1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling/betting shops vs Investment banks - Do you believe this guy's opinion? on: Today at 10:23:42 AM
So guys, I found the below shot In one of my friend's story on WhatsApp, it is a shot of a popular Nigerian musician known as "Erigga - I believe that my Nigerian brothers here will know him well.

He was actually talking about the importance of investing to make money, but in emphasizing this, he talked about gambling houses and betting shops; only being found in Poor neighborhoods, while investment banks, equity firms, asset management firms are only found in rich neighborhoods.

While I tend to agree with what he said about making money generally, i am still trying to find any reason to believe that the emphasis he used is true, that is, I do not believe his opinion about gambling house verses investment banks to be true.

What do you guys think about this?

what I could connote from his message is that which is similar to a common statement in the forum concerning the fact that gambling can never and should never be taking as a source of growing wealth, because it's an activity which outcome is bound around luck and it's a mirage to trust on luck for wealth.

If you want to grow wealth focus on investment assets of which gambling is not one in the numerous list, the problem with poor people is that their poverty has much to do with their mentality about wealth creation. The poor checks for a medium to get wealth quick without much procedures and that is the lie gambling press on them.

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 22, 2024, 02:13:52 PM
In today's match Türkiye vs Portugal two teams will face each other and these two teams are very strong in the group stage. The two teams are in first and second position in Group F and it is difficult to say which team will win today's match. But we can relatively estimate that this match is Portugal compared to strong Turkey so if you bet for Portugal as the favorite team it will definitely be possible to win. According to today's Mays budget odds we can see Portugal under the win as Portugal is more likely to win.

Türkiye beat Georgia 3-1 in the first match. Arda Güler was the man of the match. He scored a great goal. But the match could have ended with a different score. Georgia had very important scoring positions. On the other hand, Portugal finished the first half of the match defeated against Czechia. But they scored 2 goals in the second half and won the match. Portugal are the favorites in this match. But it will not be an easy match even for Portugal. Türkiye have very young and dynamic players like Arda Güler and Kerem Aktürkoğlu. One of them can change the score at any moment today.
I look forward to watch Arda Güler and Kerem Aktürkoglu to give a consolation  to their country in this game against the Portuguese, a win will boost the moral of the team spurring into the next round of the competition. However, Turkey has never won a major game against Portugal in any competition and am reconciling to this record that Portugal wouldn't lower their long-standing recorded performance against turkey right now. They have a more brilliant decorated team than Turkey and been able to upset the result in the match against Czechia  who were in an early lead, to be honest Portugal wouldn't lose on this too with Turkey too.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple mistakes that beginners make, that destroys their reputations. on: June 22, 2024, 07:49:33 AM
It amaze me how a newbie gets to be aware of all of these as problems and mistakes known with newbies in the forum in just within a not more than 48hrs account counting from it's creation time. That's excellence of you to have known all of these in such a short duration, you must be a fast learner and I applaud your zeal.

Welcome to the forum mate.

AFAIK, newbies are  prone to making mistakes it's part of many reasons why they are called newbies but they shouldn't settle in that position but improve through learning and questioning. Like a blank slate they should be open to learning and not be in a hurry to teach because that's what I see some newbies do and when they get slammed  for their ignorance they resist the corrections and call it criticism.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Source of income diverses can inspire investors to expand their investment goals on: June 22, 2024, 07:03:35 AM
Even without having an investment goal it is very essential to build a different streams of income because as responsibilities keeps looming without any stops it therefore demands we don't also stop at anything in getting a multiple income source.

It is highly risky not to have an investment for the future but it's much more riskier to depend just on only one source of income in this inflation economy because a cut in that single source can end all years of plans an individual has put to work making you restart life from scratch again where under a multiple stream of income you can fall on one when the other stops.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Out of prides, investors endangers themselves. on: June 22, 2024, 06:47:35 AM
I think this my newly investor friend was out of pride and just wanted to make this other guy feel regret but does not know the dangerous implications he has just made upon himself and his Bitcoin assets.
It is unfortunate for investors who lives this life of proving themselves to people just to make them believe on their investment.
We don't know if he did what he did out of pride or by sheer attitude of trying to convince the doubting friend about bitcoin with a proven evidence directly from his wallet. One thing is here is certain, you didn't preach to him about privacy with bitcoin and how important not to comprise on it.

While we brush people up about how profitable bitcoin can be to them if they invest long we should with that approach enlighten them too on the tenets of how to safeguard their investment from public notice because privacy is peace.  The more people don't know about your finances the more peaceful and secure live becomes for you.

