5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: December 12, 2025, 01:15:41 PM
Lens seems to be doing well; the season is long, and even if PSG seems out of form, they can suddenly recover and overtake them. The one-point difference is nothing anyway.

However, it's clear Lens is extra motivated this year, and if they avoid mistakes in a few more matches, things could get really interesting.
PSG picked up 33 points after playing 15 matches in the league, and you called that a lack of form? I don't think so. Last season, they picked up 39 points after 15 matches. That's a difference of 6 points, which is not much if you ask me. They're second at the moment because Lens is having a great season, not because they are out of form, and also I think Lens will slip off very soon.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 12, 2025, 12:24:06 PM
I rarely watch the serie a, but from time to time, I do check matchday results and league standings, and whenever I do, my focus is mainly on the top clubs and their positions. Recently, I checked the table as usual, but this time around, I decided to scroll down, and I discovered that Florentina is at the bottom position with zero wins in 14 matches. What is really happening to the club?

8  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Do Kwon arrested on: December 12, 2025, 04:41:04 AM
I didn't see this coming, and I guess most persons didn't either. The prosecutors recommended 12 years, while the defense counsel requested Do Kwon gets 5 years, but the judge went for something higher after carefully reviewing the case. According to him, he said it was a “fraud on an epic, generational scale.” Grin

A big win to all those affected. They might not have gotten their funds back, but they can find comfort knowing that justice is served.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2026 on: December 11, 2025, 06:53:57 PM
I think Manchester United are currently a little better, especially when we compare their performance to last season, now they are only one point away from the Champions League zone. The match against Bournemouth, in my opinion should be relatively easy for Ruben Amorim squad, besides playing at home, Manchester United are indeed the favorite in many aspects.
The opportunity to break into the top four of the league table is wide open if Manchester United manage to secure the full points, because Crystal Palace and Chelsea might drop points in their next matches, considering the opponents they will face.
United might be the favourite on paper, but that does not mean they will win. Their performance has been filled with inconsistencies. Yeah, they've improved a little bit compared to last season, but they're still far from their best. They might have thrashed Wolves recently, but we've also seen them throw points away against smaller teams. So tbh, I don't know what to expect against Bournemouth, I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I might start advising against running crypto wallets on android devices soon on: December 11, 2025, 05:32:43 PM
OP is there a link about this news? I would like to read the article, because this crypto wallet vulnerability on android phones is very worrying.
Here you go.

https://www.phonearena.com/news/two-serious-vulnerabilities-make-the-latest-android-security-update-one-you-cant-ignore_id176416

Op can still share his source as well.

It is worth noting that the severity of the attack that can be carried out through these vulnerabilities is not limited to crypto wallets. A hacker can do more harm than one can imagine. That's why the United States Cybersecurity Agency is on red alert following the update from Google about these security updates.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pass all the security procedures before sending assets to an exchange. on: December 11, 2025, 11:59:24 AM
This is no big deal. Even after depositing funds on the exchange, you can still add security. It does not take time to do this, and the good thing is that most exchanges require just 1 or 2 of the three verification methods (email/mobile no, 2FA authentication, and passkey) to initiate a withdrawal. So if, for whatever reason, you can't set up one, you still have two more to try.  The chance of having your fund stuck in the exchange is very slim.

What kind of risk control review would the exchange carry out before letting you trade with a merchant? It does not make sense to me at all. The whole thing looks like a publicity stunt to make the exchange appear well fortified and also scare scammers away from the platform.

14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: December 10, 2025, 03:55:46 PM
Even though there are pros and cons regarding Madrid's performance, I think it would be a shame if Madrid quickly fired Xabi. If we look at the La Liga standings or the Champions League, the results shouldn't be too disappointing. Perhaps a better option would be to wait and see Madrid's results, whether they advance to the next round in the Champions League, or how far they will go in the Champions League. But we don't know what goals the Madrid owners want. What is certain is that the pressure on Xabi will continue to grow.
Some clubs would give the manager enough time to put their shit together, but sadly not Real Madrid. The club has high standards, and I think Alonso knew it when he took the job. Even in the Champions League, the result is not bad. Real Madrid has played 5 matches, won 4, and lost 1 and is still in a good position to make it to the next round. Where the problem is, is in the domestic league. Currently behind Barca by 4 points. But even at that, I don't think it's enough reason to give Alonso such an ultimatum, and I will be disappointed if Real sacks him.

Secondly, from the reference you gave (https://eu.docworkspace.com/d/sIKO53pDAArvDjMUG?sa=601.1074 - [PDF]
), it is obvious our government has gone to copy the tax system of some European countries where things are working forgetting that a lot of Nigerians are living below poverty line.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I entered a wrong link.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: December 10, 2025, 03:06:14 PM

Xabi Alonso vs Pep Guardiola is going to face each other in the Champions League today. I am really looking forward to seeing the great fight between these two managers. Today's match is definitely going to be manager vs manager, because both of them have a strong team. The result of the match will depend on the skillful strategy of the managers.

