1  Other / Off-topic / The future of transportation on: April 22, 2024, 03:29:13 PM
Picture a taxis in the foreseeable future. Most of its manual controls conveniently and neatly hidden or outrightly taken out. The seats would be able to swirl around and facing each other. The vehicle would be fully automatic and self driven(the tech for self driving cars would likely have been perfected then) and it would be for the most part, safe.

If and perhaps, when these self driving cars fully become a thing and gets fused in and used in the transportation system. It might just go a long way, having some effect on transportation and in general, vehicular moment.

If this catches on, as it very well might, it could lead to less cars on the road as people might find it more convenient than to own and maintain a car when you could call for a taxi and have a self driving car pull-up to your door.

You wouldn’t have to put up with irrelevant and sometimes, unwanted chit chat with a driver. Just input your destination, sit back and enjoy the ride alone or together with some friends or whoever.

I would love to know your thoughts on this.

You’re mainly right. If you vouch for a person, then you’re letting people know you trust that person and can attest to their actions. It doesn’t necessarily mean you agree to take on the responsibility for the actions of that person.

If you vouch for someone, you also put your reputation on the line as that person would not ordinarily be taken serious without your word. And if the person takes a loan with the help of your influence and doesn’t pay back, you won’t be held liable to repay the loan. Unless of course you initially agreed to pay if the debtor doesn’t pay.

You could also offer to willingly pay back the loan in order to protect your reputation cause when next you’re vouching for someone, People may not be that willing to accept just your word.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why mega threads always be kept open on: February 24, 2024, 02:28:19 AM
I would say a lot of people try to spam by creating threads asking a question that has been already asked and can be easily found if the OP would go out of his way to use the search button. After opening such a thread, they wouldn’t be bothered to reply/ engage with other members who are only too happy to give their opinions/answers on the thread.
The topic won’t be locked cause the OP has long  moved on and likely busy opening another spammy thread, again asking questions that have been asked a thousand times.
Some mega threads on the gambling board aren’t actually spammy as the discussions on sports would be ongoing as games are being played.

Some members have already pointed out that this topic isn’t actually gambling related.

You won’t have a more preferred one than the other as people have different thoughts and preferences. It primarily has to do with the couple getting married. They would plan and decide on what would best suit them both.
There are cases where the breadwinner makes enough money to comfortably pay off expenses and bills, save some and also put in a decent amount towards retirement. And despite that, the other spouse still works.
It all has to do with the preference of the couple and what they think would work best for their marriage.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 28, 2023, 09:10:54 PM
It's an overwhelming and a  shocking poor performance by Spurs tonight in that first half. It's high time the young players on the bench be giving a chance to prove capabilities and skills. The midfield and defense of Tottenham tonight is really lagging behind in this game getting out-runned  by the Brighton's players all of the time.  If it continues this way on the second half more goals will be conceded by Tottenham.

It’s quite shocking to witness such a poor performance from Tottenham as they’ve now conceded 4 goals. Having just committed a foul inside the box, Brighton was awarded another penalty that has now given them the 4th goal in this game.
This game seems to be over for Spurs as it wouldn’t be easy to come back from this. I don’t see much chance of Spurs coming back from this. Son couldn’t do nothing for his team as they’re suffering a humiliating loss from Brighton.

9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: December 16, 2023, 11:06:28 AM
It is true what you say,but this can happen to someone who was not addicted to gambling before marriage. If one was addicted to it before he gets married, there is nothing responsibility can ever do about it.The reason they call it addiction is because it is very hard to stop. How do you think the family can make some one who has been an addict to gambling stop? When he is looking for more money to take care of his family's needs and the needs of his baby or wife, instead, the habbit will increase more because he really wants to meet up the needs of the family.
But you can easily change if you weren't really addicted to gambling before settling down.

