1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What kind of GPU mining rig builds do you prefer? on: May 21, 2021, 01:18:14 AM
That server case rig looks awesome, and would be great in a datacenter.

I found 3090s to be way too loud to deal with at home.

What are you charging for those rigs?

I gave op some merits and I want to mention  one different item  the psu is a 1000 watt gold from evga price is 139.99

this is an 850 watt psu  gold evga for only 69.99 after rebates  edit 7 to ship it so 77 after rebates

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438061

if you want to start with 2 cards and grow to 5 cards it is a better choice as it is less up front money.

to op nice build.

That drops the price a bit.

You can also find a lot of 1000 GQs around the same price used on eBay. Search for: evga 1000 gq.

With a 1060 you can try my Ethash miner on oros, it is more volatile than Ethminer OR Phoenix OR Claymore but it is likely to have better results over the long term and has no fee.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $770.57 Starter Rig; $1650.53 Example Rig on: May 09, 2019, 12:40:20 PM
If you want mine Ethereum base coin like ETH, ETC, PIRL, B2G many more or Cryptonight family, the best choice for gpu is Amd Rx 570 series. I recomended to bought Saphire or Asus type, 4 or 8GB is your choice.

Please run the numbers for your suggested rig as I have in the OP.   Wink

I started keeping track of hashrates in a table:

Thx!

And what table we can see for AMD GPUs? Ethash and hashrate. It`s all. And what would they mine after ETH PoS?

fullzero Sorry for this, but i`m really tired to see in the thread with NVIDIA hashes discussion about AMD.

"Better than everything else"

That's not the case.

Please use numbers/data to make an argument, otherwise it's meaningless.

For example, this post shows expected return using the current data:

$770.57 Starter Rig; $1650.53 Example Rig

$770.57 example 2x starter rig

Can be expanded to 6x GPUs for an additional $879.96 or $219.99 per each 1660 GPU.

To be 100% clear; I am in no way affiliated with any of the following products or the companies which produce them.

I do not receive any compensation, in any form.  The links to amazon are NOT referral links.

I have recently seen companies trying to sell overpriced nonsense to miners, and would like to offer a better alternative.

Many mining OSes currently have a problem with 1600 series working correctly.

I have tested these components with both versions of oros and they work without issue.

This is the rig I recommend building now with 2-6 GPUs:

Many of these items can be found for less on ebay used; however you do have the advantage of having warranties if you buy new.

You can use my mining electric cost calculator to estimate what the electric cost of this miner would be for you.  I recommend using a 70 watt power limit unless you have less than $0.075 cent power.  Here is the result for $0.10 cent power (the US average) $13.90 a month:

This table shows the 1660 mining performance with popular coins:

You can use this information and whattomine.com (or another profitability site) to estimate mining returns.

Using 70 watts and 17 MH/s on RVN on May 9th I get:

$0.48 per GPU revenue, or $0.96 for a 2x rig.

0.96 x 30 (days in a month) = 28.8 - 13.90 (estimated electric cost for those with $0.10 cent power, substitute your own power cost)

Which results in $14.9 profit a month for a 2x rig at current rates.

While this is not a lot of profit for a $770.57 (its just under 2% a month or 23% a year) investment, it is extremely low risk vs buying altcoins directly.

This is also a starter rig with only 2x GPUs.

If you spend $879.96 more for a full 6x rig; totaling $1650.53:

$0.48 per GPU revenue, or $2.88 for a 6x rig.

2.88 x 30 (days in a month) = 86.4 - 34.06 (estimated electric cost for those with $0.10 cent power, substitute your own power cost)

Which results in $52.34 profit a month for a 6x rig at current rates.

While this is not a lot of profit for a $1650.53 (its just over 3% a month or 38% a year) investment, it should outperform almost all standard investments.

Note:  Mining returns are extremely volatile, this is a PROJECTION of potential profit using the mining difficulties and probabilities as they are on May 9th 2019.

It is possible that mining returns could reduce significantly.  In this event a miner can always sell the parts to recoup a large portion of the investment.

1660s will retain their resale value well.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1600 series Nvidia GPUs are significantly better than everything else. on: May 07, 2019, 04:36:16 PM
Yes, you are right,
Nvidia GPU 1600 series is better than others,
my friend has used the 1600 series Nvidia GPU for the miner's client, he also used GPU 1660ti and the results were unsatisfactory because GPU 166ti didn't support the miner's client, my friend was disappointed to have bought 1660ti.
if anyone doubts I suggest buying the 1600 Nvidia GPU series to prove it yourself. in my opinion, we are very fortunate to buy it because many miner clients support the 1600 Nvidia GPU series.
this is why being able to do mining should be able to know what is needed for sure, not to buy something that is very expensive but cannot be used.

