This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on December 4th unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.2 BTC.

SPR will die soon . Grin Grin Grin

Read my post on the previous page about my conversation with Bittrex.

Of course, that doesn't mean that the coin won't die but it won't die in the next few weeks.

seriously? ...

people STILL going on about 'dying' coins ...

the time a coin is abandoned AND the community turns its back on it AND its no longer being used ... THATS when its dead ...

spr dead? ... fat chance! ...

even if it gets delisted off bittrex ...

#crysx

Bittrex are keen to support us for a period longer.  They seem to like our plans for the future.  I'm the first to admit that plans are just plans though.  Time will tell.

In any case we have contingency plans for if we lost Bittrex and the more I work on the contingency plan the more exciting the prospect of a change becomes.  It could be quite an opportunity.

Small update:

For some days now I have been running a small intranet (4 PCs: 2 Win, 1 Mac , 1 Linux, all communicating per localhost, all CPU-mining.)
where I have probably created two dozen blockchains already, always testing a few things, analyzing hexdata and debug.logs and listening to the chitchats between the nodes and then restarting a new blockchain.

That feeling when you ignite a blockchain and it comes to life --> pretty legendary.  Grin

I like how quickly you can test things in such an intranet.

So I am slowly learning the secrets of what an overlay network is made of.

It will not take much longer before your patience will pay of.

Stay tuned.

PS: I will see that I can post some Screenshots and Infos about what I am actually doing right now to help you pass your waiting time. This will follow soon.

That 66.6 SPR block is nice!

I've been creating new chains in my test environment over the last few weeks just to learn some SPR basics.  It has been really useful although I have no idea about the chatter between nodes.

Weird but, who knows maybe somehow the wallet went mad Smiley

ADDED: 4) Make sure the ports are open in the firewall!!

hope this helps!
Thanks for the help and advice.
Indeed, it must have been the firewall.
This PC is @work, where we have 2 subnets - 1 with very strict rules, and another not so restricted.
I usually always set PC in lighter zone if mining, but I saw that wallet is in sync running in stricter zone and said "why bother"

This is still weird IMHO, maybe some kind of "test connectivity" can be implemented, to know that altho syncing wallet works, mining won't?

Mining should always work if you can sync.

That's what I was thinking.

Last night my 3 cards mining spread got ~ 100coins, I saw these in the morning showing in the wallet, and then suddenly they all became "rejected" ?!
Any idea?!
Are there newer wallet/miners :S

No, most people are still mining with the GPU miners created by Mr. Spread / girino and tsiv.

Can you provide us with a getinfo of the wallet you used for mining?

BTW mining 100 coins with 3 cards in 1 day seems unbelievable... what's going on here? Could it be that you started the wallet in testnet mode?

Every day about 8000 SPR are mined. Right now nethash is around 300MH/s so you need about 3.75MH/s to get 100 coins a day. That is about 2-3 GTX750ti or one GTX970.

Fair point.  You're doing better than I am though!

Could you post your getinfo details please?  We've never encountered anything like you describe before.

Do you guys know who hosts this: http://104.36.83.126/spreadcoin/
It looks like it's down... ;(
I don't know who hosted that but it'd be useful to get it back up and running again soon.

I dug it out from the logs - it was elbandi...

Thanks for doing that.  I've just PM'd elbandi.  Would be good to have those stats available again.

Just a quick update on the Bittrex situation.

I have been in contact with Bittrex today to check what our position with regard to the delisting notice is.  Our volume is over the minimum amount at the moment so it doesn't look like we're being delisted.

I gave them a quick briefing on what we are doing with Spreadcoin and pointed them towards these links:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/developers-propose-proof-bitcoin-node-reinvent-bitcoin-mining-big-data-mining/

http://spreadcoin.info/news/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Proof-of-Bitcoin-Node-DRAFTv1-1.pdf

Bittrex just emailed me to say that they will keep an eye on things in order to give us "some space for the project to grow".  I have to say that they come across as a decent outfit, keen to support promising projects.

I won't speak on georgem's behalf but I understand that servicenode progress is going well in Spreadcoin HQ.  Round 3 of testnet testing isn't far away.  In the meantime, I'm going to try and show the coin some love and hoover some up while they're this cheap.

We probably won't be delisted but:

The problem is that we've got plenty of bag holders who won't sell at this price and won't buy until some tangible progress on service nodes has arrived.

