I think that the image which smoolae posted, pretty much tells you the reason why not to do it.

Using those adapter cables is an extremely bad idea!

Don't do it.

Oh, whoops. My brainfart.
425  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: May 12, 2018, 07:22:42 PM
No, it's not if you know what you are doing.
All three hash boards have a separate power input.
You power one hash board and controller board with the first psu.
You power two hash boards with the second psu.

And it is not my recommendation.

This is my recommendation.
Just get rid of using the fucking 110V mains voltage and have an 220V outlet circuit installed.
And buy only one good PSU.
426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: May 12, 2018, 04:18:34 PM
@ccgllc

Does using a different AUC3 converter dongle in that chain make any difference?
427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: May 12, 2018, 02:24:07 PM
@BlockTangle

By the way, do you realise the fact that the Halong/MyRig 1600W power supply units do not work in the 110-120V mains voltage systems ?

Hagg, per the HM website in the FAQ's:

"Q. I have 110v supply at home, is this suitable?
A. Not really. Miners operate more efficiently with 220-240v and mining farms step down their own electricity supply to 220-240v. If you have 110v supply you will either need to purchase a 1600W PSU rated for 110v from an alternative source, use two of our 1600W PSUs for each miner, or arrange the voltage supply."

I bought 2 PSUs per miner (5 miners and 10 PSUs). Would 2 HM PSUs per miner do the trick?

Thank you! Smiley

If they say that two Halong Mining psus will do the job, then it should be ok.

I haven't seen the technical specifications label for the Halong Mining psu.
428  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: May 12, 2018, 02:11:05 PM
I updated my post, please have another look.

Both two R4 units ended up being sent to MyRig,
and they were able to fix only one R4..
429  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: May 12, 2018, 02:08:08 PM
Well I found out that,

Bitmain can not repair R4 miners. They say they don't have spare parts anymore.
Which sucks, in my opinion.

The only place to repair these is MyRig.
And they can only repair it if it doesn't have too much of a pcb board damages.

So out of these two R4 units, I was only able to get one R4 unit repaired successfully.  Undecided

Sorry for this late reply. I haven't had any X's in the status and it has been running with no issues.

432  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: May 10, 2018, 09:07:22 PM
Yeah I think if you can get it running stable with fixed fan speed somewhere between 2500 to 3000 rpm, it should be a reasonable noise level machine.
433  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: May 10, 2018, 08:40:21 PM
@NotFuzzyWarm

Here are the cgminer commands for the A7 series.

These are the rows 1421 -> 1481 in the cgminer code.

SON OF A &%$#*!

Just checked my order, #18XX, and it's still scheduled to arrive on 5/10, but it shows as a "partial shipment" as at least one other person noted. I ordered 5 miners and 10 PSUs, so I'm hoping that some of the PSUs arrive. If not, then it's Frankenstein time...gotta power it with bits and pieces scattered across the ebay universe.

Suggestions on alternate PSUs that are USA 120v compatible? Thank you!

This server power supply kit is great for the 110/120V mains voltage systems.
It is including one Lite-On 1kW and one HP 750W server power supply.

https://www.parallelminer.com/product/1850w-110-240v-80-gold-rated-power-supply-kit-for-dragonmint-t1-miner-dragonmint-b52-blake2b-miner/

BUT PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS WIRING DIAGRAM:
https://imgur.com/a/Lcx1UdP

You need to connect the Lite-On PSU for two hash boards. And then you connect the HP 750W PSU for one hash board and controller board.
Do not connect the two power supplies in the same circuit!
They'll 'fight' each other to death.

No, I mean the power consumption savings were something like 10-20 Watts only. If I remember right.
440  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: May 07, 2018, 08:57:34 PM
The S9i is only slightly better in terms of the power efficiency than the S9.
