21  Economy / Gambling / Re: What are your predictions for the Champions League winner? on: June 05, 2015, 12:21:25 PM
barcelona will win and will be the champion for five times champion league. neymar, messi, suarez who can stop them

Do you think Neymar Messi and Suarez will all score? I think it might be 3-1 so I'm tempted to put a bet on all three to score as well.
22  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-06-04] University Students Find Bitcoin Too Volatile To Use on: June 05, 2015, 12:15:30 PM
they should be able to get around the volatility by using BitPay or whatever service instantly converts BTC/CAD at point of sale.

That's all well and good for the merchant but the headline is students find it too volatile and I guess it can be. Imagine if you bought $100 worth of bitcoin and by the time you go to spend it it could be worth $85 which wouldn't be any good. Of course the opposite is also true but bitcoin has been going down rather than up lately and a currency that losses money is still an issue.
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: why we should all be bulls in the longer term on: May 19, 2015, 03:29:03 PM
The remittance market is a huge industry and would be massive if they adopted bitcoin on a widescale, but the question is will they? I'm a big believer in the potential of bitcoin and it would be a big benefit to the remittance market but my only concern is it'll just never catch on.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Does The CryptoWorld Needs Now? on: May 19, 2015, 03:17:39 PM
Users. It needs normal people using it. Not crazy anarchist/libertarian/end the fed nut jobs. They are here already and they are a very small group (example: the Free State Project started in 2001 and only needed 20k people to sign up. They haven't met their quota in 14 years of trying lol). Figure out a way for my neighbor to need/want to use Bitcoin when he runs down to Sears to buy a new lawnmower or a set of tires. Get fast food restaurants worldwide to give a discount for Bitcoin use. Get major oil companies to retrofit gas pumps to accept Bitcoin same as cash because credit cards sometimes cost more at the pump. Make people use it every day.

I agree, but I think the big question is why would your neighbor use it as sears? I think it's probably going to be seen as sort of a geeky underground currency for the foreseeable future, though I hope some big real world stores accept it so we've at least got some place to spend it as it doesn't cost them anything to deal with it.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When would be the moment you consider BTC's future is assured? on: May 10, 2015, 02:33:42 PM
I just want to be able to spend it so for me to be assured I would need to be able to walk down the high street or mall and be able to spend it in many shops. Doesn't have to be all of them but if they can accept credit cards which 99% seem to do then they can also accept bitcoin.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: May 10, 2015, 02:32:02 PM
Here's a great reason to stay out: an ever-falling price.
That one is indeed problematic. Five most recent quarters of decay.

It isn't ever falling. It's always moving up and down but its actually a little up from a few weeks ago. Hopefully the price will steady out at some point.
27  Other / Off-topic / Re: Last Movie you watch ? ( Daily thread ) on: April 22, 2015, 09:43:31 AM
I watched Transcendence last night. Most critics and people trashed it but I thought it was pretty solid with a unique story. Wasn't expecting the ending at all.

The Boy Next Door...

Boy that was hottt...

Hot in what way? Do you recommend it?
28  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just want to vent. on: April 22, 2015, 09:42:00 AM
What you did is use a classic martin gale. It does seem like a foolproof strategy to win at first but the longer you keep going eventually you will hit a massive losing streek. It's just math/odds. You need to know when to quit whilst ahead but it usually never works in the long run and you will lose at some point.

I have been messing around with some Dust coins across different dice games out there.

What's Dust coins?..

Just small amounts of bitcoins that you usually get from faucets etc.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone realize about this? three BIG banks in three different continents are ... on: April 07, 2015, 11:01:04 AM
It's unfortunate so many bitcoiners are delusional to this "decentralized" hype. 99.999% of people don't get a pile of elephant feces about decentralization. No one cares. As far as they're concerned, big banks are a lot more trustworthy than some anarchist internet nerds.

Do you really think that people will one day wake up and realize how glorious decentralization is and how it will solve all of the world's problems? Please.

If bitcoiners actually thought about things from an objective and realistic perspective, and took steps to ensure bitcoins success, I think bitcoin has a good chance. But if everyone is so delusional, then bank or government crypto is going to completely overtake bitcoin, and bitcoin will either die or just used by a few anarchist/libertarians.

