46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bypassing the blockchain on: August 24, 2011, 08:20:56 PM
It's not about money laundering or anything illegal like some seem to assume.

But this makes the "use an address for each transaction" pretty useless. As soon as you make a transaction which takes Bitcoins from at least two of your addresses, you're linking them, visible for everybody. If someone would invest a bit of time to write a program which digs through the blockchain, he could group lots of addresses together and calculate the amounts of coins in those wallets. Now you need to match only one of those addresses to a name, and you know who owns how much; and from where it came.

So when will we have walletexplorer.com? Type in an bitcoin address, get a list of all known addresses assigned to that wallet and its balance. If it's somewhat wiki-like, people could even add identifying information.

In the world of fiat money, when you pay something with 100 one dollar bills, I doubt you would like it if whoever gets those 100 dollars can tell where you got each single bill from (I realize police and track stolen money if the bills' serials were registered, but that's not an option for your average John Doe).
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bypassing the blockchain on: August 24, 2011, 05:31:01 PM
Like the topic says. How can I make a transaction which will not appear in the blockchain?

I'm not caring about the security of the P2P validation, because I want to send my Bitcoins to another one of my addresses; even in the same wallet.

The reason for this is simple: I don't want others to know who sent me my coins.

Everybody suggests to use a new address for each transaction to make it a bit more anonymous. Now let's assume I got 100 incoming transactions from different people, 0.01Btc each. When I now send 1Btc to another user, all those 100 addresses are linked together in the blockchain, effectively telling everybody that all of those belong to the same user. And if one of those addresses is linked with an account name or email, everybody knows that user is me.

I already asked here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38529 but the Newbie forum doesn't get much attention it seems.
48  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Questions about sending address and transaction fees on: August 22, 2011, 07:53:18 PM
So there is no way to "scrub" the history from coins? Like by an "internal" transaction which happens inside the wallet only? I'm asking because somewhere I read about transactions which don't appear in the blockchain.
49  Other / Beginners & Help / Questions about sending address and transaction fees on: August 21, 2011, 04:36:36 PM
1. How can I select the address I want to use for sending coins? In the sending dialog, I can only enter the recipient and amount. Is the sender address randomly picked from my address list? If, then that means the recipient can look up my past transactions for that address in the blockexplorer. So the more often I send, the easier it gets for others to build a map of all my addresses?

2. From what I read, if I received a lot of small transactions and make a big transaction, then those small amounts are bundled. Does that mean that my outgoing transaction contains a whole bunch of my addresses which also can be looked up in the blockexplorer?

3. Is the transaction fee voluntary? When I look into the options of my client then there's a 0.00 fee; but I read that 0.0005 is the minimum fee. I mean, why should I pay such a high fee like in the wiki? (See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/File:Lfm_fee.png). To send 8.60, I need to pay 1.07?

4. In an older client, one could also send to an IP address. Does that mean that coins are transferred without appearing in the blockchain? Because if 1. and 2. are correct, I'll make a second "spending" wallet in my LAN and send coins to its IP from my "receiving" wallet. That way all my small transactions get converted into a single transaction which never appears in the blockexplorer.

(if this should go to another section, feel free to move it)

@RJau
I'm through with it. I've invested a few hours and got nothing from it (well, except adware); still 0 points. The new offers would require me to invest money first, but with the experiences I made on your site I have my doubts that I'd get anything back. Wasting time is bad enough; I'm not going to put any money into this.

The offers that remain are ones that have paid out.
They aren't. I did quite a bunch of those and never got any points acknowledged. Like the dating signup, 7zip, VLC, Youtube Downloader and Emule.

Free: Ares Unlimited Music & Movies
There hasn't changed much. Guess what it tries to install? Yes, ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato. Also, Ares is Open Source, just like the others above which I tried before and where I got nothing for either.

Visa Credit Card
lol, no, not going there.

Free: Emule P2P Software
See my older posts, already installed that one. I clicked the link again though, and it just ends in a blank page.

The new offer provider has begun to be incorporated.  A few of the offers are now from them.
Wouldn't it make more sense to remove all the offers from the scammer instead of mixing them with the new provider? I still see all that adware installs; in fact, I don't see anything that looks new. But I might just have missed it.

Also, I guess I can forget the 231 points I made with your previous adware provider? Right now, all my point stats are 0. And as a side note: without something like a "pending tasks list" it's really annoying because I'd have to keep track of the tasks manually.

Still no reply to any email or message. Not to mention in this thread.

Hey, mine still hasn't gone through yet, but as you stated, mine should take a lot longer.  Will keep you posted
Have you received anything yet? It's been 3 days now since the announcement that it would take longer, but I already sent emails before that. Either my mails end up in junk or are simply being ignored. Seems like nobody checks their PM system either.

Still no points earned from the offers I did.

Out of curiosity, I did a few more:

Signed up: Hub 4 Love (72 points)
I literally had to deselect something between 100-200 porn newsletters and skip adult ads

Tried: Real Player (15 points)
Tried: XVID - Watch Movies (19.5 points)
Tried: Media Search (19.5 points)
Tried: FLVTube - Youtube Downloader (6 points)
All those failed with the error message: "Sorry, this offer is not available to you. (PB01)"

Installed: Frets on Fire (25.5 points)
Open Source software with a wrapper that installs ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato*
Successfully installs the adware, but crashes when installing the game.

Installed: Youtube Downloader (33 points)
Open Source software with a wrapper that installs ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato*
Doesn't seem to work at all, has to be killed via taskmanager

Right now, I'm waiting on an acknowledgement of 231 points. With the current exchange rate of 149.76 points = 0.1BTC, I should have made 0.15424679BTC.
It is really annoying that there is no history of the pending tasks. If I wouldn't have posted the list here, I wouldn't know what I'm waiting for.

Mine neither. I wonder when the bigger amounts will be send out. I've already sent a few mails and messages asking for details, but no reply so far.

Forgot to mention that I couldn't try any more offers because the redirect page broke down, giving me only a "temporary error" message.
58  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: iWantFreeBitcoins.com is NOT a SCAM :) (At least 5 Verified Payouts :D) on: July 28, 2011, 09:50:54 AM
So here are my results about the offers I did:

Installed: iBundle (21 points)
When started, the software complains about not being able to connect.

Installed: Emule (9 points)
Open Source software with a wrapper that installs ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato*

Installed: 7zip (9 points)
Open Source software with a wrapper that installs ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato*

Installed: VLC Media Player/XVid (25.5 points)
Open Source software with a wrapper that installs ShopperReports/Questscan/Clickpotato*

Clicked: Compare Prices and earn BitPoints (1 point)
Result page was just an empty page

Installed: Babylon 9 (19 points)
When started, crashes with an "missing dll" error

Installed: Fantapper plugin (36 points)
Complains Flash 10 is not installed although it is

*) First results in Google about those programs deal with how to remove malware, adware, spyware, trojans

Now I'll wait and see if I get the 120.5 points (currently equals 0.08767462BTC) I was promised for doing these tasks. Then I'll request a payment. Considering that I have loaded a PC with very questionable and/or broken software for just $1.20, I'm not sure if I'll keep on using those offers. Especially since 3 installed simply abuse Open Source software.
