Hello DS.

How much collateral do I need for a 0.3 btc loan until January 18/19'th ?
In ETH

Thanks Smiley

Edit: doesn't matter, don't have enough, and don't have the merit for no collateral Smiley

Maybe I just will sell everything to BTC and be done with it, still not sure yet.
It makes much more sense to keep the 0.15 BTC instead of paying it in interest, and exchange your altcoins for Bitcoin directly. If you really want to speculate on altcoins again, see these depressing graphs first Smiley

Yeah. I'm just going to exchange everything into bitcoin in the end.
Better to be informed before making any kind of decision.
Thanks for the graph, will look to over it, and I'll decide if I ever want to speculate on altcoins again.

Thanks to every one who responded to my post, got some info out of it. I'm locking it now.

The loan I'm thinking of is for 2 months, and I will be able to pay back at least 0.75 btc.
And I was thinking of exchanging everything I have into ethereum or litecoin, so that's good.
Be careful getting this loan with any user. Someone could pretend to be willing to give you the loan just to run away with your 110% collateral (i.e 0.66 BTC worth of ETH) right away. Tongue

And btw, since you're already thinking about liquidating your altcoins, why not just sell everything to BTC (which is what you need)? Why the loan?

I'll be careful.

My thinking is that I'm probably never going to buy any altcoin again and maybe I'll need it some time latter. Maybe for another loan or some quick cash.
So I'm thinking I have the possibility to repay a loan now, but maybe at a latter time, maybe next year or in any undefined period of time, I won't.
Maybe I just will sell everything to BTC and be done with it, still not sure yet.

Anyway, thanks for the advice Smiley

it also depends on how long you want to have this loan and what percentage of payment you want provide (lending terms).

in general I would tell you to check coinmarketcap.
I would certainly accept the first 10 coin in this list, excluding tether/USDC/dogecoin, with the greatest focus on ethereum or litecoin/monero (even if it is not in top 10).

The loan I'm thinking of is for 2 months, and I will be able to pay back at least 0.75 btc.
And I was thinking of exchanging everything I have into ethereum or litecoin, so that's good.

Ok. That's helpful.
I might need to rethink the amount on the loan and see where I can get the rest.
Thanks Smiley

So this is more of a general question, not necessarily a loan request.
Yes ,I do need a loan of about 0.6 btc, but before I make any request I want to know a few things.
I have collateral, but it is scattered in more than 1 altcoin wallets, I'm considering exchanging them for a single type of altcoin.
Also, as per my old request that I locked, I have a wallet with btc in it, it has been consolidated, but most of it was spent to solve my original issue and make some investments. Currently it has only 0.00070782 left in it.
So my question here is, what kind of altcoin is acceptable as a collateral?
And also, if the collateral is approximately 110% of the loan amount, is that good enough?

Again, I'm mostly looking for answers, not necessarily the loan, that can wait, it's not that urgent.

Thanks for any clarifications  Smiley

Salut. Bogdan aici.
13  Economy / Lending / Re: BTC Loan on: December 08, 2022, 12:50:14 PM
What I can offer as collateral is a wallet that has 2.1 btc in it.
I could extract the amount needed from it, but the wallet has a ton of small inputs to form that sum, and in order to not get a too large transaction error I need to make a ton of small transactions to get there and it takes a huge amount of time.
I need the amount faster than that for a urgent matter.
If someone can tell me how I can set up 500 transaction of 0.001 in one so I don't get the error, and I don't have to do it 500 times in transaction manually, I'd be happy not to ask for anything Cheesy
I'm using bitcoin-core and the wallet dat file loaded.
I did manage to make a 0.00175 transfer with no error, but that takes me like a million years to get to the sum I need.
First: I wrote a topic on How to Consolidate your small inputs years ago. Read it Smiley
You're not the first, although having that many small inputs is uncommon (but not impossible). What did you do: collect faucets for years?
Anyway, in Bitcoin Core it's fairly easy to handle. First, enable Coin Control: Settings > Options > Wallet > Enable coin control features. Then, go to Send > Inputs and manually select a bunch of inputs. You can sort them on size and start with the largest ones. Select for instance 100 at a time, set the lowest fee (1 sat/byte), and send the entire amount to a new address that you own. Keep doing this until you have no more small amounts in your wallet.
If you're desperate enough, I can do it for you (at a price). But it shouldn't be too difficult to do this on your own.

Don't do this! Bitcoin Core is fine, no need to switch to Electrum.

Yo. This was extremely helpful.
It's working, kind of slow, but I'm consolidating the smaller inputs.
And to answer your question about what I did.
Essentially yes. I wrote some screen capturing software to look at some faucets and click the button once every whatever time the faucet had.
Started it in 2015. It worked and didn't , might have had more by now if the software was any better.
I'm a software engineer, not really familiar with everything crypto.
Thanks again for your help Smiley

I leave you these two links to read up on the subject, so you are able to understand how it works.
I think it's quite easy as a process and certainly does not require a loan or use a wallet as collateral Roll Eyes .

https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.16.0/rpc/wallet/dumpprivkey/
https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/

generally speaking providing a btc private key as a collateral it's kind of silly proposal as you can easily understand ... Wink

Ok.
Thanks.
I didn't want to annoy anyone, I'm just a bit desperate to solve my problem.
15  Economy / Lending / Re: BTC Loan on: December 08, 2022, 09:25:37 AM
Moreover why you don't send by yourself all these "small inputs" in one transaction and unlock this amount?
Add a decent size fee and you have your amount in 10-30 minutes.
obviously you don't have a transaction error Grin that's a really lame/silly excuse.

If someone can tell me how I can set up 500 transaction of 0.001 in one so I don't get the error, and I don't have to do it 500 times in transaction manually, I'd be happy not to ask for anything Cheesy

you can just made your transaction with 100 input and problem solved Roll Eyes
what wallet are you using? if you load your private key in electrum it will be managed automatically.

Ok. Never used electrum.
I'm using bitcoin-core and the wallet dat file loaded.

Hello,

I need a loan of 0.5 btc that I can repay in 2 months with whatever interest is asked.

What I can offer as collateral is a wallet that has 2.1 btc in it.
I could extract the amount needed from it, but the wallet has a ton of small inputs to form that sum, and in order to not get a too large transaction error I need to make a ton of small transactions to get there and it takes a huge amount of time.

I'm not 100% sure if this is acceptable to anyone here.
I hope it is.