I believe a person addicted to gambling even before settling down and getting married can still change his habit and quit gambling. Responsibility has a way of changing people. Obviously, not everyone can become responsible just by settling down. That’s when the spouse in the relationship has a good influence on the behavior of the man.
I know with an addiction, it’s very difficult to stop but it’s still very possible to quit. And with an understanding and loving spouse, the man, if he values his family would do anything possible to keep the family together including striving hard to quit his gambling habit.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: December 15, 2023, 09:44:39 PM
Agree with you on this. Responsibility can help us reshape ourselves into our better version. Not true for everyone but most of the times when a man marries he takes up his family responsibilities without any hesitations. Especially the older child does this. Taking care for his families, making daily needs, having a roof under he and his families becomes the main concern. Whatever the things he did in the past before marriages, doesn't concern him anymore. As for gambling habits, it vanishes with time because he has a family to take care of. Family always comes first in term of priority.

Having responsibilities in the form of a family can really change a man. It doesn’t always happen but commitment in the form of marriage could give the man a sense of responsibility and could help mend his ways.
Even with gambling, a man that gambles before he gets married may reduce or outrightly quit the habit due to his new found responsibilities that would help curb any bad habits he may have had. Like you rightly wrote, family should always comes first and is always a priority in the life of a man.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: December 15, 2023, 06:37:32 PM
In this case if I answer your question then the first answer will be first of all you should take gambling as only purpose of entertainment not for the main purpose is to be earning. Then I wanna say that set a limitation that can be a gambling budget for a days or for a week or month. Keep in mind that if you cross over this budget, you will have to stop gambling for the day.  Moreover, of course, gambling should not be greedy.

You’ve got a point. I think if you’re someone who gambles a considerable lot, it would be safer if you made a budget for your gambling activities and strive to keep to it. That’s the best way on how to comfortably manage your finances so you won’t go over indulging yourself with gambling activities.
Starting with a week and slowly increasing to two weeks to a month, the budget would get easier to stick to and discipline would then set in.
Greed for more money can also make someone play using money not budgeted for such activities.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Learn to use DEBT in a proper way to create asset on: December 15, 2023, 06:19:54 PM
The example you gave shows exactly how loans taken from the bank or from family and friends is being put to good and proper use.
Good debt and bad debt? You don’t have bad debts as a borrower, you incur bad debts as a lender giving out loans that won’t be paid back. That’s bad debt.
Loans are majorly taken out to help solve an emergency or for business purposes. If you end up spending the loan on irrelevant things, that’s a choice purposefully made knowing the loan has to be paid back.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: December 15, 2023, 05:58:24 PM
There’s a lot of suicide incidents happened in the past in relation to gambling, and the casinos and regulation should do something for this or else the numbers will continue to grow.

The problem lies majorly with us, the individuals who partake in gambling as an activity. What would you have these casinos and regulation bodies do to reduce the rate of suicide in the society due to gambling activities? They already advised you to gamble responsibly; it’s not their fault people fail to heed to their advice.
Perhaps, a campaign on the negative aspects of gambling should be regularly held to discuss with citizens about the dangers and how it affects peoples lives and homes.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid paying high fees by Making fewer transactions advice newbie on: December 15, 2023, 05:35:54 PM
Your advice on how to avoid paying high fees for bitcoin transactions is not to make any transactions. That advice isn’t really useful and it doesn’t seem to be a solution for people who still want to make bitcoin transactions.

Your goals for long term bitcoin accumulation may not be the same goals of the next person. Although a lot of bitcoin holders may have plans to hold their coins, a good number of them use their coins for anonymous and other transactions.
There are some free and paid services that helps in accelerating your transactions. A list of such services would be more helpful.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 15, 2023, 05:09:08 PM
I admit that I still use banks to save my money, and I still use fiat money to buy stuff since crypto is not yet accepted in our place.
Honestly, the use of cryptocurrency isn't fully accepted in our country which is us crypto holders to convert it into fiat and save it in the bank. For now, banks are the best option to keep my funds as I was afraid of keeping them online knowing that hackers have been aggressive at least having it kept in the banks gives me some confidence.

