5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Mistakes?? on: March 02, 2024, 09:35:31 AM
Being new to the world of digital finance,  I think a great way to start and excel is by gathering information from the experienced here, on the biggest mistakes you have made, and things to do and avoid. I really think that'd be a big plus for an upcoming investor like myself.
One of my mistakes is to believe that there was no difference between Bitcoin and altcoins. Some folks invited me and my friends to a so-called Bitcoin seminar. We were brainwashed that there is no difference between Bitcoin and others so we were deceived to buy a worthless shitcoin. The lesson is that don't be deceived, Bitcoin has no duplicate or substitute.

I have a friend who downloaded an online wallet and forgot to write down and keep the seed phrase safe. He lost his phone and eventually lost the funds he put in his wallet. Ensure your seed phrase is written down, laminated, and kept in a safe place.

There will always be negative news about Bitcoin which can lead to FUD. I want to advise you to seek information from verified sources and also follow your investment plan. Don't be scared by the negative news in the media because they are just distractions.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Some people acts stranded and in need of the ways for breakthrough but not ready on: March 02, 2024, 09:07:17 AM
I simply asked him if he can engage in an investment platform that he may stay couple of times without profits? He said how long? And I said I don't know, the system would decide then he asked me to give him a range of time then I said maybe around 6months ahead.
He said no way he can', then i paused and deep inside of me, I was happy that I haven't exposed my source of income to him yet which I intended to introduce him in.
I don't know if you have another Investment platform you want to introduce your friend to. This is because Bitcointalk shouldn't be seen as an investment platform or a major source of income. One could earn money through signature campaigns but these incomes are not certain or consistent which is why we should have other stable sources of income. Introducing the forum to people by telling them about earnings in signature campaigns I not a good strategy. You should showcase the forum as a learning platform first before any other thing

People are more interested in getting rich quickly and don't want to make any form of input to achieve their goals. They just want to sit down doing nothing while money flows into their account or wallets. They are not willing to learn a skill or study about an innovation, but they just want to start earning.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I was able to donate Books to school pupils with my little Campaign Bitcoin on: March 02, 2024, 08:26:42 AM
Good work OP. I am more interested in the books and other items you gave to these children. From the picture it is clear that they are from poor households that might not afford those gifts you gave to them. I doubt if any of them will be able to learn much about Bitcoin because these children are bothered with other basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. However, just knowing that Bitcoin is a currency is enough, some of them might take an interest in the currency in the future.

This is obviously another attempt to fish merit.
These photos are all edited that's why you ensured there was no background. Plus if you look closely you will notice that the images on the books the kids are holding is totally different from the Bitcoin ones you said you customized. Plus those don't look like kids in a school setting ( they are on flip flops and not on socks ) what school accepts that?
I looked closely at the pictures in the books and didn't think that the customized books were different from the ones the children were holding. So you need to show more proof to authenticate your observation.

Your view that those kids are not in school showed that you have little or no knowledge of the happenings in most developing nations. These children are even well-dressed because in some schools most of them can't afford bathroom slippers. I can verify that this is a typical school setting in the rural area of Africa.

Regarding merit fishing, your view is also subjective because you can only guess his objective. Maybe he has other reasons for posting this selflessness on the forum. Maybe he wants to showcase how he is spreading Bitcoin education through giving and this can also spur other members to engage in the good work. Giving merit I not by force, if you suspect that a post is for merit fishing, don't give any.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: March 02, 2024, 07:49:14 AM
unexpectedly and I'm sure there are a lot of bettors who lost in this match because yesterday I read that a lot of people would bet on PSG winning and also bet on the total score over but it turned out to be very surprising for both teams without wanting to split the score and chose a draw with a score of 0-0 .
previously I had thought that this match could end in a draw because Monaco is one of the popular teams and has often faced PSG so that any weaknesses that PSG has can be faced Monaco and on the one hand competing at home gives Monaco players the confidence to withstand PSG attack was even, Mbappe even had difficulty breaking into Monaco goal, even though he had put up resistance but still failed.
Although in football we are to expect anything many bettors never expected that Monaco would be able to get a draw for the game. As usual, PSG dominated the game but getting a goal was their main problem. The host team also got their quota of opportunities but they also failed to maximize them. Monaco is coming up strong recently and from all indications, they might have a better season compared to the last one when they ended in 6th position. Brest still maintains their 2nd position even when Monaco has played one more game but Monaco can still fight for the second position.

