63  Other / Meta / Re: Why dont we have a security subforum? on: August 25, 2011, 02:52:06 AM
I also agree with the original post exactly as stated, and have nothing novel to add to the conversation.

What if we turn this thread into the conversations we would have in a security sub-forum to show there is enough volume of discussion to justify a new thread.
i liek this idea

dont use 'password' as your password on mtgox

66  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Third GPU causing problems? on: August 23, 2011, 05:44:47 PM
Why are you using a crossfire bridge?
To be able to use the 3?  Huh
I asked the guy who sold me the GPU's he said i have to crossfire each.
67  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Third GPU causing problems? on: August 23, 2011, 05:34:10 PM
The long story:

So i am running ubuntu 11.04, i had 3 6950 GPU's but couldn't run them stacked -sandwitched- the heat was killing the top card so i ran two GPUs and leaving the third on the box, and ordered the 16x extender and 14 days later -that's yesterday- i got it.

I was kinda shocked that the extender is so fricking short!!!!
Couldn't really get the GPU away from the MOBO, and since the crossfire bridge is short aswell i ended up laying the GPU on it's side...

Anyway i crossfired them and re-initiated X to rebuild the conf file then rebooted.

The third GPU was detected and i ran three instances of phoenix and everything was cool.

After many hours i came back to find only two phoenix instances have 1000+ shares and the other have only 100 shares, and no error messages, and for some reason i can't ctrl+c the bash screen..

Did it again and waited some hours -actually was @ work- and checked it again, same problem.

Note #1: GPU #0 is always fine, GPU #1 is the one doing that, GPU #2 is fine.
Note #2: GPU #1 -second- Won't get flashed, unlike the other GPU's
Note #3: The second -#1- GPU was working fine without adding the third GPU.
Note #4: The GPU's are identical MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III cards.
Note #5: GPU #1 -second- always has the lowest temp, and it is in the bottom position.

TL;DR version:
After added a third GPU the second one won't function properly and it won't mine after a certain time.

Thanks for any help on this.

70  Economy / Goods / Re: Zombie Apocalypse Survival Kit - 50 BTC on: August 21, 2011, 05:09:20 AM
If that's your ZAS kit, I think that the bullet to the head plan is more practical.  I carry more than that in my briefcase.
The shotgun+axe are great! but this one is genuinely good.
71  Economy / Speculation / Re: butt hurt miners on: August 21, 2011, 03:47:25 AM
I'm just saying though, both of you guys are directly responsible for the price not already being high. The more you sell as opposed to hold/spend the coins the more resistance there is to the price. So even if the price does go below 7 or anything, you still can't ever complain.

except dubs'420' though, i hope he's spending it on something real special Grin
And your point?  If I don't sell, I have less USD than if I do sell.  I don't care if the price goes higher if I'm not selling...
If you keep selling it will be lower, if you camp on it, and sell sometimes = more money for all

I would jump on this if I didn't already have it... if nothing else, both Braid and World of Goo are GREAT games and well worth it!
I never heard of those games so i was looking them up.

I saw Lugaru HD on youtube and i fell in love with it.

78  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Abe 0.5: Open Source Block Explorer Knockoff on: August 20, 2011, 05:34:46 PM
abe.john-edwin-tobey.org is more than accurate, for some reason my main address [in localhost] shows no history ;(

I suspect it has to do with Python's treatment of binary data on Windows.  I'll say more when I've had time to investigate.  If you can post any addresses that have this problem, that may help.

Your address for example http://abe.john-edwin-tobey.org/address/1PWC7PNHL1SgvZaN7xEtygenKjWobWsCuf
On my side, it only shows the first two transactions
79  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Humble Bundle 2+1! 0.7 BTC on: August 20, 2011, 04:52:13 PM

0.7 for the two bundles right?
80  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Abe 0.5: Open Source Block Explorer Knockoff on: August 20, 2011, 04:37:02 PM
The http is working fine.

I see alot of addresses have the right balances, but mine has 0 balance lulz

You didn't say if 0 was right. Smiley Let me know if there's a difference from BlockExplorer.com or abe.john-edwin-tobey.org.

I made a big update to the readme files.  I guess next will be Deb/RPM/MSI packaging.  But no promises on that. Smiley

abe.john-edwin-tobey.org is more than accurate, for some reason my main address [in localhost] shows no history ;(
