1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Succeed Without Mass Adoption? on: April 18, 2025, 05:09:43 PM
When we see Bitcoin’s price surge, it begs the questio... Will it remain just a speculative asset? If so, that makes it a risky long-term hold, especially if adoption stalls. Worse, if whales and corporations dominate supply, they could manipulate the market, turning Bitcoin into a game for the wealthy rather than the many. That would defeat its purpose entirely.

So if someone doubts Bitcoin’s future over these concerns, how do you convince them it’s here to stay and grow?
I think alot of people don't consider bitcoin as a medium of exchange for their every day transaction. They consider it more as a state of value, a long term investment plan that would yield them enough profits over time. Yes demand would drive price higher so will scarcity and to be bitcoin limited supply also plays a crucial role in the price.
We see how bitcoin adoption grew over the years, we didn't need to convince anyone to invest in bitcoin but with over time bitcoin prove to everyone what it can do in the nearest future. Now we have government and institutions trying to also get their hands on bitcoin.

3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Holyweek season gambling break on: April 17, 2025, 11:47:37 PM
Who’s with me here that will abstain gambling on this holyweek? I’m not a religious person but I do kinda feel that I need to abstain gambling for a while or else I might experience bad luck.

This thread is just a reminder to focus on holiday with your family if you have plans and abstain gambling in case you experience an urge to gamble.

Turn away from social media or anything that will make you feel the urge to gamble.

If you don’t have plans with your fam then enjoy gambling since there’s a lot of promotion now.

Keep safe everyone!
Well everyone would need to make a choice for them selfs. Weather you are a religious person or not, you can decide to still gamble if you so wish. Yes it's a religious week, a special one at that, but people would still do business as usual so I don't see any reason why you may want to take some time away. Though for me Im not keen on gambling for now due to so many preparations for the events during the weekends, so gambling might not be amongst my schedule.
4  Economy / Gambling / Re: Read Before You Bet — The Importance of Reading ANN Threads to Avoid Scam on: April 17, 2025, 11:43:38 PM
So, I will advise to check their announcement thread before jumping on a gambling platform. You can ignore positive reviews by brand new users since they can be manipulated. At least try those who are very active on this board, and the team are supporting their gamblers. So it will reduce the potential risk of losing funds through locking accounts, etc.
Actually, not every gambler knows that most casinos or gambling sites creates an Ann thread here on this forum. We have so many other forums where such sites places their announcements. Such gamblers who end up creating scam accusation thread on the forum after having issues with an inactive casino, might have been referred here by Google or what ever link they clicked to try find help. So I won't totally blame them as well. But then they should try their best to do research on hold reputable casino before registering on them.
5  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: E get any risk if person dey always trade with one P2P merchant for inside excha on: April 17, 2025, 09:15:06 AM
decide say anytime you want trade you go contact them to trade but everything go still happen inside the exchange just to dey safe.
There's nothing wrong in trading with the same merchant again. Sometimes I even prefer those merchant I have good experience with during my trading. But then I don't usually keep records of their names or numbers for my next trades because you will surely get a good deal with different traders if you know what you are doing while trading p2p.
We should know that it's better not to contact any trader off the trading platform to avoid scams. Any deals that isn't in the consent of the trading platform or exchange is purely at your own risk.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Chasing Perfect Entries. Start Mastering Your Exit on: April 17, 2025, 07:42:24 AM
Selling early allow to realize some profits I agree, but if the price doesn't go down after you've sold what will you do exactly? If you want to trade again you'll need to buy Bitcoins at a higher price than the one you bought your bag the first time. So finally you'll get less Bitcoins than what you've had initially sadly. Then if you want to increase your bag in Bitcoin it will not possible if the price continue to increase like what it has done since several years with this strategy unfortunately.
For bitcoin, I don't think anyone exit plan is much of our interest. Though we all have personal experience with the market and we are to follow our trading investment plans. Bitcoin over the years has shown a lot of reasons why we should even keep adding to our stash and buying more. Unlike those meme tokens out there that mores in a more volatile nature, driven by the idea of it's developers to make profits from them.
Entries won't matter, if you have a good plan on how, what and when to in the market. Its all just psychology.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Changing games showed me a different thing. on: April 16, 2025, 11:02:40 PM
I don't think there's anything wrong in playing a particular game over again. I think it gives you a kind of edge, literally you may have more confidence playing that game because you know what to do when you count a number of round. I don't know about other though, this is kind of how I started playing crash and now I enjoy playing crash even more. I try to wait for very big move then count at least three crash for the next round then place my bets. It works most times but like you know, you can't be sure when it comes to gambling.