In this match, Pep Guardiola will be ahead in terms of Champions League experience, Xabi Alonso will be ahead in terms of team strength and home field advantage. However, the recent form of Xabi's team is not good at all. Considering all aspects, this match is still uncertain and points to an unexpected result.
It's going to be a fierce game and the one that might decide Alonso's fate. After a series of poor performances from Real Madrid, word on the street is that Perez has given him a one-match ultimatum to turn things around or he will be sacked. So there's pressure on him to win tonight's match.
17  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / NTA 2025: How to calculate personal income tax on: December 10, 2025, 02:11:38 PM
It is now widely known that the new tax law has been approved, and beginning in January 2026, every Nigerian will be obligated to pay tax. The new tax law covers the company income tax, personal income tax, value added tax, etc. However, in this post, I'll be focusing on Personal Income Tax (PIT) and how to calculate it.

What is Personal Income Tax (PIT)?
It is the portion of your earnings you are obligated to remit to the government as tax.

What are the taxable incomes?
The taxable incomes cover most forms of your earnings and they include wages, bonuses, financial gifts, royalties, winnings, etc.

Tax band
The Nigerian Tax Act (NTA) 2025 introduces a set of income brackets that determine the rate at which personal income tax is applied and they are:
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|Band|Income Range (N)|Tax Rate|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|1|2,200,000|15%|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|2|9,000,000|18%|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|3|13,000,000|21%|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|4|25,000,000|23%|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+
|5|50,000,000|25%|
+-------------+---------------------------------+-----------------+

How to calculate taxable incomes?
Under the Nigerian Tax Act (2025), the first ₦800,000 one earns is tax-free. It means if your annual income is ₦800,000 or below, you're not obligated to pay tax.

Lets take a look at some examples:
Musa earned ₦1,500,000 for the year. To calculate Musa's taxable income, deduct ₦800,000 from ₦1,500,000.
That is: ₦1,500,000 - ₦800,000 = ₦700,000 (Remember, the first ₦800,000 income is tax-free)
The next step is to compute the tax due using the applicable rate. Musa didn't make up to the amount (₦2,200,000) in the first tax band, but you will still apply the rate 15% to it. That is:
Musa's taxable income = ₦700,000 x 15% = ₦105,000
Musa is to pay ₦105,000 as PIT to the government.

Jane earned ₦5,000,000 for the year. To calculate her taxable income, deduct ₦800,000 from ₦5,000,000
That is: ₦5,000,000 - ₦800,000 = ₦4,200,000 (The first ₦800,000 income is tax-free)
The next step is to compute the tax due using the applicable rates.
Jane earned up to the amount (₦2,200,000), in the first tax band. Remove it and apply 15%. Whatever amount is remaining in Jane's account, apply the second tax band rate 18% to it. That is:
₦2,200,000 x 15% = ₦330,000
₦2,000,000 x 18% = ₦360,000
Jane's taxable income = ₦330,000 + ₦360,000 = ₦690,000
Jane is to pay ₦690,000 as PIT to the government.

Olumide earned ₦10,000,000 for the year. To calculate his taxable income, deduct ₦800,000 from ₦10,000,000
That is: ₦10,000,000 - ₦800,000 = ₦9,200,000 (The first ₦800,000 income is tax-free)
The next step is to compute the tax due using the applicable rates.
Olumide earned up to the amount (₦2,200,000), in the first tax band, remove it and apply 15 %. Whatever amount is remaining in Olumide's account, apply the second tax band rate 18% to it. That is:
₦2,200,000 x 15% = ₦330,000
₦7,000,000 x 18% = ₦1,260,000
Olumide's taxable income = ₦330,000 + ₦1,260,000 = ₦1,590,000
Olumide is to pay ₦1,590,000 as PIT to the government.

Emeka earned ₦50,000,000 for the year. To calculate his taxable income, deduct ₦800,000 from ₦50,000,000
That is: ₦50,000,000 - ₦800,000 = ₦49,200,000 (The first ₦800,000 income is tax-free)
The next step is to compute the tax due using the applicable rates.
Emeka earned up to the amount (₦2,200,000) in the first band. Remove it and apply 15%. He earned up to the amount (₦9,000,000) in the second tax band. Remove it and apply 18%.  He earned up to the amount (₦13,000,000), in the third tax band. Remove it and apply 21%. He earned up to the amount (₦25,000,000), in the fourth tax band. Remove it and apply at 23%. What is left in Emeka's account is ₦800,000. Remove it and apply 25% rate. That is:
₦2,200,000 x 15% = ₦330,000
₦9,000,000 x 18% = ₦1,620,000
₦13,000,000 x 21% = ₦2,730,000
₦25,000,000 x 23% = ₦5,750,000
₦800,000 x 25% = ₦200,000
Emeka's taxable income will be: ₦330,000 + ₦1,620,000 + ₦2,730,000 + ₦5,750,000 + ₦200,000 = ₦10,630,000
Emeka is to pay ₦10,630,000 as PIT to the government.

