41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why some wallet don't display seed phrase? on: September 12, 2024, 10:53:49 AM
What can I do to recover my funds if I lose access to my wallet due to computer failure or lost phone, and I don't know my seed phrase, especially if the wallet didn't display the seed phrase during setup?

Absolutely nothing you can do to recover your funds if you don't have the seed phrases. Refer to popular saying in this space; Not your key, not your coins. That's to tell you that the funds are not yours completely if you don't have the keys and you can possibly lose them any time.

Most especially I'm concerned about wallet that don't display seed phrase. Thank you

Every wallet display seed phrase upon registration unless it is a custodial wallet (mostly exchanges). You probably skipped the page that displays your seed phrase unknowingly.

Next time, please be specific when asking a question so you can get a clear answer. If you have mentioned the wallet, people will know if it's a custodial or non custodial wallet.
42  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading isn't just a game of skills on: September 12, 2024, 10:35:06 AM
You have to open your friend eyes to reality not to be deceived by what he sees. As lucrative as trading is, the risk involved is more than you can imagine. You don't just lose some money, you also lose yourself if you are not careful. If you actually successful as you claimed, let him know the challenges you faced in the process before reaching this level.

By the way, what do you trade?

What they will never understand is that skill being the vital factor in trading isn't just enough, and also one thing a have come to learn about trading for the pass 2year is that once  you conquer the game of skill I gust you are at the top.....

The two statements above that I bolded in your post, are they not contradicting or I am the one that don't understand? You first said that skill is not just enough and then said that once you conquer skill you're at the top. How does it sound? I don't know how you'll clarify this but AFAIK, skill plays a vital role in crypto trading.

Erik Ten Hak is having a pretty serious problem right now and he is facing a team performance problem that is not getting any better.
This season he has added players but there has been no real change and it is still quite difficult for him to develop players to get games best in getting full points.
It is true that only three games have been played and there may be many opportunities for him to evaluate but these two defeats are a problem.
Of the two defeats that Manchester United has experienced, it will certainly trigger many bitter assessments for Ten Hag because he is considered unable to build the Manchester United team well even though there are new players brought into the Manchester United team at this time. But if Ten Hag can think more wisely in conditions that are not easy like this season, of course he must be able to give all his best efforts to the team so that Manchester United does not continue to experience defeat this season, especially if they lose to the promoted team in the upcoming match.

Forget about the new players that they just signed, Manchester united has a well to do squad even without bringing new players. The source of their poor result is the couch. He's actually a good couch per se but he has caused his own downfall the moment he start selecting players based on sentiment and favoritism. That his ego is the Genesis of the mess they found themselves in all this while. The day he change his attitude, remains focused and talk less  will be the beginning of new era for them. Quite alright, you can not win every game in football but the nature of their defeat is always embarrassing. I have not seen a couch so satisfied with mediocre performance before like Ten Hang seriously.

I know many Nigerians will be angry with the result of the game because the Super eagles were suppose to have an easy win over Rwanda. IMO it wasn’t a bad outcome for us. The Super eagles have secured four points from the last two games. Osimhen is not very fit at the moment and just completing his move to Galatasaray, though he scored in the last game I still feel he needs some time. We have good players like Awoniyi and Boniface who are also good and able to start ahead of Victor Osimhen.

This is what I was expecting too but luckily our people were fair enough with our super eagle players. I like how Nigerians normally react with criticism when our boys play poorly and appreciate them when they play excellently. Our game with Rwanda did not turn out as expected but the performance from our boys earned them a word of appreciation because most comments I have come across online and offline are positive comments with encouragement to put more effort in their next game. I think having four points from two games with three goals scored without conceding a single goal is not a bad result. Moreover, Nigeria still control the top spot of the table with few games to go.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the differences between this 2 gamblers? on: September 11, 2024, 11:05:12 AM
Do not let yourself to be deceived, no one can win that often, those that claim they do are either ignorant about how those casinos games work or they are scammers themselves trying to get people to give them money.

And it is easy to verify this is the case since the only thing you need is a little bit of knowledge about the odds behind the game of your preference and a spreadsheet software to simulate those results, and I can assure you that as long as the sample size is high enough, such a high win percentage will never happen.

