1  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Patience is not enough for hodling Bitcoin on: Today at 10:44:00 AM
~snip~
You have valid points here because some people don't put having a steady inflow into consideration because that is the only way to back up your long term investment plan so if there is no steady flow of income you can be tempted to touch your holdings even when you have a long term targets because in some situations you can't bear to see that you have Bitcoins in your portfolio and deny yourself some certain things just because you want your investment to bear much fruits in the future. Having a regular source of income is the only way to be patient enough while waiting for your investments to mature in the long run.
Before hand we are always advised to have a good cash flow and an emergency funds that could last for at least 3-6 months but here in our country it's not too applicable as most of us do not follow the pattern introduced by these people here. But certainly it's the best thing one can do, you can not say you are a long term holder when you don't have anything doing with your life as it's paramount for your well being and a healthy investment.

Most people do not really care about themselves, so doing the right thing is not always there problem until there is a real problem then they will start looking for solution hence selling their assets my be the next option.
2  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As a newbie to crypto currency on: Today at 10:28:26 AM
I'm not a trader but I believe trading has some prerequisites that onr needs to meet you with before they can begin to gain substantial from the market but when a newbie fails to follow this patterns then it turns out to be flaw in them hence being prone to losses.

Here in the forum a lot of people do not like trading as they only buy and hold but if you're convinced enough to go in to trading I will encourage you to do such but you most know the first and don't that are involved before you can dive in fully.

Additionally I have seen that the difference between crypto traders and crypto investors have been made clear to you. Although we can use the world bitcoin instead of crypto investors because the way it seems it's more about holding bitcoin than any other coin.
3  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to avoid bitcoins and other crypto fraud on: Today at 10:05:04 AM
The way the world is right now, people falling for scam in the crypto space is mostly self caused issues, a lot of people are just to greedy to them selves to the extent of wanting the whole world to be theirs in twinkle of an eye. Such people always end you get miss lead or bankrupt with such desires. If one can only be very careful or what they are dealing with them cyber crime will reduce because we aid in the process.

In a decentralised world, everyone is in charge of whatever happens around their assets, you much in the best of your vigilant behaviour to survive every attack that comes in the crypto world. Anyways all the list out ways to avoid the attacks are correct and a lot of people has contributed equally to make sure we all stay safe out there.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Harmful effect of robot to the world. on: Today at 12:34:50 AM
The use of robot in the world is really affecting the economy and also causing unemployment.
If you build a company and you are making 1 million dollars as profit every month and then spends 6000 thousand dollars to pay your works and then you are given the opportunity to buy robots for 1 million dollars that will do the jobs your works are doing without it having faults for 10 years won't you go for it there by sacking your workers.
In the next 10 years there will be high rate of unemployment in the world because job's that should be done by humans are now given to robots and by so doing it will also affect the economy of the world.

While this may be true, the emergence of AI and robotics can actually replace some of the blue-collared works.

In a business perspective, this can definitely lower their costs long-run if robots can replace what humans can do on factories. Since you only need to maintain the said machines and their processes, this is cheaper than hiring labourers to do the work. Unfortunately, this can quite affect the employment rate of some workers who focus mainly on blue-collared jobs (e.g. factory men, etc.).

While this may be true, there are still jobs that cannot be replace by robots and AI no matter how advance the former may be. For example, jobs that require a human element (e.g. lawyers, etc.) cannot be replaced by these machines at all cost.
So many people are so concerned about how AIs will performance in future, whereas they can just update themselves to a standard where AIs will find it difficult to replace them.

One thing I know is certain about AIs is that they are automated and can not adapt to new changes except the programers will have to rewrite the codes in order for them to respond to human changes and that's why it's very difficult for an AI to replace a lawyer as the job of a lawyer is pretty much change prone or adaptive in nature hence AIs can't really have effect in some industries in the world.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Oil producing countries experiencing hardship. on: Today at 12:26:08 AM
I believe you're being biased with your judgements, maybe your experiences and current location or government isn't doing too well even with the natural resources in it. One thing that one must know is that national management is far more important than the natural resources, if a countries management isn't too good I don't except it to maximise its natural resources.

Using UAE as an example and Nigeria my country too, the big difference is national management. If the natural resources in Nigeria today is being maximised then it would been as much as the UAE. Even with the Hydro and Electric based services, I think that will not still push away the values of crude in the world today and in the nearest future.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is all wealth? on: Today at 12:15:14 AM
When there is financial needs it seems money is every thing but at end of getting the money you will find out that there is really nothing in the money. You have to decide whether you will be happy or not because currently the world is not a too good place everything in it revolves around money but when you find these money and along the line you loss the real things that matters such as family, happiness, health etc then you will realise that money isn't everything.

