If you can hit a keyword and get straight to the point on a particular topic, what's the point of stressing things?

The more you write, sometimes it complicates things without the author even realising it. At the beginning, most of the long text might have meaning, but the more you read it, the more confused you get about what the person is saying.

Try out stake that’s were most of the high rollers reside, and they have been known for massive and high payouts too.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy BTC sold for 16 BTC-1 mil USD on: May 08, 2024, 03:35:53 PM
I'm not for NFT's myself.. But it proves that digital property has value in collecting, main thing is prices will have to surge over years to become clear what the real prices will be... atm its just anyone guess and wild things happening as to many collections are coming everyday.

I don't own NFT's bc i'm not into it. But I do believe digital art will be a thing for some kind of collecting.
You are right here. Collectibles strengthen the value of owning digital properties. Over the years there will be scarcity which would give them some uniqueness thereby creating value. This goes beyond traditional digital files which can be easily duplicated or copied. Up till these days, the passion for arts is increasing so much. The rich now buy digital art for millions or billions of dollars not just because they are expensive but because they know that in decades to come the value of that art will be sold 10 times what they had bought it.

The secrets is give value to any collectible and you can choose to give it a price you want. Since your not a fan of NFT then it is good that you are a huge fan of digital art. Such that you are willing to collect as much as you can afford.

The main problem in early stages will be

A lot of people knowing each other driving the price of a few specific items and creating higher prices for them… then a unknowing person buying at a to high price for a worthless piece being stuck to it… but yeah DYOR and buy what you deem worthy I guess
In the NFT market, what actually happens most of the time is that one person can appear to be three different bodies with a lot of funds under their control. Now they create different wallets, not linking any of them to the other, come for a particular NFT, use one account to place it in the market, and use the other to buy it at a specific price.

After some time, they use another account to buy it at a much higher price. The more they continue rotating this either within a different wallet controlled by one person or the same body, the more they are also becoming aware of how that particular NFt has been making so much gain.

Whoever buys those lies will become the victim, as they will be ready to pay twice the present price just to acquire it, hoping to sell it back to the market at a much higher price. Most of the time, it all ends up with them unless another whale falls prey.
4  Other / Meta / Re: Are no-KYC services banned? on: May 07, 2024, 11:30:55 PM
As far as I know there's no official announcement of no-KYC services being banned in this forum. But perhaps it's coming?
It was not allowed for having too many similarities with a mixing service, the non-kyc part was not the issue.
In addition they also offers a mixing service indirectly, even as they claims not to be a mixer, any service which offers to take your dirty coins and give you a clean one can also be considered a mixer which such is part of the service they offer.
5  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I have been scammed. on: May 07, 2024, 06:52:03 PM
I should reinstall windows and format c:
Format your hard drive (not only drive C) and then reinstall your operating system.
And when installing the new OS, he should make sure to get a legal and licensed one from a direct dealer or straight from the company. There are a lot of pirated OS speculating on the software market, and most of them have this virus's design to only target crypto users.
6  Other / Meta / Re: What is a good tool for this? on: May 06, 2024, 09:44:38 PM
Try https://ninjastic.space/ and search for the person's username or user ID. From there, you can see their post history. If you know how to use it, you can also see their deleted posts.

For posts that have not been deleted but have been edited, you can check below each of the posts; they will show the edited changes if there are any.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think US Paypal Users would be interested in buying cryptocurrency? on: May 04, 2024, 08:22:23 PM
Quote
Also, for many people (for example, the elderly and uneducated), buying, storing, using bitcoin is something extremely complicated and therefore, such people will be very happy to use the services of intermediaries, like PayPal. Which, in a way, also act as a guarantor of security, which will be taken advantage of by their clients who want to shift responsibility to Paypal.
I don't see any difference between this and buying a Bitcoin ETF. Paypal has been known to lock users accounts ( I don't know if they have changed) who speak ill against them on social media or online.
I don't think PayPal offers crypto custody service. PayPal only serves as a payment service provider that facilitates the buying and selling of crypto. The owner can always transfer the coins to his choice wallet. So this service is different from ETF where buyers don't control or have custody of their investment.
It's true that the service is not the same as what ETF is offering, but they are also offering a custodian service for people who buy crypto from them and decide to hold it there without withdrawing. Is that not them helping the person to hold their coin for them? Is custody service far from that?

