1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunding for videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: May 13, 2015, 04:49:58 AM
Hey there, are there any news about this project?

Sadly I haven't heard much about this project after the launch. Are there any developments or plans going on at the moment? It does seem like the creators are busy people but I'd love to see this project move out of beta one day. I like both the concept and the implementation so far.

Hi! Thanks for the interest. The site is still up and running and anyone can use it. Functionally, everything should be working...if it's not let me know and I'll get on it. True, I haven't been spending much time on this project lately. I'd spent about 10 months working on it, but didn't really see much interest in it from the community and have recently gone back to the workforce full-time (need to pay the bills!). I still think challenge funding is an awesome idea and will keep the site around. The past several months allowed me to "finish" the code base and now that I'm working full-time again I have more financial resources that can support the project.

If you have suggestions for new features or changes, please let me know. BTW, just because it's "beta" don't be afraid to use it. If you'd like to test it out I'm still willing to fund bounties with 20,000 bits!

Seems like a pretty good idea to me! This may attract newbies (and some pretenders lol) to join this campaign  A fun way to know things about bitcoins. Cheesy

Thanks. That's one of the goals of my project (in addition to the technology) -- to help increase awareness/adoption.

X-Post from Beginners & Help (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=978714.0) mods feel free to delete the other one.

Hi,

I'm developing a new platform (https://coindeo.com) and concept that revolves around challengefunding. What is challengefunding? Challengefunding turns crowdfunding on its head. Traditional crowdfunding projects have a project owner who asks the community for funding. Challengefunding has the community pledge funds upfront and requires a challengee to do something before funds are released. More info about my platform, Coindeo, can be found here: https://coindeo.com/about.

My platform also allows the funds to be directed to a third party like a charity, so the Ice bucket challenge is an example where people could have used Coindeo to incentivize a celebrity to participate in the challenge. I believe that platform can create interesting social dynamics like how much is it worth someone's time to create a video for charity (and the community) when there is a guaranteed amount of BTC waiting to be donated.

Currently, the platform uses Twitter to create bounties, so to participate in this round of testing you'll need a Twitter account. Coindeo itself does not require account creation nor does it require you to "Sign in with Twitter".

For this round of testing, I'll fund the first 25 people that upload video of a noob using bitcoin for the first time. Just reply to this thread with your Twitter handle and I'll send you a challenge over Twitter. Here's what you'll need to do in order to claim your bounty:

1) Tweet "address <your btc address>" to @coindeobot
2) Send a Direct Message (DM) to @coindeobot with the text: "claimBounty BOUNTY_NUMBER CLAIMCODE". BOUNTY_NUMBER is assigned to you after I send you a challenge. A link to the bounty details will be sent to you in a tweet. CLAIMCODE is an arbitrary code that you create in order to claim the bounty (must be 8 or more characters).
3) Upload your video. Goto https://coindeo.com/claimBounty/BOUNTY_NUMBER, enter your claim code and upload your video.
4) Wait for video to be approved. @coindeobot will tweet you when your video has been approved.
5) Retweet the "video accepted" tweet.
6) Wait for funds to be release.

Additional information about claiming your bounty challenge can be found here: https://coindeo.com/howto#claiming

If you'd like to help test the donation feature, please include the charity's Twitter handle. In addition to the funds being donated to your charity, I'll also changetip you 0.02 BTC after your video is approved.

Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks!
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunding for video challenges): 0.02 BTC for testing on: February 11, 2015, 06:16:09 AM
I've made some exciting changes to Coindeo. Coindeo now allows you to challenge other people on Twitter to create videos for (crowdfunded) bitcoin. Let's say you want to challenge your friend to make a video of himself shaving his head. You create a challenge bounty and you and anyone else can fund the bounty. It's up to your friend to decide whether or not he will accept the challenge and for how much. Obviously, the more more funding that goes into the bounty the greater the incentive for your friend to shave his head.

A historical example of how this platform could have been used is for the Ice Bucket challenge where people challenged celebrities to dump a bucket of ice water on their heads for charity. Coindeo's new challenge bounty allows you to challenge someone to make a video and redirect the payment to a third party, such as a charity. I think this is an awesome feature and will be interesting to see how people decide what is worth their time to create a video for charity.

All of the original gaming video bounty features are still present and have been renamed to "self-created" bounties.

Similar to the last round, I'll be contributing 0.02 BTC to new challenge bounties (first 20 unique recipients only). Note, the recipient of the funds must have a Twitter account with activity more than 60 days ago. The How To has been updated and is still located at https://www.coindeo.com/howto. Or use the Tweet builder at https://www.coindeo.com/builder.

As usual, any feedback is appreciated.

Hey man, just checkin back in with the project. I was helping a buddy of mine setup up a fund and i was reminded with a difficulty i was having on the process.