Monaco used to be a regular team in the UEFA Champions League in the past but they have not been able to make it to the competition in recent times. The gap between PSG and other clubs is still wide, so it is almost certain that they will win the League. PSG is gradually experimenting with how to play without their talisman Kylian Mbappé.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: March 01, 2024, 06:36:00 PM
Reading the principles of Nayib Bukele always gives me positive energy. From his quote which says 1 BTC = 1 BTC, we who always support Bitcoin want every country to have a leader like him with advanced thinking who can make the economy develop amidst the loss of value of fiat currency.
A president that was not sacred of the negative prediction and that of international lending organizations like World Bank and IMF deserves to be respected. He predicted that investing in Bitcoin would be good for his nation and regardless of the attacks and criticism, he fearlessly pursued the Bitcoin project.

Half of the total ownership will probably be released or sold when the price reaches $100k or more in my opinion and he will think of a new strategy again even though my thinking is not necessarily justified.
According to his Twitter post, the country has no plan to sell. My view is that he might not be selling in this bull run because they have a long-term vision for Bitcoin. They country is still acquiring more through its citizenship programs. The president is a die-hard supporter of Bitcoin and I am happy he won the last presidential election, at least he would still be in power till the next bull run.

11  Economy / Economics / Re: What is The Negative Effect of Inflation on Household Savings? on: March 01, 2024, 02:05:00 PM
Inflation significantly impacts household saving and buying power. With inflation comes the devaluation of money. Inflation has an inverse relation with savings; the higher the inflation, the lower will be the saving and vice versa. People living in high-inflation areas/ countries do not invest for the future. The same is true for stock investment in the future.
To beat inflation, one of the few options is to invest your money into stocks using a passive indexing approach. Buying Gold, Silver, or other precious metals might help a person overcome inflation.

You can consult these research papers for further understanding of the topic.

I am living in a country that is suffering from double-digit inflation. The price of goods and services has skyrocketed and our local currency has lost almost 89%/ of its purchasing power. Many people are migrating to the Western world because of economic hardship. I will not invest in the bonds of a government that cannot manage the economy, I prefer investing in Bitcoin. Bitcoin has proved to be a sound hedge against inflation, therefore recommending it is not a bad idea. People will always use the volatility of Bitcoin as an excuse for not including it as a means of shielding money from inflation but some country's currencies are even more unstable.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does having children have an influence on gambling habits? on: March 01, 2024, 01:02:08 PM
When you have one or more children, you have heavy responsibilities. Sometimes you're on a tight budget. Can being a parent change our playing habits? Are losses even harder to bear when you're in charge of a family? What are your experiences in this area?
Getting married and having children changes the financial condition of a man. If you still earn the same as when you are single,  you might have to readjust your gambling budget. You will have to prioritize your children expenses than gambling. And when you have a tight budget,  gambling will have to be dropped or reduced because the family must survive. Any gambler that uses money for family upkeep for gambling is irresponsible.

I am not a parent but I lived on this planet long enough to witness people who have a family and gambling problems. losing money you cannot afford to lose can be debilitating to your family's financial security. so yeah, if you have a family and you are on a tight budget, your gambling habits SHOULD change, your kids and your family's well-being is your priority, and gambling can wait.
This is one of the major causes of divorce in my area. Young families are having issues because the father believes that gambling is an alternative source of income. It will be better if they seek a high-paying job or other sources of income if they want to continue with their gambling budget.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: March 01, 2024, 12:36:35 PM
I am waiting for official news from El Salvador regarding the economic improvement and development of the country due to Bitcoin. I am waiting for news of the successful adoption of Bitcoin by El Salvador. This is because the current price of bitcoin seems to have passed the time when El Salvador bought Bitcoin. Furthermore, it can give an idea and attract the interest of other countries to imitate. If El Salvador can improve the country's economy with Bitcoin, I think they don't need the IMF. They have taken that risk, so they have to work hard with their commitment to Bitcoin.
The president of El Salvador has already made an official statement concerning the country's investment in Bitcoin. You can check it out in his X account and the post have gotten about 3.9milloin views. He indicated that the investment has yielded about 40% profit and the nation has no plan to sell. He also stated that the country's main source of acquiring more Bitcoin is through its citizenship program. He also lashed critics who were writing all sorts of rubbish about El Salvador but are now silent when the country is making huge profits.

