Oman this would be so cool if an entrepreneur could package this in the form of a monero application specific device that was 100% plug and play with an environment designed to prevent them from being able to make security mistakes. I mine with a single quadcore CPU and Radeon 7970 - probably generates 1 XMR every 2 days and costs me more than it would to buy them. Just like running SETI@Home or other distributed computing projects, not all actions need be profit motivated although I acknowledge that the network effects are significantly higher for those that are.

The question is "why people keep mining while the return is negative ?" "why the price is keept low so that miner aren't able to get profit from it ?"

There are some reasons which are not public, as far as common sense would tend to not mine something not profitable (or even reaching null balance)

Of course i can.

Simplewallet has two mode of working :
- console interface in which user can interact through typing command.
- an RPC (Remote Process Communication) mode based on json command which can be used by third party software to interact with the simplewallet (all operation available).

So there are a few available commands like :
- getbalance ( get the balance of the wallet);
- getaddress (get the address of the wallet);
- transfer (which transfer a specified amount to a specified address)
and so on.

So this package is a library written in nodejs (javascript) providing a wallet object, and several methods which can be easily used in more general nodejs project.
The aim of this library is also to provide a complete payment acceptance system for merchant website using nodejs as backend.

One of the feature i liked to developped is the cyphered payment_id.
In Monero it is impossible to know from whom the transaction is coming without a payment_id which must be communicated between senders and receiver.

A payment_id is a 64 hexadecimal character strings which can be generated by the library either randomly without any embeded information, or being the result of a cyphering using AES-256-CTR with a password of a 32characters clear text.
I decided to implement a method which take as arguments :
- a UserId commonly a digit (10digits long)
- an amount (9 digits long like 25659 for 256.59, automatically zerofilled at generation)
and given that it will produce a 32 char string including a unix timestamp.

I just realise it's totally useless feature, but it was fun to do Smiley

You are too suspicious dude, if you read my post history, you will now im involved in monero since almost begining, running a pool (which i closed last week) and supporting this currency since then.

So now that i have more time for myself (finished my mission to my last customer few weeks ago) i have time to dedicate to coding.

I decided to learn nodejs and to write something usefull to community.

So you see im not in any kind of war, fud, whatever suspicious mind can imagine, but simply trying to share work and knowledge.

Also this kind of project is improving faster with the help of community, feedbacking and participating to code.

So please excuse me, but the more i reply to you, the more you keep me away from this primary goal of my post.

I also see a point for b2b.

What i mean is that for a owner of company living in a high tax country, buying mining service with his company and getting btc back to his own wallet is a way to evade some money from his company without having to pay tax he would in normal salary process.

But investing 14000$ for a benefit of 2400$ at the end is a very low return.

I would like to ask a question to customer: How can it be profitable ?

I was looking for a 15th/s which cost $6400 and $0.0015/gh/s a day.
So basically we have 6400$+ 12x657$ for one year : $14500 a year.

So if i use coinwars calculator http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=15000&p=0&pc=0&pf=0.00&d=47427554950.64830000&r=25.00000000&er=288.01000000&hc=6400
With constant diff and constant current price of btc/usd it would generate 16720$ a year which mean only 2220$ of profit a year.

So it would take 3 years to just return on the setup fee (6400$).

But this calculator is wrong because difficulty is raising with time, and generated btc is lowering with time for constant hashrate.

if i use https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator with a 20% raise of difficulty, it's never profitable.

So what am i missing here ? and what can make it profitable ?