What sort of hindered me was the claim bounty code. For some reason i thought it was something you had to make before and that i lost it. Maybe make it a little clearer that you make the claim code right there in the direct message to the bot.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the claim code is a pain in the ass, but I think it's necessary to prevent any random person from uploading a video. Maybe I'll consider DM-ing users with a private link instead. In terms of your confusion, do you mean the HowTo is confusing or my instructions on this forum?

As long as there is profit to be made...

He hasn't been online in a while now - dealing with the recent loss of a family member.

Ah, thanks for the update. My condolences.

I just uploaded my video of tetris-bsd. This is a really exciting project, hopefully it can be the twitch killer.
Have you thought about crowdfunding and issuing shares for investors?

Thanks for the feedback. I actually don't envision this service to compete head to head with twitch. I see it more as a complementary service that gamers can use to earn additional income. As a spectator, I'd quickly grow tired of constantly funding gamers for videos. However, I think people would be willing to fund "special event" videos where pro gamers put on prize fights with other pro gamers or showcase something extra like a strategy/how-to video.

Regarding funding...yeah, I'm trying to figure out where this project will go from here. If I can show there is a real market for this service then I really think something like this would get a decent valuation. Personally, I see a lot of potential, but getting legitimate users to use the service regularly might be a challenge. I'll try reaching out to some pro gamers once I think the site is in a decent state. I actually took some time off from full-time work to work on this project, however, now I need to figure out whether to pursue it or go back to the grind.

BTW, I've verified your video...you just need to retweet to have the funds released.

Hello im interested in testing out this site for you just gotta install some kinda opensource screen recorder. It would be interesting if there was some kind of recording and streaming functionality, i would give a micro payment in bitcoin for a service like that.

awesome, thanks for testing! I've funded your bounty (waiting for confirmations).

Still looking for testers!

@Power-Inside: Your 0.02 is waiting...just need you to retweet in order for the funds to be released.

BTW, thanks Cyber-Logic and xdrpx, I found a fixed a few minor bugs due to your testing. Also made some minor enhancements...upload progress bar actually works right now.
12  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 15, 2015, 05:29:15 AM
Cyber-Logic and xdrpx, your bounties should have been released, so you should see coins in your wallets now.

Power-Inside, thanks for testing! You just need to retweet the video tweet from @coindeobot (https://twitter.com/coindeobot/status/555484532292333569) and then your funds will be released.
13  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 04:49:55 PM
I'd like to help at testing Smiley
I play a hell lot of games and my comp's good enough to stream and record.

Great! Would love to have more testers.
14  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 04:48:25 PM
Thank you, i'm stuck with step 4

when I try to Direct message @coindeobot on twitter, twitter tells me "This user doesn't follow you. You can only send messages to people who do." I think the bot has to follow me?

Hmmm, that's a bug with the bot. After you register your bitcoin address @coindeobot should have automatically followed you. I see that it worked for Cyber-Logic, but didn't work for you. I'll need to track down that bug. In the meantime, I've manually followed you so you can DM @coindeobot now.
15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 04:46:42 PM
I've got a question - will the site process the uploaded video? I render at 720p and 10mbps usually, so that file might be too large for streaming if the site doesn't process and downscale the video at different qualities.

BTW- My video is ready for encoding and I've tweeted the bounty part.

The video actually get's uploaded directly to YouTube, so you can upload anything they can process. Of course the larger the video the longer it will take to upload. Right now the upload progress bar is kind of wonking, but I'll work on improving it.

I'll give this a shot. Tend to play a bit of Hearthstone, let me know if you still need testing done.

Yes, still need testing! Please do test.
17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 09:43:41 AM
Cyber-Logic, BTW you should be tweeting at @coindeobot not @coindeo. It took me a minute to figure out why my bot didn't respond to your 'address' tweet  Tongue
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 09:25:41 AM
Cool! I'll be giving this one a shot. I'll upload a video of me gaming on Global offensive.

Edit: I've made the first 2 tweets, waiting for you to fund the bounty : https://www.coindeo.com/bountyDetails/3

Thanks!

Awesome! I've funded your bounty!
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 14, 2015, 09:24:25 AM
Hi, since the whole thing is about crowdfunding for gaming videos, would a video of me playing CS:GO be acceptable/appropriate?

EDIT: The commands says "1YOUR_BITCOIN_ADDRESS" - I'm assuming we don't have to enter "1" twice? Because my address already starts with 1.

Yes, it should be a single 1.

EDIT: and yes, a video of you playing CS:GO is definitely acceptable.
20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA TEST] Coindeo (Crowdfunded coins for gaming videos): 0.02 BTC for testing on: January 13, 2015, 10:46:06 PM
