Here are the options in config file that controls these :
irc=1
dnsseed=1

Dnsseed is an alternative method for getting peers.

Normally I use :
irc=0
dnsseed=0

Since most qt wallets works just fine without these enabled.
In general, options/functions you do not need try to disable, this is true for any apps or os.

Qt wallets make use of irc chat to get nodes for ages, this method is old and outdated and well known.
Also there might be some safety risks.
Your remark "Detailed information is confidential" does not make sense, sounds a bit like a bad joke.
The code is very likely already in VPN, since every qt wallet is a clone of BTC with added features.
VPN is no exception, but has a lot to offer, don't screw up there guys.
You better have a look at some well known p2p filesharing apps for that, just to mention one DHT.

I did a test run today with "fresh" install and reward comming in after a while.

Try to run with Open p2p DNS enabled :
Bitnet > service settings.

Thats my preferred setting.
I have the impression that it makes it easier to connect and that your node gets detected by the bots.
Also it helps strengthen BitNet.

I have some 50++ easily within 60 min.

I have not done enough testing, not much time to do so, but I think it might be related to your problem.
Default settings are off for fresh install and should be enabled for reward getting paid (?)
Will try to test that one myself to see if it has any effect.

How to be a node ?
Simply start up your wallet and you are a node.

How to earn node reward ?
Be online for some hours and reward should be payed.
Payments are irregular at times, some days 0 next day plenty rewards.
Sometimes every 10 - 20 min sometimes 1x per hour.

Wallet has been grown a bit lately a lot of features have been added and many more to come.

Yes it is.
Just received my 1st reward after some 30 min. uptime.

Download of VPN chain is a bit different then other QT wallets, block count in debug window and progress bar are irregular.
But it works as it has been working from the 1st release.
I can not remember ppl reporting having problems with the block chain.
-Do you have enough nodes connected ?
-Is your port forwarding ok ?
(I have some 50 nodes connected within 30 min.)
