1  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: Today at 02:49:33 AM
Risk is when a person is exposing him/her self to dangers, possibility of incurring loss or misfortune
So many people run away from business opportunities just because they fear they will run into loose and didn't want to take such risk
I have come to the realization that the word risk is part of life and that it is better you take part in it than not
From history it has been said that the great entrepreneur and business men/woman where all risk takers when you take risk you throw your self to the real of possibilities
Risk is very vast in scope and it is seen in every aspect of human endeavour, risk at the name implies is a chance loss, a combination of hazard and the possibility of unfavourable events occurring . In life risk is inevitable especially when it comes to business and investment . There are possible  measures to take to take and control its impact in our life because there’s virtually no business that exist without risk and that’s how we should look at the control measures and take it very carefully and threat it with utmost importance.

There are so many benefits of risk taking , such as bringing you closer to good opportunities, creating forum for you to exploit more opportunities, it makes you gain access to higher investment chances , however avoidance is not the best way to manage risk because it will limit you from several opportunities. And note that  in business the higher the risk , the more the outcome and that is to say that for someone to grow in business he or she has to take reasonable risks and there is no business that survive without risk .
2  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are most scammers from Nigeria? on: Today at 02:14:32 AM
So, I have heard many scammers are from Nigeria.

I am not trying to justify anything or anyone but when look deep in to insight, if Nigeria has the most scammer then the first thing to be looked at is the economy. Nigeria as a country has silently pasted “ your survival is your business” as their motto, no one really cares not even the government.

If you are not rich you cannot start a new business, if you don’t have the best connection you cannot get a good job in a big company. If you are not rich you cannot go the a good average school, if you are not rich you cannot study the course of you choice.. you most go for the best affordable course, if you are not rich you cannot dress properly, if you are not rich you cannot eat properly even chicken is no longer a regular man food cause it is expensive, if you are not rich you cannot think of owning a car or even renting one plus public bus is a topic for another day.

The reality of Nigeria is only the rich can survive.

In a country like this how and why won’t there be scammers even the government are frauds too they are only focused of getting all the money they can to preserve it for their generations. The hardship here is different.

There are no jobs, getting a loan is almost impossible if you don’t have a reliable source of income or any property to mortgage, many are dropout, many are graduates with out job, many did not even smell the coners of school, many cannot afford medical bills , many are starving and everybody wants to survive. So i wouldn’t say they are looking for quick money instead I would say they are all trying to survive.
Op this is the notion that most countries have about Nigerians , and when you look at critical there is no country in the world that you will not have one Nigerian in that country , Nigeria is quite a blessed country with so many mineral resources and natural vegetations but the wicked leaders do not really want the country to grow beyond her current stage .no doubt nigeria has so many scammers but this idea of fraud was instituted as a result of bad governance, lack of unemployment by graduate youths and most youths took it upon themselves to earn a living .
Because if the Nigeria economy is good and the government has the interest of her citizens at heart I don’t really think that someone will think about internet fraud or any form of scam .but Nigeria government don’t care instead they steal from the budget that are meant to cater for the citizens especially the youths .
3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: All people Should have the right to own Guns in our Society on: Today at 02:00:44 AM
The fear of rising crime in our society is no joke and can't be ignored. This is why All people should have the rights to own Guns.

One can protect oneself, one's family and not bend down to anybody.

Possession of firearms often reduces home robberies and assaultive crimes like rape both by family members and strangers.

They are excellent tools for protection and self- defense.

