1  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 25, 2023, 07:23:01 PM
The funny thing is that this kind of neutral status is a sure sign of cowardice.

These things usually happen. The coward who writes from an alt account speaks of cowardice.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do with bitcoin? on: April 25, 2023, 05:13:44 AM
In my case I will continue to accumulate, but I will probably do some small selling in the next bull run when the price is well above $100K.

Investing in bitcoin must be done with patience and holding the investment for many years to come. The longer you hold it without selling or continuing to accumulate, the more you will profit. The problem is that it is mentally very difficult not to realize any profit for many years. That's why I think it's better to take advantage of the bull markets to partially sell and enjoy the rewards, just as you can take advantage of the bear markets to reload more. Recently when the price was below $20K it was a great opportunity to reload, and at these levels it still is. And if you don't want to mess around, DCA with the same amount at regular intervals and that's it.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is hodling top 10 Marketcap coins a good tactic? on: April 25, 2023, 05:02:31 AM
Since OP's last update 24.10.2021, he lost an amount of his investment as all of these top 10 coins had dived down.

What this thread shows is that only bitcoin is worth investing in, and if you want to bet on any altcoins, do it with a small percentage, I would say a maximum of 15% of your holdings. BTC is a safe bet, altcoins are more uncertain, and if you want to bet, I wouldn't get hung up on CMC's top ten, it's almost better to take one or a few altcoins that you think can multiply by a lot in a short time, like 50x or more in a year at most.

4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SPORTSBET.io accuse me with multi accounting and DONT PAY MY WINNINGS on: April 24, 2023, 02:34:29 PM
I don't doubt what you say, as I have no way of checking things but I doubt very much that a house like sportsbet.io would make up an accusation of multi-accounting just like that. Bookmakers like that one make a lot of money without needing to make up accusations against their customers.

At least they want to refund your deposit.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Argentina Central Bank Running Out of US Dollars. Bitcoin as a Solution? on: April 24, 2023, 04:52:11 AM
The solution to the problem is for the Argentine government to stop spending beyond its means and to stop populist policies, but that is not going to happen, and certainly not overnight.

The best solution to high inflation would be to nip it in the bud, avoiding what is causing it, and not try to put out the fires with dollars while continuing to ignite them.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin support for various essential tasks. on: April 24, 2023, 04:21:29 AM
All of us on the forum need money at one point or another. There are times when money is needed for a special task, but one does not have cash. Then it is not possible to meet that need by trying different ways, but if someone keeps investing in crypto, then it is possible to meet that need by selling some amount from that investment money at the time of special need. Especially since I needed a lot of money a few days ago but there was no money anywhere except crypto funds. Then I bought some bitcoins to meet my needs and I remembered that and I thought that now I have to sell bitcoins to solve my money problem.
I needed money so much that I ended up having to sell some bitcoins from my bitcoin investment. Due to the financial crisis, I had to sell Bitcoin without any other option, but I am grateful to Bitcoin. If I didn't have Bitcoin invested today, I might not be able to solve my money problem. If ever we face a financial problem, Bitcoin comes to the side to solve that necessary problem. And I think this is a special kind of support of Bitcoin for crypto investors.
 So much love for Bitcoin.

Well, I am not going to congratulate you as many who have responded have done. In other words, you have no money, you need money and you have to sell the little BTC you have. Well, in this case you are grateful to bitcoin as you could be grateful to anything you could have used to get the money, such as a stamp collection. If selling that stamp collection would have given you the money you needed, you would now be grateful to the stamp collection.

Honestly, I don't see how Bitcoin help you.

Me neither

It is the money that you saved in form of Bitcoin. I believe the same event will happen if you saved your money even if you don't convert it in BTC.

Exactly. In money, stamps, gold or whatever.

7  Economy / Services / Re: $500 - 2500 PER WEEK 💸 NO MONEY NEEDED TO GET SARTED on: April 23, 2023, 02:34:58 PM
OK, so you can earn a lot of money, with no initial investment and in an easy way. On top of that we have to give you our ID.

