1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Seizing Accounts! on: October 18, 2021, 10:59:42 AM
Whether or not this is a fake claim, there are obvious concerns with keeping any coin on an exchange or wallet that you do not have exclusive control over. I know there are people that have circumstances that makes it impossible to avoid using exchanges or having their own address, but outside of that there should be as little coin as possible out of your control.

We've seen it too many times in the past; exchanges blow up in popularity and then disappear, for one reason or another, once they reach peak holdings.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like BTC about to make its next leg up on: May 12, 2021, 10:01:58 PM
Unfortunately, I'm very late to the party and have a high cost basis.

People have been saying they're late to the party since BTC cost less than $100. I still think there is more room for BTC to grow than most people give it credit for. I think we're going to keep climbing in waves for the rest of my life.

As to the link I hope this forum doesn't allow malware.  Does it?

I don't think the forum has any means for preventing people from posting suspicious links. It's best to not rely on something like the forum to protect you from navigating to questionable places.
I'm sure it's fine, but I've been in the habit not to click anything.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to create a bitcoin account? on: May 12, 2021, 09:36:41 PM
My suggestion is always the same to anybody that's looking to start holding onto some BTC; You should be the only person in control of your private keys. There are many free ways to achieve this, pointed out by a couple people before me.

You also have the option of purchasing a hardware wallet, like a Trezor for an added layer of security and tangibility.

If you don't know what private keys are, or how any of it works then that's a great place to start. Your intentions will determine your best path forward.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like BTC about to make its next leg up on: May 12, 2021, 05:44:46 PM
I've been saying it for years, while not taking my own advice: "There's never been a bad time to invest in BTC."

I didn't click on your link, because I'm a paranoid person, but we're well beyond mainstream acceptance at this point. More and more people are becoming interested in BTC, and it's deflationary foundation is in full effect.
5  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] AMD 460/470 - 560/570 on: February 03, 2021, 11:21:55 PM
I have a RX 460 and a RX 560 sitting here.
I forgot the manufacturers, but I will check if you're still interested.

Happy to use escrow, or you can send the funds first.

Make a fair offer and I'll be happy to let one (or both) go to a good home. Obviously, if you want to wait until I get the manufacturers to make an offer I will understand.
6  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB POKEMON CARDS (English, German) - Base Set, Fossil, Jungle - 1st Edition on: February 03, 2021, 11:11:39 PM
I'm not sure you'll find what you're looking for here. I have never heard of anyone selling Pokemon cards around here, but if you find someone that is.. you better let me know.

I believe this is the proper section, by the way - Collectibles is specifically for Bitcoin-Collectibles, if I remember that correctly.

There are plenty of reputable TCG dealers throughout the web, if you don't know where to look shoot me a PM and I'll share what I know.
7  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN SPOTS] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: February 01, 2021, 10:58:32 PM
Good luck to everyone applying.

You're all just lucky I've been busy Wink
8  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] P102-100 | 3070 on: January 12, 2021, 04:04:48 PM
I own a quite big company and I'm looking to sell person to person.

What company? It doesn't matter if you don't tell us which company and are able to verify that you're indeed the owner of it.

No1 with bad intentions prioritizes live sales.

That's not true at all. Have you ever heard of scamming? How about Robbery?

Looking forward to the pictures - let me know if you decide to sell the GPUs on the forum, using an escrow.
9  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] P102-100 | 3070 on: January 12, 2021, 01:41:51 PM
I am interested in purchasing a 3070, but if we're being honest I don't believe you have them.

I don't mean for this to be an insult or a question of your character, but when someone steps on the scene and claims to have 100+ new graphics cards for sale (and is tentative about escrow) it doesn't sound plausible.
We ask everyone, even veteran members, for proof/verification and escrow.

How much are you asking for a 3070? If you're willing to use an escrow from this forum, then I'd definitely snag one or two at a reasonable price. Awaiting pictures, with a timestamp and your forum username.
10  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounties Scamming, Promoting scam bounties😥 on: December 30, 2020, 02:20:43 PM
If you have a problem with a particular project, or individual then you should file a Scam Accusation here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

You are discussing individuals actions on the forum, not the forum itself; I don't think this thread belongs on this board.

There is a thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0 that gives guidelines for what each board is for so that you aren't posting things in the wrong place. You'll get the most constructive responses if you post your questions and concerns in the proper area; saves the mods some work, too.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Add Stickies to "News" Rotation on: December 30, 2020, 02:14:21 PM
I support the idea to add the Welcome message in the News Rotation.

I like the idea

I think it's a good idea.

I think it's a good idea

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that thinks this would be a decent idea.

An alternative could be to have a "Warnings:" Rotation, floating to the right of the "News:" Rotation.

The Bitcointalk Community Award results should be removed as it was done last week

It might even be a good idea if the News Rotation is decided by a monthly poll or something like that.

There's plenty of staff that could do this

The community could have more involvement, it would remove most of the leg-work and hopefully some staff member could maintain the list once a month.

suchmoon and BPIP team have good initiatives and tools

Those are some nice features, but I do my best to avoid using anything that strays from the default functionality of the forum.
It makes it easier for me to understand how the forum works for everyone if mine works the same as "everyone's".
12  Other / Meta / Add Stickies to "News" Rotation on: December 29, 2020, 02:16:48 PM
I don't know if this has already been discussed or even if it's a good idea, so I just wanted to make that clear from the start.

After this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5303500.0 was resolved - I had an idea about getting more new and inexperienced users to read the stickies.