Agree or Disagree

https://secondamendmentcenter.org/people-should-have-the-right-to-own-guns/
Op sincerely I don’t support this ideas of people having guns in their homes because it will increase the crime in the society . Possession of firearms by unauthorised persons does more harm than good and can lead to turmoil and constant killing of innocent citizens . I don’t really know your country maybe This might work well in your country but in my country I will not advice any government to allow everyone to have access to firearms because it will surely lead to disaster .Most times politicians will give out gun during an
election to political tugs and after election the innocent citizens will be in danger because of constant violence, robbery and vandalism, however ,Op I totally disagree with this your idea.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Inflation Necessary on: May 13, 2024, 04:41:32 AM
The bitcointalk forum is comprised of diverse people from all over the world. Our countries' must have gone through inflation as a nation at least once or more since its history. As a refresher, inflation happens when the prices of goods and services rise and people can no longer afford those items because the country's money almost becomes useless. But is inflation needed? Why can't we just keep the currency at the same value? And why does it only happen to money? For example, the same wouldn't happen if we used gold as a currency instead. Is inflation a ploy that the government uses so people don't get rich off of savings?
just like you earlier stated that inflation occurs when the price of goods and services are high people cannot be able to afford their needs, inflation occurs as a result of economic crunch, when there is economic crisis which the rapid of good and services. it usually affects money because money is legal tender and inflation usually anything that is used as a medium of exchange because people solely depend on the legal tender in other to meet their desired needs in terms of buying and selling of goods and services. note that inflation is driven by too much demand relatively to supply. when the prices of goods and services increases rapidly thereby making it very unable for people to meet their needs.

For me inflation is not necessary, but it depends on the government policy because every ruling government has their reasons for inflation, maybe because of subsidy removal, increase or decrease in the oil demands and many more other reasons that they can give. inflation actually cause more harm than good to the poor masses .

7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I hope I'm doing the right thing. on: May 13, 2024, 02:45:21 AM
How did you guys invest in bitcoin as beginners. What was your experience with the market volatility? A lot of people talk how investing in Bitcoin is good but risky, i don't want to rush to invest  bitcoin. I need to be very sure of what I'm planning to go into. I don't know if I am making the right decision or I'm too sluggish to invest. I'm not really convinced maybe because I don't know much. Do you think this delay is good for me? I believe it is good for one to be  sure and understand anything that involves money.
Bringing this investment idea here shows that you really want to learn, and you did not want to make a wrong investment decision, investing is bitcoin is a good decision and one best decision you have taken so far OP, Bitcoin investment is good and can help you in the future, but it is also risky because of its volatility. Bitcoin investment brings high returns in the future depending on the nature of price actions and market fluctuations, however, please take you time and absorb every information that will you gather here and filter it before use because bitcoin investment is prone to susceptibility of high price volatility and there is no check backs or refunds.

Bitcoin investments need time, patience and endurance to succeed and if you know that you cannot endure for a long time kindly use the money for another thing other than bitcoin. the outcome will surprise you if only you can endure and just know that it is a nice thing to invest in bitcoin because it actually a nice investment.

Lastly, note that bitcoin is a risky investment with high volatility and should be considered if you have a high-risk tolerance and in a strong financial position and can afford to lose any amount you invest. and also, its high liquidity makes it a potentially investment vessel for short term profit.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How active can a newbie be daily? on: May 13, 2024, 01:17:46 AM
I greet you all
You know when you come to a forum like this you need to first know the do's and the don'ts, the rules and regulations, and most especially how to grow, in life we all want growth to some certain extent the same thing applies to this forum, I ask most of my friends here how can a newbie grow on this forum, they all keep saying, if you want to grow you need to be active on the forum,

My question is what does it mean to be active on the forum,
How many quality Posts can someone make daily before he or she can be considered active on this forum, sorry I ask a lot of questions so u can learn too.

Op that is a good question and note that it is not all about the number of posts you make daily but the quality of the content, people can make as many post as they could without meaningfully passing a reasonable information. don't look at the quantity of the post you can make a day rather look at the quality of the post because that will help you to grow easily and learn faster, in other way round being active will also help you a lot, in this case being active will give you the opportunity to explore the forum and know how the senior members make a good post and learn from them. being active will also make you to understand how the forum works because it makes you to note some necessary areas to contribute, the reasons to contribute because you are not expected to post in every thread here as a newbie.

