Now is a good time to DCA as prices have fallen a lot since the October high last year and we likely only have a few months left of this bear market before we start moving up end of the year.
With Bitcoin currently at $64k, i expect it to go down to at least $55k maybe even $50k and when that happens altcoins will crash too which will give us even cheaper prices to DCA.

Still holding my ICP and bought some recently during these bear market lows with current price around $2 to reduce my average.
It has now fallen to only $1B market cap so I'm hoping to see it 10x from these levels next few years.
Anyone else hold it or like it?

Bought some Algorand the other day at $700m market cap as that price is lowest it has been for 5 years so feels like a good time to DCA.
It is now at $800m market cap again and i feel anything below this price is a great time to buy considering it hit a $4b market cap early last year.
I am expecting Algorand and other RWA assets to really kick on next few years so hoping to get at least a 500% return from this level.
If Bitcoin and crypto hasnt bottomed yet, then i expect algorand to go down to $600m market cap next month or so and if that happens will buy a nice bag then too.

Another Monday, another week closer to the bear market bottom. Hopefully just a few months to go now.
Not much going on, my portfolio has fallen slightly to a new all time low at -54% and i am expecting it to fall further in August as its usually a bad month so got some money saved to DCA at lower prices.
Portfolio check : -54%.

Do we think there is a chance of potential altseason next few years like we saw before 2022 or are those times over?
We can't tell. The past few years were like an absolute hype for the altcoins and that's why we've seen a lot of altcoin seasons. The last year's bull run, we've seen that the altcoins who pumped a lot were limited. I am just wondering what to expect from alts next few years, are the days of seeing a 30-50x return still possible or should we just be very happy if we get a 10x with altcoins now?
No one knows but I think to see a 10x ROI is already too much to think of. I think that you're worried with what you're holding and it has to 10x to 50x for you to profit. I have seen altcoins, 10x, 20x even 50x last few years so dont understand why you think an altcoin cant at least 10x from these bear market lows next few years. I am holding a few altcoins that are currently 80% down and i will be happy just getting back to break even to, but im also holding some where i got in at a good price and am currently break even or already in profit and expecting to 10x or more next few years.

If the 4 year cycle is still to continue and you compare it to previous cycles then Bitcoin will bottom in roughly 11 weeks and i am curious to hear how low we all think it will go?
I have seen some say as low as $35k but id be very surprised if it goes that low.
I think the bottom will be between $44-50k and my current plan is to buy more regularly soon as it falls below $56k.
so July 23 plus 77 days is October 8th I will keep your guess in mind. But this bullpen was the first to hit an ATH before the 1/2ing so it could very well be you are off by months. In 2021 Bitcoin hit an all time high 9th November, it then bottomed 21st November 2022 so i dont think i am that far off with my prediction considering Bitcoin topped October 6th last year as it is roughly a year from top to bottom.

For those in TAO, how low do we think it can go before it bottoms?
It seems to be holding up pretty well compared to other alts currenty as it is still above $2b market cap.
I had hoped it would fall down to $1b market cap this year but I cant see that now, hopefully it falls to $1.5b again like it did in February and i will then be happy to buy some then.

Quant has just fallen down to $60 and is now not far off from the $56 yearly low set in February and i think it will be below that soon.
I had planned to buy at $60 , but feel it is going to go even lower as August is typically a bad month for Bitcoin & alts.
I have a buy set at $55 and feel it has a good chance of seeing at least a 6x from that price next few years.

