Leaving the pool again to help you guys out. Last time I left the luck shot through the roof.
It's not working. Leave harder.

Have you tried coming back in and going out again....

I actually have.  I'm willing to go in and out as many times as needed to get the job done.

3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I'm torn between Solo mining and Pool Mining on: August 04, 2011, 04:57:28 PM
Solo mining is highly dependent on luck.  You found 3 blocks in 2 months but in many alternative universes you found 0.

Is the estimated earnings/24h calculated based on the total hash rate of the pool, or does it take into actual round durations and blocks found? It seems a little high.

I was getting about 0.52BTC/day but the past few days it's been 0.30~0.40BTC even though I increased my hashrate with an extra card. It isn't logical but I have this weird feeling it's more than just luck; perhaps there's something wrong with the new server setup?

I'm going to try some different pools for the next couple of days but knowing my luck BTCGuild will now proceed to go on a tear.

PhenomMsrTweaker is a nice little tool!
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-E v1.1 1x slot? on: July 25, 2011, 03:49:53 PM
Thanks all, I know all about 1x extenders, etc.  Just wanted to know of if the PCI-E version mattered.

I tried searching for "PCI-E 1.1" but as you can imagine the results weren't stellar.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / PCI-E v1.1 1x slot? on: July 25, 2011, 03:20:54 AM
I know you can mine with a 1x slot, but does the version matter?  Does PCI-E 1.1 work just as well as 2.0+ when using a 1x slot?

Thinking of using an old board in a mining system.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to control 2 Radeon cards without Crossfire on: July 24, 2011, 11:05:17 PM
You have three options:

1. Dummy plug
2. Catalyst 11.6b
3. Linux

Pick your poison.

What kind of memory are you using? Try putting your RAM in the other three slots.

Join a pool. It may take you to 10 years to find a block on your own (it could also take you 1 hour, it's a complete crapshoot).

Please whitelist me. I'd like to post on the BTC Guild thread: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=7760.2480. I'm not a newbie, I've been mining for a month and have been lurking. I have 3 rigs up and running, and have 10+ years of experience with PC hardware.

Nvm, figured it out with MSI Afterburner.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just bought my 5830s. Need help getting them all to mine. PLEASE HELP!! on: July 23, 2011, 02:56:26 AM
FYI if you're using Windows 7, Catalyst 11.6+11.6b hotfix you don't need a dummy plug.

Try the "Synchronize cards in Multi-GPU config" in TriXX.

If that doesn't work, try MSI Afterburner. It lets you change the settings on each card individually.

Yeah I started doing this last week using GUIMiner. I wish I had known about it when I was starting out... I chose BTCGuild as my pool since it had a high hashrate and zero fees but I unfortunately began mining just before their DDOS and server issues.

I set a couple of machines to mine, went away for a few days and when I got back I found out they were sitting idle most of the time.

I use VirtEx (Canadian). They can deposit directly into my bank account which is nice.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Overclocking with two different cards? on: July 23, 2011, 01:59:37 AM
I'm mining with a 6870 and am about to pop in a 5770 as well. I've tried Trixx before on a dual GPU system a few months ago, but it would only let me change the settings on one card.

What do you guys recommend for overclocking two different GPUs on the same system?