I am quite sure that you know that we have different ranks here in the forum, and each of those ranks need a required number of merits to attain , and you can only earn merits with a quality post and not by a the number of post, and you can only make post when you are active and not when you are inactive, and that is the reason why you are asked to be active on the forum in other to grow. because there is no rapid growth here, growth here is a gradual process, and one can only achieve that by consistency and constantly staying in the forum to learn.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: May 13, 2024, 12:52:03 AM
Hi,

There are always things that we are passionate about doing, such as video games, football, basketball, and sports in general, meaning that everyone has something that excites them and makes them want to do.
Like others, I get very excited when I sit down, take my phone, and start my bets. This does not mean that I am addicted, but rather I find it more comfortable and I have more fun.

Does gambling excites you? What motivates you, winning or just the fun in it ?
I don't really know how to answer this question, i only feel excited in gambling only when my predictions are going on well as predicted, only when i win money. gambling can be frustrating sometimes, i am so surprise to see people talk good about gambling that they are always happy each time they are gambling, sincerely speaking i will like to be like them because most times i will be angry at myself for getting involved in gambling as a result of loss. my excitement only comes when my betting slip shines green and that's the only way that i can be happy while gambling. in addition, outside that i can also be happy if am involved in traditional gambling method with friends and when nothing is staked except giving ourselves task to while away time.

Excitement in gambling depends on the category of individuals involved, so people get excited once they visit any casino house or betting shops and they feel relaxed and happy as if they are not losing money probably because their major reasons are to entertain themselves and have fun but my major target is to make money so i only get excited whenever i win money or when my predictions are accurate.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it? on: May 12, 2024, 11:59:03 PM
Hi everyone,

Gambling has become very popular in the world , especially after the changes that have occurred over the years with modern technology and the abundance of games, we can now gamble with one push    anywhere and anytime . More money is flowing to sites and casinos in huge quantities, and everyone’s goal is to win more ,As is always known, if there is a loser, there is a winner, and I don't think that the percentage of losers is greater than the winners .

Is this true gambling is not place to make money is place to lose it?
Gambling is a place to make money and to lose it also, in gambling two things are involved, which is either you lose or win, and there is one thing that is paramount here, no one has won much in gambling without a loss, but it takes only the wise ones to understand how to control and manage their emotions so as not to lose more. there are people who are virtually making money every time in gambling through visual games and cash out and this category of people will never believe that gambling is not a place to make money. In addition, loss is not inevitable here in gambling because anything that involves risk must possess an attribute of loss, but being positive minded and constant trials will make you make money irrespective of the series of losses that you might encounter at the long run.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do people truly risk their money on bets for profit? on: May 12, 2024, 11:47:32 PM
I came across a recent topic where the op was saying over 80% of gamblers gamble to make money and I had to have a dip thought on that and was curious as to know if there are possibilities that people gamble just for the sake of answering the name gambler?
Nearly eighty percentage of the gamblers are doing gambling for the money making.
From my opinion, I think there isn’t any need to stake or risk one’s money on a game simply because you want to catch fun when you could simply not risk your money and still have fun while watching same game.
I don’t know if I’m really staying my points well but I wish to know if people really have to gamble without intentions of making money?
Op i don't really know how far people will understand this but the truth is that more than 80% of people risk their money for the sake of profit, there is saying that the sole aim of every businessman is to make profit which gambling is not an exception because in gambling we stake something of value to gain something. it is quite obvious that some people are presumed to gamble for fun, but the truth is that gambling is not a comic relief section where you will pay money to be attained, so any person that stakes money in gambling does it for the sake of profit. because i have never seen someone that has won a game and possibly left the winning amount for the betting shop or casino house because he staked the game just to have fun. so we take risk to double whatever we stake and make profit so i believe that people risk their money on bets for profit.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: May 12, 2024, 11:38:04 PM
I was in argument with someone. His view is that people who gamble are those that what they have is not sufficient for them and so they try to make more money from gambling. He said if you have sufficient money to take care of your needs that you won't think of gambling. He made reference to some rich people, who don't gamble because they have sufficient money to even gift to charity but that those rich who still gamble are only addicted to it not just because of the money. Therefore, that the percentage of the rich gambling is very small compared to those in middle class and lower class.

