41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you play on an iPoker skin using Bitcoin as a deposit method? on: January 31, 2012, 03:33:17 AM
Funds will be converted to a fiat currency(EUR,USD,GBP) so you won't be actually playing with BTC.

Why can't we play with BTC?
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bringing decentralization back to the Bitcoin network. on: January 31, 2012, 03:29:37 AM
Ok, dumb this down for me.  The bitcoins have to come from somewhere.  Even if Deepbit had 100% monopoly on the mining, as a hypothetical Bitcoin user, why do I care?
43  Other / Politics & Society / Cash transactions >1000 Euros banned in Italy on: January 21, 2012, 07:27:47 PM
I just heard about this on the last On the Edge with Max Keiser.

You can't even buy an ounce of gold for 1000 Euro.  Governments don't want you buying any assets that they don't know about and can't take away.  This can only be good for the future of Bitcoins.

Unfortunately the heart of man is evil above all things.

I never knew that! You learn something new every day.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Locke: Man at large is by nature good, it's the state which is patronizing, spoiling and intimidating them and making them bad.
Hobbes: Man by nature is a beast, we need the state to tame them.
Locke vs Hobbes

@OP: It's not recommendable to introduce centralization into Bitcoin, that's not what it's made for. However, Bitcoin can help to free the concept of money out of the control of states and central banks, which would allow fair competition of currency, which would probably end recessions and many of the problems we have today, increasing people's independence and prosperity and standards of living immensely.

Thus this may free resources to offer independent and ingenious help to third world countries, which should consist of helping them become really self-sustaining, instead of making them dependent on global corporocracy like Monsanto which is unfortunately the way things are happening today.

Oh Crap, I thought you were quoting CALVIN and Hobbes.

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google wallet.. good for bitcoin? on: January 14, 2012, 10:33:21 PM
http://www.google.com/wallet/
So Google wallet is finally launching. Obviously it's still linked to flawed currencies and banking systems, but it could be a push for online and mobile payments, allowing other options like Bitcoin to ride the wave.

What do you think? Are there any projects to implement Bitcoin on Google wallet? how about exchanges from bitcoin to Google's "prepaid" card?

I suggest you immediately forward all your private keys to the NSA.

If the headline circulated it would be a lie.  Bitcoin can't solve these problems.  It is only a tool.  Only people can make these things change.  Unfortunately the heart of man is evil above all things.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comparison of currencies and trading schemes on: January 14, 2012, 01:34:23 AM
In a free market there is competition in everything, even currencies.  Ron Paul wants to allow competing currencies against the USD.  Monopolies should never be protected.  The only thing that needs protection is personal Liberty.

50  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have been warning you tards long enough. When will you learn? on: August 06, 2011, 07:10:49 AM
The way I see it is this:  There is not enough real market activity to justify the current price of bitcoins.  I am talking about commerce/trade, not daytrading, derivatives and other nonsense.  Artificial scarcity has been created by hoarders and speculators but is in a downcycle that will continue with selloff.  This volatility will continue in up and down cycles until the value of bitcoins is supported by the demand based on trade of actual goods.  This real value at the moment is low due to the inherent mistrust built into the system.  People are generally too afraid to trade because of the potential fraud.

I'm not predicting the death of bitcoins, only the eventual adjustment down to a reasonable exchange which is prabably around the 1$ level.  But I am just guessing.

53  Other / Beginners & Help / Initial goals on: August 05, 2011, 08:02:22 PM
I've always been interested in alternative currencies, because I understand the fraud that is the fiat debt money system.  I've been learning about Bitcoins for the last few months and now I am ready to have a bitcoin experience.  I don't just want to go buy bitcoins from Virtex so:

1. I want to sell something to aquire bitcoins.
2. Use aquired bitcoins to buy something.
3. Try to do this via twitter.

I figure the easiest "thing" to sell is something digital that can be traded instantly.  Therefore I am considering submitting a World of Warcraft loot card code that I have, that I was going to ebay, for the cause.  Its the Thunderhead Hippogryph hatchling from the Heroes of Azeroth set.  I have already made a twitter post just to see how it would look but can revise it after some suggestions.

discuss?
54  Other / Beginners & Help / Ubuntu One for storage on: August 05, 2011, 06:47:12 PM
Hi, is Ubuntu One a good place to store encrypted wallets?  I've seen other services recommended, some of them pay, but not Ubuntu One which seems to be the obvious free choice.  Is there something wrong with this?