I wouldn't blame the OP in this case because he didn't mention privacy to his friend. Even if it is not bitcoin but another asset/investment, it is his decision whether to share it with others or not because if he had a boastful personality, he would do it with other assets as well, not just with bitcoin.

But you're right, we don't know what his real intentions are, is he bragging or just wants to convince the other friend. But regardless of his intentions, revealing his assets to others is a huge risk even if it is not bitcoin. Not only should we keep our bitcoin investments a secret, but we should also refrain from flaunting our wealth under any circumstances and to everyone.
Well, we are all making assumptions still, and the appropriate person to rightly declare his position to end our assumptions of if it was done out of pride or not is the guy in question, which unfortunately we can't reach the mysterious guy. Though Op on his own part alleged to have given him a comprehensive guide.

Nevertheless, we shouldn't risk our privacy in the process of trying to prove a point mostly when it concerns money. There should be a limit to what we can expose to friends and family as we can't really read their inner thought towards our success. At this era with how widespread the word bitcoin has penetrated into diverse corners of the society there is no need working up ourselves to convince anyone about investing.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Avoid Miscalculated Risks In Gambling. on: June 21, 2024, 04:01:44 PM
even risk all their profits to make more profits. The aim of one who wants to be successful in gambling shouldn't be to waste money in the name of taking risks, it's avoiding numerous loses and spending wisely even if you want to take risks it should be calculated risks not risking all your profits to make more profits. Stick to your limits, bet on low risk odds, take profits and don't bet all your profits one very risky odds, and most importantly bet on what you can afford to lose, these are what is expected from a gambler who wants to be successful, not taking unnecessary risks.
Risk is all about making profits, right?  Gamblers that go for big risk odds are those gamblers that  are with little money to use for gambling, they had to go for high odds despite the risk in order to boost the size of their potential win since their staking power is very low. The trouble there is that the chances to win is dim.

It is said that rich gamblers has a much advantage of getting regular wins than the middle class gamblers, which is kind of true. Because with good gambling strategy rich gamblers who can afford to stake high amount of money to a low risk odd size with a reasonable potential profit  from it will make profit more unlike going after big odd size with small amount. Apparently, what money we risk should be money we can afford losing that's the face responsible gambling should have in whatever way we twist it.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 21, 2024, 09:10:40 AM
I am a bit worried that Croatia may not be able to go past group stage this time. They are being placed in an extremely tough group, along with Spain, Italy and Albania. And at this point they have just 1 point from 2 matches. Their only remaining match is against Italy on 24th June, but I don't think that they will be able to secure required number of points. A few hours back, Italy went down against Spain, but I am not sure whether Croatia stands any chance against them.

Croatia and Italy will have their big clash in a final match day of this group. This is an important match and opportunity for Croatia to beat Italy and surpass Italy on the table in this group.

They are quite the same in quality and I even don't know between Croatia and Italy, what team will win. Italy can be considered stronger than Croatia but other people can say Croatia can be considered as stronger than Italy. Difference between them is small that gives each team a 50% chance to win that important match.

Italy can move next if they have a draw but with Croatia, a draw means they have to go home.
This game is a crucial one for the both teams which will be definitive on who's to leave or stay in the Euro... This year Euro, Croatia team has quite fallen below expectation with just a point in their group B after two games.  On a current stats, Croatia don't stand a better chance to win their next game against Italy who were very unlucky after a tough battle in the meeting with Spain  narrowly winning that game with an own goal from Calafiori. Same Spain that had a cool time beaten Croatia 3 nil.

Except history decides to repeat itself by favouring Croatia against Italy. In all of their 9 meetings record has it that Croatia has won 3 games while Italy won 1 with 5 draws. So probably if Croatia can show a bit of  improvement in that match come 24th June they could light up their chance of surviving the group stage, but a draw won't be of any good for them at all.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Bitcoin Standard and other S. Ammous books for free! on: June 21, 2024, 08:01:27 AM
Thank you for sharing this here.

It blows my mind that we can literally get bitcoin education for free. And we almost don't have to pay a dime. This it is a testament that there is no excuse in this century not to make use of the unlimited bitcoin resources that are available to make one a better and well-informed Bitcoiner.

That is one of the beauties of the  bitcoin concept among it's users, putting the bitcoin knowledge first before anything else. If many of the essential materials that educates on bitcoin is to be monetized for accessibility, quite a lot of people would have been discouraged and denied the opportunity in their bid to understand how this electronic payment system called bitcoin works differently from the old traditional system of centralized finance.