I don't think bitcoins are 'delusional to "decentralized" hype'. Sure it is a benefit to most here but that's not the only selling point. I think you have to admit it really has the potential at least to shake up the current banking system or payment processors. There's also a multitude of uses for it as an alternative currency and remittance tool.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did you first hear about Bitcoin? on: April 07, 2015, 10:58:05 AM
I can't remember the exact time but I think it was early 2014 with all the news coverage about Silk Road. That definitely caught my attention and I was hooked since then though I didn't buy my first coins until a few months after. I was doing some research on bitcoin and the best ways to buy.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy from the UK anonymously on: March 24, 2015, 08:43:30 AM
If you want the transaction to be truly anoympus you'll have to find someone who will sell you bitcoins for cash face to face and ask no questions. You can check local bitcoins to see if there's any in your area or even ask on free ad sites or the currency exchange on this forum. Just state where you live and stipulate you want to do cash in hand transaction. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone in the UK who will do this.
32  Other / Off-topic / Re: Opinions on Investing in Gold and Silver on: March 24, 2015, 08:40:22 AM
I was a big fan of gold before I discovered bitcoin. I think there's more potential for profit in the short term and it's far better as a currency. Gold may have more value as a long term investment though as bitcoin may come and go as fast as it arrived but gold will always be around and have intrinsic worth.

At least you wont lose your gold to scammers if you stash it in a box somewhere..

Not really. If your house gets burgled and it's discovered you'll never see it again just like bitcoins. At least with bitcoins you can see where your coins went on the blockchain.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fair Price of Bitcoin: $518? on: March 10, 2015, 11:53:02 AM
The 'fair' price of bitcoin is relevant to its current use. $518 may be fair but it could be much more or much less depending on demand and that is what's key. We need more people owning and transacting with it for the value to inflate.
34  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: March 10, 2015, 11:47:57 AM
i think bitcoin is still a long way from being the global currency

Well I think it is already a global currency as you can move it around the world and across borders instantly, but what we need for it to truly become a global currency is merchants accepting it all around the world. It would be so cool if this happened.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the real value of bitcoin or altcoins on: February 19, 2015, 03:32:26 PM
What's the real value of bitcoin or altcoins? Is there anything we can't do it without bitcoin/altcoins?

What do you mean real value? Like the price they are worth or what we pay for them, or their actual usefullness? I think the real fiat value has yet to be determined and will take some time to arrive at that point, but as for bitcoins true value it has many uses by many industries such as the remittance market and just saving businesses money on credit card fees.

the remittance market is the only case which I can see but comparing with credit card, it's not user friendly and insecure

What's not user friendly or secure? Bitcoin is pretty easy to use and blockchain.info isn't much different than using PayPal.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin only Businesses that reject all fiat on: February 19, 2015, 03:30:03 PM
https://cryptothrift.com/

Cryptothrift is an ebay-style market. It accepts just BTC and LTC.
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: FAKE news: "3 billion HKD lost" in Mycoin.hk bitcoin exchange runoff on: February 09, 2015, 05:07:41 PM
I suspected it was some kind of FAKE news. Or at least misinformed one

If it were totally true  prices would be sub 150 by now

The amount is seemingly based on figures that the site gave out which were obviously bullshit. It would be interesting to see how much they actually took in though.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: How will a Greek exit from the Euro affect BTC? on: February 09, 2015, 05:04:49 PM
Will we see any major price changes because of it?

I don't think it will effect bitcoin in the slightest, unless the Greeks start putting their money into it. Bitcoin could see a surge in countries that are going through economic woes though.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm loosing interest in bitcoin on: February 02, 2015, 11:34:58 AM
How can you lose interest? I know things can get a bit boring at certain times but there's always going to be excitement coming at some point. I suppose your level of interest in bitcoin depends on what you want out of it, though.

Most of the news show positive info, but the price show negative info

This is disappointing but I'm sure it wont always be like this and the opposite will happen eventually.
40  Other / Off-topic / Re: $1000 Skateboard on: January 08, 2015, 06:23:06 PM
way to much

What about this Hendo Hoverboards

These things will just be a fad... and an expensive one at that. You might as well just skatebaord instead. These things look very difficult to master and there's even a video of Tony Hawk trying it out and not doing a good job of it. I'll wait for real Back to the Future hoverboards.
