My B3 came and works fine so far Smiley
It is as loud as an S9 or D3 despite using lesser electricity. It has 6 boards with 2 chips on each board and it is auto-tune. U cant lower fans, so make sure u set up a place that can take some noise. This isnt gpu quiet despite using low electricity. I am not sure wat speed the fans spin at because sit just shows zero.

Maybe you can buy and install Enermax D.F. Storm fans to provide enough cooling (3500rpm, 155CFM), but with a low noise level.

You should go read Phillip's review thread and realise that the Avalon 841 power consumption actually depends a lot on your temperatures,
rather than which brand power supply unit you use.

443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: May 06, 2018, 08:00:40 PM
A6 and A7 data communication is not compatible with each other,
and I would definitely put those two generations with a own Raspberry Pi controller unit.

And I would also run A7 and A8 generation miners with a own Raspberry Pi controller unit per generation.

7 and 8 are not compat either.  A 7 on an 8 controller or vice versa does nothing to the opposite, miner won't even start.

True.

Wow, this is a cool piece of AvalonMiner history!  Smiley

Maybe  there is something wrong with your new fan's tachometer.

PG value describes the power supply condition.

Which psus are you using? Sorcerer psus? Do you have better luck with other psu?
447  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 04, 2018, 12:33:17 AM
Ok  I guess we all agree that HP rules!  Grin
448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 03, 2018, 10:10:08 PM
Yep, but the Corsair is a lot more expensive than the 2x HP 750W server psu kit.

And server psus are more robust for mining than the ATX psus.
449  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 841 PG 3 on: May 03, 2018, 04:22:35 PM
Yeah, the PG value is usually something like 15 if your PSUs are perfectly ok
and it can be very low if there are some psu issues.
450  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 03, 2018, 01:53:19 PM
I will fire up my 841 up soon with one of these tested setups so I'm glad you all were able to post the information for us.

Can  someone PM me the hosting site too.
With all this testing, what does one recommend for a 110V psu. The only option I see is to use two 750 or 850 psu's similar to what parallel miner sells. I have 1-850 (free) and 1-1200 (devoted to A721)

It seems I can use a 1200 watt Parallelminer PSU with one of the settings mentioned.

Yours best PSU option when running at 110V mains voltage
is two Hewlett-Packard 750W server PSUs kit with breakout boards and pci-e cables.  Cool
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: May 03, 2018, 12:28:09 PM
Whats the "real" difference between the L3+ and the L3++ or is it just a rebrand?
Mhs and watts looks the same.

Bitmain has not told us.

Most likely it could be overclocked a little.

Or maybe they have taken advantage of all the work Blissz did with his custom firmware? Who knows.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RaspberryPi watchdog on: May 03, 2018, 07:02:26 AM
You can use this with gpu rigs --> altcoin section
453  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 822 on: May 03, 2018, 06:38:55 AM
And there is now also one folder for AvalonMiner 851.
Hmm, interesting development.. Smiley

Yeah, that piece of code shows that both PMU boards are perfectly ok.

Hmmm, weird and interesting..

Thanks guys. Just use this machine as you would use any Antminer series device and you'll be fine.
Make sure your environment is good for the miner to avoid any issues.

It is highly recommend to use an automatic difficulty setting,
but if you feel you must use a static difficulty then you can try using d=131072 or d=262144 .
457  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 02, 2018, 02:52:53 PM
@richdmz

I'm quoting my old post in the Avalon7 thread.

This also applies for the Avalon8 generation,
as the communication structure is the same.

anyone know where the 4-pin cable connecting miner to auc converter can be found. I'm sure if I had the right name for it I can find it at a cable store?
Looks like a 4pin audio cable to a 5-1/2 cdrom.

It's a five pin cable between the AUC (AvalonMiner USB Converter) and the miner..

Here is a good advice from Phil for a replacement cable.
Does anyone know where you can find replacement  AUC3 I2C 5PIN Cable for the 741. Or even an option that would be a little longer?

I have the top two they work.

use the colored ones

make sure the same  color is on the left  on both units

Check out your Vo values.

It seems that you could have issues with the PMU boards.
459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: May 01, 2018, 11:31:02 PM
@ccgllc
Yes, it gets overwritten by the second instance which you have inserted in the 'More Options' field.
460  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My review of Avalon 841 . on: May 01, 2018, 08:10:17 PM

I know this is obvious what I'm about to say,
but please note that these versions are still in the testing and are not declared as stable releases.
