2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2025/26 on: October 30, 2025, 04:03:56 PM
So in the recent happenings concerning the el Classico and the Lamine Yamal drama, I read on Socials (Facebook precisely) that Barcelona and Jorge Mendes are working together to protect Lamine Yamal’s privacy and stop leaks about his personal life. They want him to focus exclusively on football.
I think this is a good move, it’s imperative that they take control of the young man does before it gets worse.
They are taking this action a little bit late. This is what should have been done since. I know he is still a child, but he should start to not see himself as one. Messi at his age knows how to talk to the press and answer some certain cunny questions from the press to date, but Lamine Yamal is very poor at doing that. He has a loud mouth and might kill his career if he doesn't learn to control it.

IMO, the fastest way to kill your career is by exposing everything about you to the media. This is not just about football only. As a public figure, you need to be very careful about the media. All the media wants to do is to jeopardize your career.

4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which can be more addicting? on: October 30, 2025, 03:54:27 PM
Those who gamble only a few times a year are not very interested in gambling, which is why they do not gamble frequently. They only enjoy gambling occasionally in their free time. But those who gamble regularly, no matter how small the amount they gamble, gambling becomes a daily task for them and they think of gambling as their daily work. Which becomes their profession. This is a very serious matter and if they continue to gamble regularly, they will not be able to give up gambling easily which will make them deeply addicted. So I think those who gamble regularly are a type of gambling addict because no one except the addicted gambler is encouraged to gamble regularly. Because everyone is responsible for their financial affairs but regular gamblers are not responsible for their financial affairs.

That is how gambling should be. It should be a thing we do for fun and in our free hours. Even if we are doing it for profit, it shouldn't be a thing that we hope for to cover up our expenses or take care of our family needs.

Gambling regularly is not actually a big deal. The big deal is, do they control their bankroll accurately? This is where the problem lies if they fail to use only their bankroll and not touch any other money meant for something else.

The last time I checked, gambling can never be a profession and will never be.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season on: October 30, 2025, 03:44:58 PM
The funny thing about the Liverpool vs Crystal Palace match in the Carabao Cup last night is that before the match started, Crystal Palace's head coach said that they were going to Anfield to beat Liverpool. I thought Arne Slot would be motivated by the statement of Crystal Palace head coach to knock out Crystal Palace from the Carabao Cup, but it seems Crystal Palace head coach knows the right tactics to use and beat Arne Slot and his men.

They actually posted on their official Twitter (X) handle. Showing off the consistent winning they had over Liverpool this season and last season in the FA Cup finals. To be honest, Crystal Palace made other clubs have so much confidence in going to Anfield. In the past, Anfield was a no-go area; any club going there must be very careful and too cautious if they want to win. Now it is a regular thing for any club. Arsne Slot has even made it more difficult for the Liverpool players to have confidence.
6  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EMPOWERMENT THROUGH EDUCATION. on: October 26, 2025, 01:18:52 AM
Education is a broad subject. It shouldn't be limited to only going to school, getting a skill, and many others that we think. Education spans across many things in life. There is a saying—that the level of knowledge a man has is how far he can go in life. For example, a pilot cannot be a pilot if he doesn't know how to. The same thing goes for doctors and other professions.

I am classifying education into two. First, the soft education and hard education. The skills and school learning can be said to be the hard education. While soft education is the one where we learn from what life brings to us. We shape our characters to suit the type of personality we want. I believe it is one of the highest forms of education we all need. Because no one can teach us that one, we all must learn it ourselves.
7  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: At What Point Can You Honestly Say You’ve Accumulated “Enough” Bitcoin . on: October 26, 2025, 01:02:20 AM
Let’s be real — everyone claims they’re stacking sats for the long term, but what does “enough” even mean anymore?
There is never a point where you have accumulated enough, and there is never a point at which you have never accumulated enough. At every point in time you need to have a sizable amount in your portfolio. Well, many folks don't understand what it means to have a sizable amount of Bitcoin in their portfolio.

The basic meaning is that. The Bitcoin in your portfolio should be an amount that, if you live for the number of years you plan to, would yield a reasonable profit for you. You can't say $50 or $10 is a sizeable amount. An ideal sizeable amount for me is at least $2k.

There is not any tempo that seems bad. If you have enough discretionary income to be aggressive, my dear, don't hesitate. If you don't have it, also do due diligence in accumulating it gradually. No rush.

9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Then vs Now on: October 13, 2025, 04:57:48 PM
As new technologies evolve, gambling has been made easier and more portable. Even if you are below 18 now, you can still be involved in it now because mobile phones now have privacy features that are capable of hiding such activities. As a matter of fact, gambling now is wildly acceptable in different parts of the world, unlike back then, when gambling was restricted in a larger number of countries.
And the feelings of being able to gamble at your free will is satisfying but also brings a realization that it's not what we used to think it was when we where smaller. right now the excitement has been reduced drastically; we will have to pass through a process of analysis and researches before making a decision
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does your excitement in gambling depend on bet size? on: October 13, 2025, 04:36:26 PM
Actually this is a gambling problem and also not healthy; it's just like taking more doses of drugs for your satisfaction. If gambling is considered a source of entertainment, then this feeling should not be in you; perhaps you're developing an addiction to it. Which should be corrected. Although maybe you have a whole different perspective, this is how this feeling of yours can be explained from my point of view. I, on the other hand, bet with a little amount, and I'm satisfied with it. Using a larger amount of money rather makes me emotional, and it's not good, so I appreciate my little wins. After all, it's for entertainment and fun; its purpose is fulfilled.

