42  Economy / Services / Re: Bitspent on: April 20, 2013, 10:16:41 PM
https://bitspend.net is a far better service for a number of reasons:

1. Public identities and I can visit their office anytime in FL. (All I can tell about Bitsumo is their email is recr3ate@gmail.com and he states he lives in Switzerland) Do they even have a business license?).
2. The order page is secured with https...Bitsumo is not.
3. Offers anon buying so want a VPN? No problem.
4. Have been around longer and has a long list of excellent feedback. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitspend

looks like an interesting service, I've tried bitspend the other day and it seemed pretty good, order placed in minutes.

as to Bitsumo, I think he has great potential, he could probably serve Euro clients better. Also I like the fact he doesn't want liabilities (as with the VPN) makes the whole operation more secure.

keep up the good work

lol, fucking newbie

Great potential to do what that other companies aren't already doing far better?

Well they are so new there's no way to know but in theory it would seem at least faster for EU to EU although if it's one guy running an unlicensed business not sure what the potential for that is aside from risk of getting scammed hard.

Your last 2 statements are a joke. Not offering vpn services (first off tons of them take bitcoins so why use a cc?) has nothing to do with some guy being more secure than a licensed business who offices and names are public and they are open to the public.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see many businesses of this type around but so far there's only one licensed that I am aware of and I'm not trusting a nameless person in Europe THAT easily.

You must be a newbie to post about the "potential" of a business on it's thread with the first user who actually ordered was rejected and woefully slowly refunded...SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH POTENTIAL...to waste your time.

lol,

1) look how long I've been on the forum and look how long you have been on the forum
2) I've probably made more money in this time than you in you life ;-)
3) Get a life

Simon's operation was closed due to "suspicion of fraud" not ml,

" Ladies and Gentlemen,

regarding your question, I would like to inform that due www.bitcoins-24.de not the Bremen authorities, but law enforcement authorities in Berlin are responsible for the facts in the investigation. The investigation on suspicion of fraud will be conducted at the StA Berlin under number 241 Js 380/13.

I ask relevant questions thus jurisdictional convenience to be sent to the local authority in Berlin. "

therefore there maybe still a chance for fraud charges to be dropped and maybe continue the operation, or just let everybody get their money out.

FUCKING DISASTER!!!!!! the only good is that at least the authorities are involved and not doing a pirate

I really don't agree with the way Simon is accused and threatened here.

I do understand you are worried about your funds. It's rightful to feel worried and concerned.

But accusing him of fraud and threatening with violence locking him up in a cage, without any evidence, I find repulsive!

To the one doing this, I feel angry with you.

It is absolutely immoral to threaten to initiate violence against him.

I would never offer any services to you, knowing that you have no problem initiating violence when I fail to deliver.

Even if it was true that he defrauded you of your money, it's still immoral to initiate violence.

Take responsibility for your own actions.

As you know the exchange is basically free and living from donations. Donations that are needed to pay for customer support, technical support and legal support for example.

Have you given any donations that can actually pay a bill or two?

I do want to thank you for your sharing of information and research. And again my sympathies to you and all the others with high stress and concerns you experience due to this.

About the bank account. From what I understand here it seems to be 2 accidents following up shortly. First the bank account being closed by authorities in Poland, which he did not announce before today (right?) but he did change bank account a few days ago to his personal one, which makes sense to me as he used also his personal account before he incorporated and openend an account in Poland. I would appreciate more info about why that government closed the account and if they seized the funds or were ok with releasing them.

+1 I agree but we should really get Simon to update if possible.

51  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund on: April 01, 2013, 09:11:59 PM
Patrick owes me 250 BTC, but I'd rather settle with with him honestly rather than going through a lawyer, I'm already burnt from bitcoinica that way.

Has anyone been able to contact him by email?

I see your point, but I think that we need somebody localy in NZ in order to track him down and speak with him, he's plainly disappeared and will probably be in hiding. I don't think he'll settle on his own accord if he isn't pressured correctly.

