I am slightly new to bitcointalk, but I have been bitcoin mining for three years.

Hello Fellow Bitcoiners,

I've been using Bitcoin for a little over three years. I am a bitcoin miner, and have a lot of experience with this whole system.

I am new on bitcointalk, but I have been part of the bitcoin system for a long time.

So you've been using bitcoin since shortly after the genesis block was generated? I find that very hard to believe.

PV = Present Value
FV = Future Value
B/E = Break Even
USD = US Dollar
BTC = Bitcoin

US = United States

How are you accepted shares higher than getwork values on 7970 rigs?

Basically, miner software, when doing a getwork, can request a noncerange, which means it could potentially find multiple solutions off a single getwork.

My other method of locking the BTC into an address and a penalty to be paid if moved, is like a CD except I could only use the CD value to leverage and not spend (however in that case, I would pay the 10 btc at the end, not up front).

In either case, I need to have some value to the 100 BTC.

I have doubts you will achieve this...

For example, Gavin accepts to be escrow... I transfer him money and this money he must return one year from now...

I don't know what "leverage" is for you but I doubt it can be applied if he will have the slightest doubt about this money not being returned.

And why is Gavin going to want to mess with this?  I'm sure he has more pressing things to do with his time and resources.

This is my recently reconfigured rack of 5830s.  When I'm done with the others, I'll post them as well.

I spy with my little eye... a Lenovo 60 watt AC adapter. Grin

It looks to me like it's an "old" 16.6V (or whatever it was) with the yellow plug. So it might still be IBM, not lenovo Wink

Its the 'new' Lenovo yellow plug.
1189  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 1000 BTC. 100% guarantee for lender on: May 18, 2012, 03:05:57 PM
If you have 1000 BTC and you want to deposit it and get some % but you need good guarantee that this BTC will return to you.

I can provide such deposit with 100% guarantee... How? BTC will never leave your wallet... Watch this...

!!!IMPORTANT!!! You neither change your BTC into USD nor send anything to me during deal.

Let's say today's price is 5 BTC/USD.

You have 1000 BTC. You want to loan it for 5% per year for 6 months ( Yield will be 25 BTC )

Your 1000 BTC = 5000 USD today. We make an agreement that you lend me this 5000USD for 6 months.

I transfer 25 BTC into escrow for somebody well known on forum.

After 6 months passed we look at the price. If the price is lower, let's say 4.5 BTC, your initial 1000 BTC will cost 4500 USD.

Difference goes to me = (5000 USD - 4500 USD) / (4.5 BTC/USD) = 111.11 BTC.

If price is above 5 BTC/USD, I don't owe you anything because you did NOT convert BTC into USD when "lending" to me.

And, of course, you get 25 BTC (yeild) for this bond from escrow.

If you are interested - write here how much BTC you want to lend and for what %

I'll be your escrow. Cheesy

Last night I spoke w/ Yankee (bitinstant) who's assured me that he (whom I trust) is working with bitcoinica (whom I do not) to provide an orderly method of reclaiming funds. Yankee has assured me that bitcoinica does actually have (at least most of) our money and will return it asap - and while currently bitcoinica's word isn't worth the electrons it's printed with, Yankee's is as good as gold to me.

At least now, someone with a clue how to handle money appropriately will be assisting.

I still think that closing out positions at losses is theft. But I guess bitcoinica is still entitled to their profit, right? or does that just make up their losses?

On another note, if bitcoinica closing had ZERO effect on the market, and volume is largely unchanged since their closure......WTF were they doing? They're apparently out of cash after this robbery. If they weren't actively trading (and hedging customer positions) WHERE is the profit from the the astronomical spread and predatory (larcenous!) pricing bot? Really? only $18K in 3 months? That smells fishy. Ah well. The whole thing smells rotten to me. But you guys know that.

Thanks again, Yankee.