Is there any gambler that still believes winning consistently is possible in gambling? I think only newbie gamblers will be the one to believe such fallacies. Although, some people play once in a blue moon and luckily win whenever they decide to play but that doesn't make them a serial winner because they are not regular gambler. If it is possible to win every bet, they'll probably not be interested in people's money before sharing their games with them. They normally use gullible gamblers to cash out to recover their own loses and predict games with double chances. If you are familiar with gambling, you'll definitely not pay anyone for games even if they claim to have been winning consistently because it's not possible.

Only porn stars will partake in this competition and I will not bet on such.

Sorry to prove you wrong that not only porn stars will partake in the competition, many people will show interest and in fact we already have one here  Grin Grin Grin

Rather than to be the bettors, I would like to participate as the participant, even I didn't win at least I've fuck someone. Cheesy

Can't believe this  Grin you're joking right?

If it turns out to be real, its going to be the first sport without real spectators because I don't think any sensible human will be interested to pay just to see another person having live sex. There would probably be a lot of rape cases after the show.

Either participant or bettor, it's disgusting.
47  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is now a good time to sell or buy bitcoin? on: September 11, 2024, 07:43:10 AM
People like this are usually people who have never been in 1 bitcoin cycle or about 4 years with bitcoin, the average new person who does and has such a nature.
When prices drop fear, when prices rise FOMO, until whenever people like this will not get a decent profit from bitcoin, but I think they will learn from their mistakes if they already have 1 cycle experience with bitcoin, more or less will understand the bearish and bullish of bitcoin and can have a mental addition to how to invest in bitcoin.

To implement this, a good financial strategy is needed, such as one of which we must have cash to increase the accumulation of bitcoin when the price drops.

That's a typical behavior of newbies in the industry with no interest to invest or to do their research. One doesn't need to told of when to sell or to buy as long as they've taken time to check bitcoin price history but they prefer to be instructed of what to do. One thing to note is that people like this are not ready for the good or bad of the market, they are only interested in making quick money in a short time.

There's no bad time to buy bitcoin as long as one is ready to hold for a long time but buying at dip is more advantageous and profitable but time for selling is absolutely your decision to take if you think you are satisfied with the profit. You don't have to invest in bitcoins based on people opinion, engage in personal research to know what is good for you.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin mainstream looks like to me, what's yours? on: September 11, 2024, 07:14:46 AM
Another reason to say that we are early is the price of bitcoin. I think every Bitcoin enthusiast here believes that bitcoin will one day get to thousands of dollars in six figures or even million for one, imagine someone that got bitcoin at the price it is today wouldn’t that be seen as been super early on it? So I think with these we can say we are still early

I have the same belief that starting now is still very early. Of course, it can not be compared to adopters who started as early as it was invented but reading through this thread shows that we are early and there is still a long way to go.

Government can intervene so much but when we stop converting BTC to Fiat they can't do anything serious since we're on our own.

And this is the biggest issue because in one way or another we are going to convert to fiat even if assume that BTC is widely accepted. What Op describe as bitcoin mainstream looks unrealistic to me unless we are not ready to witness it anytime soon.
49  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2025 Qualifiers - CAF. on: September 10, 2024, 03:31:09 PM
The Rwanda attack on the supper eagles defense on the second half was stronger than the first half, with the way the both side is struggling getting over 0.5 on this match may not even be possible, well it would have been very nice if the supper eagles will win this match so that it will add for them on there table, today's match is tougher for them because the Rwanda team is very difficult to beat if not with all the efforts of Lookman and Osimhen they would have gotten one goal by now, though I think it would have been more better if Osimhen had played on the first half instead of the second half because on the first half Rwanda team was a bit weak, so that would have been the opportunity for Osimhen to utilize.

I said this earlier that Nigeria should not underrate Rwanda because from the results of their previous meetings you'll see how sturbon and solid they've always been against Nigeria. It's not the result we wanted and I must admit that super eagle played a perfect match but unfortunately the officiating was too bad. I see nothing wrong with that fantastic goal that refree canceled.

I have the same belief too that Osimhen would have score at least one or more if the couch had start with him from first half. All praise to Rwanda goal keeper who denied super eagle numerous goals with those excellent saves.
50  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [PSA]: Do not fall for this kind of trick on: September 10, 2024, 11:30:29 AM
Cheap scam trick, no platform would ever create a seed phrase for you, how can one even think of sending their money into a non-custodial wallet that was created by a third party.