The only disadvantage of playing a particular game over an over again is the fact that you might be limiting your luck, it's possible that if you decide to make a change then you might have a little bit of luck in that game you switched to. One advantage of playing the same game repeatedly is confidence it comes with and also getting used to the systems can give you a little edge over the game but nothing is still guaranteed. When you are talking about crash games you must think again, those patterns happen randomly, don't get too confident.
Well, everyone have varying experiences and opinions about that. In sport betting, we might decide to split our bet into different games just so we might have an edge in our games. It's provides us a better chances to win. But then, most time you might end up losing too if you place your bet on a game you aren't familiar with. There are some sports that I know exist but don't even think about betting on them because I have no knowledge on how they work. That just how it's is for casino.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do gamblers thinking there are provably fair games? on: April 16, 2025, 10:53:50 PM
Do not misinterprete house edge to manipulation.
It's funny how some gamblers might think they would change their life's through gambling. I've seen so many times while playing some casino games, people wagering amounts up to $10k for just a single round, and I will be like. What are they really think placing such amount of money in a single game, which there's no guarantee that it might even play out in the first few seconds.

So many people just keeps taking too much risk than they should, having the mindset that they can put smart the casino by taking profits in few games. As gamblers we should try our best to minimise risk to avoid lossing too much to the house.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's not greed, it's called risk. on: April 16, 2025, 10:44:15 PM
I told them that in Bitcoin investment risk is synonymous with greed. I am not greedy because I am predicting a higher profit; it's just risk-taking. I am sure that ten years ago anybody who said he would sell at $100,000 might be generally seen as greedy. But today, they are celebrated risk-takers.
We should know that when it comes to investment, everyone has their own personal plan on how to manage thier risk and also take their profits. It's not called greed, it's called having a trading plan. Most investors jumps into the market with no plan or target in mind. And you see most of such persons, would make profits in the bulls and loss it to the bears . It's usually advisable to take profits when you get up to 10x your investment plan. Being too greedy and might make you profitable or ruin you on the long run but then, It's all depends on your goals as an investor.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you are winning, it is better. If you are losing, all your money can be gone. on: April 16, 2025, 12:06:46 AM
Have you gambled to the point that you gambled and no money left in your bank and on your wallet?
Gambling to the extent that you no longer have any money in your account, that's obviously addiction. Any gambler that uses every last penny he's got to gamble is already an addict and if he doesn't cub this issue soon, it might turn into something else entirely and it may ruin his life. As a gambler we should recognise every flaws in our sessions. When we gamble and make too many losses, then take some time off. You don't need to force it's. Some might go to the extent of borrowing money to continue, hoping they will get it back. That's absolutely wrong.
11  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: But why people the still choose Ponzi schemes over bitcoin? on: April 15, 2025, 01:37:25 PM

Even the way the world done they now with information at the palm of the hand with just a click to the internet people still no the want feat differentiate between real and fake assets and platforms. Since I know about bitcoin I never hear this shitty stories but people for we Nigeria no want to they exercise patience to invest inside bitcoin where their money no go get scammed. Normally we know say when Ponzi scheme wan crash na this type of excuses them the start with to control the fears and carnage the information of a sudden crash feat cause their foolish victims and also for the scammers to get ample time to clean any traces.
I never heard about this platform until recently when I saw it on social media about peoples money being stolen. I tried doing some findings and I was surprised how many average Nigerians actually invested a lot of money on this platform hoping to get more money back. The problem with Nigerians is that we leap before we look. Several times news publications had been out saying that they all should be careful of that platform but so many just didn't listen, until it happened.