Countries that want to take the same step as El Salvador have to study the steps of the Latin American country and also ensure that they invest in infrastructure and Bitcoin education.

What is your opinion about Napoli? It seems like they have fallen off a lot. I believe that should have performed far better compared to what they have done. Even if we look at just the last 5 matches from them, we will see that they have not done well at all. they only have one win In the last 5 matches.  that is not good at all from the team which is the defending champion of the title. I also believe that it is just a matter of time before Osimhen leaves the team. Because I don't think that he is going to be the player that he wants to be if he stays in the Napoli team. Still not certain about which club is actually going to get him.  but in my opinion he is leaving for sure.  unless somehow  Napoli manages to actually Defend the title successfully,  which seems to be almost impossible at this moment.
Napoli has lost the quality it had last season and it will be difficult for them to regain that form. Winning a game in five matches doesn't show the right will to compete for the Seria A title. One of the reasons for this poor run was the absence of Victor Osimhen due to his engagement in the African Nations Cup.

He is back and they have started having positive results. In the last three games, there has been some improvement. They played a draw with Barcelona in the UCL second round, would have won the game with Cagliari if not for the late equalizer, and got a convincing win yesterday against Sassuolo. The return of the Nigerian striker has added more quality to the team and it has also been seen that the partnership between him and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been rekindled.

It will be difficult for Napoli to defend the scudetto, they might just get a European competition qualification. Except Napoli can make it to the Champions League next season or win the UCL, I doubt if Victor will be able to remain in the club. He might also be attracted if they give him a very lucrative contract. However, the club is preparing to make money from the sale of the striker next season and the striker wants to leave to face new challenges elsewhere, maybe the EPL.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prospects on: February 29, 2024, 05:17:30 PM
What are the limits of Bitcoin’s rise... and is it a strong and consistent rise... and what are the most prominent implications of this rise and its most prominent results?
There is no limit to the rise of Bitcoin. The market is unpredictable especially because of the approval of Spot ETF.  The demand for Bitcoin is high and this has kept pushing up the price. We have never seen this type of market in time past, so you might not get a straight answer. The halving is around the corner and the price of Bitcoin might keep rising time the beginning of next year but there might also be a slight fall in price. I think Bitcoin will get to $100k before the end of the bull run and my target for profit-taking is within this price.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How your feels? on: February 29, 2024, 02:13:59 PM
I want to know how it feels among those of you who gamble using altcoins or bitcoins, basically the crypto you are using today has increased significantly, we know that in 2022-2023 coins that are small are not so valuable, and how does it feel today? Is there a little regret or do you not care because the money you lose in gambling is a necessity for you, so you don't care about the crypto you have lost in gambling for the past two years?
I don't like regretting my past because I can do nothing to change it but using cryptocurrencies to gamble is more expensive. The money I lost these few weeks would have appreciated if I kept them and didn't use them for gambling. However, evaluating how much I have lost these years would be incomplete without adding how much I have also won. These years I have lost and also won a good amount of money, so I have no regrets. Since I use an insignificant part of my income to gamble it is also possible that I might have also spent the money on other forms of entertainment, so I have not regret. I have plans for my savings, Investment, and gambling, therefore what I have spent on gambling is what has been budgeted, so no regret.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Murphy backing gold standard bill on: February 29, 2024, 01:25:43 PM
If they get this instituted nationwide, you wouldnt need bitcoin. Not really...
Bitcoin has more benefits than just being a means of payment. Many people use Bitcoin because it promotes privacy. They want to live private lives void of government surveillance and control. So there will be always a demand for Bitcoin due to its decentralized nature.

binance is not government run. and binance is not a depository. i haven't heard of the government missing social security or food stamp payments. so they could run a depository. that's what that guy is trying to get the kansas state government to do.
The government might be more reliable than exchanges but I don't also trust the government. It is better to keep my money and use it the ways I want them to put it in the hands fo the government. The government can decide to freeze your funds by giving different unreasonable reasons.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Funds are SAFU": Here we go again, but with Coinbase! on: February 29, 2024, 12:01:51 PM
It no sense, because a software wallet like Electrum isn't something you lave to take lessons on how to use like it's a university course, it is literally just a software program like Google Chrome, VLC, and Adobe Reader.