Cryptocurrency is not accepted in majority of countries and banks are still very important today. They’re still important as they’re there to help manage and keep customers money safe. Loving bitcoin and pushing for its growth doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use fiat. After all, it’s what being widely acceptable and used in the exchange of goods and services.

Banks, along with fiat currency is what almost everyone uses. Including bitcoin holders.
Banks are probably the best place to safeguard your money as keeping large deposits of money on your person and at home is extremely risky.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: December 15, 2023, 04:08:02 PM
It is pretty true. It is not a wise decision to make gambling be the main job because we can't expect to earn money constantly in gambling. Most gambling games are based on the luck, it is very difficult to always win in the games. Although we already played the games for many years, there will be always no guarantee to win them. Sure, experienced gambler must have better chances to win, but it doesn't mean guarantee the wins. Because of this uncertainty, it is better to gamble as a side activity. Or to make gambling just for fun activity. Don't try to rely for monthly income from gambling, it is a very high risky!

It’s not a wise decision to make gambling a source of income because gambling as an activity isn’t a job and while there is an opportunity to win some money sometimes, the wins aren’t consistent and you don’t know when you’re going to win some money. The uncertainty of when there’s going to be a win rules out any possibility of using gamble as a source where some income can be earned.
Better to play for fun and relaxation than to play in an attempt to look for a way to earn money.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the rich win gambling more than the poor. on: December 15, 2023, 02:11:27 PM
What I think is that in gambling platform both rich and poor people have a chance to win here luck is needed as well as the rich have money. The rich can easily place large bets but the poor cannot succeed in life the poor have to experience the ups and downs. They are afraid to pour more money into the gambling platform. Compared to the rich they are much safer and do not lack money. The rich get a lot of money once they win a bet and understand the betting strategies.

The rich also experience the ups and downs when it comes to gambling. They too do experience defeats and losses on their bets but most times, they wouldn’t be affected by the loss.
They’re rightly concerned about putting money from the meagre amount earned into gambling when they’re more likely to lose that money. Better to utilize it on something better.
The rich don’t have that financial restriction as they’ve got enough money to bet consistently or to stake a bet with high amount periodically.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: December 14, 2023, 07:34:36 PM
Yes Liverpool do not want to take a bigger risk for their regular players, they also have to compete again in the Premier League at the weekend to maintain their position, therefore they must win and relieve their main players, so with this result it will not be a problem for Liverpool even if they lose.

At the moment Liverpool are losing 2-1 only in the first half of possession the ball is still in favor only one shot they gave, this I think the regular players will play at least 20 minutes towards the end of the match but that will not be many regular players who enter of course Jurgen Klopp will maintain with a sober game.

Maybe in the second half there is still hope of turning things around.

The game is almost over. About a minute left and whatever time the referee decides to add as addiction time. Liverpool is running out of time to score and equalize.
Their opponents on the other hand is defending their goal like crazy. They just can’t afford to concede a last minute goal at this point and draw the game. USG has played impressively and given a little surprise to everyone who thought Liverpool would come out having an easy win in this game.
19  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 14, 2023, 07:07:06 PM
People are easily influenced when the one doing the promoting is famous and well known. They’re going to be interested when they see their no.1 celebrity promoting a project.
Most times, these success stories can be formulated and even exaggerated by scammers looking to attract people to part with a little bit of money and have a success story of your own. And sadly, people fall into the trap in chasing their own big win and success story.
It all falls down to doing some serious research whenever you’re wanting to part with money for a new project or investment.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 13, 2023, 11:57:23 PM
Having cryptocurrency doesn’t take away the usefulness of banks. And going through your thread, it almost seems you’re pitting cryptocurrencies against banks and fiat. Cryptocurrencies doesn’t need any of that as banks and fiat doesn’t need any help showing how vulnerable they’re to inflation and the rest.

You write about banks not being reliable. Yet, almost everyone own and operate a bank account. Why? Cause fiat is still very much in use today.
How then are you going to make purchases and send money for small purchases? A lot of people still use the banks despite it being untrustworthy.