There are so many better ways on line to invest money on, but people only trust what they know. They don't want to try something new so long they already have a bad idea about it. Well, what happened was devastating but then it should serve as a mistake to many Nigerians.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How are casinos preventing hacks? on: April 15, 2025, 01:28:16 PM
Usually, the news about hacks usually concerns crypto exchanges but we know that it is not impossible for casinos to get hacked as well. What possible steps do you think casinos are taking to ensure safety of our data, that they are not in a situation where they face a data breach from a hack?
If I remember correctly, someone posted a topic about his gambling account being hacked yesterday and the possible harm that this would have on him since he no longer use the account since years ago. Well same as for exchanges, when these cyber criminals get to back your accounts, they either make withdrawal of any fissble funds they can get their hands on, or steal your personal data to use in malicious acts. The best the casino can do is to block your account if being reported by you, and personally they should aswell work on their security system. Similar to exchanges, casino hodls alot of funds deposited by their users for future uses. So it is important that their security is tight.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tracking Bitcoin price versus tracking share market price trends on: April 15, 2025, 11:33:43 AM
Do you feel that tracking share market price is much easier than tracking Bitcoin prices or crypto coins prices ? Like if we see case of share market, there are dedicated TV news channels discussing business news related to shared and stocks of different companies ? Do you see similar thing happening for crypto also in future ?
Crypto for what we know is to the world an upcoming technological advancement. Things like stock have been existing for long and control majority of the world economic power. There has to be a continuous update on the change in the market as most people would be interested in such. Also it's not that hard to get updates on news about cryptocurrency, we have many sites that give updates on both price and market changes, like coingeko, cointelegraph and some others. Some of them also have live update, like floating tabs you can add to your screen to help monitor price.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My online gambling account implications on: April 15, 2025, 12:11:23 AM
Hey people, so today I got and am Mail notifications that I have successfully logged into --- name of casino withheld by me, but this is a gambling site I used a long time ago, like 4 years even before coming to this forum, so I quickly demanded a password reset through email since the notification log came in through email, and low and behold I was told that my email gave been changed, so the hacker or an insider gave control of the account.
The question is, what are the implications of losing your casino/gambling site account, I know about money laundering but since there are wager conditions what else could be implications?
If the casino didn't require your personal information for kyc then I don't think your should worry much about the account below Ng hacked since you clearly don't make use of it anymore. If not, they you should request the account being locked as it has been hacked. Scammers might try to use your account to carry out illicit activities which will all be linked back to you using your kyc. Though it might have been easy for them to access the account since you don't use it any more that shouldn't be much of a problem. Just make sure to report it being hacked.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: To increase activity on the Naija board... on: April 14, 2025, 03:20:54 PM
I think having incentives in place can help improve the post quality of low ranked members in the local board. I did something like this in the past where I gifted the best poster in the month some usdt:
Post Quality Review [Monthly BTC Reward]

Other members of the community like Igebotz and CryptoprenuerBrainboss also had merit threads for the best posters at that time.
I still remember when that best poster initiative was active, and many people were working hard to create high quality content and win rewards every week. I'm not sure why it was discontinued, maybe someone can help point me to something. However, with our new moderator on the local board, we might consider reviving it.
If @Amphenomenon updates the thread with the top 3 posters each week, the moderator could reward them with merits. This could encourage more people to create good content and participate well on the local board
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Shift from Anonymous to Regulated Casinos on: April 14, 2025, 03:11:58 PM
When I first started gambling around 2015, anonymous casinos and sportsbooks were the norm. Some of you might remember DirectBet - it was huge back then before eventually shutting down.

Now, the landscape has clearly shifted toward regulated platforms. Yet some anonymous options still exist. So I'm curious, where does the community stand today? Would you still choose anonymous casinos, or do you prefer sticking with regulated ones?
We saw how many of these anonymous casino were forced to implement some verification procedures on their users. It used to be a thing of the past where any one can choose to either keep his privacy by using the anonymous casino or go with those that doesn't offer such. But now we have more of the regulated casinos and most people no longer care about their privacy. With the way it is turning out to be, soon we might have just the regulated casinos where everyone would have to go through kyc upon registering.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe you'll be a successful sports bettor someday? on: April 14, 2025, 01:05:08 PM
We’ve all seen so-called experts online claiming they’re profitable in sports betting. They flash betting logs with impressive win rates and preach about proper bankroll management and discipline, stressing that the key is long-term success, something most of us realistically won’t achieve.

