Hello!
If in 2014 I had several BTCS coins, then what happened to them?
I'm synchronizing my wallet right now and I see a balance of 0.
There are some strange transactions that I did not commit.
Transactions from today that occurred at the time of the synchronization...

your coins will still exist in your wallet if your wallet still has the private keys

IMPORTANT:  BTCS HARDFORK ON MARCH 26, 2018.  ALL CLIENTS MUST UPGRADE TO V.1.7.0!!!

Community,

We are pleased to announce that the official revival of the Bitcoin-sCrypt (BTCS) Altcoin has begun.  As such, we have three important announcements to share.

Announcement 1

As part of the revival, we have set up a Bitcoin-sCrypt Discord channel for the BTCS community to communicate.

Join the live Bitcoin-sCrypt discussion here:  https://discord.gg/EAXdR8j

Announcement 2

As part of the revival, Spidersbox will take over lead development for Bitcoin-sCrypt and Smokeasy will step back to take a secondary supporting role.

Spidersbox is a talented and experienced cryptocoin developer who has agreed to take over leadership of the Bitcoin-sCrypt project to restore BTCS back to its previous luster...with assistance from his team from previous cryptocoin projects reviving other coins, which include:
BitBar
LiteBar
BitcoinFast
LitecoinPlus

We welcome Spidersbox and his team to the Bitcoin-sCrypt community!

Announcement 3

As part of the revival, Bitcoin-sCrypt is looking to change the consensus mechanism from pure Proof-of-Work to a hybrid Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake system to ensure mining remains decentralized.

The first steps will be adding repairwallet, zapwallettxes and coin control to the current client wallet to set up the framework for implementing Proof-of-Stake.  These changes will not require a hard-fork, while the later change to a hybrid Proof-of-Stake system will.

More info can be found at the official Bitcoin-sCrypt Discord channel: https://discord.gg/EAXdR8j

We are excited about the future of Bitcoin-sCrypt!

BTCS is currently listed on https://cryptopia.no.nz and https://c-cex.com.  We are working on getting it on additional exchanges.

Thanks,

~Smokeasy

Exactly 2 weeks ago I posted a suggestion that we should hold of on voting for the name (and branding) until we, as a community, decide how we want the coin to be defined going forward.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/page-90?p=199966#entry199966

At the time, we received limited feedback so we decided to move forward with voting on a new name.

While a bit delayed, we are glad to now see the community put its voices together to really start discussing this issue.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/

As such, we will be holding off on the name change vote and look forward to more community feedback to decide how best to proceed from here.

Finally, thanks to everyone for the kind words...they are really appreciated.  That said, don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings when suggesting solutions, as we all want what's best for the coin and will be similarly be neutral in evaluating everyone's comments for deciding how to move forward.

Again, I am glad (and a little relieved)  we are finally having this important discussion before deciding on the name change issue and appreciate everyone's participation in the discussion.

Repost from:  http://theotherbitcoin.com/bitcoin-scrypt-voting-and-development-november-announcement/

Development and Voting Update for November

We have two important announcements to make:
1. Expansion of Bitcoin-sCrypt development team.
2. Next set of blockchain votes to rebrand Bitcoin-sCrypt (e.g., new name, new coin code and new logo) have been scheduled.

1. New Addition to Bitcoin-sCrypt Development Team

We are excited to announce that the Bitcoin-sCrypt development team is expanding with the addition of developer Bitquark.  Bitquark was the lead developer of the Bitquark altcoin and has unofficially supported Bitcoin-sCrypt development in the past; most recently, with his work on updating the client source-code to include coin control functionality, which we plan to release after the name change vote.

Bitquark has been a strong supporter of our experiment to decentralize development by having users vote on development issues using the blockchain and we are very happy to have Bitquark on board.

2. Next set of blockchain Votes Scheduled

After discussions with the community, the next set of votes concerning the rebranding of Bitcoin-sCrypt via name and logo change are to be resumed and are scheduled as the next set of blockchain votes on CryptoVoter.

Specifically, Blockchain Vote #4 to decide the new official name of Bitcoin-sCrypt is scheduled to occur on or around December 4, 2015, with the approximate blockheight deadline of block 372,000.

We will be accepting potential names to be added to voting ballot for one week, until Nov. 23, 2015 (approximately 2 weeks before the actual name selection vote).  Potential names can be submitted on our official forum at CryptoCoinTalk on our main thread which can be found here:  https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/1169-bitcoin-scrypt-btcs-information/

Following the name change vote:

Blockchain Vote #5 on picking the coin’s new coin code will be scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18, 2015.

Blockchain Vote #6 on picking a winner for the coin’s logo contest will be scheduled for late January 2016 to provide enough time for entrants to submit entries.

After the rebranding blockchain votes have completed, the next set of votes will involve issues fundamental to the coin’s mining and development, such as whether to change from pure Proof-of-Work to pure Proof-of-Stake or a hybrid of the two and/or whether to change the mining algorithm from scrypt to keep it more asic resistant.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support.
54  Economy / Service Announcements / [UPDATE] CryptoVoter Bitcoin Blockchain Voting Update on: November 05, 2015, 11:50:46 PM
We recently reached out to Bitcoin core-developer Gavin Andresen for some feedback on CryptoVoter’s proposal to hold a Bitcoin BTC shareholder-style blockchain vote to poll coin holders on whether to increase the maximum transaction blocksize and he kindly responded with some helpful feedback. (see https://twitter.com/gavinandresen/status/657563129493065728)

After careful consideration of Gavin Andresen’s response, we believe that CryptoVoter’s Shareholder-style Blockchain Voting proposal would be most effective for use with alternative cryptocoins and private-blockchains, and inappropriate for use on the Bitcoin blockchain because it would require long-term Bitcoin holders to move secured coins out of cold storage, hardware wallets and multisig protected addresses in order to vote.

Even though the CryptoVoter voting client is open-source and users’ coins remain secure throughout the voting process, we believe it would be reckless to ask large Bitcoin holders to take their coins out of secure storage to cast non-binding votes.

Accordingly, CryptoVoter is cancelling the upcoming Bitcoin BTC blockchain vote on whether to increase the maximum blocksize.  Instead, we will focus on utilizing CryptoVoter’s shareholder-style blockchain voting on smaller altcoins (like Bitcoin-sCrypt [BTCS]) and private blockchains.

Since CryptoVoter’s founding, our goal has been to help strengthen the Bitcoin ecosystem and while we intend to still move forward with our mission to decentralize Cryptocoin development, we want to do so in a responsible way that encourages Bitcoin best-practices when it comes to security and Bitcoin storage.  We hope our supporters understand.

As a self-funded startup this decision to cancel Bitcoin blockchain voting is very costly financially, but we believe it is for the greater good.   (On a side note, if you support this decision, want to help, or are just feeling generous, please consider sending a donation our way:  1P7e62V3fgqcV2gpPchTr8Wz7uUZ22uRRi)

Thanks for understanding our decision and  we look forward to continuing our work on decentralizing Cryptographic currency development.

The results for Blockchain Vote #3 are in and the proposal to change the re-targeting difficulty algorithm failed by a small margin with 53% voting against and 47% voting for.

Please see the attached infosheet for detailed results or visit http://btcs-voter.com.

Information for the next set of votes will be released shortly.