Zhou Tong, perhaps I was too harsh in directing my words at you - you may well have not deserved any of it, and have been suffering the brunt of something you have no control over. I know you'd have handled this better. (and, that's really saying something that I trust a 17yo guy to be more responsible than a team of adults)

Ive asked earlier in the thread, is there any way/evidence that shows bitcoinica actually ever traded on any of the available exchanges, or was it all just shuffling funds internally?

There was a time when I used bitcoinica and I would make a change in one direction or another and I would see 50btc sales/buys hit mtgox at the exact same time.  It could have been coincidence, it could have been them actually passing my order because they had nothing to match against.  Either way, I swore them off a long time ago because of the "funnybusiness" going on.

What should my command line look like for a 5970 and a 6870?

For 5830 I use ...

-I 9 --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 800-960 --gpu-memclock 300 -w 128 -g 3

Basically same thing for a 5850.

I tried that with my 5970 - getting 330 per core and I only know how to do one command line so the 6870 is running the same thing and its getting 284mhash.

How do I make a command line for each card?  Or is that pointless.

Look at the -d option.  It lets you specify certain devices.  so you could run devices 0-3 off one command line and devices 4-6 off a second command line.  (or whatever combinations you want)

Shouldn't you guys be slipping on your tinfoil hats and heading back over to crucify zhoutong and Intersango for stealing Christmas ?
I recently came across information that points directly to Intersango being the 3rd gunman on the grassy knoll as well as zhoutong knowing about 9/11 BEFORE it happened.....and may have remotely flown one of the highjacked planes (the one headed for Santa's Workshop, but never arrived due to the passengers fighting back).

You should all hurry over there NOW !

I must admit however, it is nice to see equal opportunity trolling on this forum....never putting all of your 'flames' into 1 basket.

Good job guys !

subed.

I'm as annoyed with Intersango as the next man; but this sort of response is just contrarian for the sake of it.

Is it not conceivable that not every single member of Intersango is working on the claims page at once?  Is it possible that the PR account is being run by... a PR person?

Five minutes ago, there were shouts that we hadn't heard anything from Intersango, and that they had probably run off with all our money.  If anything, the fact that Intersango is responding to mundane technical questions is a sign that they are not all on a flight to the bahamas.

It was just the nature of the posts.  I think you'd agree that a status update was warranted.  Worrying about which client was the most significant rewrite isn't exactly a priority.
1197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 15, 2012, 01:43:43 PM
Shouldn't you be making a claims page instead of trolling about the nuances of different clients?
To be fair, there were those here wanting a response. You got it, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.

I agree, a posting was warranted.  They even made a splash page on Bitcoinica.com.  Bickering about the subtleties in the clients isn't productive, producing the remainder of what was promised to their customers is.

I won't be using Intersango's exchange until they post a reply in here.  Even then, it isn't likely that I will resume using their exchange.  You'll note that on their website they have:

"Intersango offers a secure and reliable way to buy and sell bitcoins. It is developed and run by Bitcoin Consultancy, who have been featured in the news by BBC, CNBC, Wall Street Journal (SmartMoney), Reuters and others. Intersango allows users peace of mind to be confident in our service and their transactions. Our support team is available by email at support@intersango.com to quickly answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us. We are happy to help."

Perhaps emails to their support email would initiate a response?  Assuming, of course, it hasn't been compromised.
1200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 14, 2012, 05:23:48 PM
As an official funding partner, I think somebody from Intersango needs to come to this thread and explain what (if any) is the plan of action to bring Bitcoinica back online and/or to refund the customers balances.

I have several pending orders from customers + a balance with them, and I need to know how to proceed. I appreciate Zhou maintaining us informed, however, as he clearly pointed, he does not own nor control Bitcoinica anymore, so we need to hear from the owners, and we need to hear from them fast. A lot of time has passed by now.

Agreed, this is being handled terribly, if it weren't for zhoutong we wouldn't know anything at all.

I've said it all along.  People shouldshouldn't have to dig through news articles and forum threads to know what is going on.  It should be on a splash page on the website.
