    1-120: 1 SDC (Fair launch)

 Cry

Fair launch for ASICs. I'm out.

you mean for renting, the new "asic"

Everyone can own, buy or rent any rigs they choose. There is nothing unfair about scrypt algo. What people call "fair" is anything that gets them a lot of coins with almost no cost...how is that fair again?

Nice and cool in my part of the world, I prefer to run scrypt.

most people are not able to think ahead it seems

looking at the whole incident, the chargeback seems the only right thing, but only from and to a certain point in the timeline

what you fail to see is what this might cause in future, what power you gave to a small group and what abusive potential you created. the chargeback is and looks good right to the point where you take away the "stolen" (stolen my a**) from the ones that caused this. but everything AFTER this is negative development. from now on, whenever someone with the right amount of power, influence, coins or whatever is needed, wants to cause a chargeback, they have a good chance to reach that goal by screaming HACKER and getting the gullible mass to approve actions for "the greater good"

besides that, it was stated in this thread that it was a _one_time_thing_. no more chargebacks in future. and yet you want to rush to the media, you want to reach investors with this story and tell them payp--vericoin is secure from thievery? yeah, what are you going to tell them when next time a situation like this erupts. and don't come with "it's impossible to happen again"

So...in the future if 45% of the coins get stolen...what should be done? Kinda hard to consistently explain the reasoning...huh?

would be interesting to know how many of the 8m coins were owned by the devs and early adopters, smart money says 50%+

haha...that may be low. This rollback is as criminal as the theft!
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 15, 2014, 06:45:29 AM

For all the Vericoin holders that are ok with the "rollback", we would like to introduce a new exciting investment option.

"RollbackCoin"

Have your coins stolen?
Make a bad trade?
Sold all your coins and want them back?
Just want to fuck with other holders?

Just use our veri innovative "rollback" button. One push of the rollback button removes the last 25 blocks.*

*This option is only available to the devs (you can trust us)  Wink.
**We will use as often as we like.

I want more info.

PoS?
PoW
PoSA???

Coin count?

I love it

Cheesy

It is what vericoin has become.

Im going to go out on a limb here and probably get shot down in flames.

I believe the right decision was made!!

Someone STOLE nearly a third of the coin supply. That would have seriously lined there pockets and left honest, early investors / adopters potentially in the shit with a coin that was now worthless due to the theft, lack of security ( albeit on MP's part ) and probably a price in the gutter after a 8 mill sell off creating mass panic.

That's not fair on the honest folk who bought into the coin, some people spent big legitimate money on this.

Should MP have been held accountable for the loss, In a word "YES"!!! but do they have that cash available I would hazard a guess as NO!

THE only reason VRC was targeted is the explosion this coin has made on the market. An innovative coin with a great dev team. And a great price to sell your ill gotten coins for to make a shed load of cash.

My rant over, we need to stop talking about it now, whats done is done!

MP I hope have increased security even further moving more coins to cold storage quicker as by there own admission and the devs can get back to the GREAT work they were doing before someone knocked it all off track with the theft.

Im hoping VRC can recover and get over this issue as the coin was going to be right up there with the best altcoins.

There is no FDIC in crypto for good reason...you must accept the risk (all kinds) to see the reward...this attitude is the stated reason Satoshi invented Bitcoin...

P.S. Do the math MintPal makes a shit ton of money...they just wanted to keep it.

Scam....devs sell their coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...fork back...sell coins...you see the problem now?

If you were dumb enough to trust an incompetent exchange (whether you knew or not ahead of time...as there is always risk with 3rd parties) you deserve to lose your coins should that 3rd party fuck up on their responsibilities.
I actually agree with you, but not at the cost of the failure of the coin itself (thus effecting all users of the coin, not just the ones using Mintpal).   Vericoin devs chose to save the coin from one user controlling too much as well as hopefully teach a huge lesson to all the users not to keep their coins on an exchange like that.

You mean...MintPal was "too big to fail".
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 15, 2014, 05:56:06 AM
Wow, Patrick, you really did it. You did a rollback of the blockchain and wrote history with it. Everyone with knowledge about cryptos knows that their were a couple of other options to save the coin (e.g. removing the stolen coins from the supply), but you chose to bail out mintpal. You even were offered support for fixing the issue in a reasonable way, but still you used your honorable achieved credibility to break a fundamental rule. Its a sad day in crypto, especially since this wasn't a scam coin but a serious crypto project.

This move will never be forgotten. To the community, if you all trust a single dev so much, here is the perfect solution for you: Fork again and increase the supply such that pnosker owns 50% of all coins which he should never spend on anything and only use for staking. You will be save, forever! Have a good life.

Crypto history has been made...VERIcoin pulls a 2008. AIG (I mean MP) was "too big to fail"...

293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VOOT] X11 VootCoin-Nitesend | First Decentralized Anon on: July 07, 2014, 12:16:51 AM
Its just depressing seeing the price drop and drop, all we talk about is the price, lets talk about develpoment.Dev should get in here and deliver the white paper and a working mac wallet.

You're no better than those who are "just talking about the price".

Look at how much the dev has delivered in the past week. Remember how this coin use to be dead? Now it's the most traded for the past few days on Bittrex with highest volume 400+ BTC.

You're asking them to get in here and deliver the whitepaper, when what you really want is for them to release more news so the price could go back up for you.

Please, give it some time and give the devs a break. Stop asking them the same shit over and over, they're clearly working really hard on this coin already. These devs deliver and they've proven themselves to us, no need to keep asking. Just wait and be patient. Voot is still undervalued, and it will go back up eventually, just give it time.
Words to live by...thx!