12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do gamblers have in common? on: October 13, 2025, 04:25:46 PM
In a normal state gambling is never meant to be prioritized; there are a lot more activities that surpass gambling. Except if one uses gambling as a source of income, then the case is different, but it is not healthy to make gambling your source of income. As a gambler, prioritizing life balance physically, mentally, and also spiritually should be a priority; the rest are just tools to have a better life.
Gambling can be placed in the group of recreational activities not to be focused on as a must-do activity; if not, it will certainly amount to addiction. As gamblers we should be responsible.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling For fun on: October 13, 2025, 04:21:42 PM
You can gamble for fun and at the same time gamble to make profit but the problem with a lot of gamblers is that they fail to apply risk management. If you are gambling for fun you can still end up Incurring lots of losses if you have no discipline, an example of this is someone that stakes on his favorite team to win just for entertainment but uses a huge amount of money, this is gambling for fun but it's still irresponsible gambling
That is why it is very important to keep stable emotions when gambling, either excited as a result of having fun or as a result of a winning game, or sad after losing. Emotional stability should be prioritized; if not, it can lead to impulsive betting, which does not always end up well. It's also responsible for wrong judgment, especially the emotions after losses. At that moment you are being tilted, and you tend to disrespect all your analysis and research and just enter emotional games, which end up in more losses. If one is too emotional (happy or sad), you should avoid playing at that moment until your emotions get stable.

15  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How many [btc]-addresses can be created for each seed phrase? on: May 01, 2025, 01:26:26 AM
I believe this question is more related to bitcoin technical aspects and I am asking this question in this section rather than in the section dedicated to hardware wallets.
Mnemonic algorithms like BIP-39 are essentially a Key Derivation Function[1] themselves (BIP39 uses PBKDF2 under the hood as well) and KDFs don't really have a limit on how many keys they can generate. You should be able to generate an unlimited number of them as long as you can change the inputs of the KDF and in case of BIP-39, you can do that since it takes 2 inputs: the mnemonic and the passphrase (the extended words).

On top of that you have the derivation path which has some limitations like the depth but by changing the index and the path itself you can generate virtually unlimited number of keys. That is: m/0, m/1, m/2, ... m/0/0, m/0/1, ..., m/0/2, ..., m/1/0, m/1/1, m/1/2, ..., m/0/0/0, m/0/0/1, ...

[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_derivation_function
I didn’t realize just how much the system can vary not just with the seed phrase itself, but also how many different directions you can go. This explains better to the OP why wallets can support so many accounts or addresses from a single seed.

Quick one though, in practice, do you think changing the passphrase is more secure than just relying on deep path branching? For example if someone brute-forces a seed, is a strong passphrase still a decent second line of security?

I feel if somene steals your seed phrase they cant access your wallets without the correct passphrase. It is like a second layer of protection.

18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2024/2025 on: April 13, 2025, 10:21:26 AM
Everton are one of the best team to create huge surprises results ever since David Moyes took over the club as the manager. I never expected Everton to be able to beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground stadium yesterday but they did it in an impressive way with a last minute goal scored by Abdoulaye Doucoure, it seems that Nottingham Forest are paying a huge price for losing the ball to the Everton player which led to a goal that costed them all 3 points.
As is stance now in the premier league Everton is the most strongest team that can never win easily when playing with the big teams in the premier league. However, if am not mistaking they have draw with all the teams in the premier league this season, yesterday I was very surprised about their performance against Nottingham forest, due to the fact that their were not enough time in the game again. but I was very shork to see that Everton end up in securing the three points.
Everton getting a draw with all the premier league don't mean they are the strongest. Every team have a pattern of play that makes them win, for now Everton team is not playing to win their patter is to get at least a draw in every game to keep them from going to relegation. This pattern requires them to defend aggressively for complete 90 minutes while seizing any counter opportunity or they win a corner kick.
19  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The risk in bitcoin is worth taking. on: April 13, 2025, 10:05:42 AM
The reason why I said the risk in bitcoin is worth taking is because, back then bitcoin started as an experimental digital currency, but now it has gradually and continuously improve in growth and transformed over time into global class asset that have attracted millions of investors because of it decentralized and transparent nature.
If we can recore back over the decade bitcoin has outperformed traditional assets like gold, stocks and bonds, making bitcoin the best and number one asset both in crypto space and in the traditional assets.
But If bitcoin is the best and still maintaining the number one asset both in crypto space and in the traditional assets why is people still referring to bitcoin as a high risk investment, (or is it because of it volatile nature) or what……?  I know bitcoin is not risk free you can either profit or loose but when you understand how bitcoin works and it nature you will be at the safer side.
I and my friends just had an arguement, they said anything called cryptocurrency including bitcoin is very risky and the Risk is not worth taking.

Of course, Bitcoin is not risk-free. But the risk we are talking about is now far away. So we can say that Bitcoin is currently risk-free. But ordinary people who do not know what the risk of Bitcoin is, they think that the price is low, therefore the risk of Bitcoin.

I want to tell them that the low price is not a risk of Bitcoin, but rather it is a feature of Bitcoin. If you look at the features of Bitcoin, you will see that the price is low and the price is high.
If you invest wrongly you will lose your investment. So many factors are needed to have a successful investment. Your decision matter, your financial level, strategy, risk tolerance, including other method for aggressive buying.

You are terrible in communicating things about bitcoin I just noticed. I am still confused up till now. What is the low price is not a risk but a feature of bitcoin? Please elaborate on this to clarify for understanding.
20  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Guide on how to invest in bitcoin and altcoins on: April 13, 2025, 08:37:36 AM
Try start with one first after you finish the other you fit start the second one. I go advice you to settle down with bitcoin you no really need to invest for any shitcoins for now because those coins Sabi drain person portfolio. You know say that one dem dey manipulate am well. But hard to see say dem manipulate bitcoin. Bitcoin na the only digital currency without manipulation. After you get enough bitcoin for account you go try invest small for altcoin but they careful.
