Well, with D3 first batch still awaiting to be shipped, my Ibelink DM11g performance in real world is rather unpleasant.

The calculator is off by 40%.

POOL
stratum+tcp://dash80.suprnova.cc:443

Run for 24 hours

Earnings   Audit (SUM(Debits) + TXFee + Donation + Balance)
0.22311787

Average Hashrate = 8,500MH/s

Average Earning per hour = 0.00929
Difficulty: 995,480.12
Pool Hashrate: 1,746,797.90 MH/s

We'd love to see a comparison for a different pool!

I know this is super unlikely, but I hope Bitmain surprises everyone and ships the September D3s early.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 27, 2017, 03:43:36 AM
I see. I was just curious because on the Bitmain website under the L3+ specifications it literally says "800W +10%", which wouldn't leave nearly enough room to run two of them off a single 1800w PSU.

Check out this video. It shows the actual power usage for an L3+ with 220v as well as 110v.

Is that a normal p4400 kill a watt?  I looked it up and it said the max operating voltage was 125v, while you ran 240v through it.  Is there another higher voltage model to look for?  Or does it work anyway?

Also, what's the surge protector situation like?  Do the bitmain PSUs handle that?  If not, are there any miner preferred models/brands for handling all that wattage from multiple asics?

Thanks in advance Smiley

Yeah, it's a normal P4400 and it "just works". I didn't even realize it wasn't rated for 220v until someone else mentioned that on the YouTube comments  Cheesy. Seems to work well though. I would expect the PSU to handle small surges, but large surges are definitely a risk. On a related note, these miners seem to handle brown-outs quite well.

In the description of the APW3++ it says it only comes with 9 connectors, but in your video it clearly comes with 10. If it only came with 9, it wouldn't be able to power up two, so I guess it's a typo on their website?

It's a little confusing, but there are two versions of the APW3++. One of them has 5 pairs of connectors (10 total) and the other has 9 pairs of connectors (18 total). I believe you're looking at the one that has 9 pairs, which can run two L3+ from a single PSU when using 220v.

Dash hitting $380 is certainly helping profitability estimates! (if measured in USD)
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 25, 2017, 07:18:35 PM

Do you have any experience running two L3+'s off a single 1800w PSU? Each L3+ consumes 800w +10%, so do you have to underclock them to get two to run off a single 1800w PSU? Can you even still underclock/overclock them? I read somewhere that their firmware doesn't allow for it anymore, but I remember mining years ago with Antminers and I could underclock/overclock them as I wished.

You can still over clock the L3+ and under clocking is also possible.

In real life the miner takes around 800W with the APW3+ model. So just the miner runs probably a little less than that.

1800 should be more than enough to run 2 l3+.  If you overclock them on 600 MH+ you should definitely run them on 2 PSU

Definitely looks like a good PSU option if you have 220v power. Doesn't work over 110v though. "INPUT:180V--264V"
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Rig, D3, L3+, or S9s where would you invest and why? on: August 25, 2017, 05:49:45 PM
I'm not a GPU rig expert, but I can speak to the AntMiner comparison. Assuming you were to purchase from Bitmain's next available batches, I would go in this order:

AntMiner L3+
AntMiner D3
AntMiner S9

While everyone is drooling over the D3 right now, the rewards are far too difficult to predict this far in advance. The next available batch will likely be for December - which is an eternity from now in crypto-time. The L3+ on the other hand has proven to be a much more reliable and steady earner - especially if you're mining lesser known alt-coins using an automatic profit switching pool. The difficulty spike has already occurred and the profits are much easier to predict. The AntMiner S9 is only a good option if Bitcoin remains high, but it still isn't nearly as profitable as the L3+.

btw, dash diff increased from 1.7M to 2.3M in just one day...

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-difficulty.html#3m

by November, I'll be extremely surprised if it isnt in the 5-6 mil range.

it'll be +18 mil with the d3s.

It will spread out somewhat with the other x11 algos. Helium coming online about that time is a good thing too, another x11 coin that already has media attention. It will get rough for a while though, Bitmain will keep making D3 until demand drops, demand won't drop until profitability falls off. The price will adjust to make mining profitable again but there will be a tough time. Markets left alone move like a slinky, only those who are patient during the bad times reach the good times.

Well said. Helium looks promising too. Might have to point a D3 at that for a while and setup a few masternodes.

HW stands for the hardware error. But your HW number is so small that it is nothing to worry about and it does not affect the hash rate.

Agreed - this is nothing to be concerned about. Having any hashing boards showing 0 HW errors is pretty rare.

Is there any newbie guide on setting this up (D3 is coming in late September) on how to join pools, what to mine, etc? Really appreciate this.

An earlier post showed a litecoin miner being set up. It should be the same.

Agreed - Bitmain has kept the setup nearly the same for every model they've released. There is no reason to believe the D3 will be any different.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: August 25, 2017, 04:15:22 AM
what is the bandwidth i need to get for running 100 L3+?
upload / download?

It's surprisingly low. 1Mbps should be enough, but I'd shoot for at least 10mbps to be safe. Each miner uses 3-5kbps in bursts.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 24, 2017, 09:05:38 PM
I've already bought mine shipping September 18-25. I need to know how long it takes to arrive from China so I can be home to receive it.