Deborah earned ₦200,000,000 for the year. To calculate her taxable income, deduct ₦800,000 from ₦200,000,000
That is: ₦200,000,000 - ₦800,000 = ₦199,200,000 (The first ₦800,000 income is tax-free).
The next step is to compute the tax due using the applicable rates.
It is the same as previous examples.  Remove the amount from the tax bands and apply the rates sequentially until you get to last tax band. Whatever amount is remaining in Deborah's account, apply the rate. That is:
₦2,200,000 x 15% = ₦330,000
₦9,000,000 x 18% = ₦1,620,000
₦13,000,000 x 21% = ₦2,730,000
₦25,000,000 x 23% = ₦5,750,000
₦150,800,000 x 25 = ₦37,700,000
Deborah's taxable will be: ₦330,000 + ₦1,620,000 + ₦2,730,000 + ₦5,750,000 + ₦37,700,000 = ₦48,130,000
Deborah is to pay ₦48,130,000 as PIT to the government.

Please note that under the NTA 2025, tenants are qualified for a rent relief, which is 20% of their rent and it is capped at ₦500,000.

Now, let's take a look at some examples with rent relief:
Example A:
If the rent is ₦500,000 and annual income is N2,000,000, the rent relief will be:
20% x ₦500,000 = ₦100,000.
To calculate the taxable income:
Subtract ₦800,000 (tax-free) and ₦100,000 (rent relief) from the ₦2,000,000 (annual income). Then, use the previous calculations above to calculate the personal income tax.

Example B:
If the rent is ₦1,000,000 and annual income is N4,000,000. The rent relief will be:
20% x ₦1,000,000 = ₦200,000.
To calculate the taxable income:
Subtract ₦800,000 (tax-free) and ₦200,000 (rent relief) from ₦4,000,000 (annual income). Then, use the previous calculation above to calculate the personal income tax.

Example C:
If the rent is ₦5,000,000 and annual income is N10,000,000.
The rent relief will be:
20% x ₦5,000,000 = ₦1,000,000
But under NTA 2025, rent relief is capped at N500,000. So the person can only receive N500,000.
To calculate the taxable income,
Subtract ₦800,000 (tax-free) and ₦500,000 (rent relief) from the ₦10,000,000 (annual income). Then, use the previous calculate above to calculate the personal income tax.

If that is their plan, at least they should have informed him when he's going to play his last game so they can give him the proper send off he deserves. Truth be told, Sallah contributed a lot for this club and he deserves better treatment from the management and the coach. I know Salah is not performing at his highest form currently but this dude has carried this team for years on his shoulder and shouldn't be thrown under the bus just like that.
I remembered when Casemiro was frozen out of the team when Amorim took over, he didn't complain. He allowed the media to do the talking for him. Now, he's back in the team and a very important member, for that matter. Salah wouldn't have voiced out when he got frozen out. He would have endured and hoped things got better or Slot got sacked. Now, the relationship between the both of them has gone sour, and if he leaves this way, it won't look good. I just hope somehow they sort things out or Slot gets sacked, so whoever takes over can reintegrate him back into the team.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Savings in Bitcoin vs Saving Money in a Bank on: December 09, 2025, 12:25:27 PM
Saving in Bitcoin is far better, especially if you live in a third-world country where inflation has ravaged the economy.

Take my country for instance. Two years ago, a bag of 50 kg of rice was N35k. Currently, it's about N70k. Imagine if you kept the money in a bank, which you wanted to use to buy rice. You won't be able to do that right now because the price has increased. However, if you save the same amount in Bitcoin, you would still be able to buy rice, because the value of Bitcoin has increased over time. Hence, it's better to save in Bitcoin than fiat because it's a hedge against inflation.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2026 on: December 09, 2025, 11:23:25 AM
I think the hope for Wolves already gone, they only have 2 points with the worst goal difference, in order to get away from relegation zone they have to win 5 match in a row and score many goals.

Wolves will play in Championship in the next season.
Even if Wolves cannot win five straight matches. If they can get some wins and draws and not lose a game in their next 6-7 matches, it might change their fortune and give them a morale boost. But again, it's very unlikely this will happen. The team's morale is already down. The board sacked Viktor Pereira after picking 2 points in 10 EPL matches and brought in Rod Edward. Yet, there hasn't been any improvement. It will take a miracle for Wolves not to be relegated.
