Hello, I'm one of several Developers on Opal.
Our coin has been alive and kicking for nearly 2 months and has had constant activity and a growing community.
I very much enjoy the work you produce on your site and have referred to it many times in the past before making investment decisions.
I would be very grateful, if you would take a moment to review the materials I've put together below and
and to be kind enough to make a decision to add Opal to your website. If you need an further material, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you in advance.

I just want to say it's just beautiful to watch the Opal community grow. You've all been very helpful in making Opal the best it can be. I am just beaming with pride to be apart of this. The Future is Bright!
Now I'm feeling motivated by this progress to make some content of my own to sell on the marketplace.

I'm curious. what kinda of things would you all like to see in the marketplace?
(art, music, how-to guides, custom programs, Steam keys, ect)

But thats exactly what happens.. Take a look at  Ortho ICO, funds release DEV heads for the hills and sells off his coins.

https://c-cex.com/?p=ortho-btc

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=788907.0

or the Dozens of other Scams ICO's..

they might aswell just 100% premine. or BTC Loan that I will never repay and here are some useless coins for you trouble.

Most people get paid AFTER they've done the work, NOT before.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is better than any other cryptocurrency on: October 31, 2014, 03:31:47 PM
Bitcoin is better than any other cryptocurrency for a simple reason that other cryptocurrency such as Litecoin and Dogecoin could hardly be used to purchase for retail commodities even if they are accepted by the dealers. And they are usually used for investment or storage value.
well, Bitcoin is the ORIGINAL idea for the whole cryptocurrency thing and others are just copies or immitations in other words, and sometimes with some innovations or changes but nothing significant YET.
Bitcoin isn't the orginal. It's just been the most successful, but I also agree with the post above the transfer rate on Bitcoin is atrocious. I think of Bitcoin in the same way I look at cellphones or television. If you think Bitcoin is at the forefront of crypto technology, then your head is in the sand. Bitcoin is widely accepted, because of the early investors and crypto enthuasists. Bitcoin will most like always be around as the core value base of crypto in the same way as gold was for a longtime the base of all fiat currency. Bitcoin is cryptocurrency Gold, but much like gold, it is difficult to obtain and time consuming to transfer.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto ICO's are killing Bitcoin. on: October 31, 2014, 03:21:12 PM
I never understood why cryptotraders and exchanges support ICO's, my reasoning is this: An ICO gets funded, then they do what, they SELL the BTC they raised for fiat and push the price dive on BTC, thus taking all those BTC out of the trade environment, anyone thinking that an ICO would reinvest into the exchange is naive. This hurts everyone, even the exchanges. You might say "Well the exchanges get fee's on ico" well that is true, but they are losing all future potential fee's on those coins, if they had continued trade on the market.

So in Short - ICO's are killing Bitcoin and CryptoMarkets.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | FILE SHARING IN BETA | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 31, 2014, 03:13:52 PM
Its calm these day.

Did you have an estimation when the market will be ready ?

thanks Smiley
I think the main reason things have gotten so "calm" ,as you say, is that everyone is on the edge of their seats watching Bitcoins price and bigger traders are too busy getting raped by the 3-4 ico's popping up each week. I never understood why cryptotraders and exchanges support ico's, my reasoning is this: An ICO gets funded, then they do what, they SELL the BTC they raised for fiat and push the price dive on BTC, thus taking all those BTC out of the trade environment, anyone thinking that an ICO would reinvest into the exchange is naive. sorry for the rant, I think I might start a thread on this topic.

For those of us running a headless / command line version of opal.

Is there any youtube video in the works to show how the new qt wallet works, the current features, and future features discussed?

If I'm in chat with someone and want to point them to a video about opal, a demo video would be really nice.
Current have video in the works, along the "What is Bitcoin?" style.

When I've been mining, I typically get my shares within a few hours, but I was throwing a fair amount of rental hash at it.

Glad to see Opal gaining attention.
Yes Opal is Definitely getting a reputation as a reliable coin that delivers with those who are aware of it. My only wish is I had more BTC to buy more :/
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 24, 2014, 09:23:21 PM
it all looks very good and sounds interesting but need more exposure.
I agree exposure is critical, but the Devs can only do so much to gain exposure, which they have been (contacting websites, exchanges, verification services, and media outlets). Opal didn't have an ico or massive premine to dump to generate btc to pay for lots of advertising. So, a lot of it falls onto the community to get the coin a larger following. The developers have given you a number of tools and features to speak about. Everything that has happened through Opal has been through shear will and skill of the development team. All Opal needs is for the people who support it (or at the very least those who want to profit from it) to get out there and just talk about opal and ask for sites to accept opal. The more exposure we get the better.