Oh yes, they can help you withdraw it to any wallet of your choice after you purchase from them. Then what? They will keep track of where even every bit of that coin is moved to start from your first withdrawal, unless you use some privacy service. Once the authorities ask for your data, they will hand it over without any second thought.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: May 04, 2024, 10:31:19 AM
Again, I am not sure when the change happened but today, by checking I see small changes than a last merit bell.
Quote
There are 108 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 32890 sMerit per 30 days
Looks like those figures are not regularly updated or probably a coincidence?
Three weeks later and it still looks the same.

Another merit source seems to have been banned. I think it will take a while before they remove him from the list.

That being said, at least there's some flow of merits lately, according to my observation.

I think the list has been updated. I checked again yesterday and am still confirming this morning that there has been one merit source added to the list, which now makes it a total of 109 merit sources from the previous 108, which was last time.

And judging from the Bpip data , there is a high possibility that the new approved moderator to the Nigerian local board could be the new merit source.
9  Other / Meta / Re: posts: leet (error?) on: May 01, 2024, 03:44:11 PM
It happens to lot of people infact about 3 threads exist about it.
Countless of threads exist about it and this will not be the last.
No doubt more threads will surface. People ask questions about things they don't understand in order to get clarification, so once's who don't have that amount of post already reach theirs, they might ask a question about it or use the search button, but it seems people like to ask questions rather than search for already existing answers.

Once’s you cross to 1337 it will show as leet instead of the number, if you check back your profile it’s no longer leet but now as post number 1338.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does it mean the poor can't breath anymore? on: April 30, 2024, 02:03:30 PM
Some corrections appear like an insult to many, depending on how the reader pictures the phrase, although I can't argue that some members don't insult newbies. Everyone must not like your first appearance—that one thing we all need to have at the back of our minds.

I have read about this newbie correction of a thing in multiple threads here in this forum, and this won't be the last. On the aspect of English, yes, everyone must not be a graduate. English is also not a mother tongue to all, but we should try as much as we can to present our sentences in at least a readable manner, knowing fully well that what they post is for the public to read and not only for the writer.

Even if you are not good at your English, you can still produce organic content, and people will appreciate it. It's not always about correct English; you can still speak all the good English and still get badmouthed.

The best way to learn in this forum, which I have accepted, is to overlook what I could accept if corrections were necessary. As I have read in one old thread, I can't remember the name of the member who made that statement. The statement goes like this: "You need to grow thick skin if you want to grow here in this forum."

In summary, those hate words can't necessarily stop, especially when some of our newbies present themselves as assholes; they don't want to learn, and all of that means we can't expect everyone to be calm in a community with 56,000+ active members. Some will definitely display their real character, and you will come across some who might be on their bad days.

And just so you know, not all newbies complained of being attacked; in fact, some of them are now figures to others due to how quick they are to learn and the things they have to offer. All fingers are not equal, but being the shortest one shouldn't be anyone's desire.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is United States going against custodial lightning wallets? on: April 27, 2024, 12:11:10 PM
The answer to the question is really simple: if you are not licensed by the US government, they don't want you to operate anything that can transmit money around, since crypto currency has been generally accepted as money, not like the old days when they saw it as something that wouldn't succeed.

The US government wants to be in control of whatever service their citizens are making use of, which can allow them to send or receive payment. Any service that can be proven to a money transmitter is either getting a corporation license or the three-letter US agency will come right after you.

Now I think they have succeeded in getting most of the centralised exchanges under their control and watch, so what's left next is self-custodial services. Don't be surprised when they go after Metamask and other web wallets that US citizens are allowed to make use of, as the SEC has already declared Metamask to be an unlicensed broker-dealer, so the next step is to get it shut down whenever they want.