You can make the world a happy place for you, it all depends on you.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to be wealthy you need action on: Today at 12:05:36 AM
There is one quote I have seen few times and this what it says " Motivation keeps you going but actions keeps you growing" what does that mean? Action speaks louder than voices, it's best for one to be fully in action that keep getting motivations which is not put into practice.

I believe that the ability to take action after acquiring knowledge is what mades up wisdom or it's the real definition of wisdom. Is not enough to acquire knowledge or it's not enough to get motivation but it's better to acquire the knowledge in the process of taking actions.
And that's one characteristics of a successful man. There are fascinated by actions not to promises.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Price is Down Today? on: May 11, 2024, 11:45:34 PM
Bitcoin is volatile! Is that not enough reason for the price to fall and rise too?

It's more like a natural phenomenal for bitcoin. It goes up when the market choices to go in that direction, no one is actually in control of how bitcoin price will move. So it's normal to see declines in the price at a given moment, and at some time it goes up too.

Although sometimes there are actually causes of price movement, news can be part of it but yet that doesn't determine how volatile it will be, it's just the nature of bitcoin to always go up and down.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is it right to invest in Bitcoin? on: May 11, 2024, 11:36:41 PM
Investing in bitcoin is not something you can just start doing, proper knowledge and planning is needed. Knowing that it is best invested as a short term for beginners like me and long term for experience investors so as to make profit.
You're very wrong, if you continue with this notion you might end up making bad decisions in bitcoin investment. Bitcoin is not best for beginners in short term rather it's generally best for everyone to invest and hodl for a long term.

-When is it the right time to invest in bitcon?
Personally, I consider the best time to invest in bitcoin to be any time I have the availability or the capacity to buy and hold, the. It's my best time to invest.

Perhaps it obvious that buying the dip is a very good time to invest as it serves as a discount to one when buying.

-How can one start planning?
Apparently you don't need to much plan to start you can start any where and anyhow, the starting doesn't determine the end.
All you need is the capital and a secured wallet the rest will be learnt along the line. You can also read the suggestions of others.

-How do you follow up your bitcoin investment and other businesses?
Bitcoin investment is not a job! So you can just have it in a wallet and go about your daily business except you want to start trading it then you will have to take much of your time to think, analyse and make decisions hence you can follow up bitcoin investment by just checking out what's happening around bitcoin using the forum and other unforeseen resources.

-What are the assurance that you are ready?
This is up to you. As soon as you make up your mind then you are ready.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ? on: May 11, 2024, 11:18:42 PM
I see that current youth is inspired by celebrities and influencers in big way. Did you also start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ? Or you know people who belong to that category ? Is it a wise decision to do so or we should do our own research for better results ?
First I'm not excepting such a question.

Yes I know a lot of people are fascinated by the likes of their celebrities but does that really make any sense? Like to jump into something because someone you don't know or know as a result of constant watching in movies or music does advertise or show off his or her achievements via a thing that you don't really have good knowledge about. It's more like looking in to a river and decided to jump in then to realise that it's more deep than expected.

Although one way or the other it's good to try out things whether you know them or not but buying bitcoin or investing in bitcoin when you don't really know about it is only going to end up putting the person in a hot soup as when it's volatile nature shows up it will seem like the world is over for such person.
All I say is it's best to research and find out how things work before putting a dime into it instead of trying and then regret your actions.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FED action against bitcoin & crypto on: May 11, 2024, 11:09:35 PM
~Snip~

You're absolutely correct, infact I'm amazed with your responses it shows we think alike here.

From the origin anything that has to do without the government controls seems to be an attack on them. They get nervous, feeling like the world is now on there shoulders. How can a set of people want to own a life that they can not create? There are almost in charge of everything except the breath we take in yet they do not want to let go of bitcoin in particular as it has been a big record that it's decentralised nature is the highest of all time.

Now what ever that will make bitcoin decentralised nature more better is been attacked and destroyed. But one thing is certain, they can not destroy bitcoin whether they like it or not.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will cryptocurrencies see a new wave after Trump's election? on: May 11, 2024, 10:54:25 PM
I don't really know why this people always use cryptocurrency as an advocate for their selfish interest. Whether during tenure of Biden the rate of arrest/attack on cryptocurrency supporting firms are high or not this politicians are the same, they aren't going to do anything special about the cryptocurrencies all they want is to use that to achieve there interest.

The fact that majority of people in the US are beginning to use cryptocurrency to an extent Trump is just using that as a to get the people's vote but from perspective his never going to help in any way.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Non custodial wallet is not for the weak on: May 10, 2024, 07:49:11 PM
Perhaps all of the responsibilities that comes with a non custodian wallet is the price paid for ones security. If you want the best you have to pay more for the extra satisfaction that makes it the best, which is taking full responsibility of everything that happens within and outside your wallet.