So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?
gambling is not categorized for either those with sufficient money and those without sufficient funds, gambling is a game of luck that can Favour everyone both the rich, poor those with sufficient funds and those without sufficient funds. ordinarily i did not gamble because i did not have sufficient funds, i gamble most times to know if luck will shine on me. gambling is not certain and if you have the mindset that gambling will be the only measure to get money, i will be sorry to tell you sorry  because you might end up losing the ones you have. most people gamble for fun especially those with sufficient money because they will stake huge amount of money for either to entertain themselves or double the money. we cannot measure the percentage of the classes of people who gamble it all depends on your location because sometimes in some areas the poor will gamble more and other areas the middle class and the rich class as well, so we can't say for sure the class of people that gamble more because it depends on individual mindset.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? on: May 12, 2024, 09:04:08 PM
I've a friend of mine who always complain that ever since he started gambling he haven't won a good amount, instead he'll be winning less money than what he expected but he can't stop. So I'm asking what do you suggest he should do at this case. For me I told him that he should know that gambling it's a game of risk and luck, but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.
There is this saying that states that nothing good comes easy , people will lose in gambling and still go ahead to gamble because of the following :
1. Gambling is a game of luck
2. There are chances of them recovering their lost money
3.There is possibillity Of the Person turning To a milllionaire with his last bets And many more other reasons

No one has Ever become successful that much without a little bit of failure , they wil lose money from time To time But continous trial can make them meet their luck one day. In gambling when you give up you lose all And when you try over time you can recover your  lost funds . And So many people have their reasons of not giving up which invariably depends on the Choice of the gambler .
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between females and males, who are more resistant to gambling losses?  on: May 12, 2024, 08:54:05 PM
Yes, you read right as the topic stated. Also, which gender do you think can easily give up on gambling?

Which gender will get worse when they are addicted to gambling?

Or do you think it's the same thing for every gender that is into gambling?

I was just having a little chat on the other thread when I read a member's comment who says that women are better gamblers, which I really disagree with. I believe that men are the better gamblers here. With all my thoughts running through my mind, I just decided to create this topic to get your view on it.

Although some woman are strong but majority of the woman population have weak emotions and that is why I feel they will easily give up on gambling because they hate to continually loss and the second point is that since women have weak emotions, they can easily get addicted to gambling and can often practice revengeful gambling.

What is your view?
Naturally females are weak in nature and they re always prone to giving up especially when it comes to losses and something that can affect their emotions . Your question is quite nice but for me I will rather say that men will find it very Hard to give up because they like to try over time again and again even when they are losing to know if miracle will happen to cover up their losses .