I really do think this coin is here to stay and would love to see the community get the name out there in fun and innovative ways.

Here is a list of things you can do. (feel free to add any ideas you think will help)

Bitcointalk-
1. Talk about Opal on other BCT threads (not other altcoin threads, thats just rude)

Make Opal someones first-
2. Take a moment just talk about opal to friends you know who aren't into crypto (just have them join IRC to chat, plus Opal gets rained frequently)

CryptoNews-
3. There are a number of news outlets that cover crypto on: youtube, web, and  twitter. (call-in,comment,message about opal)
example- https://twitter.com/Bitcoin_Truth/status/521076703054295040

Troll Chat / IRC
4. Just bring opal into the conversation "I'm really excited about Opals next project" (Dont spam "buy opal" please, just get a conversation going)

Videos / Memes / Websites
5. Be apart of Opal, makes something to show your pride. ( I would love to see some silly Opal dance videos Tongue )

(feel free to add any ideas you think will help)

OPAL depends on YOU to succeed

Just a reminder... Private message people about Opal, make it a conversation. I will also say this, If you even hold 1 opal you are a part of the Opal team. Put it on your resume tell your family and friends
"I am part of a team of developers building a cutting edge cryptocurrency called Opal.".
You (yes YOU, the person reading this right now) are the one person who will make this coin successful.
You have been given so much to be proud of with the development of opal.

It's on your shoulders now, the choice is yours.

Ask yourself "Do I want Opal to succeed?"

any news on coinsource
and what about the 5 pods? cryptoasian still doesnt respond?

we are still waiting on cryptoasian, a video call is all that's needed to bump us up from 4 to 5 stars.
In the meanwhile we have done video interviews with other parties , so we don't have a problem with that at all.

Since we feel we deserve the best rating, we wait for cryptoasian's 5th star, but decided to pay coinsource as well for verification.
We have supplied coinsource with all the info they need, and they just need to wrap it up now.

We're trying to distance ourselves from the PND schemes as much as possible.
Transparency is important to us and we are aware verification is important to a lot of people nowadays.
Sadly, No coin is safe from PND groups, but at least it shows that more and more are seeing potential in the coin (even if it is some seeking a short turn around).
I'm in Opal for the long haul Smiley

I am always reminded that coins true value is not reflected in its price.

i kinda like the music in the movie Smiley

but perhaps after that movie you could like the previous person mentioned perhaps add a tutorial to it to use all wallets features for people that need it Smiley
that is not a bad idea to be honest and a video tutorial is always nicer to follow then a written one, but perhaps other ppl will think differently about this.
either way, if you do that then you satisfy both groups Smiley

The movie was just meant to be a Theatrical Announcement trailer. There are plans in the works of having an instructional video in the future, after we polish up the features to make them more user friendly. The info on the video will be updated soon.

I am glad you enjoyed the video and I do appreciate the constructive criticism. It help a lot with improving the quality and direction of future work. We've all been pushing really hard to get things out a quickly as we can, I know that's not really an excuse, but it is better then doing nothing at all.

You make some good points, although.. we are technically called Opal and not Opalcoin. Unfortunately we were limited with domain name choice and so had to buy opal-coin.com, which sucks a bit. It's not so bad because it is a "coin" - it's just the coin is not named OpalCoin.

How about remove the 14,9M and use those letters for "(Coin)"

I don't know what wallet trading means (I know, it's linked to Bittrex's API) but it isn't really self explanatory. It makes it sound like you can move coins from one wallet to another person's wallet.

Having about 4-5 main keywords in the subject is plenty. Anything more than that, gets confusing to read, to comprehend, and is counter productive after awhile, especially to new people.

When a new person looks at a message subject, they take about 2 seconds or less to decide if it is interesting enough to click on. It should be worded in simple but important terms. Don't keyword stuff.
How about this..

Just to let you guys know, the block explorers aren't working right now.

Seems like they couldn't handle the strength of Opauqe!

Explorah.net/opal seems to be working now
Explorah still needs to fix their rich list calculations. :/

OK the Scrypt Opal Multipool is up and running:

http://www.o-pool.com/

You can connect to:

stratum+tcp://o-pool.com:4444

Username should be your Opal receiving address and password can be anything.

This is a "Version 1" release. We will be updating the UI and will be adding more coins / algos in the next days.

Payments are made "live" ... I.E. As soon as mined blocks and coin transfers have been confirmed.

Any questions - please ask Smiley
MULTIPOOL IS UP!!! YA!!!