Although it looks expensive, but according to many reviews both here and otherwise it looks promising. Will visit one of my friends who is a mining freak and get first-hand knowledge of it.

I just bought 3 open box for $629 each, mining xmr right now zero problems.  After electricity they are making slight over a dollar a day each using less then 200 watts each.  It would take 3 1660 tis to equal that at more money and power.  Downside is AMD is only decent for cyoptonight and eth.

May I know how much the GPU speed of your device is my friend?
Do you do overclock your device?
I think it will increase your income in mining, with the consideration of saving electricity or not if you do overclocking your device.

Its over clocked at 1800 mhz running 2800 on xmr at less then 200 watts per card.

I was running some quick numbers 1660 ti vs Radeon VII $ per hash and watt per hash are very close.  Advantage of the Radeon VII is it might retain its value better then the 1660s similar to a 1080ti?

Mainstream GPUs hold the most value over time.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoDredge 0.18.0 — NVIDIA GPU Miner on: May 07, 2019, 04:32:55 PM
Diversification in held coins makes sense.  Buying GPUs that aren't effective, efficient, and likely to have a good resale value is not a good idea.
Totally agree. 570's were effective, efficient and still have resell value, when you think of it. They gave most hash/dollar for quite a while during the ETH run up. And then profited nicely from the CN era as well.

1070's were very good too in that respect.

navi GPUs look promising; might force Nvidia to release a 1670.  Might be an AMD series worth buying.

v0.19.0 is slightly faster for MTP in my tests.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1650 hashrates on: May 07, 2019, 04:30:04 PM
It should have the same hashrate as a Gtx 1050 ti at least in Ethereum daggerhashimoto algorithm because not much has changed.

This card is only a few days out and I think no one will care to buy it for mining as it is not suitable for it.I think it will have a 15-16 Mhs processing power.
This card is a little bit better only thanks to 12-mn technology. It is 20-25% gain in electricity bill.

Even so the hashrate should be the same and only 20-25% gain in electricity does not justify to build a mining rig with these cards.True difference is made or is to be made with 1660 ti which has Gddr6 memory because the price difference is not so much.
Agree with you. GTX1660Ti is the best mining GPU at the moment. It has performance almost equal to GTX1070 with lower consumption and price.
I`d prefer 2060 but you are right. 1660ti have the best ROI to date.
It will be just hangar with  1650 with profit as 10 rigs with 1660ti or 2060

The 2060 minimum power limit is 125 watts, this prevents it from being able to be set for optimum efficency.

1650 costs $70 less than a 1660, but its $/hash is lower.

1660's have the best $/hash or fastest ROI.

did you get one in to test?

I looked at the price and technical information of the 1650; and calculated that it cannot match a 1660.

As it is extremely unlikely that it will be worth mining with, so I didn't buy one to test.

If someone has a 1650 and would like to share hashrates; that would be helpful.

One is a 1660ti and one is a 1660:
Can you compare it in several others algos? I thought that 1660 would be much worse then 1660ti

BTW I think trex 0.9.2 Cuda 10 has the best performance.  What client do you use?

Also I am getting slightly better performance with older drivers, that only recognize 1600 series as 'Graphics Device'.

edit: using 80 watt powerlimit, 100 coreOC, 500 memOC, auto fans

17-18  MH/s is average for 80 watt powerlimit with a 1660ti or 1660.
Yes, t-rex looks like the best miner now. I Tried Cryptodredge - it shows about 10-15% lower hashrates.

I put 1660ti and a 1660 on a single rig to compare them.  These are the results:

Very nice comparison. Thanks for sharing, it can spare a lot of time for someone looking to buy a new/older generation Nvidia card and try mining. I see you've included also one of the GPUs I'm considering to buy (1660 Ti). RVN is definitely a standard nowadays to make benchmarks in the alt arena.

Thanks,
I've been told that the 1660 is as good as the 166TI for mining, but I don't have any RVN hash rates for it yet. I own a 1660TI and it's just like a 1070 with a lot less power consumption. I'm also waiting to see what the 1650 can produce too.
Your 1660 ti is more effective for mining than 1660, because its performance for the X16R algorithm is higher. Mh/s performance of this video card is higher for other algorithms as well.