And it would have somehow stagnated the level of adoption bitcoin has gotten to this day. Not every hand could been able to afford having these materials going by their cost juxtaposing to the wealth of knowledge they convey. And am proud to say, am a benefactor of the bitcoin free education materials.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Haney-Garcia Decision Out: Betting Implications on: June 21, 2024, 06:11:25 AM
In as much as I do condemn any act of unprofessionalism by sports men in not following the rules of engagement as laid down guidelines in respective games, I do not agree to the call that overturned decisions by sports organizers after a decision has been taken and results given and settled in all gambling outlets/sites that as a result of an overturned it should also reflect in sportsbooks too.

Doing that can cause a lot of confusion between sportbookies and casino's, between casino's and their customers who will be on two aide of the divide, between those who the overturned decisions favoured and the unfavored. I should believe that issues like this is addressed on gambling sites ToS.

Any gambling site that makes an attempt to carry out an action as a result of the overturn will only be putting it's existence in business at risk. Let leave the sleeping dog sleep.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling therapy on: June 20, 2024, 02:54:37 PM
We go for monthly or quarterly health routine checkups not only because we're sick but to  reduce any risk of getting sick before knowing. Right? same behavior can be applied to gambling , do you agree or it's not necessary until you start getting a gambling problem .

That’s not how therapy works imo. Therapy is only for those people that can’t handle addiction since it’s not a maintenance medicine to stop your gambling urges.
That's the conventional idea as we have known before now but it doesn't have to continually ride that way. And going for a therapy does mean it has to be on a regular basis twice a year is fine for a gambler and you potentially may not be attending for your very sake but could be that the knowledge and awareness you get to know about how these therapy sessions work could be useful to you in helping some other gambler that may be struggling with any gambling problems around your environment but can't afford professional sessions.

Here's a post i made about a gambler who had to talk to me about how he felt bad due to how judgemental someone he shared his gambling problem with, (could be a fellow gambler like him, anyway). But assuming the unidentified person the guy with gambling problem had confide in was to have an idea about therapy in dealing with the complains he received then far be it that his reaction would have been a judgemental one. I don't know if you get my point now.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling therapy on: June 20, 2024, 12:32:33 PM
I heard about gambling therapy and it prick my mind to which I asked myself when last did I  go for gambling therapy? I could recall and that's because I have never had one since I believe am gambling responsibly.

What's gambling therapy?
Quote
Gambling Therapy is a free, global online service offering practical advice and emotional support to anyone affected by problem gambling link
Yeah, you read that correctly , it says people affected by gambling problem. But after reading I took an opposing view about it because gambling therapy shouldn't be something simply painted exclusively for people with gambling addiction problems alone. In as much as you're a gambler, whether  a gambler that has his gambling habit under control, going for a gambling therapy should be a habit we should acculturate ourselves with, at least twice a year (ones in every 6months).

We go for monthly or quarterly health routine checkups not only because we're sick but to  reduce any risk of getting sick before knowing. Right? same behavior can be applied to gambling , do you agree or it's not necessary until you start getting a gambling problem .

Should such posts be reported too, even when not listed yet?
If I comprehend clearly what Theymos posts says, then it is that any services that doesn't follow the laid down rules as given, which in others words, one that appears to be an illegal sale you are free to post a report about it let whosoever is behind the account give a detailed explanation to that effect.

The digital goods board is open to the sells of any services however, it must be within the frame of legitimacy or that which is allowed around the community.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Recording gambling activities on: June 20, 2024, 10:51:01 AM
Do you think keeping record of gambling activity will play a good role to someone's gambling lifestyle?
Recording keeping can be tasking at  some point to be that consistent at it for a full year especially.  I prefer not to keep records because it won't change anything in the lifestyle of a gambler that lacks internal discipline.

Where there are much losses made, keep records of it and seeing it everyday when he/she gets back to add another recorded loss to the piles of losses, my perception is that it can only gives him hope that he can recover those losses someday as he keeps intensifying his gambling bets.

I know a lot of persons will have a positive mindset about record keeping which I concur to the core to whatever positivity there is, but this just one of many negative aspect of my perspective to gambling record keep from a gambler with a non-disciplined lifestyle.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live games discussion thread on: June 20, 2024, 08:37:54 AM
I guess people that like playing Poker, especially the one that they will have to compete with each other and not the casino, that will be their most favorite game. I have seen many gamblers that prefer Poker and told me the reason they prefer it.
Unlike when you are competing against the house they have every hedge you can think of over you as an individual no matter how skilled you may be, except for luck, but with Poker where different individual gambler just have to compete among themselves on a round table based on individual skills you losing only indicate that the next person was better skilled than you and not just out of luck.

