That's why I'll just stick with an established exchange for trading BTC.

Yea, no reason at all to do anything else. Every other method IS a scam.

I'd say this is a good idea, but I don't see how it'd stop the lemmings from giving a stranger 1,000 of BTC and then being surprised when they run off.  Can't fix stupid.

Maybe we can fix stupid!

we can lunch a site, which has a list of trusted bitcoin site.
we advertise this site everywhere. and we tell poeple not to trust anyone else then the sites listed

this way any new site would have to be reviewed by the community for security holes and doing a background cheek on the owners.

if poeple knew we had such a system in place, they you have more trust.

A yelp for BTC could work.

and forcing people to go somewhere else to talk about bitcoin would be such a bad thing?

use your heads people. this forum is the fucking problem.

I feel like the guy in spaceballs, surrounded by assholes. xD

Maybe you feel that way because you are one? Yes, that is the best answer.

I'd rather donate the coins to red cross through tradehill, instead of giving them to some random forum newbies

Ah, but the Red Cross won't contribute to the BTC economy. I, on the other hand, already have my imaginary BTC spent at BTC vendors.
26  Other / Meta / Re: should kill this forum on: August 06, 2011, 10:08:14 PM
Because it would then be impossible for anyone else to start a bitcoin forum?

O wait no.
27  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you're getting tired of BTC and feel like quitting? on: August 06, 2011, 10:01:03 PM
We're up to $7.50 per coin!

Cheesy

Check this first:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

Your 4350 will make something around 8Mh/s...

That is 0.003834 BTC per day or with a course of 11USD/BTC something like 0.042174 USD per day

Four cents a day doesn't seem at all worth the effort. I think I'll pass on bitcoin mining then, thank you for your help!

I hope you still decide to find a way to contribute to the BTC economy though.

Give some to me too please.

Why should you give to me instead of anyone else? Because I believe in bitcoins 1000x more than the other guys. Honest.

You need to be actually using a monitor or running the card to have it show up. Not sure if that's where your problem is.  Sounds dumb, but took me a while to figure this out when I installed a second GPU in my pc.

I hope it reaches $0.001 so all the people who think BTC is just a way to make USD will go away.

This would cause more people to buy them and therefore raise the price and make USD

Angry Way to let everyone onto my plan.

Dude...You won't be buying the coins when the price drops to $0.001. You simply won't have the confidence.

You're kdding, right?  1000 BTC for $1?  I think that's a risk I'd be extremely confident in taking.

Exactly.

40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Outlook on Bitcoins on: August 06, 2011, 05:19:40 PM
I am forex speculator and I just about know how much bitcoin will fall.
Take these factors into consideration first:
Bad News on Bitcoin Exchange and Users (Security Breach, etc..)
No Market Value (you can only buy drugs and web services (maybe socks too?), you can't buy house, car, land, or food)
Druggies don't have money due to bad economy
Hackers and Scammers are failing with their schemes due to more awareness and protection
Lack of Speculators (like myself, who are willing to invest in bitcoins)
NO CENTRAL BANK (which is needed to stabilize the value of bitcoins that is why you see mega big jumps and mega big lows)

Taking into account the risk involved in ANONYMITY (you can't trace or retrieve stolen coins) and all the factors listed above, the Bitcoins will fall as low as FOUR dollars. At the WORST, this currency will dissapear because people can simply lose faith and stop trading the currency. However, seeing that there are many senior and loyal bitcoin miners in this forum, and as long as Silver Road website stay up (which government is working to shut it down), I doubt for now, that Bitcoins will become obsolete. In the Long Run, Bitcoins will go away or stay at REALLY LOW price until there are new ways to spend the coins in purchasing tangible asset.

MY ADVICE TO NEWBIES:
STAY AWAY
