Other / Meta / Re: Since 2018, what did you contribute to prevent signature ads removed globally?

You have reported 24920 posts with 97% accuracy
I actually want to see a short-term experiment on a forum-wide sig ban. I asked for this myself. I think a one month vacation could do us all some good. It could be that paid signatures really have a hidden good. We will never know unless we test this by a temporary signature ban to get the new stats. There certainly is a positive and negative element to signature campaigns, it's been a few months since I have been part of one and it really hasn't changed much for me personally except I have less coin for collectibles. I think a short-term experiment could really aid us to have the data necessary to draw better conclusions about signature campaigns as a whole. I'm embarrassed to share my report stats, they're not the most accurate I've only reported 300 posts, but in my defense most of my "bad reports" are judgement calls in the Digital Goods sections about illegal/fraudulent goods being sold. I can't wait until I can access report-stats, how/when is that available to me? 500 Reports IIRC? I can't say I have done too terribly much to prevent spam and prevent signature ads from being removed globally. I will say that I was the first to do the whole "sMerit Review", which definitely helped shape a couple dozen members that I see as much better contributors these days: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2819141.0Then, there was the "Signatureless Challenge", which I was a big sponsor and advocate for. That got newbies excited about more than just "bounties" and allowed them to focus on actually contributing in more benevolent manner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3784164.0 , I'd really like to get that signatureless campaign/challenge back up and running; any takers on getting that going again? A lot of the time the most good someone can do is within themselves; I'm not trying to sound like a fortune cookie, but if every individual made changes to be a better poster, contribute to the community, follow the rules and only represent companies they would be proud to wear publicly then we would have quite an impressive corner of the internet. I used to post rather low-quality posts a few years ago, but I've improved and attempted to assist others in improving. I know I'm jumping in the thread late, but let me have my fun and reminisce. Ever since YoBit actually got temporarily banned from advertising, and over a dozen of their participants got banned as well I have seen an intense tightening of signature campaign rules, participants and managers.

I find it very amusing that a post I made less than 2-minutes before your merit-source application made it into your submission within 10-minutes Good luck with your application. I haven't taken an extensive dive into your merit, or posting history, but I've seen you around and can't imagine you'd be a bad merit-source. You have my endorsement, but I don't know if that's worth much. I've been out of merit for awhile too, and I always told myself I wanted to earn legendary before applying to be a merit-source; that way nobody could try to attribute my rank-up to being a source.

Other / Beginners & Help / Post 👏 Review 👏 (Be Better, Beginner!)
|
on: August 24, 2019, 01:50:20 PM
|
Good afternoon beginners and curious others! Awhile ago there used to be a lot of post-review threads, they were quite successful for the most part. As with anything a few of them went off the rails and strayed from the original intention, but they did improve and guide many newbies towards being better communicators and members of our community. My thread, found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2819141.0 , was moved to off-topic, because these sorts of threads were taking over Meta and other boards that they should not have been; there were other reasons, some were seen as incentivizing posts, not meeting the criteria of a marketplace service, etc. Throughout all of this, however, the community (based on an almost insignificant poll) in a 3 to 1 vote seemed to still see them as a benefit. That poll and discussion can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3539701I attempted to create this thread in the past, but I got busy and allowed it to die. Today, we're going to start a new and improved version of that idea. I see a lot of newbies struggling to accomplish what they would like to with their posts. They are unable to present their ideas in a way that is palatable to other users. They are regularly ignorant of the rules, guidelines, expectations and have no semblance of what is appropriate for each board. My goal with this thread is to combat these issues on an individual-basis.
This is how we're going to do this -
Submit up to 3 of your posts that you believe to be the greatest representation(s) of your contribution(s) around the forum
I'm searching for posts that are well-thought out, creative, nuanced, insightful, helpful, informative, unique, interesting and overall make the community a bit shinier. I believe there are too many members that are too arrogant or too afraid to honestly self-analyze their posting behavior around the forum. I will give my feedback on each of your posts, and if I find your thread/post to have the aforementioned qualities then I will join the discussion, watch the thread and use your submission as a reference for future questions about post-quality and anything relevant to the original intent of the post/thread.
In addition to reviewing the posts you have submitted, I will also take a peek at your 20-40 most recent posts and give my feedback regarding those as well. The purpose of this thread is to give the feedback necessary to allow users to make positive adjustments to the way they conduct themselves around the forum. Also, I have a hard time finding interesting discussions, so maybe this will work as a proxy for that as well.
You can write a comment, a request or whatever else, but leave the links plain, one per line, without any numbers, bullets or tags in front of them or behind them. If a link is on that line, nothing else should be.
Do not post useless comments or unproductive posts here; they will be deleted and go unanswered.
Disclaimer - This is strictly my opinion and any constructive disagreement from other members is welcomed into this discussion.
Let's get the basics down - - I will only review posts that have been created (and last edited) before this thread's creation: August 24, at 08:50:20 AM EST
- No Discussion of Merit
Please submit your links similarly to : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2879021.msg29577405 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2850347.msg29800445#msg29800445 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2850321.20
Local-Rule : Do not format your links with tags, hyperlinks, lists or line-breaks. I will delete/reject your submissions instantly. Local-Rule : Do not post more than 5-links in one post, do not post another submissions until I have responded to your first. Local-Rule : Only submit posts written in English.

Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Would you Like to See in a New Casino Site
|
on: August 24, 2019, 12:41:56 PM

You could try to target a market of casual-players, rather than exclusively gamblers. I don't see a lot of casinos going this route, but if you offer free versions of your games, or design separate games it might make customer acquisition easier. You'd also have more data to update your games, fix bugs - especially if you offer cash rewards to the casual (free) players when they report a bug or issue.
Additionally, I did a search for "fair" and it doesn't appear anywhere in your post. Provably fair is an oldie, but a goodie.
It would certainly be unique if there were no restrictions on withdrawals.
The rest of the things you've mentioned are things I have seen before and wouldn't exactly call "new".

It’s ok, but you should really post your own pics, time stamped with your username and date Updating OP with my own image, I disappear for a little bit and everyone acts like I've never been here before Plz no dox through metadata. Thanks for the info AM, realizing I was expecting way too much for the coin; All the prices do seem to be around $500-$750 that I can find. I just have a bad habit of only looking at the BTC value and ignoring whatever $.

Today I am selling my Samsara coin, and it is not something I am happy about! I am 99.99% sure this is #62 in production, due to the address it is assigned. I will be accepting offers, I don't really have an exact price in my head. As long as you don't low-ball me, the coin is yours. I have the wooden-case, the COA, everything is in wonderful condition. I am happy to use whatever escrow you choose. Ships from USA, East Coast. Here are some pictures to showcase the item, these pictures are from the sales-thread and I will upload my own pictures if any potential buyers would like. Not actual item you are purchasingNot actual item you are purchasingNot actual item you are purchasingAny questions, comments, offers, concerns can be posted or PM'd and I will respond promptly

Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jeff Epstein DEAD Commits suicide
|
on: August 16, 2019, 11:05:34 PM

Whatever this man was going to reveal was going to be a bigger shock than doing something so obvious to get rid of his voice.
Camera stopped working
Taken off suicide watch or not successfully implementing suicide watch after Epstein nearly died a few days prior due to either a suicidal attempt or an assault.
Multiple broken bones in neck that are more consistent with strangulation.
Paper-sheets don't break bones, even if braided like a boy scout.
Removing cellmate shortly before death
Shrieking (presumably Epstein) and "Breathe Epstein, Breathe!" (presumably his killer) being reportedly heard by inmates.
Only two guards were on duty, both happened to be sleeping during the incident, hadn't performed the scheduled checks on Epstein surrounding the incident and one of the "guards" wasn't even a regular guard.
At what point is Ockham's razor supposed to back up the idea that he was taken out?

I hate to be the guy that always comes into a thread and asks for a lower price, but I guess that's one of my self-assigned roles - I can't resist.
Any wiggle room on the price? I'm primarily just looking for a good deal on a decent GPU for a build I'm doing.

What sort of trades are you looking for or interested in? I've got a Corsair K95 Platinum RGB Keyboard (Cherry MX) that's never been open and came straight from Corsair; obviously that's not $500, but I have other items for trade as well, like a Hero Session Camera, Xbox One Console, Sennheiser headphones, Bitcoin Collectibles (Samsara, Sol Noctis, Nasty Fans Set, Pizza Ledger Nano, Etc.). I have other things, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
I'm interested in 1-card and I do not need the SLI bridge - in my experience SLI is underwhelming, but I'm pretty clueless.
We can use MJ, OG or philipma as escrow if you're up for it.

immigration, which is entirely unrelated to the subject.
this thread is ... not about immigration for those people that can't read.
>thinks its acceptable that US citizens are caught up in the immigration system
>thinks thread is not related to immigration >thinks immigration system is not related to immigration The first word when I click your article is "Border Patrol". Directly from the Border patrol website U.S. Customs and Border Protection, CBP, takes a comprehensive approach to ... immigration Source : https://www.cbp.gov/aboutIf we're not talking about anything related to immigration, then I am confused. Plus why would you put words in someone's mouth if you believe their ideas are already so bad?

Yes I agree with you that bill gator has contributed into this forum but aside from him who is reputable in this forum already. For example, a normal user like me who isn't contributing to the forum . I know that they will not get their account back so getting honest and putting some efforts to get your account back is considered useless if you plagiarized. theymos' statement on the matter would seem to back up what you're saying. Plagiarism is a very slippery slope to climb back from. That being said, I'm not some kind of "special user", although it flatters me that so many people believe that to be the case. I'm just a regular guy, that spends way too much time on a website. I've never run a highly-successful bitcoin business, or made any innovations. I just speak my opinion, learn as much as I can, participate in the forum-economy and offer a helping hand where I am able to. I consider myself a "normal" user, I've just allowed this forum/community to shape my life and inform my principles more than the average bear. Usually we won't even consider this excuse ... But especially for very veteran members, we do occasionally look into these claims and reconsider the matter based on them. This isn't the first case like this: there are a surprising number of notable members who originally bought their accounts.
it wasn't him personally who did the plagiarism. ... Therefore, the ban is removed.
though it is largely bill gator's fault, I just find it on the whole too unfair to treat him as though he did something when I'm looking at evidence showing that he didn't.

Yes, bill gator was initially banned but later the ban was reverted and he received a 2 year signature ban. Small correction, I originally received a temporary ban and signature ban simultaneously and upon a successful appeal they were both removed entirely without further administrative action. I was not banned, and then appealed it to a signature ban, It was both and then it was neither - not one before the other. But in contrast to the OP, he actually increased the quality of this forum.
Thank you for your kind words