So, as a sports bettor yourself: Do you believe you already have the skills to succeed? Or do you think you can develop them over time? Or are you just in it for fun, betting to cheer on your favorite teams?
It's not something you want to invest too much effort trying to be good at. It's all comes from lucky game you play from time to time. All compound to give you decent amount of wins over time. Most of those gamblers online won't tell you how much losses they made before they were able to at least call their self successful. They just post so many things online to request people join their betting groups. If we all just try to enjoy our self while gambling, I don't think there's any need to listen much to so many things online about being professional.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you still consider yourself a smart bettor even when losing? on: April 13, 2025, 11:52:50 PM
Explain based on your understanding and experience. We're focusing on losses here, but if you want to share insights from your winning strategies (if you're profitable), that would be even more interesting to discuss.
When you find your self losing, there's tendency for one who have goo risk management to end his gambling activity for the day. Though some times you may not be able to control your self not until your funds have fully been exhausted. Though I won't say someone is a smart better just because he's able to stop himself for losing as all of that is just luck, a smart better is someone who does try to make his losses back, that way he keeps himself in control and play better on his next round.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thaddeus Dryja:Here Comes the Hornet’s Nest: Can Bitcoin Resist Nation State? on: April 13, 2025, 05:07:59 PM
To be honest I've had some thoughts recently about what he summed up in his short speech. The government is trying to trick people into believing they support decentralization creating bitcoin reserves what so ever. All this is just a way for them to manipulate bitcoin since they know they can't control it because its decentralized nature fights against that.

From what Thaddeus Dryja said about people buying ETFs thinking they own bitcoin it's absolutely true. ETFs aren't bitcoin and I suppose every investor buying a share knows that what they hold won't give them the same power as owning their own custodian wallet.

from the looks of it recently the memepool seems to be empty with just a single block having no fee as low as 0sat/Vb. Is this supposed to be a problem? No.  for those with just basic bitcoin knowledge they'd be glad fees are low and just jump in and out of the blockchain whenever they feel like. But yes, it's quite concerning as things like ETFs, centralized exchanges might be a problem because if the majority buy shares owned by these big bodies they literally have no connection whatsoever with the blockchain or the bitcoin network. They won't run nodes to help the integrity of the network. They all believe they are safe until it happens. Remember the government has control over these bodies literally the government owns your coins not even the big exchanges or the institutional owned ETFs that you buy as shares.

This all made me think what are the government planning? We have ETFs(which they approved not quite long), centralized exchanges and now government reserves. And the other day, they are no longer going to fight against mixing services, which they clearly backslashed and fought against.

Don't we see that they are trying to control bitcoin in a way. Just think if the government holds a majority of bitcoins through various means they control, they literally can control the market the same way they did with gold back then. They can't get your coins but they can decide to dump its price whenever they feel like creating fear in holders. Some might be scared and sell off even increasing how much the government owns and how much control they might have.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sports betting, skilled base or luck base? on: April 13, 2025, 09:17:59 AM
My personal take on this one is that sports betting is that it’s skill-based...

I think if I just work on my skills, I can turn a profit eventually, yep, "eventually" is the trick word here. But after more than five years of sports betting, I'm still not making money. Now I'm wondering: is sports betting really about skill, or is it just luck? If it's about skill, maybe I just haven't got what it takes, and I'm just riding on luck.

What do you think about this topic?

Based on your experience, is it primarily luck, or do you still believe it’s skill-based, even if you haven't proven yourself yet?
Personally, I think it's both luck and skill. They both play crucial roles in your bets and also work hand in hand.  Developing your gambling skill is good but to some extent your experience would still determine how you will place your bets to give you a better chance of winning. If you still aren't lucky, no matter how good you might have arranged your games to be, you will still end up losing. sometimes when you watch sport, you hope that they win and then very close to the end of the game your bet gets ruin. That just because you were unlucky, at that point, your skill isn't going to help.