It sounds to me like a scam or collaboration in something illegal.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will never own a whole Bitcoin and that's okay on: April 23, 2023, 02:00:31 PM
I agree with the general idea of the responses.  One should not become obsessed with owning 1 BTC. It is a round figure that fascinates many of us because of its present value and possible future value, but everyone should acquire as much or as litte as they can, as they are sure to be better off in the future if they have accumulated some BTC than if they have not.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Act as a Business Consultant and Provide Counsel on this Issue on: April 23, 2023, 01:45:12 PM
Should she go ahead with the business, since she said it is serving as a side hustle or should she not even venture into it considering that she has no experience and even though she may be able to pay off the debt from her main job, her lack of experience may cause the business to fail ?

Of course she shouldn't. In other words, she wants to do it backwards from the way it should be done. She does not know the market and has no financing, so the most likely scenario is the busines won't work. On top of that, if you say that she has debts, although you don't specify, I imagine that they will be consumer debts. If she came to ask me for money, I wouldn't give her a penny.

Business, even if it is a side hustle, should be done just the opposite way. Do it on something that you not only know very well, but that you are passionate about, and if possible start with very little capital from your own pocket and little by little as the business is running you grow more and more.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: February 18, 2023, 10:19:23 AM
Simulation for BTC1 bet:

EV = (83% x -BTC1) + (17% x BTC11) = +BTC1.04

Edit: calculation corrected, credit to Saint-loup

Correct, if the payout for correctly guessing the dice roll is x12 of your stake, while the odds of winning are 1 in 6, then the expected value can be calculated as follows:

EV = (1/6) * 12 - (5/6) * 1 = 1 - 5/6 = 1/6

The positive expected value suggests that over the long term, you would be expected to make a profit by taking this bet. However, in the short term, there is a high likelihood that you will lose your bet.

1 - will you take that bet?

It depends, but in general yes. It pays to place EV+ bets, despite short-term volatility.

2 - if so, what % of your available funds would you put at stake (i.e. funds you're willing to gamble and afford to lose)?

I like to be conservative. About 2% I think.

You are just like millions of Americans who don't see what's really going on. Or you are a banker who has been brainwashed. No problem. Having faith is a good thing. Believe what you want to believe.

God is in your life even if you have no faith. However, nobody can be alive with absolutely zero faith.

Banking has finally figured out a way to keep banks from failing.

The nonsense has a simpler mathematical explanation. Since the 2007 crisis many banks failed, the smaller and weaker ones. That does not mean that it is impossible for any of them to fail, but it is much more difficult. In addition, central bank policies help them.

P2PECS, a perfect example of somebody who doesn't what to know how it works.

I do understand it, and that's why I don't believe what you say. We are in a forum that was born in good measure against the banking system. Just as this that I just said is true, what you say mixes truth and falsehood and some statements are outright lies.

Actually, it's happening right now. Lots of people default on so-called loans. It doesn't hurt the bank at all.

You have no fucking clue.

I don't know which is more pathetic, the OP's nonsense or the other guy asking for a one liner.

The nonsense mixes correct ideas with incorrect ideas, as it usually happens with this kind of arguments, because if they were clamorously incorrect nobody would believe them.

But because of the wording on the paperwork, what you really did was to prepay your loan, just like you can pay your car off early.[/size]

Ehhh no. So what follows is incorrect as well.

Sorry about not being brief. For people who don't understand any of this, it can't be brief.

For those of us who understand it, it's clear that it's too long on purpose.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We knew it! US SANCTIONS CAN BE AVOIDED BY USING BITCOIN… Awesome! on: September 25, 2022, 08:05:59 AM
Bitcoin was designed to be free, not fast.

This is forgotten by many people.