This is due to two factors:
1) 1660 Ti has 256 cores more than 1660. And the X16r algorithm heavily loads the graphics processor.
2) 1660 Ti uses GDDR6 instead GDDR5

It looks like a new workhorse has appeared  Smiley

The x16r performance of 1660ti's and 1660s is almost exactly the same.  Anyone who says otherwise, isn't testing them at the same time.

There is a gap in performance with other coins as the 1660ti has much faster memory.

Although the 1660 has less cores, its stock core clock is higher: resulting in almost similar core performance to a 1660ti.

I put 1660ti and a 1660 on a single rig to compare them.  Using 80 watt powerlimit, 100 coreOC, 500 memOC, auto fans.

This is the result mining for 24 hrs RVN:

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoDredge 0.18.0 — NVIDIA GPU Miner on: May 02, 2019, 10:02:53 PM
It's always "AMD zone" or "nVidia zone" until somebody comes up with a proof that it is not... Grin

The ETHlargement pill worked wonders for 1080/1080Ti's. And all until then were saying nVidias are crap at ETHash.

Everyone was saying AMD is crap at Lyra2z... until Teamred showed fools otherwise.
"AMD zone" or "nVidia zone"... There have always been supporters of this or that brand. Therefore, I think that there is no point in discussing which of these brands is an outspoken leader. Everything is very subjective.

Because you are investing in one or the other; it is relevant.

Hashrates for a given algorithm, with a given GPU and given mining client, with a given OC: are a matter of fact.

Granted you need to look at poolside data; with stale shares removed.
They are a matter of fact indeed but the facts change over time. Crypto is flexible and evolving. Devs come and go. Prices go up and down, and what was good yesterday might not be tomorrow.
Over the last years, my rigs of 570's were making a killing. Then the rig of 1080's was making more. Then the Vegas took over and smashed it with CN.
Today, the 570's are dead, i.e. I could run them but they'd barely break even. The Vegas and the 1080's are trading blows but at a much lower level.

No idea what tomorrow will bring. Hence, you diversify.

I have been mining with GPUs; since Bitcoin was able to mined with GPUs.

I used only AMD rigs for a long time, the first Nvidia GPU I used for mining was a 750ti.

I only buy GPUs that are likely to be effective, efficient, and likely to have a good resale value.

1070s have been around longer than 570s, they were released around the same time as 470s.

I bought 1070's at different times; some before 500 series, some after, for prices ranging from $330 to $385.

1070s are still worth $230.

I have a hard time seeing how 570s made more sense; especially in light of the current value of 1070s.

Perhaps if you planned on only mining ETH, and spent the time to flash your GPUs; it might have made sense at the time: to have slightly lower upfront costs.

Diversification in held coins makes sense.  Buying GPUs that aren't effective, efficient, and likely to have a good resale value is not a good idea.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1600 series Nvidia GPUs are significantly better than everything else. on: May 02, 2019, 09:46:59 PM
Yes, you are right,

this is why being able to do mining should be able to know what is needed for sure, not to buy something that is very expensive but cannot be used.

this will be very helpful for new and old miners, and indeed the user interface is less friendly but it all depends on the taste of each.
I think there are still various kinds of tools that can help miners to be able to get a lot of profits, only this tool is definitely not accurate because of the influence of the conditions in which you are mining.

What do you mean by: the influence of the conditions in which you are mining?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining electric cost calculator on: May 02, 2019, 09:42:08 PM
Fellow miners,

I made this tool last year for openrig.net and ultimately decided not to integrate it.

mining electric cost calculator Link

It allows you to easily estimate your mining electric cost using details from your electric bill and rigs.

It is built with HTML and jquery 3.4.0.

If you download the Github repo and run it locally in your browser; you can edit the default configuration json(s) (near the top of the file) to allow your configuration to persist.

I appreciate your effort building this tool for miners though it might be ideal if you could provide a more user friendly and intuitive GUI interface for ease of use and also I guess a simple tutorial will be very much appreciated by the community. Smiley

I think the interface is simple; I am open to suggestions for how to make it more intuitive.

I have added more information to the OP, let me know if you think that is effective as a tutorial.

It's good to see the OP has significant improvements over the previous one and is much easy to understand now with descriptions in it. I  think maybe you could put a kilowatt hour unit (KWH) in your "Usage" field like this "Usage in KWH" to make it more specific. And also I was thinking if you could make a list of GPU's with average usage in KWH per day and integrate it into your calculator to have more precise results? I hope I am not being too demanding with it. Smiley

"Usage" field like this "Usage in KWH" : this is easy to change.

Are you talking about a table of information?
