1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: dk2an0 failed -4 on: February 04, 2018, 07:17:28 PM
Increase virtual memory to 60 GB or more if possible.

Thought it was maxed out at double your RAM, so you're saying that the mining rig should have 32GB of RAM?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: dk2an0 failed -4 on: February 01, 2018, 07:52:53 PM
Does it make a difference to set Virtual Memory to 16000MB or 16384MB?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining with NVIDIA - cuda error - cannot allocate big buffer for dag on: February 01, 2018, 05:00:51 PM
When people increase Virtual Memory to 16GB, do they input 16000MB or do you put the actual correct 16384MB?
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ADVICE - One board on S7 shows zero as temp and HIGH HW errors ??? on: January 18, 2018, 08:23:58 PM
So, I've got a S7-LN that started doing this, temp. on one board is near 90 while the other is in the 30's, all 45 ASICs appear to be working on both boards.  Mines for a while, then lots of HW errors and beeping which then stops mining.  Is this something that can be fixed?
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: December 01, 2017, 04:45:34 PM
Yesterday they posted on their facebook page that they hit 24 blocks in 24 hours.  Thought I'd come here and see if anyone had mentioned it and there's not a post here in the last 2 days.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU and the amount of memory for a mining rig? on: November 26, 2017, 05:36:51 PM
Thanks for the input.  Perhaps Ethereum might be a better choice.  As for the power supply, I've also got an extra EVGA 1300 G2, so it's probably better to have each handle 1/2 the load.  I don't see $100 for a motherboard as too expensive.  So my question would be for mining Ethereum, is it CPU intensive?  Is a i5 8400 good or is it better to go higher or lower?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / CPU and the amount of memory for a mining rig? on: November 26, 2017, 01:02:22 AM
I've got a few video cards laying around and wanted to try to put together a mining rig for bitcoin.  This would be a first for me, I've always just bought Bitmain miners, but why not if I've got most of the equipment and can afford a few hundred to try.
I see that MSI has a Z370-A Pro is only $100 after $10 MIR that's designed for mining.
The only other thing I would need is a CPU, but have no idea which one is recommended or if a minimum is required.  I know the graphics card does the load, but if I've got 8 cards running (2 on motherboard and 6 on riser cards), do I need an adequate CPU to handle the load?  With the Z370 it needs to be a 8th gen. Intel.  Will a i5 8400 65W be OK, it's $200?
I've got the rest of the big items.  A couple 8GB sticks of DDR4 (should I use both or just one)? A CPU Cooler. A few Hard Drives lying around.
I've got a EVGA 1600w Platinum power supply that i'm not using. (will this handle 8 GPU cards?)
I see a case is $60 on eBay https://www.ebay.com/i/322581889838?chn=ps&dispctrl=1 if I need to go with one.
And the riser card set for 6 is like around $45 and the USB 3.0 card is $30 on amazon.com are the accessories I'd need.
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer R4 - Wrong chip index on: July 26, 2017, 07:32:48 PM
I just got the e-mail stating the U.S. location for repairs, it's on 1/2 hour from me.  Wonder if I can take my R4 there myself and get the 2nd board fixed that went out soon after I got it?

Everything on the SlushPool site is blank for me.

Neither of my browsers will log on to www.bitmaintech.com (both state the site is unsafe), anyone else having this problem?

My B2 was set at 550 and then the firmware would then auto adjust.  When you ask to calculate the est. income, is that with both boards working or just one like so many of ours are?
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: January 04, 2017, 06:47:59 AM
Well, this seems to be rather common now.  My one R4 B2 that's been running for 4 weeks had one board stop working yesterday.  After reading here that it's been happening to others and that some have gotten it working again by updating the firmware, I tried that also.  Firmware update seemed to go fine, but only 1 board working still and after the firmware update the other board seems to be working but it's showing a large number of total HW errors even though the working board errors are almost none.  Now what?

I was thinking about this one.

Has anyone tried standing these on end?  If so how did you mount/rack them?  Just thinking based on the orientation of the boards that it might be beneficial to mount them standing up on end. Thoughts?

I initially tried them on their side, temps. seemed to go up noticeably, so put it down.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 21, 2016, 07:24:04 PM
Odd, they have 2 batches, one with 8 TH/s and one with 8.7 TH/s which I assume is running at 550M and 600M, but they didn't update the wattage used for the 8.7 in the specs., so those that don't know will think the faster one is even more efficient than the slower one and uses the same electricity.  In reality, it probably uses about 10% more electricity.
16  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [40+ PH] SlushPool (slushpool.com); World's First Mining Pool on: December 14, 2016, 09:49:00 PM
Anyone know what's going on for the last couple days?  Last 10 Blocks is down to 41.45% on Slush.  People on Kano seem to be noticing something some serious bad luck, but both pools at the same time seems more than a coincidence?
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain New Miner S7-LN 2.7T @697W discussion (Not official) on: December 14, 2016, 05:06:09 PM
I've got two that have been modded.   They run for about a week then I lose a board.  I turn it off and then on and it  comes back for about a week.  If you're hosting them at home and keep an eye on them, then it's not much of a problem.  This happens only to the modded ones though.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: December 11, 2016, 08:04:47 PM
I'd be interested in upgrading the 4 boards in a C1 I have that isn't being used.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What is the power supply for AntMiner S7 ? on: December 10, 2016, 07:33:26 PM
For those in the U.S., here's a possible great deal.  The Thermaltake 1500w titanium PS is $280 at BH Photo Video with a Expected In Stock date of 18 Dec.  They charge your card when it's shipped so no worry about a delay.  I don't think anyone will find a similar PS for this price range, although the Corsair 1500w and EVGA 1600w T2 are rated better in online reviews.  When they were in stock on Amazon, they were around $420.

Anyone that purchased multiple units seeing a large range of chip temps by unit?

One of my units is showing 105/79 and 93/103.  The other that is sitting right next to it, with same airflow and ambient temps showing 70/70 and 55/75.  Doesn't make sense.  Do you think the lower temperature unit is reading the temps incorrectly by chance?  The other 2 R4 batch 1 unit chip temps I have in the room are all about 88c~
Ja temps on the auto tune miners will vary a lot from miner to miner. Part of what auto-tune seems to do is look at hashrate vs temp and use that data as part of the Majik Sauce of speed, temp, and Vcore used to produce as-advertised total hashrate. That process lets them be less picky about what params are best for any particular group of chips from the Foundry and that in turn gives them a lot more usable chips. -- If any individual hashboard(s) under-performs they make sure a better one is in the same miner to give advertised speed.

I agree with this, I've got one board in my R4 b2 that's 105 deg. C but is the slower (555 M avg) of the 2 and also the one putting out 215 HW errors vs. the other at 91 deg. C that's only got 16 HW errors at 559 M (avg).