Shipping time mainly depends on your location, probably not more than 3 days. But you will get a tracking number and the ETA by e.mail after Bitmain shipped anyways.

Our orders average 5 business days via UPS from the date the shipping label is created until it's delivered to our location in Michigan.

I have these NEMA 10-30 wall sockets, but I cannot find any adaptor from C13 to NEMA 10-30.

Use a PDU like the person above you suggested even if you have one asic miner now assume in time you will have more and the PDU will be well used. After my office is converted into a mining operation I'll do a guide and walk through to help new people.

The cheapest I found is this:

https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-PDU30BHVT8R-8-Outlets-L6-30P-Distribution/dp/B003KBIEGS/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503470158&sr=1-7&keywords=Power+Distribution+Unit+30A

Would this work?

I have 30 A breakers so I assume I could plug 4 D3s to one of these?

If it's 240 volts then yes. I think those are 240 volts in the US as well to run appliances.

Wait - that looks like the CyberPower PDU I linked you earlier, which has Nema L6-30 plugs. I don't think that will fit into a Nema 10-30 socket. To use that PDU, you will need an adapter like this one or like this one.

I've also posted this in L3+ board.

Do any of you guys use 220/240 V power in US with APW3++? What kind of plug and outlet are you using?

Yes, I use C13 to C14 power cables to connect the APW3++ to my CyberPower PDUs. The PDUs connect to my Nema L6-30r receptacles on the wall.

I'm convinced the people here "worrying" about difficulty levels rising and "suggesting" people do anything OTHER than order a D3 are just fudding and in reality want all the D3's for themselves. Right now, these units have a 9 day ROI. even if earnings drop 4x you're still looking at ROI under 1 single month. Yes customs and bitmain website and order process are huge pains in the ass, but if you can get through it you're gonna do very well. don't listen to the people crowing about difficulty. When difficulty goes up, generally the value of the underlying coin goes up - JUST LIKE DASH IS EXPERIENCING RIGHT NOW. even though difficulty goes up, profitability does not proportionally decline.

anyway i got 14.

by the way, if you're serious about mining, you need to check out the gigawatt white paper and the WTT token.

I'd say that yes, generally diff increase and price increase go hand in hand.  But if you look at Dash value chart next to Dash diff chart... that does not appear to be the case here, the ratios are not the same, they're very different.  I think anyone expecting Dash to go up 5x-10x in value  just because diff went up 5x-10x over the next few months is going to be in for a nasty surprise.  It'll go up, but not as much as diff.

May 24, 2017
Dash Difficulty = 154k
Dash Value (USD) = $142

Aug 22, 2017
Dash Difficult = 1128k (730% of May 24 level)
Dash Value (USD) = $290 (204% of May 24 price)

Value does not go up as fast as difficulty.

Maybe you get more Dash when diff goes up per mined block?  I don't know.  But if the block reward stays consistent, and the gains have to be made by appreciation, what I'm seeing says Dash value will not go up anywhere near as much as Dash diff.

I wish everyone the best of luck with their D3's and similar next-gen Dash miners... but I think it's not going to be as amazing as people think.  Better be ready to hold that Dash a while.

Correlation does not imply causation. In this case, you're reversing the causation. Difficulty chases profitability (price), not the other way around. Whenever I hear someone say they think the price will go up because the difficulty is going up, it makes me wonder if they also believe that windmills create wind. After all, the faster windmills spin, the faster the wind seems to get.  Wink

It seems more likely that the recent price increase is linked to the 40,000+ people who didn't know much about Dash and started researching while contemplating a D3 purchase - only to realize that there's quite a bit of potential for this coin. I know that happened to me and I purchased some Dash in response. There are tens of thousands of people who probably never heard of Dash that suddenly saw a new product from Bitmain and started looking into it.

i get what you're saying, but using your analogy - if it became much more expensive/difficult for the windmills to create wind energy, then it seems natural that the wind energy would then become more expensive. If it's more expensive to produce a product, then it seems the product would become more expensive to purchase. whatcha think?

That would make sense if Dash were a consumable resource, but it's a currency that doesn't disappear when used. This means that the "supply" for Dash isn't just newly minted coins, but every coin available for purchase on all exchanges. If one could magically increase the difficulty to the point in which nobody could mine any Dash, it wouldn't cause the Dash price to increase. People who want Dash can still get Dash from the existing supply. Lots of coins start as mine-able and transition to PoS, which is the equivalent of what I just described. They don't become more valuable simply because the mining has stopped. People tend to over-estimate the effect that newly minted coins have on the underlying price. Newly minted coins make such a tiny percentage of the daily volume traded that even if every miner in the world was selling and never holding, the affect would be negligible. It's even less meaningful with Dash, since only 45% of newly minted coins come from miners.

ok i get what you're saying. I DO think, however, that if DASH was suddenly un-mineable, it WOULD cause the price to increase (somewhat), even if only 45% of newly minted coins comes from miners and there's an existing supply. That sounds like basic economics to me, but i could be wrong and crypto is a crazy crazy world.

be honest cryptocrane - how many D3's did you order? Cheesy

I really hope you're right and I'm wrong - I'd love the increased difficulty to increase the price! As to how many D3s I have ordered, I'd prefer not to disclose that publicly Wink
