This is slightly off-topic, but chodpapa and some others were discussing what might be NSA's endgame to the recent Snowden stuff, and this article jumped out at me:

The app links your Facebook friends and email contacts to your bank account. All data is sent over a 256-bit encrypted connection—the same encryption method used to protect classified government information—and transactions are protected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Use Venmo on the new iPhone equipped with the fingerprint reader and you're golden.

The simple act of convincing enough friends to use the service makes it useful.

And Bitcoin isn't at $500 per because...

Exactly!  Fuck... That... Shit.

No effect on BTC price.  Maybe help it a bit like Dwolla.  Do I *have* to link a FB to it?  If so, no thanks, not ever.
4  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: August 01, 2013, 07:53:17 PM
Sucks Undecided but much <3 for Slush's pool for like all the evars
Thanks peeps for responding expediently -- I've been scratching my head (BUH? Huh) all morning second-guessing my setup.  Nice stress load relieved!
<3 this forum too -- despite any contrary popular opinions  Cheesy Wink

Is there some sort of problem with the pool right now or is it just me?

mining software says pool is "down/slow" ... unable to connect Huh
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs shipping 300 units a day on: July 23, 2013, 10:30:05 PM
If 9000 GH/s = 90 TH/s, how does 40,500 GH/s = 40.5 TH/s? I did the same math, removing two 0's.

Your level of stupid never ceases to amaze me.  I don't even know how you maintain respiration.  It seems your autonomic nervous system would have decided to pack up and head to more lush pastures, like a desert somewhere, so that it can die quietly and finally be free of you.

+1

BTW, you guys (BFL) sent me four (4) jalepenos when I only ordered two (2).  Thanks!
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: damn... just sold all my btc for 8.7 and now it's 9.5 on: July 08, 2013, 09:07:23 PM
Oh man, this thread is hilarious... I sold all my BTC a few months ago for roughly $225 each.

Sold all?  As in, 100% of your holdings?  Do you have any intention to buy in again (or mine)?
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be ready for the new crash coming... on: July 08, 2013, 09:05:44 PM
OP chart is totally meaningless without any quantifications.  What time scale are we looking at here?  And are these crossovers the Goomboo standard 10/21 ?  Looks like a hasty emotional copy/paste from Clarkmoody ...  Roll Eyes
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Guess the Bitcoin rate end of July on: July 06, 2013, 08:20:10 AM

Easy poll that presents no challenge.

LOL since when are polls difficult?  It's not a calc test man.  Er, kid.   Grin
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Let's be realistic. For what reason do you really think Bitcoin will rise? on: July 06, 2013, 08:18:11 AM
"Bitcoin is still a child"; June 2011 bubble = it spoke its first word
April 2013 bubble = it spoke its first curse word
 Cheesy
and how do we react when we hear a child utter its first socially awkward statement?
Depends on who we are, as individuals.  But consider this:  The more "adults" standing around watching the child as it spews novel (and "socially prohibited" / rebellious) verbiage, the more attention (bad / good, whatever, any) will be lavished upon it.
Most children speak a first word -- the event is not so amazing on the whole.
But personally, I think it's hilarious when a young child uses vulgar language it probably doesn't understand at an unexpected time!   Grin
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am fucking panicking on: July 06, 2013, 08:07:49 AM
Selling right now, is mean you admitted that BTC is a bad ideal except if you are some earlier adopters that you just want to cash out with profit.
-------------------------------
Bitcoin's ideal is worth much more than its current exchange value
This for sure ,let's those weak get out or those superior earlier adopters get out ....The future of BTC is who have the faith in it....
This no reason panic ,is just because of the manipulators, what ever you believe or not ...half months later , all people selling today will regret by that time....

Most of those selling are just buying back cheaper. There's not so much people cashing out for good, that already happened in 2011.

And BTW, anybody entering the this market today is still an early adopter.

I know I'm doing the bolded part.  Yes, I am a HUGE Bitcoin believer -- I want to hold a LOT of bitcoin in the future.  But when the trend is clearly down and strongly so, and I have a bit of free time, why not make it so that I can hold even MORE bitcoin in the future?

13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where we are. on: July 05, 2013, 06:15:05 PM
I'm not coming back to this thread to gloat, but because I honestly would like to hear what your thoughts are on what is going on right now.

So, do you need to adjust your model? Or are you going to say this was within the parameters of what you expected?

doubtful it needs adjusting... capitulation takes time.  You're a young one, aren't you?

16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Zerocoin 0.1 is out will BTC addopt this ? and will affect the price ? on: July 05, 2013, 02:47:59 PM
https://twitter.com/ZerocoinProject/status/353001864868007937

will you buy and get more into bitcoin, if bitcoin foundation decide to adopt this when is stable?

Why we need some group of people to decide what we should use? Bitcoin Foundation is not a government.
If Zerocoin will be really useful for people, people will use it.

w3c, back in the 90's, made it so that everyone who uses the Web does so in a uniform way -- for the most part -- using standards and agreed upon protocols (xhtml, http, tcp/ip, etc.)
Do you think they were malicious in doing what they did back then?
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Denial is fading, fear is approaching on: July 05, 2013, 04:05:55 AM
I don't think the 60's will hold.

50,51 & 55 is where the real support is unless it gets pulled

Post me a chart with fancy lines drawn dude
I'm all about changing my bids lower at the drop of a hat  Shocked Grin Wink
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC is a good buy. on: July 05, 2013, 04:04:15 AM
Isn't PPC one of those coins, like Freicoin, that are based on failed Keynesian principles, something about deflating currency not promoting rampant consumerism, and hoarding being bad rather than a natural liquidity provision/removal mechanism?
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not too familiar with the concept of this one.

Not quite. PPC is deflationary because although there is no cap on the supply, the supply is controlled by Moore's law which basically caps the supply by lowing the inflation rate so low that it's even lower than Litecoin. Essentially the inflation rate determines scarcity not just the total supply. The total supply is at 19 million which is equal to Litecoin but the price isn't equal to Litecoin yet. That means there is a lot of room for profit if you buy at these prices and it reaches $3.

Because PPC will be mined with ASICs, GPU miners will have to switch to Litecoin. Basically PPC's market cap and difficulty determine the price. Difficulty determines the scarcity while the market cap shows the demand. If it's scarce and in high demand the price rises.

It's in higher demand because Bitcoin prices fall and people use PPC as a store of value because it's better at that than Bitcoin or Litecoin.

Not quite sure on the truth of that bolded statement; i thought LTC was something like 80 M total supply?

It's also an implementation of the Proof-of-stake system as an alternative method to decide who signs transactions.
