1  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Amazon for Bitcoin, unique but lucrative offer on: April 22, 2013, 01:04:05 AM
Oooh, I might be interested in this. I am not exactly super active around here though..

Edit: Also, perhaps by using the Amazon Chat, you may be able for someone to convert your gift card balance back into a code used for gift cards? You could explain that you have a large balance and wanted to use it as a gift for someone else, or something.

So... the pool hashrate is 0 but you're saying it is being recorded properly or not?

So what happened with this?

Litecoin p2pool server is open for business.

Point Litecoin miner at p2pmining.com:9327

There is no changing share difficulty with this pool.

Can this go in the first post? I get tired of trying to find it when I have to restart my mining and need the details.

I've had such difficulities getting p2pmining to have a stale rate less than 20%. Bah. But I'm holding on to figure it out. On cgminer 2.4.1, it says that all of my config file isn't loaded and to start it with -T. I don't use command line, I edit the .conf by hand so does anyone know how I would do that?

On a side note, now time to try out the new Litecoin Pool.

Thanks for the tips, I updated my conf file as well as updated cgminer (didn't even know there was an update). I shall watch the results and post them after a bit.

So suddenly I'm having a huge stale rate at like at-least 70%. Cgminer shows it's trying to longpoll continuously but if I switch to another pool then it works fine. I'm confused.

p2pool longpolls every 10s or so, that part is normal. What settings are you using in cgminer?

My DOA rate for the last 24hrs is 3.4%.

Now that there's been a few blocks I have a question. Why does your estimated btc immediately drop after a block is solved and rewards are given out even if I've been continuously mining? I haven't experienced that at any other DGM pools.

Ugh, about to break 40 hours again on another 5M+ share round... what a bad run of luck.    Undecided

At least it's over now, yay!

Thanks, I ended up doing something really ridiculous I'll probably never remember but I wanted to try out the pool ha. I see I joined when we're nearly taken 2 days to finish a block, not sure if that's standard here or just bad luck but I'll try it out, thanks for having this great pool with such an awesome interface.

DGM  From what you explained, its exactly the same as prop!!! Which has some serious flaws.  What is the mechanism to deter hoppers?

The difference is that if you leave the pool, your earnings start going down at a rather fast rate and those earnings that you lost will go to the rest of the pool.

Okay thanks, I figured it was but I was thrown off by the whole

If you absolutely must have a certain word in the password and it's complaining about it being common, you can increase the length of the password until it gets accepted.  For example, if the password "common123" was rejected, you could try "common12345678" instead.  Also, it's not only common words but common names as well.

So what determines something being common? Or is that something internal that you don't know the specifics of?

I think I am going to add the ability to also switch your miners to PPS from DGM on your account.  I need to work out the details though, so I'm not promising this 100%.

I would like this. I don't like mining without an account so if I could use my DGM account I'd feel better ha.

Hi Eclipse,

You said that the pool is 0%, but then what is the 10% in the tooltip when  I hover over the cash out button?

That's the immediate cash out button that includes the amounts you are unconfirmed. It's if you want to straight up leave. Otherwise if you want to just be paid what's already confirmed. You click under that where it says "Pay Me". And says My BTC as ... Btc/ Paypal and My NMC as ... NMC/ BTC as red buttons.

This is extremely n00bish.. but I'm confused. Do I just point my miner like the website says..

It is very easy to start mining at P2Pmining. Just point your miner at: http://p2pmining.com:9332 and use your Bitcoin address as your username. Use anything for your password.

Or do I need to download the p2p stuff and go through that stuff?
20  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [151 GH] MaxBTC.com Pool - Merged NMC, Zero Fee, DGM, LP, API, SSL, Port 80 on: April 29, 2012, 12:14:42 AM

It'll let you know what the problem is.  In your case, the password you chose was considered weak because it contains some words it considers too common.  Passwords must have at least a letter and non-letter (number or special character), can be from 8 to 128 characters, can't contain your username, and must pass the common words check unless it is sufficiently long.

Well I highly doubt what I had is any sort of common word and it wasn't part of my username. I mean part of it was a name, and doing a quick wolfram alpha search, is not common at all. I'll play around with it and see if I can get anything to work.
