101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there any service that lets me trade bitcoins for a wire transfer? on: August 28, 2014, 09:08:57 AM
I would have recommended BitPay but why go through all this stress when BTC is widely recognized and accepted.
102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 30 to Sept 1: NewEgg Bitcoin Discount offers up to 30% off on Purchases on: August 28, 2014, 09:05:08 AM
Looks like I might just get 1-2 SSD and a USB drive, which puts me $100 short of making the $300 mark. Anyone buying roughly a $100 item that wants to pair up to reach the $300 for the discount? Discount would be split according to the ratio of purchases we make. IE if I spend $200 and you spend $100, I will get 2/3 ($50) of the $75 discount and you get 1/3 ($25) discount? Feel free to PM me or post.

This offer is quite mouth watering, how i wish i had enough on me to partake.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Democracy 2.0 (Beta) on: August 28, 2014, 09:01:49 AM

How could this be possible?  Wouldn't the bitcoin debs have to develop contracts like the etherize project?  I don't get how today we can combine votes using bitcoin... Please explain more

Promojo: search for voting systems based on bitcoin. Not necessaily with Ethereum.

I think we should start with something humble and far from perfect.
Two factor aurhentication with mobile number could  help a bit with single vote, I think.

Also, I keep thinking we should use facebook. Like it or not, it is the best Id/Login system for this purpose. Till we have sonething better with the help of Govs we should definitely use Facebook for this project, I think.

I also accept the idea of using facebook since its a more widely accepted platform with a more secured identification system.

105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: question related to Escrow. on: August 26, 2014, 02:42:41 PM
so it's more like a middle man.
that's cool.
can any1 be an Escrow? (I dont want to be/) just asking how hard it is to be 1?
Anyone can hold collateral. It doesn't require any special equipment. It's ridiculously good pay for the time, usually, but in cases where there's a dispute and a weak contract, it can easily take up way more time than it's worth, especially when there's a language barrier.

Actually - I forgot to mention something pretty important - multi-sig escrow, where you don't even have to worry about the escrow agent running off with the money (unless either the buyer or seller are colluding with the escrow agent to scam one of the other guys). Forbes has an article on multi-sig and some of the implications here: http://www.forbes.com/sites/johnvillasenor/2014/03/28/could-multisig-help-bring-consumer-protection-to-bitcoin-transactions/

In other words, an escrow is an intermediary or middle man that makes sense now.Thanks.