The suggestion is to add threads like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133931.0 , https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0 to the "News Rotation", or whatever it is called; the spot above the navigation bar that says "Latest Bitcoin Core release" and "Bitcoin Community Awards".

This gives newcomers more of a chance to see these important threads before they jump into anything headfirst, without being overly obstructive.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How good is sentiment analysis as trading indicator on: December 29, 2020, 01:34:55 PM
Eth sentiment graph

Eth graph

Quoting to show your graphs, which are crucial to illustrating the point you're trying to make (and the question(s) I have).

So, both graphs are of the same time-frame and line up during this particular slice of time?
That's definitely interesting at first glance, but a good test would be running it back in time as far as you can to see if the pattern remains consistent.
I'd be interested to see how closely they correlate at varying levels of analysis and if there's any anomalies that might pop up when looking at a bigger data-sample.

If so, then what you're suggesting might turn into a solid piece of the equation for when to get in and get out.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: High transaction fees on: December 29, 2020, 01:08:38 PM
This website: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ is a tool that I used to use quite often when determining what fee I would need to send for the transaction to confirm in an appropriate amount of time.

I suggest consolidating your inputs, and transferring your funds around during the slow times on the network with extraordinarily low fees. If possible, just wait it out until there isn't network congestion, otherwise most small transactions aren't worth sending.

The answer is "No", though, in order to move your BTC during network congestion you will need to pay the same fees as everyone else.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin whales are buying more aggressively since Christmas, data shows on: December 29, 2020, 12:50:57 PM
It sounds like the whales are doing what the rest of us should be doing, then - buying as much BTC as possible has always been the plan, even if some of us fell off the train multiple times.

Personally I'm not too worried about profit-booking in the final days of the year, because IIRC that normally happens prior to Christmas. Besides, a simple HODL for a while and you'd be past any kind of "correction" or profit-booking.
16  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Exchange (PayPal) funds for (BTC) best rates possible. on: December 29, 2020, 11:52:43 AM
Just to clarify, you are accepting Paypal for your Bitcoin, correct?
I'm just unclear on whether you are interested in only exchanging one way or the other.

Not many people are interested in accepting Paypal funds from someone without any reputation, and tons of people won't take Paypal even if it were free.

This post is going to raise more red-flags than it is going to open opportunities.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do BTC news outlets source their news from? on: December 29, 2020, 01:04:29 AM
This might be extraordinarily na´ve of me, but but I tend to get a lot of my cryptocurrency related information from this forum. You guys have been ahead of the curve on a lot of things, and if you're able to vet the information you're taking in around here then it's an amazing resource for what's going on in the cryptocurrency world.

Anything there is to do or know crypto-wise can be accomplished with the information around here, so that's got to count for something.
18  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning: I don't use telegram! The Pharmacist impersonator is active there on: December 28, 2020, 07:49:59 PM
I felt like I had to put up a warning since that scammer is apparently still active and still trying to impersonate me.

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with trying to put more warnings out there to educate members who might have been victims. If this thread stops even one person from being impersonator scammed, then it's done the job well. Even if it doesn't thwart one of the victims of your impersonator, it might cast enough doubt in someone's mind down the line to prevent this kind of thing.

I don't know if a "Watch out for impersonators" sticky in Currency Exchange would be appropriate until it becomes a bigger problem, but by then there would probably be better remedies.

There aren't many prominent threads that directly address this issue, the closest would be something like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133931.0 , which isn't in Currency Exchange and is easily glossed over.
19  Economy / Reputation / Re: Warning: I don't use telegram! The Pharmacist impersonator is active there on: December 28, 2020, 07:30:03 PM
The imposter is likely very encouraged by their successful scam on that other member. As the old saying goes "Don't feed the strays."

I'm not sure how much good this thread will do, as anyone likely to fall victim to this type of scam won't be reading this thread before it happens.

I can understand how you'd feel a sense of responsibility to try and let everyone know, but anyone that has experience trading around here should know the protocol.
20  Economy / Reputation / Re: Very dissresctful Members here on: December 28, 2020, 04:12:52 PM
Im feeding Members here with free info

There's something about you labeling the information as "free" that really rubs me the wrong way.
It's as if you're self-proclaiming that the information is valuable and you're doing us all a favor.
Nobody is obligated to feel the same way as you, or see your posts with the same perspective as you.

I get only bad feedback like im the scammer lol

No, you got negative feedback like you asked for a no collateral loan and like you wanted to start a questionable business without much of a plan.
Just read the rules, try again - your feedback isn't written in stone; it's as easy as admitting you didn't know the rules and honestly doing better in the future.

Now I undestood why the humans must suffer!!

That's a bit high and mighty, if you ask me; humans must suffer, because we don't appreciate your "free information" and don't act the way you want us to act?

People have no respect and no kindness.
Even this covid have not teach you anything... How to be better person.

People are full of respect and kindness. You're just not entitled to receive that from them.
You walk around the forum like you own the place, without reading the rules, making demands of other users and pretending like you have prophetic knowledge.
Please don't preach about how to be a better person, when you're no better than the rest of us.

All Right there is a lot dangers coming and i know and will not give free warnings!!
Many traders will get slaughtered!!

Even if this is true, do you think standing on the corner and screaming about the end-times like a homeless person is the way to spread your message in a way that it's received?

For this kind of attidude....
Be nice and respectful Smiley

That's a really fun typo, "attidude" - genuinely made me chuckle.
Again though, if you continue to tell people how to act and respond to you, then you're bound to get a negative reaction for the duration of your stay.

Well you can say what you want but if you lose trade you lose money Smiley

So let them lose money then, people are free to make their own decisions.