Is it possible to know if people actually fell for this, or not? Because i am curious to know, if a crypto user falls for this scam, then TBH, they really have no business using crypto, because they do not even understand the basics, hell their funds shouldn't even be stored in Gemini's platform in the first place.

Tbh, this is very cheap format that only supposed newbies should fall victim to. Too many foul play that even a newbie is not supposed to fall into their trap. Non custodial wallet but the seed phrases were sent through email making it vulnerable. Secondly, suppose there is such lawsuit and Gemini wants their users to withdraw their funds, does it make any sense to tell them where to withdraw their funds to? I don't think so.

I won't be surprised seeing people falling for this trick because some people are into this technology without a single knowledge of security checks or measures and would be desperate to do whatever they're being told to do. Moreover, in cases like this Gemini will definitely have to publish a notice on their media platforms to notify their users.
51  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have two mindsets in crypto and irl world? on: September 10, 2024, 11:08:38 AM
I definitely know what the OP is alluding to. In the past I have maybe spent more using crypto than I would on certain purchases with fiat. When you see 0.01BTC vs $570 it does feel like you’re spending less. It’s kind of a detached from reality feeling. We must try to stop doing this though as Bitcoin increases in value over time. It can be even worse if you look at how much Bitcoin you spent for example 6 years ago.

I'm still suffering from this digital effect when it comes to spending in general. Mine is not only specific to crypto but online payment in general. I have no problem spending huge amount online through mobile transfer but I will have problem spending same amount with cash. I do feel spending extravagant whenever I'm dealing with cash but will spend much more than that with any form of digital payment without feeling disturbed. Probably, this happens simply because there's no tangible value but a mere digit in wallet/account and fiat give a grasp of actual value. Going through my transaction history sometimes, it is not possible for me to have spent such amount if I should be holding cash.
52  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2024/2025 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: September 10, 2024, 10:44:37 AM
~Snip
With the current problem which the two clubs are having currently, they both won’t be able to make it to the top 4 because the two clubs have lots of things that they are supposed to fix, and it’s going to be a gradual process, not something they can just fix easily, so I don’t think both Manchester United and Chelsea will be able to make it to the top 4, and with Manchester United's current performance, I am even expecting them to end the season in the worst position and not expecting anything special from them this season.

I won’t just be surprised if I see Manchester United end the season in the middle of the table. With their current performance, I just have the feeling that that’s where they're going to end the season because their coach is not making any impact on the team.
Manchester United's main problem at the start of this season was that they did not have a truly productive striker and a strong defense. In 3 matches, Manchester United was only able to score 2 goals and conceded 5 goals. This statistic illustrates how weak they are compared to other teams, even Chelsea is still better if goal productivity is compared.

So far, Chelsea also doesn't have a strong defense, of course because they are as bad as Manchester United, where they have conceded 5 goals in 3 matches. Chelsea and Manchester United are not favorites to be in the top four at the end of the season, but they could improve over time and gain the best places.

Forget about Manchester united attack and defense, which part of their squad is working perfectly? Absolutely none. Starting from the head couch who makes irrelevant changes to their goal keeper who makes silly mistakes that usually lead to goals. The midfield is not left out too with their lack of coordination and constant losing of possessions. The attack is worse than any other position you can think of.

Manchester united is the easiest team to play against now in the premier League because they're very bad in every fundamentals. I'm fair enough to predict them finishing at position eight on the table. It is hard to tell which one is more better between Chelsea and Manchester united but Chelsea seems to be slightly better than United judging from the games played so far and statistics from each game.

Here we go again as Nigeria super eagle take on Rwanda on their play ground at Kigali by 15:00.

Super Eagle is the favorite team with odds of 1.5 while Rwanda to win is 6.5. Does this mean super eagle will win the match? Absolutely No! Nigeria should not take Rwanda for granted despite their convincing victory against Benin republic in their last match.

Nigeria has recorded one victory and two draw against Rwanda in their previous meetings. What is your expectation today?
54  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How do you tell an exchange is a scam ? on: September 09, 2024, 10:49:23 AM
Since you are still new to cryptocurrency, judging from your account age, I will advise you to use only recognised and popular exchanges such as Binance, Bitget and Bybit.... maybe with time you will be able to know how to assess other exchanges before using them. This will save you the pain of losing your crypto to scams because there are many platforms that claim to be exchange which are all setups to steal people's money.