Just chatting this through with the team.  I believe that testnet is very close.
991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACT] Anon coins will never work ! on: November 24, 2015, 07:52:26 AM
Does anybody here find it hard to take anybody seriously who boasts about their skills and accomplishments on an internet forum?

They are true and they are relevant and don't cry because your jealous.

I could not have made my point with out explaining.

The topic is ABOUT.. cracking.
So i have boasted about being a skilled cracker with a famous reputation.
This puts my point and bragging into context into the topic being discussed.

Sorry but some of us are world famous.. don't cry about it..
get off your ass and do the work that makes you famous.
i did because i earned it.

When i got a Job at Sprint doing computer work i was in a final interview with another applicant
and i just new the guy sitting beside me had heard of one of my online names
and probably had my computer cracks on his machines..
So i turned to him and i said ever used CueSteam ?
He said yeah your .cue ?
Pleased to meat you all excited..
Then i got the job  Cool

I got the job at sprint because of my bragging about my reverse engineering skills.

I brag because it what the topic is about.
I can brag because i worked my ass of !

The crack he probably used took me 3 months to make.
During that time there was no working Steam crack.. Valve had beaten the crackers
and for 3 months everyone was chanting.. give us a crack.
And it was I who stood up and created one and posted it.. nobody else !

Valve by the way has had my name stickied on their forums LOL
They know me and some of my associates very VERY well ROFL

So tell me little shits does Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi know your name ?
Are you and your PC game cracking group the ones who posted HL2 and CSS ?
No ?

Bragging ? ROFL
You haven't seen bragging.

I worked hard to learn.. i speak because it's what  the topic is about.
Deal with it.

Congratulations on your success.

However, isn't this topic about anon coins rather than about you and your stellar career as a thief?

Why over 3000 SHA256 hashes were used, I'll never know. What's the URL for Slack?

Yeah, I'm sure mr.spread's mining algo can be optimized.
The reason we use a little SHA256 in our algo is because the miner has to provide a hashWholeBlock value (to prove he himself had first knowledge about the block content, called POK "Proof Of Knowledge" in the sourcecode),
which ofcourse is derived thru a common double SHA256, and which has to be recalculated whenever ANYTHING in the block changes (timestamp, nonce (but only every 64 nonces), txs, etc...)

It's explained in mr. spread's whitepaper : http://www.spreadcoin.info/downloads/SpreadCoin-WhitePaper.pdf
(which admittedly is a little bit cryptic and not using the "clearest" english... I'm working on a more readable whitepaper version when servicenodes have progressed a little bit)

No, I know that. What I don't know is why you need 3000 goddamned iterations.

I'm not sure about that either.

Mr. Spread uses the hashPrevBlock (which is known and stays the same while we hash) to fill up the padding he's using to construct a complete MAX SIZE block which is then used to create the hashWholeBlock value.
So you probably assume that it would be enough if we derived the hashWholeBlock just once after a miner has found a solution (since hashWholeBlock is not part of the actual POW).

But I'm not sure if we are not missing something important here.

I wouldn't mind if a mining specialist like you takes a close look at it.  Wink

Nope. There is ZERO reason to hash the same data that many times. It's barbaric overkill.

Maybe a deliberately crippled miner? I don't like to suggest it but I can't see any other reason behind it.

Its just a shame I am AMD Smiley

Just a quick note for anybody updating to Windows 10 (and associated latest AMD drivers).  On Windows 8.1 I was able to download the SpreadX11 miner and mine away reasonably happy without an sgminer.conf file.  On Windows 10 this will not work as sgminer will not take your card out of power saving mode leading to very low hashrates (slower than CPU mining!).  It is easy to fix...you just need to create an sgminer.conf for your AMD card with appropriate parameters to force the AMD drivers to wake themselves up from power saving mode.

I just googled for a .conf file for X11 for my card and those parameters worked fine for me.

What hashrates are you getting?

Hi!

About 1.2M with an AMD R9 270

I get a *lot* more than that with your optimised X11 miner with the same card  Smiley

Yeah, but you also do a SHITTON of stupid sha256 hashes that aren't done in X11 with SpreadX11.

Being generally clueless, I had the good fortune to be on Slack when georgem unravelled what was going on with SPRX11.  I like what it stands for but I hate how inefficient it is.

We may never find out.  Something to be addressed one day.  Inefficiency by design is inexcusable.  Roll on X11 ASICS Wink
