1  Economy / Services / Re: Anonymous crypto loadable bitcoin debit card - No KYC - Private Card Services on: September 25, 2023, 08:59:13 AM
I have entered into a deal with AlexPCS through a trusted escrow. Will post an update / review once I receive the card.

Update 1:
The deal went well. The package has been received, the contents are as described and it works as expected. The instructions for setup/login were clear enough to get everything going in under an hour.

Successfully tested and working:
- Login to account via app and associated SIM card
- Loading balance on card via crypto as per provided instructions
- Purchases in physical stores (POS payments)
- ATM withdrawal
- Online purchases in card's native currency where no billing address is required

Still to be tested:
- Online purchases in a non-native currency
- Online purchases where a billing address needs to be provided

Thanks @AlexPCS for this deal and thanks to @Hhampuz for providing a trusted escrow service!
Will provide more updates after longer usage of the product.

Update 2:
I would like to report that after one year of successful experience, I have extended the service for the next year. The card service and support works as advertised.

With reference to the quoted message above, I would like to report that:
- Online purchases in a non-native currency: WORKS
- Online purchases where a billing address needs to be provided: WORKS
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be a trap? on: June 25, 2023, 12:44:39 PM
Is of no doubt the market has already turned green and ETH surpasses 1.9k, though I was having this feeling to enter the market now that we have full confidence that we are no longer going dip. But I am a bit confused if this could be a bear trap, what do you think of the market is there any good analyst to give accurate results on what would happen next or to know if this is a bear trap.

I might be wrong but I think you got 'bull trap' and 'bear trap' wrong. AFAIK a bear trap would be where bears get trapped. In your case you're talking about bulls getting trapped and hence this would be a 'bull trap'.
Again, I might be wrong but others can confirm.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I Recover my loss of crypto on this platform? on: June 25, 2023, 12:41:23 PM
Hay, I am New here and know about Bitcoin for the last few years but I lost many times in crypto trading. So my question is that how to trade Securely and profitably? And what are the rules and regulations for me that must follow this platform recommended some close ones will say you will learn from this platform so much and I hope to recover from the loss and get a lot of benefits and knowledge gain that is why I am very excited to hear.

Please spend some time on the forum and learn as much as possible to avoid making same mistakes in trading again.
And no matter what you do, make sure not to indulge in revenge-trading (don't try to over-trade in order to win back the money you lost).

I wasn't aware of this site until now. Looks like an obvious scam.
Why would they give you a 30,000 BTC wallet for just $10,000 if it was that easy to guess/crack the password? Don't you think someone who is running the site has less brute-force capability than common folks like you and me?
5  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Marketplace for Digital Products on: June 25, 2023, 12:25:05 PM

6  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IMF calls for the regulation of cryptocurrency on: June 25, 2023, 12:19:22 PM
Finally some sensible words coming out of their mouth.
I wonder why it took so long for them to realise this isn't their run-of-the-mill printed central bank currency.
7  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Old Electrum wallet - 3.0.6 on: June 24, 2023, 04:32:06 AM
I would second the above suggestion by rat03gopoh.

Although if you have any specific reason for not upgrading and want to use latest active servers, here's the list:
https://1209k.com/bitcoin-eye/ele.php

You can go into your Electrum settings and choose a server manually and enter a servers chosen from above list.

"I have promised myself that I will be focusing my time and efforts on building my own future instead of trying to convince someone who makes the fashionable mistake of labelling everything they don't understand as scam."
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Privacy Is a Human Right in the 21st Century on: June 24, 2023, 04:14:40 AM
I agree that privacy is a fundamental human right (in all centuries, not just 21st century). But the governments don't like this and the surveillance is becoming more and more intrusive with each passing day. This don't just include oppressive regimes like China but also democracies like India.

Funnily enough, I remember a news from last year when Indian government (one of the largest democracies) ruled that VPN companies have to collect and maintain all kinds of personally identifiable data about their users! Most reputed companies either stopped catering to Indian users or switched to virtual Indian servers located outside Indian jurisdiction.

Quote
Under the new directions, Mint reported that VPN providers are required to store validated customer names, their physical addresses, email ids, phone numbers, and the reason they are using the service, along with the dates they use it and their “ownership pattern”. In addition to that, the government is also asking VPN providers to keep a record of users’ IP addresses and their email used to register the service, along with the timestamp of registration. Further, VPN providers are also required to maintain a list of all IP addresses issued to a customer and the IP addresses that their customers generally use.

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Address(es) on: July 23, 2022, 05:03:25 AM
While having an address that is unique to your characteristics may sound cool, it also makes you re-use this address for multiple transactions over a really long period of time. As everyone would agree, this is a privacy issue and one needs to take it into consideration before making a decision. As best practice one should never use an address twice.

13  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 19, 2022, 03:41:34 PM
-snip- Does anyone know if there's a newer version or a similar program that creates a segwit address (that starts with bc1)?
VanitySearch can.
And it's relatively faster than Vanitygen/Oclvanitygen and has Nvidia GPU support.

Vanitysearch thread: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5112311.0
Github Repository: github.com/JeanLucPons/VanitySearch

Thank you so much! The fact that this program uses GPU makes a lot of difference. It created a lot more addresses in significantly less time!

However since this is an old program, it creates non-segwit addresses. Does anyone know if there's a newer version or a similar program that creates a segwit address (that starts with bc1)?

Check these thread,
segvan: Segwit vanity address & bulk address generator.
narcissist - easy peasy vanity addresses - bech32 - split key

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I was looking for. narcissist program looks cool.
16  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 18, 2022, 12:37:59 PM
This is very cool, I downloaded and tried creating a bunch of vanity addresses. As long as the prefix is short, it creates an address in a matter of seconds on a regular computer.

However since this is an old program, it creates non-segwit addresses. Does anyone know if there's a newer version or a similar program that creates a segwit address (that starts with bc1)?
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help needed with Blockchain.com, please? on: July 16, 2022, 08:16:50 AM
You are not required to do LYC if you're only using their wallet to send/receive funds.

LYC = Lick Your Customer? Cheesy

This anti money laundering stuff is getting out of hand, man. Grin

Hahaha.... I meant KYC. Thanks, I had a good laugh. I have corrected the typo now. Cheesy
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to lose your Bitcoins with CTRL-C CTRL-V on: July 16, 2022, 07:57:51 AM
I would like to add a tip here to avoid copy-paste errors and clipboard highjack scams. Instead of using CTRL+C and CTRL+V to copy paste the Bitcoin address, do this -

Select the address with mouse, then click-and-drag it to where you want to paste it.

This will act like a regular copy-paste, but no clipboard is involved.

20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help needed with Blockchain.com, please? on: July 16, 2022, 07:24:48 AM
Hi, over the years I have opened various accounts with Blockchain.com ....never sold or bought via their exchange....just imported private keys/BTC from cold storage & then sent them on wherever I wanted. Today I went online and it said the verification rules had changed & I needed to verify my account, but because I have multiple accounts it wouldn't let me verify the ones I tried. Now, after reading some threads online, I think verification is only needed if you want to trade on their exchange and isn't needed for storing BTC or sending it to a third party. Does anyone know if this is correct? TIA.

You are not required to do KYC if you're only using their wallet to send/receive funds.
However it is not recommended to use an online wallet to do this, because your private key is exposed to internet and this might be susceptible to hacks. Instead I would recommend you to -
--> Download a reliable desktop wallet like Electrum
--> Import your private keys into it
--> Generate a new wallet / address
--> Transfer all funds to this new address
--> Use this Electrum wallet to do all your future transactions
