It’s totally bitcoin related and not some stupid off topic asshat remark. So I’m watching all the financial advice vids in my retirement, because of course I am. I even found a couple of new ones covering bitcoin, which were surprisingly informative and accurate. I guess the rational financial community is finally coming around when it comes to bitcoin. My only complaint is like you Jay, I get pissed when the term “crypto” is conflated with bitcoin. Anyway this Warren Buffet quote hit me.. “Business schools reward complex behavior but simple behavior is more effective. If you can’t explain in 30 seconds what you are investing in, you probably shouldn’t own it.“ I thought about that. And to be honest, I’m not sure I can explain bitcoin in 30 seconds to a newbie investor without said investor thinking I’m delusional. I keep my mouth shut these days irl when it comes to bitcoin. Can anyone in this here famous thread do it in thirty seconds for all the normie, phone swiping, no coiners out there who don't have a financial clue and lurk on this here famous thread?? Man, you really don't get it... Yes, some people here are kind of old and bitchy... but the simple fact is you have come to play in our sandbox. Multiple members gave you slight hints on how you were being disruptive. But you are either very proud or very retarded (not sure which). Either way, you have to realize some of us here have been here for a decade or longer. We have put our time in, we have gone through the hazing, and we have the thick skin required here to break in those titanium plates we all love to abuse... The thing is, if you take it all with a grain of salt and start contributing useful information, maybe, just maybe, in time you can become a part of this absolutely amazing and diverse group of people. Which is a once-in-a-lifetime (maybe longer) type of collective of people here all providing input to the greatest thing that any of us will ever see!!!
I am a (old) new guy around here and I was welcomed with open arms (though I am a bit funny), and I have benefited more then I could ever type from reading what I have read here (even in the roach days). This is a wealth of information if you learn to wade through the bullshit a thread of this stature attracts. If you continue to worry about the asshats being wrong or, more importantly, you being right, you are going to have a bad time here. But I promise you if you just learn to not be the whiny kid in the corner, you might just get some real-world life-changing advice in between the poop jokes!!!
Or just be a lurker like me and not worry about what some stoopid strangers think of you on the interwebz (this is the way).

Trump seems optimistic about an interest rate decrease from the Fed but I’m not so sure. It is nice to have that on the back burner for bullish catalysts though. I'm wrapping up two solid weeks, actually 15 days of camping... entirely alone. And I know it's not something that everyone could do at this moment of your life here and now... with whatever demands and resource restrictions you are under.
And some of you may have done this before, so I'm not trying to sound like Mr. Smartypants.
You should just do it. It's so good. I'm tired of it now, but that's kind of good, too.Tomorrow I will roll home and see my family, each of whom I love a little bit more than I did when I left.
Just saying, it's worth it.
Maybe it's not camping for you. Maybe it's you rent some little room in some place for a couple weeks. A hostel in Amsterdam, an Airbnb in the Ozarks. I don't know. Maybe you just want to go to San Francisco and live as a homeless person for a couple weeks and see what that's like.

I’ve been camping alone at my house for past 7 years ever since my wife and daughter moved out with no warning. I was in a state of shock for a month. Then I came to realize they did the right thing. We all get along better now, for better or for worse.I will admit it’s tough at times missing my daughter’s high school years. But I have come to accept how I am. And I think our arrangement is best for all parties involved. I cherish my daughters visits and will do everything to in my bitcoin capacity to see her academic dreams come true. |