I was reading through an article and I came across something like ,And theLady Was complaining that she will never try To gamble again as a result of series of losses But men will not give up like that irrespective of the amount they have lost already or the amount that they are losing they will keep trying And with some motivational words To keep themeselves strong . Ordinarily men Dont give up like women because most of them survive in the hard way And even there is no chance of them winning they will also try as much as possible To Create an opportunity To win And cover up their losses .
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: May 12, 2024, 02:04:36 AM
Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?
Op your question is actually funny, Gambling is not a full-time job and there is no certainty on the amount of money that you will retire with as a gambler, the truth is that there are variations when it comes to gambling people can win big and decide to retire from gambling and people can also win big and decide not to stop from gambling. but the fact in all of this is that there is no specific amount that someone can retire with as a gambler. we can only project a potential retirement benefit in full time jobs and not in gambling because there are virtually so many risks to consider in gambling because there is no certainty when it comes to gambling. lastly i have never seen anyone who has retired with a gambling winning and i pray to see one someday, i think with these few contributions and so many other contributions that other forum members will make, you will be cleared of your nebulousness that no one has ever retired with gambling winning unless the person chose to stop gambling in life.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: May 12, 2024, 01:47:01 AM
If suddenly you went on a binge-gambling out of a lack of self-control or something else. For example, you deposit money in rapid succession after a series of losses and the casino management freezes your account. And when you call their customer support, they tell you that your account has been frozen for 3 weeks and the reason why they carried out that measure was because they suspected that you were gambling irresponsibly and decided to take that measure so that you can call yourself back to order, will you feel furious, cuss out, sign out of your account and register on another casino and continue betting. Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling or betting addiction?
Op sincerely speaking freezing a customer's account can curb irresponsible and gambling addiction because it will help to limit the persons constant activity when it comes to betting excessively and spending carelessly on gambling. This is actually rare because casinos cannot intentionally freeze your account unless your actions or behavior contravenes their rules and regulations before they will deem it necessary to ban your account.  but if by chance the casino house ban or lock your acount for some weeks or months it will virtually increase your chances of not becoming an addict and aslo make you to have less interest in gambling and will make you to have self control and self moderated.

Addiction can be curbed in so many ways including banning or locking of accounts as you mentioned earlier but, in most cases, pure addicts don't care if their accounts are banned or locked because they must surely device another means to gamble which including borrowing money, going to another casino house and many more other measures, however, it takes the grace of God and total abstinence for an addict to change .
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shared games helped you before? on: May 12, 2024, 01:18:03 AM
Just as the title said I won't be consuming much of your time this evening and is just something I will like us to have a cool discussion, last year which is about months ago and there (is) was a friend of mine who is dawn routed in games prediction and has no money to be placing much bet on those game, so what he always does is call me and asked me to staked whatever amount I am pleased to stake with maybe if I win I should send whatever my mind tells me to do. Although he didn't request any specific percentage if the game plays since he fully understood the terms of gambling just as we all says that gambling is a luck base game or chance base game which you and I can't detects what the outcome would be.

Okay, I started developing interest by staking some of his games he do shared about 4 to 8 consecutive time I keep trying his games but didn't work out, like no winning has been made and he kept saying I should try last more. It was then I got weird over his failing games and stopped after that day he called me and said someone won about NGN 60,000,000 which about $50,000 with a bet of $2. Some times I began to wonder whether is my fault for not keep following him or what maybe who know what could have happened if that kept having patient to play his predicted games.

Just say let me bring this here to see how many of you have been in such situation where you have been trying for long and the day you decided not to try luck the winning will come just like a magic. Have you experience that before?
For the fact that a game shared by someone might play or that the predictions pose a chance of winning does not really mean that you will depend on a shared game. just like we all know gambling is a game of chance and luck the game shared might Favour one person one day does not really mean that it is going to Favour all. sometimes shared games can turn you to addict because each time a game is shared you would like to part of those that will play and if unfortunately, you did not have money to play the game and others played and won, you will sincerely turn to addict because you will continue trying all the time.

I have once benefited from shared game though i did not stake with higher amount as a result of fear but at the end of the whole thing i won the game, but even at that i did not consider believing on a shared game. considering your question if shared games have helped me? i will sincerely say yes because i have benefited though not huge amount. i have also seen people who visit betting shops depending to get information on shared games before they will place their bets and they so much believe on the shared games. lastly just like you asked i have benefited from shared games but i don't trust shared games because it is 50/50% and risky as well and should not been given full attention.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: May 12, 2024, 12:59:43 AM
Governments and several organisations work to encourage responsible gaming. This involves establishing betting restrictions, offering support to those who think they have a gambling problem, and participating in self-exclusion programmes.
I sincerely do not understand the point you are trying to make but from every indication you just gave us the conclusion of what you have in mind. government as the name implies, does not work well in my country and i don't really know your country where government supports gaming. But here in my country they have a lot of responsibilities which they have failed to meet, the have a lot of unfulfilled promises which they have not fulfilled even one other than to support. they have not even provided us with one basic needs, like basic social amenities, like water, electricity, good roads and job employment. my own government is so corrupt that they the masses are suffering every day and the level of economic has drastically increased beyond measures.

