Probably the only thing that will keep bitcoin alive is the illegal side of things That "illegal side" is kind of what got BTC going, but that"illegal side" does NOT seem to be what is currently sustaining BTC prices in the upper $500s. Do you have statistics to show us? or a link(s)? Its just my opinion based on my observations in general, not something I can reference with statistics or a link.

Yes I think one day he will. But he will reveal something that will completely change everyones view on bitcoin!

I use it mostly for day trading, other than that it has no use to me How does it not have any use to you? are you using Bitcoin just to profit in fiat? if so you are doing it wrong and will probably lose out in the long run even if you do profit for a short while. Well if I'm going to buy something I'll do it in person for cash or in the shops with my cc, online with my cc also, and there's not that many things you can buy with btc, I can't pay my rent with it, can't buy my food with it and certainly can't pay my taxes with it! what else could I do other than gamble or day trade? Gambling I lose most of the time so I tend to stick to day trading as I have more control and tend to profit most of the time. So until btc becomes more widely accepted I really have no other use for it.

What I do is keep most of by bitcoin in cold storage and some in my hot wallet, when I run out of coins in the hot wallet I simply top it up with about 4-5 btc from cold storage

I would send it back to the sending address, simple as that, no holding onto it to "find" the guy who owns them. If I don't own them then I cannot keep them.

The price has remained pretty stable over the last few weeks though, maybe it will stay where it is for the time being

I'm in my fifties. I have no retirement. I am not an heir. I have gone all in with other industries and lost everything. I recovered, but I have never seen anything like Bitcoin. I fell in love immediately in March 2011. All of my savings have gone into Bitcoin since 2011 and I am "letting it ride". I'm selling my house and buying more bitcoins. You would be crazy not to. This isn't the 1929 stock market. This isn't MySpace. Bitcoin is a fundamentally new technology that was twenty years in development and has network effect. You can have your altcoins, but you trade them with Bitcoins, Baby!
Is selling the house to buy bitcoin not a tad bit risky? I mean where will you live?

Just curious, we are looking into opening a mining operation ( high scale ) but according to recent news the US just missed an EMP from the sun that would have put the US back in the 18th century. In other words it would have shorted out and melted anything electronic. At that point in time or if there was an EMP attack against the US what happens to Bitcoin? Does it immediately become worthless? You won't be able to do anything with them and if stored online they won't be retrievable as they will probably be erased when all hard drives are smoked.
I know this sounds like it can't happen but it very easily can.
Even if they are wiped back to "18th century", technology from other countries would help as well as the fact that we have all of the research on or offline which would be accessible from other countries But yet again part of the internet is hosted in the US so don't know what would happen when it comes to servers and such The internet is hosted all over the world, it is short for international network

I can't wait to see where this goes, and how they will try to enforce this regulation, if they succeed I can see other states following suit! But didn't california already pass regulatory laws??