It's worth knowing that one does not invest in a non custodian wallet rather one stores or saves his or her assets in a non custodian wallet.
14  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Multi-sig vs single-sig wallets for future unknowns on: May 09, 2024, 07:22:45 PM
AFAIK, it's impossible to guess the exact 12 words of a wallet. But in the future scenario that you speculated it might be possible for a bug to be found in future for a single-sig wallet because everything usually gets weak as time goes on even the most secured wallet might not be secured in future that's how time evolution works but for now it's very impossible to find the 12/24 matching mnemonic seed phrase of a wallet. That's why a multi-sig wallet is very much safer than a single Sig wallet.

Perhaps this question has been answer several times and if you're new to the forum you wouldn't know if it's has been answered or not but if you're saying other wise then you are still very wrong.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will happen to BTC if Government gets involved? on: May 06, 2024, 02:14:55 AM
It's no news that governments wants to have control over bitcoin but it's very impossible but they can obviously regulate it's use through various means but the word "Control" is not compatible with bitcoin as they both deviate each other.

Did you just say bitcoin (crypto) is used for criminals? Is there any currency that is not used by criminals? Before there the introduction of cryptocurrency this said crimes that has is been attached to bitcoin and crypto at large has been in existence and transactions has been going on with the governments fiat. I can proudly say the statement that bitcoin and/or crypto is used by criminals is just an excuse by the governments as they do not have any reason for the hate of bitcoin rather than it's a decentralised currency that they do not have control over as they can print as much as fiat they want but bitcoin is 21million limited.

El Salvador has already made bitcoin a legal tender in their country and that had a good effect on the market (temporarily). That's the only country that has seen the best part of bitcoin and decides to adopt it. So if other governments decides to adopt it as a legal tender it's not going to be a surprise.

We have discussed related topics here over and over so if you must know a lot of people already thought of that.

17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: May 05, 2024, 09:55:14 AM
Playing excessively often leads to an addictive behavior which one cannot avoid because if we become addicted to something then it becomes very difficult for us to leave therefore gambling should be thought of as a hobby but should not alter this hobby into addiction.
Anything that will be considered hobby can be easily addictive, infact there is a close line between hobby and addiction and this line is the major problems with gamblers as they do not try to differentiate the two from each other hence leading them into serious addiction.

If you ever want to gamble and not get addicted to you then you have to start learning to take a break in gambling, not only when you lose that you have to take a break but also when you feel like it's not too important for you to gamble. Some time ago I gambled regular with out season or time but I discovered that it's becoming a very habit to gamble so I took a break and after some time I went back again hence I don't feel the urge to gamble as before. This self-control is a big initiative to know in the line or addiction and hobby.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC? on: May 05, 2024, 09:48:46 AM
Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC?
No! I do not think so and I can't even imagine casinos not requesting KYC because it's more like a standard now.

The government introduced them to it or should I say force them into it and now they are fascinated by KYC, as criminals can easily be phished out through their identities in thr casinos. Money laundering is a most effective reason for it so since they have to keep protecting their interest in order keep operating.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 05, 2024, 09:00:57 AM
Turning a hobby into a business sounds so fun! But I bet it has its challenges too.  What did you do for fun that you managed to monetize? I wanna hear all about how you went from hobbyist to entrepreneur!

Tell me, what struggles popped up as you worked to turn your passion into a profit? How did you push past them? Got any pro tips you can share to help other hobby lovers try to make it big? I love hearing stories of folks who bet on themselves and won.

I'm a good exam of this for real! It's funny how I used my hobby to as a means of earning (monetized my hobby). I loved to be creative and I usually snap any thing I see, I take pictures of almost every thing and some time ago my elder sister started asking me to take her pictures with my mobile phone, I was good at it as it was my hobbycraft, people saw this pictures how good it was and started begging me to snap them and they will pay for it, i never accepted because i was doing it for work but a hobby but when i saw that was a means to make money I switched to monetizing it, although it became hard as my intention was all about the money and nothing else mattered anymore. I struggled to even get a camera but it wasn't possible so I borrowed anytime I got opportunity or I was hired for the job.

I'm even hoping to get one of my own soon, although I'm now getting mature to handle things back then I was a kid.
20  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make you no leave very small Satoshi, for wallet during bear run. on: May 05, 2024, 08:46:14 AM
E get one big thing wey you dey forget, if you get $10 worth of BTC today and bitcoin drop till your $10 turn to $0.0 that amount of BTC wey you buy still dey the wallet, let's say na 0.00016 as of today price this your 0.00016 BTC go remain this number e no go ever change but the price in dollar don drop to zero. So if bitcoin still rise after many years wey you get I'm for that wallet you go see say your money still dey or e go even planty pass the normal na one big thing wey plenty people never understand about bitcoin.

As long as say you get your wallet phrase secured just keep that small thing wey you get hodl to any time of your life as long as say you fit do without that money. Just keep hodling one day you go see the benefit, for that your own na because you still need the money na why U thing say e dey very necessary to remove every dime from your wallet.