The SEC, FBI, and other government agencies that are responsible for the regulation and attack on crypto firms are all doing this because they feel crypto currency and other services that offer privacy are obstructing them from having full monetarily control over their citizens finances. Like I said before, these people just make the rules to suit them and come after anything that poses a threat to them.

I appreciate the replies.

I don't know how I can "move" my initial post to the Meta discussion section.  Do you mean start a brand new post with the same inquiry in the Meta section, or is that note intended for moderators?

My original username is dominicus

Hazink shared the link on how to recover the account, maybe try redoing the account recovery process again
OK, I will try this again.

I took time off from bitcoin (and bitcointalk.org) 2015-2016, and later got distracted chatting bitcoin on Reddit. When I tried to log back into my bitcointalk account ~2017, my credentials did not work and I was not able to request a password reset.

My email has not changed since then.

Thank You all for the replies!  I'm really hopeful to post again here using my legacy account.
I hope you still have access to this your old Bitcoin address:1FkQS1RuEmSppCPdGPVGHtc4aj2nBiHAYFWhich is attached to your thread Offline Bitcoin Armoury on LiveUSB You might be required to sign in with it to prove you truly own that account.
14  Other / Meta / Re: How can someone know all the signature campaign he has joined before on: April 26, 2024, 04:00:43 PM
If you can remember all the wallets you used to apply for those campaigns, or if you make use of only one address all through, then you can easily use the address on Ninjastic and get all the threads the address has been mentioned in. From there,  you can locate the signature threads.

Edit: Staff OmegaStarScream have a faster finger which make my reply looks similar.
15  Other / Meta / Re: Help unlocking my original bitcointalk account on: April 26, 2024, 09:19:49 AM
First, I will advise you to move this thread to meta, then make it more detailed so that you can be attended to properly. The name of the account you are trying to recover, or UID, should be added for easy identification.

It will also be easier if you have anything attached to the account that could be used to verify if you are truly the owner of the account or not—something like an old, used address on the forum that you can sign in a message with, and others will verify the message.

You can also check account recovery process here
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samourai Wallet seized by the feds on: April 25, 2024, 12:50:08 AM
It is possible that Sparrow will be the next target. Only what the government will look for is allegation.
Look for an allegation you said? They will make one; if the government is after you, they don't need any strong allegation against you; they make one that they can use against you; they make the law to suit them; they interpret the law to be in their favour; and they turn whatever they don't like to be against the law that they can use against you as long as they want; all they need is the perfect time to strike once they get it, that's all.

What an instant order from above
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Question] In Regards to using translators on local boards on: April 20, 2024, 05:17:05 PM
You can freely use a translator to read through a thread which your name has been mentioned; if it's necessary to reply to that thread, you can do that in English if it's not against the local board rules. One thing I understand about the frown of using a translator to make a comment on the local board is that the result is not always accurate and can also mislead the general public about your origin.

One thread my name has been mentioned on in the past on one of the local boards, and I don’t understand their write-up was by a user named Coins-1, if I could remember correctly, which was about merit and rank up.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do miners do? on: April 19, 2024, 04:07:02 PM
Are there anything in particular they do in preparation of the halving event?
Aside from their minning rewards, they could also be part of the great accumulator gathering and saving up for the halving event, as there is a higher possibility that the price of bitcoin will increase, which could also break the new ATH.

Maybe when the market has reached a new milestone, they can sell off and equip their minning tools a little more so that they can also possibly increase their minning rewards.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problems with BRC-20 Tokens on Trust Wallet on: April 16, 2024, 07:54:40 PM
Some of the few wallets that I know accept and support BRC-20 tokens are wallets like Bitkeep, which have been rebranded to Bitget and are owned by the known Bitget exchange, and the other one is OKX wallet owned by the known OKX Exchange wallet, which highly supports BRC-20 tokens.

You can view them, transfer them, and why use that wallet, but they are both close-source wallets, just like Trust wallet, so you need to be careful when using them. I don't know about Metamask if it supports BRC-20 tokens; if not, it could have been the best recommended.

Trust wallets lack a lot of things aside from being closed source, and one thing you also need to know before using any other wallet is that the more you import your seed phrase or private key into other wallets, the more likely you are to get that wallet compromise.
