I'm sorry but these comments are generally not helpful and are also uninformed.

In reality we call these things network upgrades.

Monero is providing (as usual) a fairly valuable testbed for the entire crypto space in doing what we are doing here.

These forks are specifically aimed at ASIC resistance which is a hotly debated topic across the crypto space.  Personally I am in favor of selecting a commoditizable algorithm (such as SHA-3) but since the community is valuing trying one more shot at ASIC resistance then I will go along with them.

This fork has nothing to do with creating a new coin, or anything like that.  There are certainly arguments that can be made for and against this approach, but there are not currently being made above.

I suggest brushing up on the topic.  The github, or reddit are good places to learn about what we are doing and why.

Monero will have a hard fork soon, but something the price does not want to grow, the cue ball spoiled all plans. Who thinks that after a hard fork, Monero will show good growth or will the cue ball dictate their rules of the game?  Sad

Masterluc, is that you?

But I do not think the hard fork will have much impact on Monero price.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2019, 05:32:58 PM
Iím skeptical of that because you only have one touch on your long-term support for the two years prior to 2019. Thus until the bottom formed in late 2018, there was no support line. I had also considered that along with @masterlucís longstanding expectation for $6.?k by early December 2019.

Support lines drift over time from their original anchor points.   Its like the tides man.  Tides go in, tides go out.  You can't explain that.

Finally we are talking about the moon again.  If we can get a train, and a Spartan we might just pull through this mess...  Also a banjo?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy

What happens when if it goes below that bottom line?

Feary teary lemon dreary?

So what's all this talk about monero.org being hacked and some malware being downloaded from the site?  How does something like this happen to one of the biggest crypto projects in the space?

I just read about it. Apparently for 35 minutes download links on getmonero.org for new CLI were changed. https://np.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/dyfozs/security_warning_cli_binaries_available_on/

Locks are for honest people. They all can be broken. What is nice to see is that it was noticed in 35 minutes.

perhaps someone can automate a test from now on so it can be constantly checked

It is also possible to use cryptography to accomplish this goal.

Interesting privacy sector news...  What do you guys make of it?  (I wish people would stop quoting Vitalik though)

Interesting news in the privacy sector.  However, I kinda wish VB would fall off a freaking cliff..  I am tired of that clown.

Not that BTC needs any reason to dip but this is as good as any.

Mimblewimbleís privacy is fundamentally flawed. Using only $60/week of AWS spend, I was able to uncover the exact addresses of senders and recipients for 96% Grin transactions in real time.
The problem is inherent to Mimblewimble, and I donít believe thereís a way to fix it. This means Mimblewimble should no longer be considered a viable alternative to Zcash or Monero when it comes to privacy.

TL no link clicky, Mimblewimble is supposedly dead  Cry

Well first of all I own NO Grin or other MW coin.  The only alt i DO own in any sigificance is Monero, so there's the disclaimer...

But how many times have we heard about a cryptocurrency being toast?  I tend to take these things with a grain of salt.  On the other hand MW is a very experimental tech, and we should not be suprised when this sort of thing fails.

But why would this relative unknown coin be a reason for BTC to dip?

(one more thing...  I am always amazed anyone would give any creedence to Zcash at all... the founders reward is reason #1 to shun it, and opt in privacy is not really privacy).

Normally I feel no need to issue a "no homo" disclaimer...  but this card got me right, and maybe I should!

Getting too close to $8.2k. Don't like this at all. We're all being fucked with ahead of the halvening. I can't imagine trying to trade in this fucking environment.

Sheeeeeit. HODL.

Gawd, bob.  You are so full of drama.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 15, 2019, 12:31:10 AM
Unfortunately the volume is really low.  So I think this represents a lack of selling pressure more than anything else.  Miners are starting to hold XMR more.  I find it interesting that hashrate has been SO insanely stable since the last hard fork.

It clobbered the first area of resistance at .007-.0073.  And it has parked at around the second area of .0075.  The are i am looking at is ! .00775  If we are able to push decisively above that I am not sure there is a lot of technical resistance above it to even .01.

I just made all that crap up and typed it in here.  I have NO idea what I am talking about. Smiley  But I still wonder what is going to happen?!?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 11, 2019, 02:36:34 PM
Let's stop forking the hashing algorithm after RandomX (which will fail to achieve the stated goal, like every other attempt) and embrace specialized mining. Enough time has been lost.

I am pretty sure that is explicitly the plan, if you are right.  I believe Ricardo Spagni agrees with you on this and wanted to just do SHA3.  But the community went with one more shot at ASIC resistance.  But I think the plan is if this does not achieve it then we are going to stop trying.

At LFC
Is it the scrabble shIeeeet or the other sheeeeIt what is counting as the real bobís sh......t??
The "i"'s are never capitalized when properly writing out variations of "sheeeit". Only simpletons and democrats capitalize anything after the S.
Hahaha lol it was just to point out the place of that particular letter in the word Smiley

OH ! I get it now. I "i" goes after the "e". Always. An "i" must immediately precede the final "t"

And it's accurate to say the number of 'e's is proportionate to the severity of the emotion expressed?

What are you laughing at?  They are a well rounded organization who is recognized globally.  You would be lucky to be included in their sphere... in fact I think if you went to the conference you'd have a ball.

(actually if you did I would come save you from it and find the best place in Big D to get you a White Russian... Wink )

Base on the priore low we touch, the violence in the chart can explain the move today on the BULL TRAP. Its again a good tiem to sale all BTC in remaineing portfolio until again it reach low of 2-3k per Bitcoin.

Keep it up.  You're doing great!

Impressive green dildo !

I gotta admit I am imagining it being used - in it's entirety - on a bunch of smug shorts.