Which of the top altcoins actually did 5x to 10x in the last bull run where Bitcoin went to $126k? Also, what makes you think that Bitcoin will only 3x from its bottom in the upcoming bull run? We can't be sure whether the current price can be the bottom or not, it could even drop to $40k in the worst case scenario, and from there, it can easily 5x and reach $200k in the upcoming bull run. In the last bear market, Bitcoin's bottom was $16k, and it reached $126k, so it almost did 8x from the bottom, so even if it doesn't do that much, I'm pretty sure it can still do better than altcoins.
I'm not saying alt coins are useless, I know that a lot of alt coins have great potential, but I didn't see most of them perform the way Bitcoin did in the recent bull run, so I don't expect much from them. Besides, the trust we have on Bitcoin can never be put into alt coins. I wouldn't use more than 20% of my overall portfolio on alt coins because I know that even if they have good potential, they can't be trusted as much as Bitcoin, so Bitcoin deserves the first place for me, always.
Hbar did 8x , XRP 5x, CRO 6x, Sol 25x , these are just the ones i know of I'm sure a few others did at least 5x. The return for bitcoin this coming cycle all depends how low it goes this year, if it does fall down to $40k then yes it can 5x from there and hit $200k in a few years. I dont think it will go down to $40k, maybe $50k but lets see what the next few months bring. If you measure from the bottom of the previous bear market, many altcoin delivered x5-x10 return, and some even made x30-x50, such as KAS, INJ, or Render. The craziest case was probably OM, which went up around x90-x100. However, compared to its previous ATH, not many altcoin have reached a new ATH like Bitcoin has. Most alts had strong rallies, but very few managed to break their previous ATH. This is a major difference between BTC and alts in the last cycle. It shows how important the entry price is in determining your return. The truth is that Bitcoin won't be able to deliver better returns than some alts, but it's safer and more guaranteed. Agreed. Bitcoin is a lot safer, so if you have a decent amount of money to invest when it does fall down to $50-55k next month then it is worth it as should 4x from there next few years. But if you only have $1-2k to invest, is it really worth investing in Bitcoin for a 4x? Not for me. Id want something that can give me a 10x return and thats why i turn to altcoins.

I have advised before that I am not interested in Bitcoin at $63k. It may 3x from this price next bull run top but why invest into Bitcoin for a 3x return when top alts will 5-10x from current prices.
Even XRP for example, will likely 5x from current price when Bitcoin hits a new high in a few years so id rather buy XRP for the better returns.

Do we think there is a chance of potential altseason next few years like we saw before 2022 or are those times over?
Altcoins rise in the last bull markets, but just that not in a way they reduced bitcoin market dominance. I have been in crypto a few years now and had a few good winners end of 2024 seeing returns of 10x or more but the majority of my altcoins are in the red and not seen any type of positive action since 2021.
Exactly what I meant up there, but almost all altcoins are not store of value. Make money from them and sell them. They are not bitcoin. I am just wondering what to expect from alts next few years, are the days of seeing a 30-50x return still possible or should we just be very happy if we get a 10x with altcoins now?
10x is enough, but some coins will increase more than that and later fall, why some will not increase up to 10x. Yeah I know some altcoins did rise, just nowhere near like they did in the last real altseaon in 2021. I will be happy with a 10x overall next few years, just hoping we have a better altseason this cycle compered to few years ago.

Despite the fact that Bitcoin is unpredictable, I know that its price can fall to unexpectedly low levels or rise to unexpectedly high levels. However, I would like to say that the chance of Bitcoin dropping below $50K is very low. Therefore, I would advise you to set a buy price that is higher than Bitcoin's current price. In fact, today's Bitcoin price, which is around $63K, is not really a bad price to buy.if you believe that Bitcoin is likely to hit a bottom below $50K, I would advise you to start buying regularly. That way, you won't end up missing the opportunity to buy.In fact, I don't see much difference between buying at $50K and $63K, especially if Bitcoin recovers after some time. You could still make a good profit. For example, if Bitcoin rises back to $126K it all time high, your investment would double. I have advised before that I am not interested in Bitcoin at $63k. It may 3x from this price next bull run top but why invest into Bitcoin for a 3x return when top alts will 5-10x from current prices. I have been reading one of the main reasons altcoins have not performed well since the end of 2021 is because we had QT (quantitative tightening) for 3.5 years from June 2022 till December last year and during QT altcoins do not tend to perform well due to drained liquidity and risk off environment. Do we think this is a likely reason for lack of altseason or not?
Bitcoin did really well last cycle, going from $15.5k end of 2022 to $126k October last year, a 700% increase and some alts did this but majority did not.
I am just wondering what to expect from alts next few years, are the days of seeing a 30-50x return still possible or should we just be very happy if we get a 10x with altcoins now?

August is one of the worst months for Bitcoin, with 9 out of 12 being red since 2014 and with news coming out yesterday saying the clarity act has again been delayed, i think we are in for a rocky few weeks.
With Bitcoin at $63k, surely it goes below the current $58.5k bottom by the end of August. It just feels too early to have bottomed.