I have seen some Telegram groups claiming to be a platform to exchange people's cryptocurrency to fiat and vice versa but if you try to trade with them, your money will be lost. Just be careful because there are scammers everywhere.

Sometimes, I do think that people who are new to cryptocurrency are always interested to bring problem upon themselves because I don't understand why someone can not stick to popular exchanges with reputation when you can not tell between legit and scam exchange. I know Op is asking a reasonable question but I don't think it's necessary for someone who's just beginning his journey to start looking for scam exchanges when they are available ones they can use confidently.

Op, there are many ways to identify a scam exchange aside the ones you mentioned. Offering lower fees doesn't make an exchange to be a scam, Infact, it's a strategy to gain customers but when it's too good to be real,  it's probably a scam. Trading volume is one thing to observe as well because some exchange fake trading volume. If they're not transparent, they can not be reliable. You'll get to know more as you continue to progress your journey in this industry. For now, just keep to what Oduhu suggested and use only reputable and popular ones.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found my reason, you can also find yours if you try on: September 09, 2024, 10:24:14 AM
On a scale of 1–30, there is no way I can come out in my street, busy area, mall, or mall and ask people within the age range of 20 years and upward that out of that 30 up to 5 of them won't have an idea of what bitcoin is, even if they don't hold any; they will definitely have little basis knowledge of what it is.

From the way airdrop is making crypto-wide spread The internet is an open space where such information can be gotten for free, especially bitcoin value, unless those who I ask are not exposed to the internet and don't make use of smart phones.

You probably live in a very exposed area where people are familiar with cryptocurrency. Mind you, bringing airdrop into discussion is giving me a different feeling that those people might not have idea about bitcoin in particular but cryptocurrency in general. If I should use the same scale as yours, I will hardly get that number with full or little knowledge of Bitcoin. Although more than half of that scale number might be familiar with airdrop or cryptocurrency but not bitcoin or it's value. Moreover, those who might have heard about it will assume it as a scam or ponzi scheme.

I will like to let you know that youths in my country prefer crimes way of making money than going the right legit ways, I am not ashamed to pass the information out, most of them are into scams, I know this because there are many arrests on youths around the age of 18 to 28 that are into online frauds.

I don't want to be specific but I'm confident it's Africa. The same thing is happening here and they are making people to believe bitcoin is a scam. Majority of these fraudsters claim to be a crypto trader but doing online fraud on a low key to cover their fraudulent acts.
56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Americans Spend More Money Betting On Sports Than Investing In Stocks" on: September 09, 2024, 09:53:27 AM
You can invest S&P 500 (SPX) and see it grow in the long term, but you are right - most people choose the thrill of gambling, the one which is understandable for them and is short-term, so to speak.
It's the truth.

Emphasis on the long-term , how long are you going to wait to take your profit? That's where the problem lies. You can not just assume to have invested in a certain stock without certainty of when your profit is due to harvest while you have a similar way that gives results in a blink of eyes. Patience and risk are the two things to take note here. Investing in stocks requires a lot of patience for as long as possible but the risk is very less. The recent generation choose to risk over patience not only in America but almost every part of the world. Gambling is easily accessible and can transform your life from nothing to something if you hit the jackpot. On the other side, you can also fall from hero to zero if care is not taken.
57  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What’s better to make a good profit - Trading or Gambling? on: September 09, 2024, 09:32:03 AM
In addition, there are quite a lot of trading fields, such as spot trade, future trade, arbitrage trade and others, so you can choose options, each type has its own level of risk and profit, in principle as I said it is very worthy to be used as an option to find income in this profession.

Gambling is just putting and hoping, there is no risk management on what we might be able to do, and when we lose, our money is gone, and in terms of the mechanism for finding opportunities, trading can be calculated using in-depth analysis and the formula never changes.

Both trading and gambling are not better option to make profits, they are supposely alternatives to our physical sources of income. People tend to think of profits whenever these two are being mentioned as if it has no consequences. Trading is the hardest way to make easy money in cryptocurrency. You pay for every single mistake you make with dollars, not apologies. As for gambling, are we gambling to make profits in the first place? The answer depends on what you believe but rest assured that both gambling and trading are not a reliable way to make profits no matter what you believe.