Some countries already know that, such as turkey and Russia and Ukraine. I expect bitcoin adoption to grow in the next years, specially this kind of usage (to avoid sanctions, to make anonymous payments,  remittances,  etc)

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years. On the one hand, BTC has moved away from the original idea of P2P in the last years, as well as from the electronic cash system idea, being used by many people as an investment, instead of making payments, and not P2P but through intermediaries. Even in El Salvador, where it has been legalized as a currency, most of those who use it do so through a company app with KYC for remittances. We will see if this changes and if so, to what extent,
15  Economy / Lending / Re: [W] $500 loan in btc. Repayment $550. in 3 days on: September 25, 2022, 07:53:21 AM
[W] $500 loan in BTC. Repayment $550. in 3 days.

Type of Collateral: My balls.

This can't be taken seriously. I assume you're asking for the loan because it took you 1 minute to write that and just in case there's someone remotely dumb enough to lend you the money, but I'm certainly not going to be the dumb one.
16  Other / Serious discussion / Re: I need your ideas on: September 20, 2022, 04:28:12 AM
In the end, the recovering person has to be able to view those ads in an emotionally neutral way and not gamble again.
you mean like come to the realization that they are going to just lose more money if they keep gambling?

Rather, do not get carried away.  Problem gamblers know that they are going to lose more money, in the same way that a heroin addict knows he is going to end badly if he doesn't quit.

alcohol and gambling are not the same.

Fentanyl is not the same as either alcohol or gambling but the parallel I am trying to draw is that an ex-alcoholic has the opportunity to drink again in a few minutes, especially if he lives in a city and not in the middle of the mountains. The gambler can also return to gambling in seconds with his cell phone. At the end of the day, the one who recovers knows how to live with it.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When betting becomes to high on: September 19, 2022, 04:23:05 AM
It's been four days since the author created this thread, but he hasn't commented on it. It would be interesting if he could eventually say whether it was just a one-off thing that he was able to control. In my case it has happened to me sometimes to stay betting longer than expected but nothing serious. Better to be alert because you never know if you can make a big hole in your finances by getting carried away without stopping in time.
18  Other / Serious discussion / Re: I need your ideas on: September 18, 2022, 09:50:55 AM
If you have a gambling addiction or problem, this site may not be the best place to hang out as they will show you banner ads that promote gambling websites. Truth.

Gambling ads are all over the internet, not only in this forum. In the end, the recovering person has to be able to view those ads in an emotionally neutral way and not gamble again, just as a recovering alcoholic cannot lock himself in a basement and not come out again so as not to see opportunities to buy alcohol. There are opportunities to drink alcohol everywhere, just as there are opportunities to gamble, and you have to know how to live with that without falling back into it.
19  Economy / Securities / Re: [IBCO - Whitelist] ⚽🎰 Casino Critique⭐ FREE Chip for BCT Members ❤️‍🔥 on: September 18, 2022, 07:19:47 AM
Very well said. I think that this idea comes from the ICO era, where projects used to gather investment while the project was being built along the way, and we all know how those went.

That's probably why it's called IBCO.

I would like to clarify one thing I said in my previous post.

But something else comes to my mind: it is said that there are reputable people in the forum involved in it. I doubt very much that the reputation in this forum from which they can disappear whenever they want is worth more than 7 BTC.

In the case of the two escrows other than Casino Critique, I think they would have quite a bit to lose. They have a great reputation and in the case of Hampuz he manages a lot of signature campaigns so he should earn a lot of money.

But we are in a section that says at the top of the page:

Warning: Moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Watch out for Ponzi schemes. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

I could easily invest between 10 and 100 chips if it was a project as I have already said: that has started, that can somehow show that it makes money in a growing way even if it is little and that to grow more it needs funding.

But just like that, no. I wish all the people involved in it and potential investors luck.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: "Be your own Bank with Bitcoin" - A reminder why this is so important! on: September 17, 2022, 06:29:26 AM
Bitcoin allows you to be your OWN Bank .....and it allows you to have access to your own money, without any intermediary having the power to block it. Just make sure that you have sole access to your Private keys.  Wink

I agree and believe that responsible people should have a portion of their savings in BTC. Not all of it, because today it has many drawbacks, including the wrench attack, as discussed later, but part in the bank and part in BTC. That way, if you find that the bank has frozen your funds, it has not frozen them all and you can use BTC.