Do you take lessons or tutorials to use any of those? Of course not. That is because they are intuitive to use. The same goes with wallet software. Except for full nodes but those are not included in this discussion.

There are even convenient non-custodial mobile wallets such as Trust Wallet, and Coinbase Wallet (LOL) which you can access by opening an app. There is literally no excuse for normal people to go to an exchange website and sign in in order to access your coins.
These wallets are very easy to use even for a semi-illiterate. You will be surprised to know that most people don't even know that wallets exist. They assume that exchanges are the only means of keeping and trading cryptocurrencies. Some of them joined the crypto space because they want to make quick money so they are now concerned about learning anything about the sector.

Money in exchanges is relatively safe; if they were as unsafe as people here portray them to be, no one would use them. In the meantime, billions of dollars worth of volume are transacted on Binance every day. I'm not recommending storing in exchanges, but sometimes it's necessary because people are actively using their funds.
This was how people felt that exchanges like FTX were solid and safe until the unexpected happened. Using exchange from trading is not wrong but keeping large sums in them is not safe.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: February 28, 2024, 08:22:10 PM
You value life and anyone who value life are not moves by money or any materialistic things. But the guy is definitely dealing with other fears and depression which he must haven't share with anyone and then end it all when he loss everything. I even read somewhere he borrowed an additional money to his own to bet, didn't know what he was trying to achieve but it's better for him to use the money to buy food and eat, sleep and get querry by the lender of the money than do gambling and ended it all.
He is also battling with the shame of what people would say concerning the money he borrowed for gambling. Some people are not bold enough to face life situations which makes them think about suicide each time they face a challenging situation. He contributed to his problem if he indeed borrowed money to gamble. His gambling addiction was aggressive which made him lose his sense of reasoning. I also feel sorry for the creditor because he has also lost the money he graciously lent to the deceased.

Those days when you only see middle age people worry of depression but Depression today is a real problem among the youths and adolescent people who are supposed to be facing higer education, skills, and other things that will be beneficial but they would rather watch Drake that has struggled his life to get where he is today but they want to be like him when they don't even have the means, this is where gambling comes from some people.
Social media has contributed a lot to the problems most youths are having. The youths are now closer to their funds and online peers than their parents. Some of them prefer to take advice from social media instead of seeking counsel from parents and other experienced adults. They are also influenced by celebrities or brand ambassadors that they meet on social media.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Weekly Net Outflow of Bitcoin from Exchanges Has Been Increasing on: February 28, 2024, 08:08:48 PM
According to IntoTheBlock data, since the launch of the spot Bitcoin ETF in January, the weekly net outflow of Bitcoin from exchanges has been consistently increasing. This week, the net outflow reached $540 million, marking the highest amount since June 2023.

This reflects a belief in Bitcoin's potential as a store of value and a hedge against inflation. Long-term holders and institutional investors, in particular, may be taking a more strategic approach to their Bitcoin holdings, viewing them as a strategic asset allocation rather than a short-term speculative investment.

All we can do is just speculate about reason for the movement of these funds out of exchanges. It could be that the exchanges are changing wallets or people are withdrawing them and putting them in in custodial wallets. It could also be that people now prefer to invest in the ETF more than keeping funds in centralized exchanges.

Any point of view I don't see any relationship between Bitcoin and inflation. Bitcoin has a store value, and everyone stores or trades it to gain significant profits. It's true that many institutional investors are entering the Bitcoin market, and the market is pumping too. But I don't think this could reduce inflation anyway. Governments control the economy, and they are responsible for inflation.
Bitcoin might not reduce a country's inflation but it can help shield people's money from losing value during inflation. Bitcoin can be used as a hedge against inflation mostly in countries that are going through currency devaluation or loss of value. Instead of keeping funds in local currencies which is losing value, some people prefer to keep their money in Bitcoin to protect their funds from losing value. Such a person will end up making a profit from the increase in the price of Bitcoin and save their money from losing value. An example is Nigeria where even with the restrictions placed on Bitcoin, Nigerians were still embracing it because it was the best to curb individual or household inflation.
