1  Other / Meta / Re: I'm not receiving email notifications on: September 21, 2022, 03:47:53 PM
Up.

Tested several topics I subscribed to since. None of them sent me an email. I will try with a personal email but seeing I'm not the only one with the problem, I'm pretty sure it comes from the Bitcointalk server, IP, or I don't know what...

@Jack
Yeah, I checked the spam folder as well.

If Theymos could check about https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/E-Mails_-_Why_are_members_not_getting_emails_sent_from_the_forum

edit 1: changed my email to see what it will do

edit 2: Alright, it works with another email (topic notification as well PM notification)
So some email providers don't receive emails coming from Bitcointalk.org and for some, it works only for a few weeks (as mentioned in the quote above). I still believe it comes from Bitcointalk, otherwise, the system (to send emails) wouldn't stop working after a few days. Email providers don't blacklist domain names depending of the weather forecast

edit 3: it doesn't work for some topics, or I shall say it already stopped to work

I don't receive email and don't Know how to enable notification.
2  Other / Meta / Re: Posting an image on bitcointalk on: September 21, 2022, 02:48:39 PM
95% of the people that responded to this question have given you the answer you need to upload image.
But if you still don't get it right, kindly Copy someone post with image and then edit it to upload your image.
Example; Go on bitcointalk, check someone post and click Quote to copy the HTML Code of the person. From there you will see the link to the users image, Delete the original link of the person by inserting your. When done copy the edited version to paste on your dashboard to upload.
That's how I learnt how to started posting image too
3  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Improvement - My Wild Idea/Suggestion. on: September 21, 2022, 02:25:09 PM
Your Idea appeared good but in another way it's not.
I will rather suggest that, an account that are not active or long login should be deactivated and logout by Forum moderators and such user's shouldn't be granted an access to the account again.

See everyone on the forum to be important because your post is meaninglessness if there is noe to learn from it. So everyone is import because we all are aiming towards one goal though from different phases of life.
7  Other / Meta / Re: User account email and password Reset. on: July 19, 2022, 09:23:18 PM
I have come to realised that account sold out are still stollen back by the seller for the reason being that they have access to the email
Your concern won't be an issue if you are not the person who sells or buys bitcointalk account from some random dude on the internet. In fact, it is their own responsibility to take of their account and distrust those people who are involved in account selling.

Plus, if you really want to avoid your account being stolen or hacked, you need to religiously follow what @tranthidung has mentioned. Create a strong password, stake your bitcoin address, and have an improved OpSec.

Oh OK. I was thinking my idea is a welcoming one.

Create a strong password, stake your bitcoin address, and have an improved OpSec.
I am dumb and did not know what is OpSec.  Embarrassed
OpSec ~ Operational Security, according to Google

I learn a new tech term today.  Tongue

You are right,

Quote
Operational security (OPSEC) is a security and risk management process that prevents sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands. Another OPSEC meaning is a process that identifies seemingly innocuous actions that could inadvertently reveal critical or sensitive data to a cyber criminal.

In short words, secure your sensitive information properly and shouldn't be compromised anyway. For example, don't store account credentials on any online device and maintain an offline notebook or something similar. And must need to keep safe places where it wouldn't steal.
Now lemme now clear you the reason why I created this topic.
I came across this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405280.msg60587645#msg60587645 on the thread few days ago. I felt the employee that created that account with the company email may still have access to the company password to the email, if this is true then I think there should be alternative for this account email to change for the employee not have full control of the account anymore.
Am sure some users may have also experience cases like. Think about this idea once more if no need then am satisfied
8  Other / Meta / User account email and password Reset. on: July 19, 2022, 06:45:11 AM
I have Taken my Time to review the forum set up and Discovered the only change that can be made to already created account is password reset.
I am suggesting if we can update the forum set up in a way that users can change the email link to their account. I created this topic because I have come to realised that account sold out are still stollen back by the seller for the reason being that they have access to the email even though the account buyer change the password to the account still they can still have access but if we can change email connecting our account after is created, it can minimize scam or stollen account related cases. This change should only be made accessible for the account owner together with strong password.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: July 18, 2022, 09:05:08 PM
I see no Reason why you must beg for something you have been assured to get when in line with the rules.
Benkbeny, the rules have not assured any member merits, if it was to be like that the administrator would have made it an automatic process on their own criteria to merits posts when they are good, but that is not how it works, member's have to give you merits, and they are not assured to give them to you, if you create good post, you stand a chance of them giving some to you, but there is no assurance of that.
Before I do worry thinking no one is reading reply because I have posted and don't have any merit but Today I am glad I have which show that I am on the right Track.
Why did you have to worry, people may have been reading your posts, but they didn't believe it deserved their merits, you do not have to worry because of that, attracting merits on a post does not mean people suddenly read your posts after not reading it for long, it means the meriter thought the posts deseved their merits and gave you some for it.
OK I get that now. But is it possible to have multiple merit on one particular post?
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: BlackHatCoiner's meriting policy on: July 18, 2022, 07:08:37 PM
This user must be nice.
Sometimes I do ask if this merit is for something else. Sometimes you reply to someone a good post but still no merit given. Hope to come across your topic someday.