so, i doubt with utmost trust that in my country, no government or any organization will pay attention to responsible gaming o to thinking of solving gambling problems, gambling is a private affair and should learn how to support yourself and not to hope on government for any kind of help or support, so let's face the reality and tell ourselves the truth. that government can never pay attention to gambling unless it generates revenue for the politicians. or that they see it as another measure to steal funds.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What contributes to a casual gambler becoming an addicted gambler? on: May 12, 2024, 12:40:24 AM
I was wondering what makes someone transition from a casual gambler to a gambling addict. Here are six reasons I've identified.

  • To find an alternative full-time earning source
  • Chasing Losses
  • Lack of Alternative Income earning opportunities
  • Using Gambling as an Excuse for Personal/Profesional Problems
  • lDream of Winning Big
  • An excuse
  • Setteling ongoing debt

If you have anything else then do write it down on this thread. This thread is only to help anyone who is into daily gambling realize the incident that led to compulsive gambling or everyday gambling.

This is a self-moderated thread that means if anyone here wants to vent out his or her frustration then they are welcome.

Let's hear it so that everyone knows.

most casual gamblers turn to addicted gamblers because of series of the own personal reasons that a best known to them but from own perspective they turn addicts because of selfishness, envy, greed, lack of funds just like you cited earlier. when i was trying to involve myself in gambling in my school days when i often follow my friends to visit a betting shop. i saw one guy who usually visit from time to time to gamble so i asked why he always coming here to gamble all the time, the answer that i got from him shocked me, he told me that he saw one his classmate that won huge AMOUNT of money and his life changed for good and that he is going to continue trying till he wins big. At that point i as so amazed because i can't imagine myself visiting betting shop just to win big like my fellow human being. There is grace in all we do, and gambling is not an exception to that believe and that gambling is a game of chance and luck, and we should not imitate others because we must definitely turn to addicts because for the fact that it favored Mr. A does not really mean that it is going to Favour Mr. B. so let's try as much as possible eliminate greed and selfishness to avoid turning to gambling addicts.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: May 12, 2024, 12:23:12 AM
Let me start by asking a question that is not very much different from the topic..

In your entire gambling journey, have you ever had a series of losses to the extent you hated yourself so much for being so unlucky?

I was going through reddit in the early hours of today, and came across a user who lamented bitterly through his post, of how unlucky he has been in gambling in the past few weeks, like almost a month now, he said he bets minimum, twice every day, but have not won a dime for the past weeks, and this made him hate himself so much, I sincerely felt pity for him, for I remember one time I lost a huge sum of money to betting, I felt so bad that I thought of killing myself  Grin.

So, let's share our worst gambling experiences, have you ever hated yourself so much due to lack of winnings in gambling? To what extent, and how did it end?

Do you still hate yourself even now?  Grin

Lets discuss.
Obviously i will not deny that i have hated myself and have also seriously blamed myself for getting involved in gambling at the first place as a result of series of losses. there is this notion that i had about gambling loss, each time a lose i usually see it is an opportunity to employ another strategy to make a difference but there is one certain period that i lost almost all the money in my online wallet and i was so infuriated that i blamed myself badly for even having a gambling account. within that time i hated everyone around me and everything that relates to gambling because i was so depressed considering the amount a lost and the time i have invested to build that online wallet.

No one has ever admired loss or welcome loss as part of him or her though we cannot avoid loss  but it pains a lot when it turns out to be a recurring activity because you will regret ever getting involved in such kind of lifestyle, sometimes i asked myself where is the fun in gambling when we lose, a thing of value, we feel pains, sometimes depressed and yet people will come out and tell me that the essence of gambling is for fun.