Why do we even compare profit from trading with profit from gambling? I dont get either why we call it profit from gambling, as this is the amount won. At the same, these two activities are totally different. If people need to learn first how to analyze asset for purchase, then a newbie within few minutes will understand how to bet and how the game works. But, with a proper approach and luck, both trading and gambling can bring profit. However with trading it will be more easy or lets say it forgives some mistakes and gives short time to fix the situation. In gambling, when bet is lost, nothing can be done anymore.

They are actually similar but not the same despite that the risk involved is the same which is losing money. Trading has manual for beginners and with time they can get used to it and able to minimize the risk of losing money but gambling is totally out of your control. I don't want to refer to gambling win as a profit since it's not specifically designed for that but people have changed the whole thing about gambling.
58  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin confirmed, blockchain explorer shows but nothibg in wallet.... on: September 08, 2024, 02:28:55 PM
Perhaps, Op was able to resolve the issue and probably gotten his money back. He's not active after making this complain thread. He would have followed up to see people suggestions and way forward if the amount in question is dare to him.

I'm surprised the OP didn't check people's reviews before downloading it. There aren't many reviews, but there are some that immediately discourage me from using such a wallet.
I think the Android app is unavailable because it was completely removed from the store, but the fact that the wallet is still present on https://apps.apple.com proves to me once again that everything there is based on money.

Apple claims to be ultra scrupulous with these things, but still let that App slip in the App Store? I'm outraged right now, many legit apps don't get listed but this one stays there even after all the warnings?

Fortunately it's not much money, and I hope it's true that it is self-custodial and OP can get it back, but the fact they claim to protect us and think that some people are at risk of losing life-changing money because of their neglect is outrageous.

In as much as people's review give us insight about the app, we should also note that the reviews are personal and based on individuals experience with the app. I once need an app for important assignment but the reviews got me confused and discouraged but I have no option than to download the app. Fortunately, I have a smooth experience with the app contrary to the reviews. I think we shouldn't always judge based on reviews but we should be extra careful if it has to do with finance because too much negative reviews is a  red flag.

Maybe, apple hasn't received same review that made Google to delete the app in their platform.
59  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AI: Friend or Foe to Traders? on: September 08, 2024, 02:02:12 PM
The answer to your question in the thread topic depends on how one utilized and perceived AI. In some aspects like data analysis, automation and risk management, AI can be seen as a friendly tool. In other aspects, AI is perceived as a threat to human jobs, market manipulation and causes over reliance making traders to be too relaxed with critical thinking skills. If you look at the latter aspects, it's a disadvantage for traders.

Although, AI development and deployment requires funding by human entities but they certainly have no personal uses for money and cryptocurrency. Not only money or crypto, they don't have any physical desires because they only exit in digital realm. Moreover, I don't see them replacing human entirely in every aspect since they rely on human provided resources. Of course, they can study and interact with financial markets but their actions will still be determined based on how they are being programmed.

So, because of AI, it's becoming dangerous to use many existing bots for trading.

Is there any difference between AI and trading bot in the first place? I do see them as interchangeable terms.
60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to maximize winning potential and control excessive gambling habits on: September 08, 2024, 12:32:55 PM
Gamblers in Early stage, lost a lot because they don't set any rules to follow but keep staking randomly with excitement. That's why it is important to follow some rules and discipline which will help money management and control gambling habits. Furthermore will help you, not to become addicted in gambling.

Being a first time gambler actually comes with lots of excitement because I also experienced it. When you start gambling newly, you'll be overwhelmed with excitement to win without thinking of risk management but at times goes and when reality begins to set in, you'll have a rethink and design a plan for yourself else you'll end up losing more than you can imagine and probably end up getting addicted.

Quote
Your 1st and 3rd point can be marge together, like set a Gambling Budget from 5-10% of your monthly salary or income from others sources. 2nd point is good enough, better to divide funds so that you can enjoy more games and you can manage when you need more money to inject. 4th point should be given more priorities. Gamblers must monitor and focus on their winning and losing graph. It helps them to understand what's going on in their gambling life and they they could change their strategy if need and change their gambling habits.

The issue of setting a budget from your timely salary or other incomes depends on what you earn and how often you play gambling. Making it a habit of allocating certain percentage on a regular basis speaks volumes of addiction. I will have to agree with your last point because having knowledge and able to compare the margins between your wins and loses give you insight and probably change your pattern of gambling.