Just Take your time to develop your thinking, Reading and writing skills.... Merit will surely flows in to your profile as award to the good work you put into to your posting skill.
Make research to know what every topic is about before replying to any post.

12  Other / Meta / Re: Update of Information on Aventus on: July 18, 2022, 12:10:51 PM
Good Day to you,

I am the Commercial Operations Administrator for Aventus.
I have been tasked with updating the page that you have for Aventus as all the information contained on there is out dated.

We either need permission to delete the page or to to update the page. The staff member who created this page on behalf of Aventus is no longer in their employ.

This is really urgent and I have been battling to make contact with anyone in your organization who is able to assist me.

Looking forward to your reply

Kind Regards

Avril Shackleton
avril.shackleton@avetnus.io
You can still have access to the account despite he's not active.
The email used in creating the thread account is from your company
info@aventus.io
Now you can request to change the thread password.
The password can be reset. And new one can be sent to your email. Once you have access you can edit or delete anything you want.
I created an account for a company details and the email used was for the company. Still I can have access to the company account but once the company request to change password automatically I will lost access to the account since I don't access to the email logins.
13  Other / Meta / Re: Issues With The Forum's Search Engine on: July 18, 2022, 11:54:41 AM
I don't think this fault is from Forum but rather your network provider.
Be sure your network signal is in good order and try again. Most cases I encounter such error on Google search as a result of poor signal.
14  Other / Meta / Re: I just got a really weird PM on: July 17, 2022, 11:33:51 PM
Anybody know anything? Huh
This is a known phishing scam attempt and it happened to me in bitcointalk forum few years ago, by hacked a now banned member kingpin4321.
I see this member who sent you message is now also banned, but best way is to report messages like this to moderator right away, and never click on any links you receive.
Generally speaking I don't trust any links I receive in forum or by emails and I always double check them.

Scammer has gone an extra mile to define mean to trap people by sending just a link to click in and once that is done your IP address display to them and them defines means to track your record and hack your account. Let's all be careful on link we click.
15  Other / Meta / Re: OP posting easier identification system on: July 17, 2022, 11:23:31 PM
Alternatively, what you can do is scroll up to the first post. Copy the name of OP, hit CTRL+F followed by CTRL+V to paste the OPs username into the search field. .

im lazy af and im sure others here are too.
It's might not be necessary for everyone but such can be given attention for who cares.

17  Other / Meta / Re: Profile Rank and Merit Relationship on: July 17, 2022, 10:59:37 PM
I have observed that some members on the platform have up to 3,000+ Merits and some have just none. Meanwhile some are in a particular rank for a long time. Mine is over a year and I am still a Newbie.

The question is,

Does getting to a new membership Rank dependent on Merits, or they are just two independent awards?
In Bounty you may not easily get caught in plagiarism but Trust me here you can get caught.
So be careful of your posting, getting merit is not a child play at all. So you gat work your ass to get the quality post for that merit.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Notifications For Replies in Forum Posts! on: July 17, 2022, 10:47:02 PM
I don't trust 3rd party options.
Understandable.
In that case, you can use my simple bot which is built on python: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5146905

The code is very easy to read(even if you don't know python). It does its intended work except for one drawback: It may repeat the notification a couple of times. This can be easily fixed if you know python.
I may update it later this week.

It requires very little resource to run(if your machine can run python and is connected to the internet then it will work). If you have any useless raspberry pi lying around, or you can run it in the background 24x7 on your android phone with termux.

Can this work with Phone?
19  Other / Meta / Re: What Would Be Your Reason to Leave Bitcointalk? on: July 14, 2022, 12:57:48 AM
I don't have any reason why I should leave the forum yet since am still new.
But I don't pray to see any reason because I am enjoying the company here
20  Other / Meta / Re: Guest safety on: July 14, 2022, 12:44:19 AM
I Think The Maim Idea of establishing this forum is to to share idea and innovation on bitcoin and other altcoin. The features is to help the forum members or users our main target is not the guest but the users. Besides that it's also left for any users who already know the different features of the forum to considered if they will or not participate on scam Project.
