by them and especially Alexander Sorloth seems to go to waste because firstly, it is towards the tail end of the season and they couldn't do anything when they met the likes of Barcelona or Madrid. At least with such a brilliant display of confidence, these sides would show some respect, especially Madrid but nothing, instead they unleash their wrath on a mediocre club like Real sociedad.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling not trust worthy on: May 10, 2025, 11:09:49 PM
Most gambling sites often advise gamblers to gamble responsibly and when you remove playing for fun out of the equation, you'd then get users who have put it in their heads that gambling is supposed to be a means to escape poverty or hardship. Definitely, the ratio at which you win over how you lose is always in favor of the loss but you can limit how you lose too.
Most people who use gambling as a pastime often know when you stop and just like the first respondent replied, if you have accumulated more loss then wins, you better stop so you don't get depressed.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2024/25 on: May 10, 2025, 10:56:13 PM
Seriously, if Atletico Madrid had played their other games the way they did this one I'm sure that they would have been farther up than they are now in third place. They literally demolished Real sociedad in less than three minutes interval and believe me when I say that I didn't see that coming because I expected much of a fight from the visitors than this but Alexander Sorloth was out for them.
Real sociedad would have climbed up to tenth spot had they won tonight but for now, I think they will find it hard to get further up because they've got the likes of CELTA, Girona and Madrid to play and these fixtures won't be easy ones for them.

Let's have a look at the remaining league fixtures except the El Clasico for Barcelona and Real Madrid:

For Barcelona:

- Espanyol (A)
- Villarreal (H)
- Athletic Bilbao (A)

For Real Madrid:

- Mallorca (H)
- Sevilla (A)
- Real Sociedad (H)

Barcelona seem to have a little more difficult games in general. Because of Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao. However... The result of El Clasico will be really critical. In case of a win for them, they can make the title official as long as they don't lose points against Espanyol.  Smiley
I feel that those games Barcelona has will not really be difficult because they will want to use the fact that they are no longer in the champions league competition to power through their remaining games. Barcelona won the Copa del Rey and will want to win the Laliga too so these games especially the ones against Bilbao and Villarreal might look tough but I believe Hans Flick and his men that they can get the victory.
Bilbao are more or less an average team by the standard of Barca but I know that when it comes to title race, teams would try to show a bit of stubbornness but Barcelona have proven that the squad they've got are capable and can deliver.

19  Economy / Speculation / Re: $200,000 again? on: May 09, 2025, 10:07:04 AM

Bitcoin will definitely hit $150k or $200k or even higher but when that happens, that's what people care about. Like the 2021 bull run, many were confident and predicted that bitcoin would hit $100k, but it took another 4 years for us to reach that goal. Not to mention, remember that bitcoin went from its lowest bottom ($15k) to $100k, which is a 6x increase in this cycle and not a small return. So there is nothing wrong, and it is perfectly reasonable for people to set modest and cautious goals.
Yeah I think the Op needs to read this because to him $150-200k is a wild, unachievable dream that wishful thinkers just got their heads wrapped up in. As long as we've haven't reached the maximum supply of Bitcoin, we should bear in mind that more records would be broken.

Quote
Bitcoin could hit $150k or $200k this cycle but that would be a difficult task, nothing is certain.
That's for sure. Like I said that Bitcoin is a volatile asset so there's possibility to experience fluctuations in price and other activities like the resumption of the tariffs, inflation and a black swan event could all stop Bitcoin from achieving the desired goal.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: $200,000 again? on: May 08, 2025, 06:33:18 PM
I wonder why it should be a miracle if Bitcoin hits $150 or 200K because I'm very sure that it can happen just as $100k which no one thought could happen as at 5 to 6 years ago did happen.Bitcoin has beat so many odds and the fact that it is still breaking and surpassing expectations, I believe this amount we are seeing is just a start of something good. Who knows, we may see a new ATH before this month runs out.
Bitcoin is a volatile asset but that doesn't mean that speculators won't have a positive mindset towards it, so I don't blame Matt Hougan if he expresses some. At least this $100k+ will put new hope into the minds of those who are already holding.