Whatever happens I think we should act as a community
52  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund on: April 01, 2013, 03:11:03 PM
Has anybody reported him here yet: http://www.police.govt.nz/service/financial Huh??

good place to start

53  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund on: April 01, 2013, 12:57:30 PM
who's up for pursuing action on this guy???
The same people pursuing legal action against pirate.

I think we should seperate both accounts,

I am willing to pursue Patrick as he owes me 300 BTC = $30,000. I am going to look for a lawyer in NZ. I think that now the value of BTC thast he owes us is pretty substancial in FIAT, so it's worthwhile purshuing this guy.

Action should be separate from Pirate as he in a different country and two different types of scam

55  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund on: March 30, 2013, 12:17:45 PM
seeing that the BTC price is going up, it maybe worth our while to start looking for legal help in New Zealand. he owes me 300 btc = $27,000

how much does he owe other people now?Huh?

lol, maybe he wasn't so much of a financial whizz kid
56  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining Equipment Recomendations on: March 29, 2013, 11:21:36 PM
What recomendations for equipment can you give me?
Short term anything will do which has a positive profit margin. (e.g. GPUs) - the key metric is the compute the "cost" of generating a bitcoin (including hardware costs) and comparing it to the market price.

Longterm you should consider acquiring one of the ASIC mining devices. They are much more power efficient. However, expect the specs to go through huge changes throughout the next 2 years.

thanks, I was looking into asic but not much around, I don't want to buy something that it going to be out of date the day of tomorrow
thanks

58  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: March 24, 2013, 09:14:47 PM
I appreciate your advice Deprived, and I will look into this option.

I have to say the new guidelines from FINCEN makes this whole ordeal even more absurd. To some degree it indicates that there was never any legal pressure on Gigavps, and that all this verification was really not needed in the first place, but rather a way to prevent people like myself claiming what was theirs under the original contract. I will await Gigavps' answer and plan, and decide on a course of action then.

I feel really bad about this whole situation, not because I could not afford to lose these coins, but since I actually recommended Gigamining to some of my friends and coworkers. They have now lost everything they invested. They could of course also afford losing it all, but it still stings a little. I trusted Gigavps with my coins and felt that he was one of the most upstanding members of the bitcoin community.

Can someone explain to me why Gigavps has not been awarded the scammer tag? I know there is a thread on it, but there was never any real or sensible arguments presented as to how he could get away with it all. This is not a troll question, I'm actually just interested in what specific circumstances made it OK for Gigavps to change the contract, and simply keep the coins? Has there been any proof of government intervention, legal pressure or anything like this at all? Does he have friends in "high places"? Who actually decides who gets the scammer tag?

Gigavps, I would still like to thank you for changing your profile picture. There was something really infuriating about that snug smile of yours, knowing you had all of our increasingly valuable coins Wink

Thank you for bringing this up again.

1. I agree with you that Gigavps should DEFINITELY GET THE SCAMMER TAG
2. I also agree that based on the FINCEN info it is clear that we should request our shares back and otherwise sue him.

Gigavps you better fasten your seat belt.

well stated

Hi, another transaction from Instawallet hasn't come through this time 50 btc, has the bitcoin daemon fallen again???

thanks

60  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New, simple online wallet: www.instawallet.org - no signup required on: March 10, 2013, 10:24:25 AM
It should now be fully fixed.

What happened is that for a few hours the backend was talking to the wrong bitcoind.

That's purely my fault, I messed up a configuration setting during the course of a routine maintenance.

Wallets created against this Bitcoin client will have to be discarded as their private key is unknown to the main Bitcoin client. Therefore it won't notify incoming transactions properly, affected wallets will fail to see their balance properly updated.

At this point their balance should be correct though, I fixed it so affected users can move their funds to another instawallet or to any arbitrary address.

If funds are still accidentally sent to an affected wallet they will have to be accounted for manually.

I apologize for the inconvenience to all affected users.