Another week since my last portfolio update, the weeks really are flying by. If we havent bottomed yet, then we likely will in the next month or two so not long left now.
I mainly DCA weekly into top altcoins i hold at the moment. Will buy some Bitcoin only if it goes below $55k but not sure if it will.
Portfolio check -51%.

I am looking for a new altcoin to invest in while prices are low and have come across ZBCN on Coinbase.
Currently $270m market cap which is pretty low so feel it has room to grow, good that its on Coinbase and all of its supply is in circulation so that's good too.
I have had a quick look on coinmarketcap and looks like quite a few are bullish on it just wondering if anyone else is invested or even knows of it?
I will add it to my watchlist for now and if it falls down to around $200m market cap next few months then I may start to DCA into it.
I wouldn't put a dime to anything with low marketcap this year. While you could make money with them if you are lucky and exit at the right time, it's likely that money from them immediately drains to top cryptos when the bull run starts. And that will be fast. Some anon devs will definitelly cash out their tokens with a rug pull and move on as well. After that it will take time when (if) money moves back to them, if you have chosen a right one out of countless different smallcaps in the first place. Yeah I haven’t invested in this yet. I planned to when it fell to $200m market cap but there is quite a bit of FUD around it at the moment so think it will go lower. For now I am just focusing on top altcoins in the current top 50, not really buying too much though as do feel Bitcoin and the rest of crypto has one more crash this summer to bottom before recovering.

That's what I think as well, how low it could go if the worst thing happens, but not actually the worst case because I now treat a fall as an opportunity.
But 11 weeks, isn't that too short? We've seen BTC drop to $59k a few times already, but it has held that support and didn't even touch $55k. With how strong the $59k support is, I don't think we'll see the bottom after just 11 weeks. Unless BTC falls to $59k again and, at the same time, some news comes out that could take another hit on Bitcoin, then maybe we can see the bottom.
But even with bad news, I think $35k is too low, considering how strong the $59k support is.
I do hope we have bottomed already at the $58.5k we saw earlier this month but it just feels too soon which is why i am leaning more towards there being further downside to come next few months especially as August is one of the worst months for Bitcoin. To be honest, none of us know for sure how low it will go but i do believe each bear market will not be as bad as the last in terms of the fall from bull market high. In the last cycle, bitcoin fell from $69k high in 2021 to $15.5k bottom in 2022 which was a 78% drop. If that happens again this time round then bitcoin bottom will be $28k, surely not. If the bottom is $50k then that would represent a 60% drop from the $126k high last year which i feel is more realistic and definitely possible either next month or September.

Those who are saying why don't i just buy bitcoin now at $65k, i dont buy Bitcoin and if i did i wouldn't buy now when i feel it will go down to at least $55k so id buy then.
That is your decision. However, I just want to say that waiting for something that may never happen isn't a wise choice. I follow Bitcoin as i am mainly in top altcoins in the current top 30 and when Bitcoin crashes, alts crash a lot more and that is when i DCA the altcoins at discounted prices.
There's nothing wrong with investing in altcoin. But I think most of our portfolio should still be in Bitcoin, with only a smaller allocation to altcoin. There is no guarantee that there will be an altcoin ss in the next cycle. Also, just on the 11 weeks, its just a rough guide, the bottom could be a few weeks before or after. Either way, its only 3 months left roughly of these down times before we can start working our way up again to the next bull run over the next few years so we are nearly through the worst times.
I agree with that. Based on historical cycles, we are entering the final stage of the bear market. That means there won't be much time left to accumulate BTC at attractive prices. So make the most of every opportunity. I have nothing against those who feel Bitcoin should make up most of their portfolio but for the average guy having Bitcoin as most of your portfolio is not going to make you enough money next few years. Bitcoin might hit $200k this cycle? Thats a 3-4x from these current low prices it is at, which is good if you have $10k to invest next few months but for the average person who may only have $1-2k to invest, you have to take more risk with the safe altcoins. Many altcoins in the current top 50 will 10x next few years, as long as you spread the risk in 3 or 4 altcoins, then you will be fine as its highly unlikely all of the altcoins you invest in will go to zero but high chance at least one of them will give you great return and make it all worth it.