And poker is a psychological based game that makes you try to think and calculate faster ahead of your opponent on his next move, so those gamblers that believes alot on their skills and strategy will always want to test it with their fellow gambler and poker is one those games right for such a show. And don't forget the game goes along with some interaction on random issues which seems to be much interesting for some persons that way too.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They will find someone to blame for their mistakes on: June 19, 2024, 11:08:03 PM
I think betting sites should not be allowed to include such bet. They should not just only be blaming the man. I see the betting site faults also. Why making people to bet on a result that someone set?
There are gamblers that do enjoy and have for n with those categories of bet and they would have a conflicting perspective about your thought on this, and for the betting sites their business is to get involved into any form of betting that will roll in money for them and addition to the fact  there are people that are ready to participate despite it's outcome not fairly free from  manipulation.

It's not as if the people that bets about the outcomes of any of these trending events are unaware of  it been set-up by an individual figure or a group of persons, which is why I don't see how's that a fault of betting sites that are out to doing business and make profits. The only time those bet sites that allows those options on their platform will be willing to stop is when people no more places interest on them.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake did it again! Another huge losing bet... on: June 19, 2024, 06:59:19 AM
Besides singing and acting Drake had made a name in the gambling sector. He can be added as one of the biggest gamblers in recent times. However, there has been suspicion that all these big bets are public stunts to promote a particular betting platform. It is well known that he gambles with a particular casino with which he has a connection.
-snip-
Regarding a promotion or not, it seems that losing gambling has been experienced quite often by Drake.
But this time the loss reached $1 Million in 2 individual bets worth $500,000 on the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Mavericks being his big losses.
I know how we all that haven't made such money will be feeling right now with enormous thoughts in our head of useful things we can do with $1M because, it appears as though Drake is wasting money not knowing what to do with it but going by his networth and the records of each bets he has made and loss, I think he has always staked with a percentage amount he can afford to lose in relation to his worth which means he is not an addicted gambler AFAIK. Which is why he doesn't get moved by any of those losses though it's painful how he has to lose this way in every of his bet that he is now associated with the nickname The Drake-Curse. I feel for the dude though.

19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy BTC sold for 16 BTC-1 mil USD on: June 18, 2024, 07:04:31 PM
]
Some people buy things without the aim of making profit from them; they just want to help those things gain adoption and also have value or gain more value. For instance, the person who bought the "buy bitcoin sign" for 1 million dollars has helped bitcoin gain adoption. For instance, when you see the news that someone bought a "buy bitcoin sign" for 1 million dollars, you will want to know the reason why someone used such a large amount of money to buy the "buy bitcoin sign." In the process of your research, you find out the problems bitcoin will solve in the world, and you will not want to be left out. Before you know it, you will start making plans to accumulate bitcoin. Some people also buy things that will not give them profit or have no value just to appreciate the creators of those things.
When people buys things of this nature they do that for two main purpose which are fame and profit either for the now or in the future, its a phenomenon about humans not to do things without a captured intrinsic interest.   I mean bitcoin has for anything made a name for itself with such popularity that when people talk about cryptocurrency the first crypto they mention is bitcoin, with the exponential surge of investors in bitcoin market. Anyone buying anything affiliated to become now is not just dong that to popularize bitcoin for adoption but for his personal sake to either for fame or profit that's just that underlying point for an investor to have to spend 1milion dollars that way.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bagaimana jik anda pemilik kasino? on: June 18, 2024, 05:49:47 PM
If you were the owner of the casino, what would you think when people like that gamble at your place?

I dont quite get what you are asking here. Casinos are businesses, gamblers are their customers.  The casino wants them to lose money, gamblers want to win.  Its pretty straightforward.

That's why I opened this thread, a simple answer but it has a very deep meaning and has a certain purpose for this thread that I made, that as you said the casino wants you to spend money there, I some people who don't understand how he is in a gambling addiction need to see this thread and how he is actually being used that he is just exchanging their time and money for a game.
That i own a casino today or in the future i probably see the gamblers that walk in to my casino to gamble as my clients/customers, as people that are in the weak end where in fact i am the one sitting at the strong edge of the whole obscuration interest for profit. because that's how i firmly perceive is the perspective with which casino owners view we gamblers with. it is never in their best interest that the gambler survive a session, for its a battle for profit which both parties don't want to lose (if one continuous to make loss he falls off from business, and the other should he loses either continuous to chase his loss or quit go home as a loser to come back another day), which is why i find it hard to comprehend why some gamblers will expose themselves to gambling addiction for what exactly.
